If your heart says S-Class but your pocket says no, then the E-Class would be perfect for you.
We love how the E-Class has been one of the benchmarks in the mid-size luxury sedan segment besides the 5 Series and the A6. It is still in its fifth generation and in that regard, Mercedes has given a facelift with updated looks and a lot of advanced electronics. The 2022 model year pretty much has all the features with fewer additions making the E-Class a complete no-brainer in terms of recommendations. So should you consider the E-Class or just go with other options from BMW and Audi? Let’s uncover the facts, shall we?
Latest Mercedes E-Class news and reviews:
These Spy Shots Prove That AMG Has Taken Another EQ Model Under Its Wings; This Time, The EQE!
Mercedes launched an assault at the 2021 IAA Mobility Show when it rolled out five EVs - the EQE family sedan, the EQB crossover, EQG Concept off-roader, and the Maybach EQS SUV. The fifth model was the AMG EQS, which was the first AMG model in the EQ lineup. Now, the automaker is following it up with the AMG EQE. The performance version of the EQE was spotted testing recently, proving that the company is taking the electric game to the next level.
Watch A Porsche Panamera Take On A BMW M5 CS, An AMG E63, And An Audi RS6 In A Drag Race
Mat Watson and his team from ’Carwow’ got four cars to the drag strip for an all-German drag race. The contenders included the Audi RS6, the BMW M5 CS, the Mercedes-AMG E63, and the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. All the cars feature V-8 engines and two turbochargers. The Porsche goes in the races with a slight advantage, thanks to the electric motor assisting the engine and helping it make the most horses here. But, it’s a double-edged sword as the motor and batteries make it the heaviest. Which car do you think will dominate the races?
First Sighting: 2024 Mercedes Benz E-Class Prototype
Mercedes just launched the facelifted E-Class for the 2021 model year, which brought it more in line with the current Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series. Oddly enough, the company is already working on prototypes for the next-gen E-Class that’s due around 2025, and our spy photographers managed to catch one of them out in the wild. Since this is a very early prototype, it’s under heavy camo and a fair amount of padding, but we can make out a few features that hint towards the next-gen general direction of styling.

2021 Manhart ER 800
In stock form the E63 S has enough power to take on models like the M5. It is in fact a fair fight: 603 horsepower vs. 591 horsepower! But what happens when the BMW M5 is updated to deliver around 800 horsepower (well, 789 horsepower to be more exact)? Think about models like MH5 800 developed by Manhart. Well, in this case you need the E63 S to deliver more power too. And it is the same Manhart that has the solution for you: the ER 800 with its 800 horsepower!
Grocery Getter Drag Race: Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Vs Mercedes AMG E63 S Wagon
Coming up with a car that can both give you the ultimate driver satisfaction and be a usable daily driver is a tall order. Or at least it used to be. The two contenders in today’s drag race prove that nothing is impossible. The YouTube channel Sam CarLegion has arranged for the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat and Mercedes AMG E63 S Wagon to throw down on the drag strip and see, which is the ultimate grocery getter.
Grocery Getter Showdown: 2021 Mercedes E63 AMG S Wagon vs 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat
If you’re an enthusiast who also happens to have a family, these two cars are definitely ones that have been on your shopping list. With cars like these, even mundane tasks like trips to the supermarket or family excursions are things you can look forward to because it’s not just the kids who get to have fun. YouTuber Sam CarLegion put out a video of two Grocery Getters taking on each other in a series of drag races.
Looking to visit the ever-burgeoning SUV camp? Then the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat with an engine out of a muscle car is a great way to haul the kids around. However, if you are a bit more traditional, then you just can’t go wrong with a wagon, can you? The Mercedes E63 S AMGcertainly fits that bill rather well. With this Autobahn muncher, you can rapidly cover vast distances in absolute style and have a lot of fun along the way.
2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE
Mercedes-Benz was quite active at the 2021 IAA Mobility Show. It came up with five vehicles there, which included the AMG EQS, the EQG Concept, the EQB crossover, and the Maybach EQS SUV. Among this lot was also the EQE, an E-Class-based electric sedan. This baby EQS is loaded to the gills and seems like a sweet package at the onset. The only fly in the ointment is the availability of the single-motor setup, to begin with, but a dual-motor setup EQE and an AMG EQE will arrive in the future.
A Very Special 1994 Mercedes W124 Brabus 6.5 Recently Emerged From The Shadows
The Mercedes W124 is praised for its build quality and the ability to survive just about anything (or so they say). When it comes to performance versions, the 500E is the first to come to mind, since it technically laid the foundation for a future lineup of V8-powered Mercedes performance sedans. Then came the E60 AMG “Hammer” with a bigger V-8 and more power. The Brabus 6.5, however, is even more special. In addition to being even more powerful, there’s only one in existence.
