When did you last see a Lamborghini bow down to a Peugeot and a Citroen?
by Sidd Dhimaan, onThe folks at Carwow featured a unique race last week on their YouTube channel. They pit a Lamborghini Aventador SV, a Citroen DS3, a Peugeot 306, and an RX150 buggy against each other. The catch here is that the Peugeot and the Citroen are rallycross racers and have many championships between them. But, is racing them on a drag strip against a V-12 Italian bull a different ballgame?
The Lamborghini Is Quicker Than Just The Buggy Here
First up, there’s the Lamborghini Aventador SV that comes with a 6.5-liter, V-12 naturally aspirated engine that cranks 750 horses and 507 pound-feet of twist. Power is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed single-clutch automatic gearbox. It takes 2.9 seconds from 0-60 mph and weighs 3,472 pounds, making it the heaviest of the four.
The Citroen DS3 features a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that makes 580 horses and 443 pound-feet of torque. All four wheels are driven by a six-speed mechanical sequential gearbox. The car weighs around 2,866 pounds and can sprint from 0-60 mph in two seconds flat!
As for the Peugeot 306, it is also powered by a 2.0-liter engine that dishes out 525 ponies and 516 pound-feet of torque. It comes with two front plates differentials and a six-speed sequential gearbox. Just like the Citroen, this car also weighs 2,866 pounds. It is not the quickest of the lot, but still beats the Lamborghini by taking just 2.5 seconds to 60 mph from rest.
The buggy is called RX150 and is powered by a 1.0-liter motorbike engine. It makes 175 horses and 76 pound-feet of twist. This also comes mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox. The RX150 weighs just 948 pounds and sprints from 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. It is said to have been driven by Jenson Button, Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Carlos Sainz, and the likes.
The Peugeot and The Citroen Take Turns To Beat The Lamborghini
The four vehicles go up against each other in two drag races and one rolling race. The buggy, as expected, got the start both times, but couldn’t keep up with the mighty powerful cars. In one of the races, the Peugeot 306 reached the quarter-mile first, and in the other, it was the Citroen DS3. The saving grace for the Lamborghini was the rolling race, and that too because the other cars hit their limiters. In the brake test, the buggy took the shortest distance to stop. So, all-in-all, all the four vehicles won one race/test each. How about that!
