Redesigned on a brand-new platform, the second-gen Evoque ditched its old Ford-sourced engines and adopted JLR’s new four-cylinder diesels. More importantly, almost all drivetrains are now 48-volt mild hybrids, with a plug-in hybrid set to join the lineup in 2019. Land Rover took a rather evolutionary approach to the Evoque’s design inside the out, so it remains familiar. The redesign is more of the facelift variety styling-wise, but everything is new under the shell.

Back in 2012, the Range Rover Evoque was a radical departure. This Land Rover sub-brand made a name for itself with powerful, comfortable SUVs, with big, boxy, classic styling. The “Baby Range Rover” Evoque was a subcompact crossover with a sleek silhouette and tiny windows. It looked like a bold concept car that instead hit the streets. The bet paid off — the Evoque not only brought new customers into the Range Rover fold, but it successfully previewed the brand’s direction. This once-radical face now adorns the Range Rover Velar, Range Rover Sport, and even the flagship original Range Rover.
What the 2012 Evoque didn’t have was perfect luxury-grade substance. It was a head-turning little luxury SUV upholstered in expensive leather, but built from old Ford parts. Buyers who fell in love with the looks had to live with mediocre ride, handling, and acceleration, to say nothing of its cramped cabin and tight outward visibility. And while many buyers happily did so, Land Rover redesigned the Evoque this year to improve its substance without compromising its style.
We recently spent a week in the redesigned 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque (apologies for the long name) to evaluate how well the company did. We found it to be improved but still imperfect: loyal owners should have nothing but praise for the changes, and there are enough improvements to bring in some new buyers to the fold. But purely on substance, we’d be hard-pressed to call the Evoque a leader in the cutthroat subcompact luxury SUV segment, particularly at above-average prices that start above $42,650. Let’s discuss why.
Chinese Automaker Jiangling Forced to Stop Production of its Range Rover Evoque Copy
Jaguar Land Rover has been fighting a lengthy and tedious legal battle against Jiangling Motor Corporation (JMC) from China it initiated when the company launched a model that very closely resembled its Range Rover Evoque. The copycat model is called the Landwind X7, and it has been in production uninterrupted since 2015, but now, a Beijing court has ordered the automaker to stop making the X7.

The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Adds Extra Luxury and Mild-Hybrid Power to the Off-Roader Segment
Compact luxury crossovers are all the rage these days, and Land Rover is taking advantage with a second generation for the Range Rover Evoque. The updated premium high-rider just dropped onto U.S. shores at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show, and it’s looking to mate green tech and top-shelf amenities with rough-stuff capability.
Buyers cross shopping between the new Range Rover Evoque and BMW X2 are looking at two different answers to the same question: What is a rakish-looking, almost coupe-like crossover that is striking to behold, fun to drive and posh to sit in? They’re about the same size, even though the Evoque looks bigger because it is more squared off, but they actually provide a very different experience for driver and occupants.
Firstly, the X2 feels like a very well sorted hatchback to drive, and you can throw it into corners with a fair bit of confidence. On the other hand, it is pretty much useless off-road going over anything more severe than a potholed country road. The Range Rover Evoque is decent to drive on tarmac, but it’s only average in this respect, however, it wipes the floor with the X2 when it comes to any kind of tougher off-roading.
They look and feel different and also address different buyers with different needs, even though they will be cross shopped and compared against one another. The fact of the matter is, they’re so different, it’s quite possible that somebody who really likes one, will absolutely hate the other. It probably all boils down to where and how you want to use it, although realistically very few buyers will actually take advantage of the Evoque’s off-road qualities, and just potter around the city in it, an application where the X2 is probably better.

I do not want to sound like a chauvinist, but it seems that both of these machines do play a game to win women’s’ hearts. I am not making this up. And, back in the day when Range Rover revealed its first Evoque, it employed Victoria Beckham to design some details of the interior. There is only one massive change compared with the cars of before - the Audi grew by quite a bit. The Evoque did not. At all. The Evoque just became Land Rovers first mild hybrid vehicle and a plug-in model is even on the way. New screens adorn the updated dashboard inside but what really stuck out to me was the new hybrid rear view mirror.
Land Rover Spent Almost £1 Billion To Give the Evoque a Mild Facelift and New Technology
Land Rover chose Thanksgiving day to debut the new Range Rover Evoque and here we are looking at a model that, at a glance, received a very mild, even somewhat Audi-like, facelift. Below this mildly changed skin, however, Land Rover claims it has spent nearly £1 Billion to refine the architecture underneath with the goal of making it suitable for electrification.
The interior is also littered with plenty of high-end tech, including two high-definition touchscreen displays, refined infotainment software, and artificial intelligence. Powertrain options include a range of diesel and gasoline engines. The entry-level model (the D150 trim) is the only model available with a six-speed manual and is the only model available without Land Rover’s mild hybrid technology. Towing capacity ranges anywhere between 3,527 and 4,409 pounds depending on trim and equipment level.
Why is the Range Rover Evoque the only convertible SUV on sale now?
Range Rover is the only manufacturer to offer a drop top high riding vehicle that comes with a posh electric retractable hardtop and, while you may not immediately feel like you want one, the formula isn’t without appeal. That’s why it’s surprising to me that there is just one model that you can buy if you are in the market for such a vehicle. At least until the smaller Volkswagen T-Roc Cabrio hits the market, anyway.

