Those looking for Gran Turismo 7 thrills will have to suit up with patience because the game will not hit the stores earlier than 2022. The news via an interview with PlayStation boss Jim Ryan, who had a chat with GQ about PS5 stock and Sony’s plans for 2021 in general.
Speaking to GQ, Jim Ryan revealed a bunch of interesting stuff about Sony’s plans for 2021 but he also addressed the problems that have affected the PS5’s launch as well as what gamers should expect from the new console.
At some point in the video, Ryan was asked for an update on Gran Turismo 7, a game that was teased in 2020 and slated to debut this year. While he did not answer right way, according to GQ, a PR rep interrupted the interview saying there will be a statement on the topic. Indeed, the statement arrived, and it goes like this:
“GT7 has been impacted by Covid-related production challenges and therefore will shift from 2021 to 2022. With the ongoing pandemic, it’s a dynamic and changing situation and some critical aspects of game production have been solved over the past several months. We’ll share more specifics on GT7’s release date when available.”
So, there you have it. We’ll have to wait at least another year to get GT7.
The new Gran Turismo 7 was teased via a 3-minute video back in June 2020. According to Sony, the game “builds on 22 years of experience to bring you the best features from the history of the franchise.”
It will be playable with ray tracing, in 4K, HDR, at a 60-fps frame rate. Players will be able to collect, race and customize “hundreds” of cars and create their personalized virtual garages.