2021 Mercedes-Benz E450 Wagon - Driven
Being on the market since 2017, it might seem logical to glance over the Mercedes E-Class until a new-gen model arrives in a few years. That actually couldn’t be further from the truth because the E-Class lineup was refreshed for 2021 with new technology, and updated appearance, and a more efficient powertrain. We’ve been itching to see how the new E-Class stands after its most recent refresh, so Mercedes let us spend a week with the E450 Wagon. It didn’t take long for us to realize that the fifth-gen E-Class has aged well, and in fact, we’d take the E450 Wagon over most SUVs – how’s that for a plot twist?
Can a 2010 Mercedes-AMG E63 Beat The 2021 AMG E63 S On A Drag Strip?
The Mercedes E-Class is an executive sedan and is offered in many different trims. The automaker’s performance arm, AMG, took it under its wings many years back and has been tuning it to make it one hell of a rocket on the tarmac. While the latest fifth-gen AMG E63 S comes with a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8, the 2010 model lived by the principle ‘no replacement for displacement’. It featured a naturally aspirated V-8 that displaces at 6.2 liters. Purists prefer the free-revving N/A engine over turbos any day, but in this case, can it hold a candle against an 11-year newer model?
The folks at Throttle House decided to see how they go up against each other on a drag strip. Who are you rooting for?
Watch Audi, BMW, and Mercedes Wagons Take On Each Other In A Drag Race
Automakers may have pulled the plug on wagons in America – well, to some extent – but that doesn’t mean they’re boring vehicles by any means. In fact, if you’re ready to splurge a sizeable amount, you can get some fantastic offerings like the Audi RS6 Avant.
To prove to you that wagons can be serious fun, the folks at Carwow brought three Germans on the frag strip - an Audi RS6 C6, a BMW E61 M5, and a Mercedes-AMG E55. Which wagon do you think will win?
2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Brabus 800
When you think of high-end aftermarket companies, some of the top names that come to mind include Hennessey, Mansory, and Brabus. While Hennessey is known for outright performance builds and Mansory for the most radical and unusual mods, Brabus is a blend of the two. It is back with yet another Mercedes build, this time, for the AMG E63 S called the Brabus 800. New wheels and aerodynamic elements on the outside, plush treatment on the inside, and power enhancement to the existing V-8 make this Brabus build an absolute beast.
The W124 Mercedes 500E Was Amazing, But You Should Thank Porsche For That
Among the vast array of automobiles being produced over the years, there are some that not only define a segment but invent it. The Mercedes W124 500E is one such car. Even to this day, the 500E is being revered by car enthusiasts across the globe, as the first true performance sedan. In this video, Hagerty’s Jason Camisa explains in detail all you need to know about the mighty German sedan, and there’s a lot you need to know.
2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon
While the station wagon may have been a big hit in the United States long ago, today, out of all the cars sold on the U.S. market, only a handful are offered in the wagon body style. Of course, you have mainstays like the Subaru Outback, Audi A4 Allroad, and the Volvo V90 Cross Country and there are a few more obscure models like the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo and soon to be forever gone Jaguar XF Sportbrake. A few others are out there too, like the car you see here, the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S Wagon – a go-fast wagon that can easily make you forget that you’re an SUV-loving American living smack dab in the middle of North America. We recently spend a week with the AMG E63 S to see if it really was a strong, sexy alternative to the many, many SUVs on the market, and you’ll be surprised what we’ve learned.
2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Performance Rundown: How Does It Compare to The BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E63?
One of Cadillac’s most iconic modern cars, the CTS-V went into the history books in 2019, leaving the American brand without a performance midsize sedan after 15 years. The supercharged V-8 four-door returned in 2021, this time around under the CT5-V Blackwing badge. It’s powered by the same 6.2-liter V-8 as its predecessor, but it packs more oomph and more modern tech, looking to take on the popular BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E63. But is it powerful and quick enough to give its German competitors a run for their money? Let’s find out in the comparison below.
2020 Mercedes E450 Cabriolet - Driven
In a world where SUVs have all but taken over the market, there are fewer sedans and coupes to choose from. That reality is even worse for those looking for something with a top that gracefully stows away in the rear for unlimited headroom on demand. In fact, if you want a decent convertible these days, you’re only good option is either going with a roadster – like the Mercedes SLC or Jaguar F-Type – or something more conventional like the Audi S5 Cabriolet or the car we have here: A Mercedes E450 4Matic Cabriolet. Naturally positioned between the C-Class and the S-Class, the E-Class starts out right around $71,000, making it perfect for anyone who doesn’t want a smaller C-Class but can’t afford the six-figure price of the larger S-Class. So, what’s it like to live with the E-Class Cabrio? Well, I’m glad you asked, because we just spent a week with it and this is our story.
