Top Gear America is returning for a third iteration. The popular automotive show is set to come back in the U.S. with three new hosts — Dax Shepard, Rob Corddry, and Jethro Bovingdon — and a new viewing platform.

Previously distributed by NBC and A+E Networks, the new version of Top Gear America will be offered by the BBC Studios in partnership with the MotorTrend Group. The show will air on the MotorTrend App, the latter’s streaming service, starting in the spring of 2020. You’ll need to pay a $4.99 monthly subscription fee to gain access to the show, but it’s not just Top Gear America that you’ll have access to. A litany of Top Gear content will also be available for viewing, including more than 170 episodes of the parent Top Gear show.

Top Gear USA, the show that somehow ran for six seasons without enough people caring about it, is gone. Not a lot of people noticed, though, because the show really wasn’t all that good. But give credit where it’s due, because if for nothing else, the BBC has shown itself yet again to be one that doesn’t give up too quickly. And so, here we are, a full month away from the debut of Top Gear America, and from the looks of things, it’s already promising loads of potential.

Gone are Tanner Foust, Adam Ferrara, and Rutledge Wood. In their place comes actor and gear head William Fichtner, champion drag racer Antron Brown, and Top Gear Magazine contributing editor Tom “Wookie” Ford. A case can be made that the new hosting trio fits more into the core vibe of Top Gear, but to be fair, it’s a little too early to start riding on their coattails. That said, the new 30-second trailer of the show looks intriguing, to say the least. We get to see plenty of supercars in action. We get to see Fichtner in a BAC Mono ordering some fast food, Ford taking the Acura NSX for a run, and Brown going face-to-face with The Stig, who we presume is the nephew of Top Gear USA’s Stig. The show debuts on Sunday, July 30 at 8 P.M. on BBC America. Circle the date, folks. Top Gear America is coming, and it looks mighty promising.

Just because the names and faces have changed doesn’t mean Top Gear has changed with the times. It’s still a magnet for controversy, and just as sure as summer months bring unbearable heat, the show’s latest dive into hot water has found itself on the naughty list of the Norwegian government. According to The Drive, representatives of Norway’s Public Roads Administration revoked the show’s permit to go past speed limits in the country after magnetic loop speed sensors embedded in the road captured instances of cars used by Top Gear doing speed runs well beyond what was allowed in the permit. The show’s permit required it to not go past 87 mph on public roads, but these same speed sensors caught separate instances of cars from Top Gear going as fast as 151 mph. Oops.

The issue is currently under investigation by police authorities in the country, so said Møre og Romsdal police inspector, Anne Berit Lian, who told local news outlet TV2 that it’s natural for law enforcement officials to “investigate whether these speed overruns have been committed in the period when the road has been closed and has been used for filming.” For its part, the BBC has also come out with a statement of its own, telling The Drive that the network and the show are “fully cooperating with the police investigation into the matter.” It is worth noting, too, that neither Matt LeBlanc nor Chris Harris were in the area where the alleged speed infractions occurred.

In a move that comes as a surprise to a lot of people, BBC America has announced the return of Top Gear USA. I have an idea what the reaction is to this news. “Top Gear USA is gone?” To that I say “yes,” Top Gear USA - the same one that was hosted by Tanner Foust, Andrew Ferrara, and Rutledge Wood - ended its run on the History Channel in 2016 after finishing its contract with the network. The fact that the show wasn’t renewed speaks to how unfavorably it was received so it is a little surprising even to those who followed the show that BBC America is bringing the show back, rechristening it as Top Gear America.

But it’s true. Top Gear America is coming and it’s bringing with it a fresh cast of hosts headlined by William Finchter, the same guy who has starred in movies like Black Hawk Down, The Dark Knight, and Armaggedon and the TV show Prison Break. Joining Finchter will be three-time NHRA Top Fuel Division world champion and Tom “Wookie” Ford, the current Associate Editor of Top Gear Magazine and the former Road Test Editor of CAR Magazine. And, before his Chinese cousin starts beating us up, it’s best to mention that The Stig will also be part of the revamped show.

