Yes, Lamborghinis can autocross

Other types of racing, like GT3, for example, are covered by Sant’Agata Bolognese via its Squadra Corse arm, which races the Huracan GT3 Evo on various tracks around the world. Autocross, however, wasn’t and isn’t on Lamborghini’s list.

That someone is Stefan Windschiegl, the proud owner of the Lambo Gallardo you’re about to see in the video below, chasing what’s said to be a V-8-powered Audi 80. Because while we all know how the Gallardo can hold its own on a race track, Mr. Windschiegl wanted to take things to the next level.
That means his Gallardo went through a series of mods that adapted it to its newfound vocation. There’s no concrete info, but the (lifted) suspension setup is definitely a custom one - most likely of the rally ilk, and the spoked wheels also scream rally racing as do the mud flaps.
On top of that, the interior has been completely stripped off and fitted instead with a roll cage and a rally-style handbrake (it could be a hydraulic unit, since those are very popular in motorsport). OMP racing seats are also in place and apart from centrally-mounted control panel of sort, that’s pretty much where cabin fitments end.
As for the engine-gearbox duo, we can’t say for sure what it looks like. The gearbox might be a rally-focused unit or it could be just heavily tweaked for the job. As for the engine, we’d leave it in stock form mainly because we haven’t heard anyone complaining about the Gallardo’s naturally-aspirated screaming V-10 packing 562 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of twist.