2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class L
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class L is a longer wheelbase version of the company’s midsize sedan. Built in China and available exclusively to this market, the 2021 E-Class L is based on the latest, facelifted W213-generation sedan. The long-wheelbase model is 140 mm (5.5 inches) longer than the standard sedan and all of that extra wheelbase goes into the rear compartment, which translates into more legroom for rear-seat passengers. What sets it apart from the regular E-Class? Let’s find out in the review below.
Mercedes Fired Back at the 2021 BMW M5 With the New AMG E63 S 4MATIC+
Here’s What It’s Like to Drive a 500-Horsepower AMG E63 With Hand Controls
The Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG is one of those cars that combine the seriousness of a top-line executive with the boyish silliness of a 14-year-old. The former comes virtue of the somewhat reserved appearance (massive mint-colored calipers notwithstanding) while the latter is in droves thanks to the 5.5-liter, turbo V-8 that cranks over 500 horsepower. That’s enough power to keep you on your toes or, rather, on the edge of your fingers because the AMG E63 you see here is entirely controllable with your hands.
The new Mercedes-AMG E53 Coupe looks just as hot as the E63
Introduced in 2017, the latest-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class was upgraded to facelift specs earlier in 2020. Now, the German company unveiled similar updates for the Coupe and Convertible versions of the midsize, including the performance-rated AMG E53 models. Although engine specs remain unchanged, the AMG E53 now sports a hotter exterior and new technology.
The 2021 Mercedes E-Class Coupe and Cabrio Are Set to Debut on May 27
Introduced for 2017, the current-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class was recently updated for the 2021 model year. But while the sedan and wagon were unveiled in early 2020, the two-door versions have yet to break cover in facelifted specs. But Mercedes-Benz finally announced that both the Coupe and Convertible models are set to be unveiled on May 27.
2021 Mercedes-AMG E 53 4MATIC+
The 2021 Mercedes-AMG E53 is a facelifted version of the performance sedan that sits between the regular E-Class and the AMG E63. The sedan that replaced the old AMG E43 arrived less than a couple of years ago, but Mercedes-Benz decided to upgrade it alongside the standard E-Class. The facelift adds restyled front and rear sections and some new tech, but the drivetrain remains unchanged.
The 2021 Mercedes E-Class Has an "Electrifying" New Design
When Mercedes-Benz introduced the W213-generation E-Class back in 2016, it created a revolution in the midsize executive segment. It brought many safety innovations to the market and it took the S-Class’ semi-autonomous driving capability to a new level with nine all-new assistance systems.
Come 2020 and the E-Class went through a mid-cycle facelift that makes it even better. Now sporting design cues from the hot CLS, the E-Class also comes with Merc’s latest MBUX infotainment system and new features. Power comes from updated diesel and gasoline engines, hybrid options, and a brand-new 3.0-liter inline-six.
Watch the Mercedes E-Class Livestream Debut Right Here!
The updated Mercedes E-Class has been teasing us for quite a while. It started with several sets of spy shots taken during the usual prototype testing phase. Then, Mercedes found it necessary to tease us constantly, but the day is finally here. Even better yet, Mercedes isn’t only showing off the updated E-Class – the hotter AMG version will also be making its debut. we’re not sure if it’s just the E53, the hardcore E63, or both, but we’re leaning toward the E53 being the candidate of choice here.
Despite the excitement for the updated E-Class’ debut, we already know a lot about what’s coming. This facelift will come with, and I shit you not, no fewer than seven different plug-in hybrid trim levels. Apparently, just about every trim will be available as a hybrid, including at least one diesel-electric model. Of course, availability is a market-level scenario so you may see one or you may see them all (don’t hold out hope for the diesel in the States, obviously.)
A new 2.0-liter four-cylinder will probably be the highlight here. It’s internal designation is M254 and it will supposidly be good for 268 horsepower on its own with the 48-volt mild-hybrid system adding in an extra 20 ponies and an undisclosed amount of torque. The M256 inline-six will also be on the list (borrowed from the CLS) and will be good for 362 ponies plus the traditional mild-hybrid allotted 20 extra ponies. Lots of fresh interior tech will follow as well, some of which taken directly from the new S-Class. The livestream starts at 7:45 AM GMT or 2:45 AM EST for you night owls out there.
Hear a Bunch of Twin-Turbo V-8s Flex Their Muscles
In a world where downsizing used to be shoved down our throats as a better alternative to higher displacement, the V-8 engine has managed to somehow survive but it is only doing so in the stratospheric blankets of the car realm.
