What do you do when you can’t afford a Lambo? You build one out of cardboard!
by Ciprian Florea, on LISTEN 01:47The Lamborghini Aventador starts from around $420,000 and that’s a sticker the average Joe can’t afford. So what can you do if you want one but you don’t have close to half a million bucks to spare? Well, two enthusiasts from Vietnam built one from cardboard and equipped it with a tiny motorcycle engine.
The folks over at NHET TV documented part of their build on YouTube and we can see how they meticulously cut small piece of cardboard and glue them together to recreate the shape of the Aventador.
They even created a big rear wing, which means this is supposed to be a copy of the mighty Aventador SVJ. Then they covered the cardboard body with fiberglass for additional stiffness.
After a layer of primer and some sanding, it was finished with a few coats of bright green paint that mimics Lamborghini’s famous Verde Ithaca.
Granted, the body isn’t an accurate replica and you can still see that’s it’s made from cardboard due to the poor finish, but hey, at least they didn’t stop at complaining about the real deal being way too expensive.
They also built a chassis from scratch and brought an old 150cc motorcycle engine back to life for the project. Now I know what you’re thinking, a tiny engine like that won’t make this Aventador replica very fast, but it’s a decent solution for a project that’s supposed to be very cheap to complete. It’s also a sustainable build since all parts are made from scrap or from reclaimed components.
