The Porsche 911 Turbo S takes the fight to the track-focused GT2 RS and the GT3

The contenders this time were three Porsches, namely, the 992 911 Turbo S, the 991 911 GT2 RS, and the 992 911 GT3. The Turbo S and the GT2 RS have twin turbos, unlike the naturally aspirated GT3, but only the Turbo S had an all-wheel-drive system here. With so many factors playing a role, which car do you think will come out with bragging rights?
The Specs On All These Cars Are Very Impressive
The Porsche 992 911 Turbo S is powered by a 3.8-liter, twin-turbo flat-six mill that churns out 650 ponies and 590 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox powers all four wheels.
The Porsche 991 911 GT2 RS also features the same mill as the 911 Turbo S, but in a different state of tune. It puts out 700 horses and 553 pound-feet of torque. The rear wheels are powered here exclusively via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The Porsche 992 911 GT3 comes with a 4.0-liter, naturally aspirated flat-six that makes 510 horsepower and 347 pound-feet of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic drives only the rear wheels here as well.
The Porsche 911 Turbo S is the heaviest of the lot, weighing in at 3,616 pounds (1,640 kilos). The GT2 RS weighs 3,241 pounds (1,470 kilos), whereas the GT3 is the lightest, tipping the scales at 3,164 pounds (1,435 kilos).
Five Drag Races, But Same Result In All Of Them
In the first drag race, the GT2 RS struggled for traction in the beginning. The Turbo S shot off the line and kept at it till the end. The GT2 RS got close, but it wasn’t good enough. The naturally aspirated mill was doing alright, but it still had to do with third place, behind the GT2 RS and the Turbo S.
All the cars had good starts in the second race, but the Turbo S got past them both this time as well. The GT3 was surprisingly ahead of the GT2 RS for a bit, but the twin turbos and all that extra power was too much for the former. The cars were a little closer this time, but it was the Turbo S that won it again.
They gave it a shot again, and this time, the GT2 RS had the stability control on to see if it would hook better. But, it still had a bad start. Both its rivals went past it. The GT2 RS soon overtook the GT3 and was catching up with the Turbo S quite well, but it couldn’t get past it before the finish line.
The GT2 RS didn’t want to give up, and asked for another shot, this time with the Launch Control disabled. The result, however, was the same as all the other races so far. For the fifth race, the GT2 RS and the GT3’s driver swapped the cars because the gentleman driving the GT3 until now, Maz, is a professional driver. It looked like slightly better performance, but didn’t make any difference to the result. Well, Porsche’s all-wheel-drive system for the win!
The team revealed the timings of the last race. The Porsche 911 Turbo S completed the quarter-mile distance in 10.2 seconds, the GT2 RS did it in 10.4 seconds, and the GT3 completed it in 11 seconds.
The GT2 RS Dominated The Rolling Races
Next up were the rolling races. The first one was from 50 mph in the comfort settings with the gearbox in automatic mode. Seeing how the GT2 RS performed in the drag races, it was the favorite to win here. At kickdown, the GT2 RS just flew past both, the GT3 and the 911 Turbo S. The GT3 had a better start than the Turbo S, but the latter was able to pull things back to come second. This was a payback for the red beauty that struggled to get off the line in the drag races. Sheer dominance by the track car!
The next rolling race was also from 50 mph, but this time gearbox in manual mode, and the cars locked in the sportiest setting. The GT2 RS, yet again, showed how it’s done. It left both the cars in the dust and eventually won the race. The Turbo S didn’t let the GT3 get past it at kickdown, but otherwise, this race was similar to the previous one.
The Brake Test Belonged To The GT Models
The last round was the brake test from 100 mph. The GT cars stopped in a shorter distance when compared to the Turbo S. All-in-all a super fun race where all the cars had their moments – The Turbo S dominating the drag races, the GT2 RS making short work of the rolling races, and the GT3 having consistently perfect launches and keeping up with tits forced induction siblings.