Carwow’s most recent drag race manages to bring together a quartet of V-8-powered monsters: you’ve got the Audi RS6, the BMW M5, the Mercedes-AMG E63, and of course, the Porsche Panamera. Interestingly enough, these are not your go-to supercars but mere luxury cars that can deliver both on performance and practicality, when required. So, how do they fare in a drag race, then?
Hoonigan Decided to Show Off an E55 AMG-Powered Track Kart and Now We Want One
Most of you link the Hoonigan name with Ken Block and leave it at that, so I won’t blame you for not knowing that Hoonigan is into a lot more than Block’s crazy Shenanigans. Case in point – this video of an E55 AMG-powered Track Kart that was posted to the company’s Youtube channel “Daily Transmission.”
For those of you that don’t know, Daily Transmission is a dedicated channel where the Hoonigans look at the wildest, upside-down car builds they can find, and the video you’re about to watch below is no exception, so let’s get to it.
Here’s How Speed Bumps Affect Your Car At Speed - Ouch
Warped Perception, the Discovery Channel and YouTube show that’s best known for demonstrating the real score on the goings-on in your cars, is back with another video demonstration. After giving us a good look at what happens to a car after being subjected to the nuisances that are potholes, the show’s tired and battered see-through Mercedes E-Benz Class returns to tackle another perpetually annoying road obstacle: speed bumps.
Best be prepared to handle all the cringing that comes with watching this video, but like most of Warped Perception’s previous episodes, this one is less about making a spectacle of speed bumps and more about educating you on what happens to your car when it routinely has to pass over these traps.
A Mercedes AMG E63 Just Made the Cannonball Run in a Record 27 Hours and 25 Minutes
One of the auto world’s craziest and most sought-after records, the Cannonball Run has been broken. The infamous New-York-to-Los-Angeles run that has been the obsession of a subculture of gear heads for more than 50 years now has a new record time, and it was broken by three guys — Arne Toman, Doug Tabbutt, and Berkeley Chadwick — who managed to accomplish the run while driving a heavily modified 2015 Mercedes-AMG E 63, doing so in a staggering time of 27 hours and 25 minutes. That time eclipsed the previous record of 30 hours that was set only six years ago.
Video: If You Put a Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo E-Hybrid and a Mercedes-AMG E63 S on the Drag Strip, Who Wins?
So, what are we looking at here? A traditional wagon with a twin-turbo V-8 pitted against a squished one from the House of Zuffenhausen that, besides the twin-turbo V-8, packs a hybrid system. The Porsche is over $190,000 while the Merc starts at little over $110,0000. While you might as well buy the E63S and head for your nearest Porsche dealership to buy an $81,000 718 Cayman GTS, things aren’t ever that simple, right?
Porsche decided its Panamera four-door sedan could use some extra practicality and the Super Turismo wagon was born. It’s sleeker than most wagons but this doesn’t scare Mercedes-Benz AMG, which has been making insane family carriers for the better part of three decades.
Watch How Fast a Mercedes-AMG E63 Can Eat Through A Pair of Tires
The Gumbal YouTube channel is a great follow if you’re the type who makes incredible videos of cars doing car things as part of your daily routine. Recently, we caught a video of a Mercedes-AMG E 63 S sitting right smack in the middle of the Bimmerworld 2019 event. You’re probably wondering what a Mercedes-AMG E 63 S is doing in a BMW event, and while it would be fun to make some silly story about the circumstances of its presence, we’ll leave that up to your imaginations. The important thing isn’t that the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S attended the Bimmerworld 2019 event. The important is what it did there.
2020 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe
The Mercedes E-class coupe has always been a looker. There are a lot of coupes out there on the market, but this one has a certain ring to it. It does not carry any fancy moniker or overdone looks and is a coupe in true sense. Mercedes-Benz is currently working on the E-Class facelift for the 2020 model year. The E-class sedan and the wagon had been spotted before, but now, even the 2020 E-class coupe makes its paparazzi debut. Just like the sedan and the wagon, the coupe also bears changes all around the body and a few on the inside as well. Perhaps there will even be a new engine as well. Will the 2020 Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe be able to spike up sales for the German automaker?
Arrows’ Mercedes-Benz W124 Station Wagons Are Begging for a Road Trip
2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 S - Driven
Ever since Mercedes acquired AMG, in 1999, the Three Pointed Star has been hot on BMW’s heels making increasingly good (and good to drive) super sedans. Now, it looks like we have reached a point where the current Mercedes-AMG E63 is as good as BMW’s M5, if not better in several areas.