As far as the format goes, the show is expected to follow the traditional template of Top Gear, right down to the cars, the celebrities, and the all-too predictable mishaps that have become a staple of the show’s ethos. No timetable has been set for when the Top Gear America will make its debut, but we do know that it will now be shown on BBC America and not The History Channel.

Let’s be real for a minute; American-made car shows are pretty much crap compared to some of the shows from abroad. Not all of them are complete flops, however, and that was proven by Top Gear USA. It didn’t exactly compete with its BBC counterpart with Clarkson, Hammond, and May, but as far as American shows go, it was one of the better ones out there. That said, it appears that we’re about to lose the best of the bunch.

We didn’t hear about this in a press release from the History Channel or from some large entertainment news outlet. We got the word directly from Rutledge Wood, via a Twitter post that – in part – said. “I’m very sad to say, but Tuesday night’s #TopGear on @History is the last TG US that we have shot for you. I’m not saying Top Gear USA is done, but it’s done for the immediate future on @History"

While Wood made it a point to say it may not be the last one, and even said that he and the two hosts will “stick together” and are hoping to bring us “much more Top Gear USA. That does sound a little promising, but it looks like the History Channel and the rest of the A&E Networks family doesn’t want TG USA any longer. So, while Wood hinted toward the show having a future on another network, it doesn’t appear that it will happen any time soon unless another network picks up the show in a hurry.

Unless you have been living under the world’s largest rock, you should be well aware that Top Gear is coming back to your television screens in just a few days for Series 22. To lead up to this momentous new series, the Top Gear gang got together for a new style of preview they called “An Evening With Top Gear.”

In this talk show-style program that was broadcast around the internets, you get a chance to chat with the presenters, ask questions live and get a peek at what is coming for Series. If you have an hour of time, it is certainly worth the watch. The boys take supercars to Australia to be cattle farmers, race across St. Petersburg in Russia, have a race against Top Gear USA, and test cars like the Lamborghini Huracán, BMW i8, and the Ferrari LaFerrari. It’s all incredible and I can’t wait.

There are lots of great questions asked, and the presenters share a lot of fun stories and special moments from their time during the production run of the program. Just stop reading and press play. I promise it’s worth the time.

The new series starts next Sunday January 25th in the UK on BBC2.

Top Gear USA is finally back for its Season 4 premiere this Tuesday, September 3rd at 8pm on History Channel. The season looks outstanding, starting off with a bang via a top speed run through the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado in a McLaren, Lamborghini and SRT Viper.

The show is, of course, the American version of the legendary BBC TopGear formula, which finally took the dull and nap-inducing American car show equivalents (like MotorWeek), and sent them to the crusher.

This high-budget thrill-ride of a television show maintains the production values, incredible locations/filming methods, and finally the creativity to successfully re-launch the series with American tastes in mind. This season: out goes the boring Big Star Small Car and studio shoots - and in goes even more awesome driving action.

Central to this humorous and personality-oriented approach to cars, part of what makes Top Gear USA such a must-watch television show is the manly camaraderie and mischief of these three car guys.

Rutledge, Tanner and Adam almost could not be more different, but over the first three seasons, a real bond is forming among them that is funny and entertaining to enjoy. Watching the show makes you feel like one of the gang, and the guys are all very social in reality on Twitter and in the blogs.

Each Top Gear USA host brings a special verve and energy to the show’s sometimes-difficult driving challenges, which is pretty easy considering these gents are a cool 20 years younger than Clarkson, Hammond and May.

The adventures are many, and Top Gear USA should be on the DVR of all car guys in America and abroad. This series really gets the magic formula right, with enough laughs and stunning cars to make every hour event television.

