If you are familiar with the GT racing series, you’ve probably come across the name Lister. The British manufacturer was founded in 1954 by Brian Lister and has been known mostly for making faster versions of Jaguars – something the company still does to this day. In 1993, they introduced their own car – the Storm V-12. There are many interesting facts surrounding the Lister Storm and you want to know about them. It looks like everybody wants to build an electric supercar these days, and more often than not, it’s small brands that come forward such ambitious plans. This time, we hear that Lister, a company that made big waves recently for its tuning work on some of Jaguar’s models, is en route to churning out a fully electric supercar.

Six months after unveiling the LFP, a.k.a. the fastest SUV in the world, Lister is back in the headlines with another monstrous creation, the LFT-C. The raunchy sports car wears a bespoke interior and packs a heavily modified 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 engine that produces 666 horsepower. It can also sprint from 0 to 62 mph in a little over three seconds, and it’s capable of maxing out at 203 mph. It’s also limited to just ten units, making it far more exclusive than its coupé counterpart, the LFT-666. Oh, and over and above all that, the Lister LFT-C is also a convertible, making it the fastest and most potent convertible Lister has ever created.

The popularity of Lister’s LFT-666, formerly known as the Thunder, prompted the British outfit to create the LFT-C as an attention-grabber while it works on the Knobbly. The LFT-C features "an almost unlimited options list," packs the same 657 horsepower V-8 as the fixed-head version, and it costs $182,424. Unlike the coupe, though, only 10 LFT-Cs will ever be made.

Lister seems to be doing better than ever. The company based in Cambridge, England currently assembles the LFT-666 Coupe and the

based LFP that’s one of the fastest SUVs money can buy in Europe. More recently, CEO Lawrence Whittaker announced plans to revive the legendary Knobbly nameplate on a retro-chic two-seater sports car with Ferrari-rivaling output, and a rebirth of the Storm is also on the cards in the future. It is, then, surprising that Lister found time to create the LFT-C at all.

In the late ’50s, Stirling Moss was a driver in high demand, and one of the brands he raced for was Lister. The Lister Knobbly he thrashed some 60 years ago is the inspiration for a new front-engined, two-seater with retro styling and, most likely, Jaguar power. How much power we don’t know but word has it that it’s going to be a lot since the continuation Knobbly built to 1958 specifications can reach 181 mph.

Lister, the company founded by Brian Lister in 1954, has been known for building rather successful sports cars and turning out especially quick Jaguars in its shops. Lister started out by racing a bespoke MG-engined model entered for Archie-Scott Brown, who became synonymous with the brand up until his tragic demise at Spa-Francorchamps in 1958. The company was revived by Laurence Pearce in 1986 and, since 2013, has been under the ownership of Lawrence Whittaker who broke the news on the production of the upcoming Knobbly.

Recently revived British company Lister revealed an all-new car - the Lister LFP. It’s a heavily tuned Jaguar F-Pace, crafted to be “the fastest SUV in the world.”

This isn’t the first time that Lister prepared a tuned Jag. In fact, only a month or so ago, the company gave us a car dubbed the LFT-666, a 666-horsepower F-Type with numerous pieces differentiating it from the stock F-Type cars. Obviously, Lister crafted a comprehensive tuning program for the F-Pace as well. After all, one cannot craft the fastest SUV in the world without making a lot of improvements.

We previously knew it as the Thunder, but British sports car company Lister is renaming its Jaguar F-Type-based supercar with a somewhat more appropriate name that reflects its capabilities. So instead of the Lister Thunder, we’re going to have to get used to calling this beast the LFT-666. The model isn’t entirely new; in fact, we’ve discussed it a few times the past, most recently in June 2018. But, apparently, a lot has changed since June 2018. The Lister Thunder now goes by a different and far more fitting name.

British sports car company Lister has been around for six decades, but has always been considered a sort of fringe operation. To change that, the company has announced plans to launch an all-new hypercar that will challenge the likes of the McLaren P1, Ferrari LaFerrari and Pagani Huayra.

Auto Express recently spoke with Lister Cars managing director Lawrence Whittaker, who confirmed the new car would be powered by a massive. 7.8-liter V-12. No complex hybrid assistance here; just a supercharger that helps take power to 1,000 horsepower and drives the top speed up to 250 mph. Lister plans to build both the car and engine entirely on its own. A price tag of £2 million ($3.2 million) is estimated.

“We are not interested in building the fastest car we can, but one that puts the Lister name in the forefront of people’s minds with a world-beating product,” Whittaker told Auto Express.
