The Senna GTR can now write all the history it wants both on the race track and on your desk. Lego is partnering up with the British supercar maker on a Technic set that will recreate the Senna GTR using the tiny plastic bricks we all know and love.
We’ve got both good news and bad news, so let’s get the bad out of the way first. The set won’t be available in time for Christmas, but you won’t have to wait a lifetime for it, so the good news is that it will hit the stores on January 1, 2021. Oh, and you’ll be able to get one through McLaren’s network of global dealers, too.
The set packs 830 pieces and it’s priced at €50, $50, and £45, which won’t punch a hole through your wallet.
Late Christmas present, anyone?
Staying on the good news front, the Lego Technic Senna GTR will have a working V-8 engine with moving pistons, opening dihedral doors, and Lego promises it did its best to recreate the real thing’s aerodynamic body kit. We also know that once assembled, the model is 32 centimeters (12 inches) long, so you might want to clear out some of that old clutter on your desk to make room for it.
Hardcore Lego fans know that this isn’t the first collabo between Lego and McLaren. In fact, the two brands started a partnership back in 2015 and so far, it only brought us Speed Champions sets of Woking’s supercars in the shape of a 720S, a Senna (the street-legal one), and a P1.
It’s certainly good to see that the next step has been taken and the two companies worked together on a more elaborate and complex model.
