Whether you think the new Countach embodies the original model or not, there’s no denying that it is quite a looker
by Sidd Dhimaan, onLamborghini took the wraps off the 2022 Countach last week and it stirred the proverbial pot. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Countach and the Italian automaker decided to do something special for it. The Countach is based on the Aventador and has elements of the Sian, and of course, a lot of cues of the original Countach as well.
The Countach drew polarizing opinions as it was missed out on many components that were synonymous with the old model, like the missing rear wing, the massive fender flares, and the pop-up headlights. Despite this, it looks pretty darn cool overall. Not to mention, we did get the flat nose, the wedge shape, the NACA air ducts, and of course, the scissor doors! It also comes with a 6.5-liter, naturally aspirated V-12 hybrid engine that makes 803 horses and 557 pound-feet of torque. Thanks to these specs, the new Countach can sprint to 60 mph from rest in 2.8 seconds and keep going all the way up to 221 mph.
Lamborghini decided to limit the production to 112 examples – homage to the LP-112 prototype – and priced it at $2.6 million a pop. It may be hard to believe, but all the 112 examples are reportedly sold out! Pretty cool, huh?
If you were a Countach fan back in the day, then I’m sure you had its poster on your wall at some point.