Top Gear USA may not have the cache of its original UK counterparts, but make no mistake, it’s no accident that they’re already in deep into their third season.

So they must be doing something right, and wouldn’t you know it, they didn’t wait until the season to show exactly why Top Gear USA is becoming popular on these shores.

The show returns on January 29th on the History Channel and we’re one of the many that are excited to see what kind of antics and shenanigans Tanner Foust, Rutledge Wood, and Adam Ferrara have up their sleeves this season.

If the preview of Top Gear USA is any indication, we expect a whole lot of automotive love from these presenters. Maybe not to the point of taking the cars out on their dates, celebrating birthday parties, or God forbid, even marrying one, but enough to validate exactly why we love this show - in all of its formats.

After Jeremy Clarkson confirmed a few months ago that Top Gear U.K. wouldn’t be returning until 2013, we had all our hopes rested on the USA version to deliver our Top Gear fix. Thankfully, they’ve come through for us, recently confirming that the third series of Top Gear USA will hit American screens on August 14 at 9pm eastern time.

Six episodes will air in the lead up to 2013, and after the New Year, a further 10 episodes will conclude the third season, totaling 16 episodes all together.

Co-presenter Rutledge Wood confirmed the news recently via his Twitter account stating “So happy it’s out! #TopGear on@HistoryChannel returns Aug 14th 9pm! 6 New shows, then 10 more after new year! You guys will love them!”

We have no idea what the trio of presenters have planned for us this time around, but it’s sure to be an epic season full of all the crazy adventures that the second half of the second season delivered. Add to that the always enjoyable segments of Big Star Small Car and new performance tests, and there’s no question that season 3 of Top Gear USA should be the best yet.

Think of February 14, 2012. To many, this is a day of chocolates, candy, hearts, and flowers, but to car enthusiasts, this is the day when Top Gear USA gets back into action. That’s right, Top Gear USA has moved to Tuesdays and its third season will commence on the most popular day for love.

As usual, the show will be hosted by comedian Adam Ferrara, rally and drift racer Tanner Foust, and motorsport analyst Ruttledge Wood. The new teaser video for the show’s third season, however, stars none other than their top secret racing driver, The Stig, as he sets a new "unofficial" lap record of 1:21.4 seconds for TopGear USA while driving a Corvette ZR1 tuned by Hennessey. A masked man with a super speedy chariot? This may be just enough for all the men in the world to convince their loved ones of staying in on Valentine’s Day to catch the first episode of the season.

This week’s episode of Top Gear is probably the most disgusting episode we have ever seen. The guys were faced with the challenge of finding the best car for $500 and driving them 500 miles from Santa Monica to Twin Peaks in San Francisco. At first, we could only imagine just how crappy these cars were, then the Top Gear crew let us know.

In addition to the foul $500 car challenge, Ruttledge Wood was given the chance to review the scintillating Cadillac CTS-V in all three body styles: coupe, sedan, and wagon. The wagon was by far Rutt’s favorite and he was absolutely clear on that.

We were also treated to Maroon 5’s Adam Levine as he cruised around the Top gear test track in the show’s Suzuki SX4. His driving may not have been top notch, but he was extremely successful at cursing up a storm.

Right off the bat, we have to admit that this week’s episode of Top Gear USA was a lot funnier than any other episode this season. The majority of the episode was spent trying to figure out which of the three hosts chose a better luxury car. However, instead of being the long and drawn out segment as found in previous episodes, this challenge made us laugh out loud a few times. The guys were driving around the Hamptons in a 1972 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, a 1982 Jaguar XJS, and a 1988 Pontiac Fiero turned Ferrari 308. Oh yeah, the Hamptonites just loved that.

In between the search for the best luxury car for $5,000, Tanner Foust got to take a spin in "the Beast," the Porsche 911 GT2 RS and Torchwood star, Arlene Tur took a speedy trip around the Top Gear test track in the Suzuki SX4.
