It doesn’t matter how old you are, the love for Lego never goes away, especially when we can build a motorbike.
The Perfect Christmas Present: Lego Technic BMW S1000RR
I have a bit of a problem with modern Lego. When I was growing up, we had a large box full of the stuff, from which we spent many hours building all sorts of weird and wonderful creations.
The Lego models you can buy these days are incredible pieces of plastic engineering, ever more complicated and specific. But that does mean that, once the model has been broken up, it’s difficult to build the parts into something else, unless you have a degree in engineering. Or maybe it’s just me?
Having said all that, there is only one thing on my Christmas list: the latest Lego Technic model, the BMW S1000RR. Lego has released motorcycle models before - the Ducati Panigale V4, Kawasaki Ninja 400, MV Agusta F4 and BMW R 1250 GS Adventure - in the Technic range, but the BMW S1000RR will be much bigger and infinitely more complicated.
With a total of 1900 pieces, the finished model will be in 1:5 scale, 17 inches long and 10 inches tall. Naturally, there will be working suspension and an engine whose pistons go up and down, connected to a rotating crankshaft and connected to the rear wheels by a gearbox. It even comes with a paddock stand and information board!
Necessarily chunky in appearance, it might not look exactly like an S1000RR but the red, white and blue colour scheme will take care of that.
Sadly, I won’t be spending my Christmas day building the model - it is only being released on the 1st January, 2022. But I’ll make do with a picture of it until then!
Price will be in the $230 range, which isn’t cheap, but it will keep you quiet for a long time so maybe your wife might think of it as a good investment!
