The sixth-generation pony gets its first upgrade, drops V-6 engine
The sixth-generation Ford Mustang arrived in late 2013 for the 2015 model year as the company’s most advanced pony car yet. Not only redesigned inside and out, the new Mustang also gained an independent rear suspension, a first for the muscle car since its inception in 1964. The new generation also marked the return of the four-cylinder ’Stang, with Ford adding a turbocharged, 2.3-liter EcoBoost to the usual V-6 and V-8 engine lineup. In early 2017, the sixth-generation Mustang received its mid-cycle update. Although initial rumors and spy shots didn’t suggest a major upgrade, the Mustang showed up with quite a few changes inside and out.
A new front fascia makes the 2015 model seem old, while the cabin boasts significant improvements in the tech department. More upgrades were operated under the hood, where Ford added a new automatic transmission and dropped the entry-level engine. The two remaining units gained power increases. The chassis also received its fair share of upgrades to make the 2018 Mustang the sportiest pony car Ford has built to date. Obviously, these changes were designed to bring the Mustang up to date compared to the new-generation Camaro. Naturally, the facelift will also trickle down to the higher performance versions of the current Mustang, including the Shelby GT350. But until that happens, let’s have a closer look at the newest ’Stang in town.
Update 7/27/2017: Ford has finally announced prices for the 2018 Ford Mustang, and to our surprise, it’s still one hell of a deal. Check out the prices section below to learn all about it!

Ford Almost Gave Us a Mid-Engine Mustang BOSS 429 In 1969
Performance versions of the Ford Mustang have always been sought-after, by collectors. We have models like the original Shelby GT350 R, Shelby GT500, or BOSS 302, but for many, the top of the cherry, the big daddy, is considered to be the BOSS 429. But for all its performance credentials, the BOSS 429 had weight-distribution issues, which is why, in 1969, Ford decided to experiment with a mid-engine version of the BOSS 429, dubbed the LID Mustang.

As the world heads toward this eco-conscious future, high-performance sports cars and supercars with gas-guzzling internal combustion engines (ICE) could soon be a relic of the past. The effect of these ever-stricter emission standards has led Ford to make performance changes to the Mustang GT and Mach 1.

How Much Power Has The Shelby GT500 Lost After 182,271 miles?
When owning a performance car, every bit of horsepower counts. That said, over time, wear and tear takes its toll on performance and some of those horses run away. Of course, it mainly depends on how the engine has been treated, both in terms of driving and maintenance. Mileage also takes its toll on the mechanical components of a car. But just how much power (if any) is lost over time? This “tired” Mustang Shelby GT500 answers that.

Drag Race: Can The Mustang GT Convertible Take On The GR Supra?
The Toyota GR Supra is one of the most controversial vehicles of our time because of what it’s based on. With a BMW-derived (but Toyota-improved) 3.0-liter, turbocharged, inline-six that makes 382 horsepower and 368 pound-feet (499 Nm) and a quick-shifting, ZF eight-speed automatic, it manages a 0 to 60 mph sprint in 3.9 seconds. 2022 Ford Mustang Mach 1 – 767 Edition
767 mph (1,234 km/h) - also known as the speed of sound or Mach 1. Of course, as you can imagine, Clive Sutton was not able to build a Ford Mustang that can hit this speed. He was, however, able to modify the Ford Mustang Mach 1 so it can now develop a total of 767 horsepower. If you are not impressed, keep in mind that this is almost 300 horsepower more than the standard Mustang Mach 1.

This 1969 Ford Mustang Started Life as a Hyundai Accent
Many car enthusiasts lust after a high-performance supercar or a classic muscle car. Sadly, both are out of most people’s reach. This, in turn, creates a market niche for studios specializing in building replicas. After showing us their Honda Civic-based Lamborghini Aventador project, Dream Customs India is now showing us something even more bizarre. I’m sure you’re familiar with the 1969 Ford Mustang – a car that has achieved global stardom. The Indian studio has taken a 2009 Hyundai Accent – a fairly modern economy car - and turned it into a somewhat convincing clone of the 1969 Pony car. We’ll let you be the judge.

From deep within the bowels of Hennessey comes a very unexpected project that involves a 2021 Ford Mustang, the black and white color scheme of the Le Mans-winning Ford GT40 of 1966, and 808 horsepower of full-on, all-American muscle. Okay, maybe I’m over-selling it a little bit, as it is essentially just a rehash of Hennessey’s Heritage Edition from 2018 with a different color. This Bugatti-Powered Ford Mustang Is Freaky Cool, But Crowds Better Watch Out
The Mustang has always been one of the most talked-about cars on the internet. Whether because of its movie stardom, relative affordability, performance versions, being a crowd magnet, or simply because it’s in the hands of people who can’t drive and crash, the Mustang is one of the most celebrated cars in automotive history. Its 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 is also capable of a very solid 460 horsepower and 390 pound-feet (530 Nm). For 2020, the GT’s V-8 received dual fuel injection, revised intake runners, and larger valves, making it even more tuner-friendly. YouTube channel “Palm Beach Dyno” shows us exactly that.
This Twin-Turbo Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Is Downright Ridiculous
The Ford Mustang Shelby 500 is the poster child for modern-day muscle car performance, but Ford Performance could have pushed it easily into supercar territory. What’s my basis for that statement? Well, I’m about to show you a video of a 1,250-horsepower Shelby GT500 that will absolutely decimate just about anything on the track.
The Ford Mustang has roots that run as deep as 1962 when Ford introduced a Mustang 1 two-seater concept that later, in 1963, evolved into the Mustang 2 four-seater concept. Then, finally, in the middle of 1964, Ford introduced the first-generation Mustang – this is the model that is usually called a 1964.5 Mustang because of its mid-year launch. The first-generation Mustang actually represented, at the time, Ford’s most successful vehicle launch since the Model A. The Mustang is one of the few cars that can be credited for kicking off the muscle car and pony car era and has, for most of its life, competed with the Chevy Camaro.
Since its introduction in 1964, the Ford Mustang has gone through five generational shifts, with the sixth-gen model being introduced in 2015. As with the generation before it, the sixth-gen Mustang is offered as both a coupe and a convertible and will, surprisingly, lend some of its design cues to an SUV-like EV known as the Mach-E. It is offered with just two engine choices after for dropped the 3.7-liter V-8 back in 2018. The entry-level engine is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost that delivers a cool 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. GT models are offered with Fords 5.0-liter V-8 that is good for 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque.
That’s not all that is offered from the Mustang, though, as there are two different Shelby models available with the Shelby GT350 being the lighter model and the GT500 being the car you really want. The GT350 is power by a 5.2-Liter flat-plane crank V-8 that delivers 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. The same engine with the same output is found in the GT350R. Move up to the iconic GT500, though, and you’ll get the same flat-plane crank V-8 tuned to deliver 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque.
As of the time of this writing, the Ford Mustang starts out at $26,670 for the entry-level EcoBoost Fastback or $32,170 for the entry-level convertible. If you want a Shelby GT350 ,you’ll pay out $60,440, or you’ll pay out $72,900 for the GT500.