This is unprecedented because previous hot E-Class models were fun to slide around while producing plumes of tire smoke and also launch off the line (an experience also often accompanied by a bit too much tire smoke). Now, the current E63 S has all-wheel drive to reign its massive power and torque figures in, it has excellent body control, sharp and direct steering, and it’s now a car that definitely appeals to exactly the same people who would consider buying the current BMW M5.
There is no question about it: the latest E63S AMG 4Matic+ is a precision machine with considerably more finesse to its handling compared to previous models. According to some, it’s currently the most accomplished, rewarding and best-to-drive vehicle in its class and, after spending some time with it, we agree. It’s bonkers fast but not really usable on the road, unless you fancy a run-in with the law (or running into the guard rails), so if you really want to explore its breadth of abilities, you take it to a track.
Mercedes was caught testing restyled E-Class prototypes that look like they’re hiding new front and rear fascias. It also appears that most of the work will be done on the front end, which is covered by the heaviest camouflage, although there are other details hidden as well.
The current E-Class, the fifth generation of the nameplate, was launched in 2016 and it is due for a refresh next year. Most changes will be done to the styling, to better reflect Mercedes’ new design language that was originally showcased on the new A-Class and CLS. The updated E-Class is expected to experience an extra infusion of tech as well.
No changes will likely be made to the engine range since the Mercedes started selling the E-Class with its new generation of four-cylinder and straight-six diesel engines, both of which make up the bulk of sales in major markets such as Europe.
Update 01/22/2019: The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is due for a mild facelift, and it should be coming in 2020. It’s only been about a month since we last laid eyes on the pre-production prototype, but we’re getting another look at it. There aren’t any real changes in terms of what we can see on the outside, however, we do get a decent look at the interior, and there are some minor things that we can spot. Check out our spy shots section below for all the details.
10 fun coupes with enough space for your golf clubs
Whether it’s a quick jaunt to the driving range, or an entire Sunday spent on the links with your friends, it’s important to have the right ride to get you and your gear to the golf course without a fuss. As such, the big luxury automakers out there offer a range of two-door coupes with enough space in the rear to transport your clubs, bag, and whatever else you need for a round or two, all without sacrificing comfort in the cabin. But which of these is the best?
To find out, we took a look at all the big names on the market from the perspective of a golfer. First and foremost, the coupe in question has to have enough trunk space to carry at least one golf bag, assuming an average golf bag size of 36 inches by 14 inches by 10 inches, or 3 cubic feet, give or take. What’s more, we’re also considering style and appearance, as well as luxury and equipment features inside the cabin.
So then - arranged in no particular order, here’s our picks for the top 10 luxury coupes to take golfing.
Top Midsize Sedans of 2018
SUVs have become the toast of the automotive world these days that it’s hard to argue against anyone who wants to buy one. It’s just that even though SUVs continue to grow in popularity, it can’t replicate the suave styling and sophistication of some of the most popular midsize sedans on the market today. The best midsize sedans are often those that give you the best of all words. They’re stylish, powerful, comfortable, and spacious. Some even combine all those qualities in one package. SUVs have these qualities, too, but they’re often a product of customers needing them as opposed to wanting them.
With midsize sedans, especially the luxury types, you don’t need space because you have a family to fit inside it, you want the space because you want to show off your ride to your friends. Likewise, you don’t need it to be powerful for your next weekend getaway. You want it to be powerful, so it grabs the attention of the people around you. In here is a list of the best midsize sedans of 2018. Pay attention to who made it because there’s a good chance that if you’re in the market for one, you’ll end up getting one of these models.
13 Crossover Wagons You Could Buy Instead of an SUV
High-riding vehicles, like crossovers and SUVs are at the height of popularity right now, but they’re not the only way to go if you want practicality and some off-road capability. Crossover style raised wagons are a great alternative and while they can still drive you over a rough field or rutted road with ease, they’re better to drive on road and actually pretty stylish.
They are essentially the wagon versions of different cars which have gained extra ride height and plastic cladding on the outside to protect them from scratches in their most vulnerable points. These vehicles usually have standard all-wheel drive and are usually a higher trim level, so they are not cheap (compared to the vehicle they’re based on) but they also come with a lot of equipment.
Here’s a list of the 13 coolest crossover-style wagons you can buy today.
Tuning Firm Puts an 80s Mercedes 190E Body on a 2010 Mercedes-AMG C63 Chassis and the Result is Amazing
They say matches are made in heaven; and after seeing this combination here, I feel it holds true even with automobiles. We have seen mods where puny cars get bumped with hundreds of extra horses. That seems old-fashioned now. Featured here is a body from the mid-eighties Mercedes-Benz 190E and the chassis and engine of the modern C63 AMG sedan - all blended together into one fine piece of automotive...art? Does the world deserve this car? Moniker’d the Frankenstein Benz, this may actually be a better love story than Twilight.
Watch the Mercedes-AMG E53 Mild Hybrid Make a Gut-Churning Top-Speed Run
The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Coupe isn’t a whippersnapper the way performance cars are. But, it’s far from a tortoise, either. The AMG E 53 Coupe is surprisingly quick on its feet. It’s capable of sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, and while its 158-mph top speed isn’t anything to write home about, it’s still capable of putting a lot of cars in its segment in their proper places. A big part of the AMG E 53 Coupe’s performance capabilities rests on its powertrain. It has a twin-turbocharged, inline-six and a mild hybrid setup with EQ Boost that combine to produce a total of 450 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. All that power — and the resulting crackling sound it produces — was on full display in this video of the coupe running roughshod over the Autobahn.
2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon by G-Power
German tuner G-Power is known for building programs that turn sporty vehicles into performance savants on four wheels. It’s worked its magic on a handful of BMWs over the years, but now, it’s turning its attention to Mercedes-AMG, specifically the German automaker’s powerhouse wagon, the E 63 S Wagon. At the core of G-Power’s new tuning program for the E 63 S is an engine upgrade that’s sure to rock the socks of owners who are crazy enough to get the kit. The program is definitely not for everyone, least of all those who are more than happy with having over 600 horsepower to play with. But, for the rare few who think that 600 ponies isn’t good enough, this new kit from G-Power should be right up your wheelhouse.
What better sight than watching three Germans in a conventional drag race! In this video, we see Matt Prior of Autocar, give a brief about all the three vehicles – the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid, the Mercedes AMG E63 S, and the BMW M5. Undoubtedly, these are competent vehicles individually, but where do they stand when pitted against each other?
2019 Mercedes-AMG E53 Sedan
Launched in 2016, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class introduced an impressive amount of new technology for the brand, including a semi-autonomous feature and a steering wheel that can detect swipes like a smartphone. The nameplate expanded rapidly to include efficient four-cylinder models, a hybrid, diesels, and powerful AMG variants. Come 2018, and the sedan gains a mild hybrid AMG version under the "E53" badge. Set to replace the AMG E43 for the 2019 model years, it slots between the E400 4Matic and the full-blown AMG E63.
The sedan is the third E-Class model to make the switch to EQ hybrid technology. Mercedes-Benz began the overhaul with the coupe and cabriolet versions, which were unveiled at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show in January. The technology first debuted on the CLS in 2017, but the four-door version is not as powerful. A similar setup can be found in the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, which also offers a 53-badged variant. Brought into U.S. dealerships for the 2018 model year, the E-Class Cabriolet shares styling cues with its Coupe sibling. However, a big change compared to its predecessor has occurred under the skin. Unlike the previous model, the new E-Class Cabriolet shares underpinnings with the brand-new E-Class sedan, which rides on a rear-wheel drive architecture, dubbed MRA, that’s lighter and extremely flexible. This is a big deal for the midsize drop-top, which previously sat on the same platform as the C-Class, making it rather short and cramped compared to its competitors. It’s also roomier than ever and equipped with the company’s latest technology.
2018 Brabus E700
In the event that you’re unhinged enough to think that the Mercedes-AMG E 63 is still in need of more power, there’s a certain German tuner that knows a thing or two about giving you what you want. We all know what Brabus is capable of. The company has established itself as one of the pre-eminent Mercedes tuners of the world. It has a long list of Mercedes and AMG models that have been worked on and turned into machines of fortune. The 2018 Mercedes E-Class is one of the latest models to get included in that list, and it’s packing a wallop with 700 horsepower at its disposal.
CarWow Pits the BMW M5 Against the Mercedes-AMG E63 S and It’s Amazing
Putting the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-AMG E63 S in close proximity to one another is like trying to put a liberal and a Republican in the same room. It can be done, but words will be said and punches thrown – in the end, someone is going home with a bruised ego and a story that will undoubtedly get tagged as fake news. Well, CarWow didn’t have any liberals or republicans to cage up, but they did have an F90 M5 and an AMG E63 S at their disposal so they did what any self-respecting car guys would do: They Raced.
It wasn’t just any race, either. We’re talking about two of the worlds finest performance cars with a thirst to prove that each is better than the other. The M5, for example, runs a 4.4-liter V-8 that’s good for 600 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, all of which is routed through an eight-speed automatic paired with an M-Tuned AWD system. In the other lane sate an AMG E63 S with a 4.0-liter V08 that’s good for 603 ponies and 627 pound-feet. It, however, has a nine-speed automatic paired with an AWD system. On paper, the Merc looks like it’ll have just a slight advantage with those three extra horses and 74 pound-feet of torque – if nothing else it can probably win a burnout contest if you switch it into drift mode.
I’m not going to break down the whole battle for you, but you might be surprised by the results. Or, you might not. It certainly is a close battle, and it might have you on the edge of your seat if this kind of thing is something you’re really into. Check it out and let us know what you think of the results in the comments section below!
Mercedes to Join Volvo, Cadillac, and Porsche in the Car Subscription Business with the "Mercedes me Flexperience" Subscription Program
Mercedes-Benz is joining a host of other automakers in offering a new kind of ownership experience that will allow customers to drive the car of their dreams without actually owning them. Just like Volvo, Cadillac, and Porsche, the German automaker is in the final stages of developing a pilot program for a flat-rate vehicle subscription service, called “Mercedes me Flexperience.” The goal of this is service is to offer an alternative way to “owning” a Mercedes without actually having to buy it outright. The program is already available in a few countries, but it could also find its way into the U.S. as early as this year.

It’s the stuff of which nightmares are made.
The Mercedes-AMG E63 S is a growling, snorting, roaring monster designed to haunt your dreams.
While the E Class upon which it is based is a sedate, elegant luxury car, the folks at AMG have more sinister intentions for the midsize car. It starts under the hood, where one AMG engine builder hand-assembles a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with direct gasoline injection. That 603-horsepower heart puts power to the ground at all four wheels via a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission and will do the zero-to-60 sprint in 3.3 seconds.
Like I said, it’s a monster.
2019 Mercedes-AMG E53 Cabriolet
Introduced in 2016, the latest-generation E-Class gained coupe and convertible versions in 2017. The latter arrived in the U.S. for the 2018 model year, but just one trim is offered over here, the range-topping E400. Unlike its sedan sibling, the Cabriolet model has yet to receive the AMG E63 treatment, but Mercedes used the model to launch a new vehicle lineup under the "AMG" badge. It’s called the E53 Cabriolet and was introduced at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show alongside the E53 Coupe and the CLS53.
Slotted under the bonkers AMG E63, the E53 is essentially a milder version of the brand’s hardcore model. It has a rather subdued exterior appearance that’s not as aggressive, but the interior gets plenty of exclusive details and extra features. The drivetrain is different too, as the 4.0-liter V-8 was replaced by a 3.0-liter inline-six unit. But the big news is that the E53 is the first hybrid AMG nameplate, sporting the company’s new EQ Boost system. Let’s find out more about that in the review below.

2019 Mercedes-AMG E53 Coupe
Introduced for the 2018 model year, the latest E-Class Coupe is currently the most advanced midsize two-door on the premium market. Its mission is significantly easier now that BMW is discontinuing the 6 Series, but Mercedes still deserves credit for the E-Class’ tremendous technology package, the luxurious interior, and the sporty looks. An AMG E63 variant is the only thing that the E-Class Coupe needed to be perfect, and it was expected to arrive sometime in 2018. But in a surprising turn of events, Mercedes-Benz launched a different AMG model. It’s called the E53 and uses a six-cylinder engine instead of the more traditional V-8.
Launched alongside similar versions of the E-Class Cabriolet and CLS, the AMG E53 Coupe bridges the gap between the range-topping non-AMG model and the AMG E63, the latter available in sedan form only as of January 2018. Specifically, it’s not as aggressive as the E63, but it comes with an array of extra standard features inside and out, as well as a slightly more aggressive exterior. The engine is also unique to this model and features a mild hybrid system, a first for an AMG. It’s not yet clear whether a full-blown AMG E63 version will follow, but until that happens, the E53 is the most powerful variant of the E-Class Coupe you can buy.

2019 Mercedes-AMG E53 Proves That the Little Things Can Make a Model Stand Out
The Mercedes-AMG E53 is the latest addition to a growing lineup of E-Class models that are getting the full-blown AMG treatment. There are plenty of highlights to go around as far as the AMG E53 is concerned. one of these highlights is Mercedes’ new 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six engine with EQ Boost. The inclusion of the engine is one of the major talking points about the model, but like most tech-infused cars these days, there are small details in some of these cars that don’t get the attention they deserve. We’re changing that here by highlighting a few nifty features hidden inside the AMG 53 that some of you might have missed, including a push button inside the trunk that does some serious work for you.
Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet Gets the AMG E53 Treatment in Detroit
Mercedes-Benz came to the 2018 Detroit Auto Show with no fewer than four new vehicles. But while the G-Class is a brand-new SUV under that familiar skin, the other three are based on existing models. But they all wear a new "AMG 53" badge that will replace the existing "AMG 43" denomination. The new lineup made its debut on the recently unveiled CLS and the two-door versions of the latest E-Class, the Coupe and Cabriolet. The AMG E53 Cabriolet is the first drop-top to wear the new badge, as Mercedes has yet to launch an E63 variant, so it’s the most powerful iteration of the current E-Class convertible yet.
Mercedes-AMG E53 Coupe Hits Detroit as the Most Powerful Two-Door E-Class Yet
Mercedes-Benz used the 2018 Detroit Auto Show to introduce a new line of AMG-badges cars. The new series is dubbed E53 and its main feat is that it has a hybrid engine, which makes it the first electrified production model line from Affalterbach. The new E53 lineup includes three model for now, one of which is the E-Class Coupe. It’s called the Mercedes-AMG E53 Coupe and in the absence of a full-blown E63 version, it’s the most potent E-Class Coupe to date!
2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Cabriolet - Quick Drive
The Florida air finally fell below 70 degrees as November closed out. The crispness isn’t common in these parts, though convertibles are a dime a dozen. Perhaps just as rare as the cool breeze – at least until sales escalate to full-force – is the all-new 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Cabriolet. This is Mercedes’ newest E-Class drop-top and it closely impersonates the new-for-2017 E-Class sedan. The car looks like a baby S-Class and drives like one, too. It’s also dead quiet inside with its thickly insulated soft top in place. But quiet isn’t fun; I held the switch up as the blue canvas quickly tucked itself away ahead of the trunk. Push another button and wind deflectors behind the rear seats and atop the windshield deploy to keep the wood-trimmed cabin a bit more serene. More buttons heat the leather-trimmed seats and even sends warm air across my neck from the vented headrest Mercedes calls its AirScarf. I welcomed the 55-degree night with open arms, an open top, and blast down the Interstate.
Aside from its exceptionally warm heated seats and lovely AirScarf system, the new E-Class Cabriolet makes an impressive cruiser. Its new chassis is rock-solid and the optional “Air Body Control” suspension are a well-made match. The same is true for the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 and the nine-speed automatic transmission. Smoothness and poise are major themes here. Sadly, I only had a few days with the E400. I could have easily spent the next few years smelling the fragranced HVAC system and cutting through the night with the wind through my hair.

Watch This Stripped Mercedes Get Pounded by Potholes
Warped Perception, the Discovery Channel and YouTube show known for filming interesting stuff in super slow motion and with high-def cameras, has beaten the last breath of life from a tired Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The goal: to film the suspension as it rebounds from going over cringe-worthy potholes in a neglected urban street.
The video shows the Mercedes’ MacPherson strut going though a full compression cycle multiple times over just a short distance of road while the control arms swing wildly around their rubber bushings. The stripped down Merc clearly isn’t having fun; every little part is reeling from the shocks and making the unibody car do the wave like teens at a concert. Most surprising is the lateral forces seen acting on the wheel and tire as the car turns slightly while mid-bump. In fact, the forces are too much for the dry rotten tires could take. Both the front and rear tires pop and the sidewalls slam into the broken asphalt – and it’s all captured on 4K slow-motion video.
The Mercedes-AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept Is All Set For Its Hollywood Debut
Justice League is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year, and a film of this magnitude is going to attract a lot of heavy, cross-brand promotional partnerships. This kind of collaboration is particularly prevalent in the superhero film genre. We’ve seen Audis in the Iron Man movies, and Avengers: Age of Ultron and Acura in the Thor movies, and The Avengers. The massive audiences generated by these movies is the perfect place for publicity and, with Justice League scheduled to hit theaters on November 17, Mercedes-Benz will be prominently featured in the movie, specifically the Mercedes-AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept.
Yep. The same virtual car that the Silver Arrows presented back in 2013 for the Gran Turismo video game is now a movie star. Ok, that’s not entirely true because it’s not actually top-billing the movie., but it will play a prominent role as Bruce Wayne’s very own daily driver because that’s just how Batman rolls. Joining the Vision Gran Turismo Concept in the movie is the E-Class Cabriolet, which will be driven by no less than Diana Prince herself, who we know more popularly as Wonder Woman. The two Mercedes vehicles will play starring roles in the automaker’s partnership with the DC movie blockbuster, but it also won’t be Merc’s only involvement in the promotion of the movie. A series of commercials centered around Justice League will also be shown in the lead-up to the movie’s hyped up release. We literally have a little over a month before Justice League hits theaters all over the world so keep an eye out on all the Mercedes commercials featuring our favorite superhero in the coming weeks. The first one, called “Hard to Resist,” has already aired, and we can see it in all its glory in the video below.