Victoria Beckham Didn’t Design The Range Rover Evoque After All
The truth finally comes out, at least for those who probably weren’t aware of it from the very beginning. Victoria Beckham, the ex-Spice Girl and current Mrs. David Beckham, was in no way responsible for the design of the Range Rover Evoque. In fact, Beckham didn’t even do much in the way of actually designing the Evoque, so says the man who actually did design the SUV. Land Rover design director Gerry McGovern minced no words in finally clarifying a years-old rumor, telling The Daily Mail that Beckham exaggerated the role she played in designing the Evoque.
“I’ve forgotten more than that woman will ever know about designing – to be a car designer takes years,” McGovern said in the most direct and emphatic take-down of Beckham’s rumored involvement in the design of the SUV. The design chief was apparently irked when Beckham told the world during the Evoque’s unveiling in China five years ago that she was the one who designed the car and wasn’t mindful of the fact that she was only there to lend her name and star power to the crossover. To be fair, Beckham did have some input on the Evoque, although that was limited to the special edition model that bore her name. Even then, the company briefed the former pop star that the alterations she could make would be limited to “restrained color and detail changes” and not actually overhauling the car’s overall design. So there you have it. The mystery surrounding Victoria Beckham’s involvement in the actual design of the Range Rover Evoque has been answered.

2016 Range Rover Evoque By Hamann
Ever since it made its debut in 2011, the Range Rover Evoque has quickly become one of Land Rover’s most popular models. On top of the Evoque’s sales success, the SUV’s popularity has extended into the aftermarket scene, having been the subject of numerous tuning programs from specialists like Kahn Design, Milner, and Startech, among others. Hamann also counts itself as a proud tuner of the Evoque, having just presented its latest upgrade package for the crossover that includes modest engine upgrades across a handful of Evoque variants. The most potent of these upgrades is for the Evoque Si4, which sees its output increase modestly from 240 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque to 256 horses and 291 pound-feet of twist.
In addition to the Si4, the TD4, eD4, and SD4 versions of the Evoque also received their respective bumps in power. There’s also a modest aero kit for all versions of the crossover, as well as a personalized interior option, a new set of wheels, and new sports springs to aid in the suspension.
This program isn’t the type of kit that can turn the Evoque into a high-riding performance vehicle. The upgrade themselves are subtle and, if you’re the type to want something spectacular, this kit is probably not for you. But, if you want to refine your Evoque in all facets without losing its sporting character, Hamann’s tuning program is a good choice to have. There’s not much style and flair here; just plenty of substance all around.

2017 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Ember Limited Edition
Land Rover knows it has a hit product with the Range Rover Evoque. That’s evident by the numerous versions it offers, including the coupe, five-door, and convertible. Well, Land Rover is adding something else – not quite a new body style – but a special edition that features a red and black theme. It’s called the Ember Edition.
"We wanted to give the Range Rover Evoque Ember Limited Edition a sporty feel,” says Phil Simmons, Land Rover’s Studio Director for Exterior Design Realization. “Contrasting the intensity of the Firenze Red with Santorini Black really shows off the Evoque’s stand-out proportions."
The Evoque Ember Edition not only sports a bespoke appearance, it also features JLR’s next-generation infotainment software. Land Rover says this is in response to custom demand for greater connectivity. We say it’s in response to the betterment of infotainment systems across the automotive landscape. Range Rover is supposed to be a cutting-edge brand, remember?
The updated InControl Touch Pro infotainment system features a new 10.2-inch tablet-style touch screen with “pinch ‘n’ zoom” capabilities and runs streetview map options and a customizable home screen. We expect to see this hardware and software upgrade rapidly expand through JLR’s portfolio over the next few model years.
Visually, the Range Rover Evoque Ember Edition calls attention to itself via a Firenze Red roof color that contrasts a Santorini black body color. Unique badging further defines the look. Now Land Rover is throwing the ivories again with the upcoming Range Rover Evoque Convertible. That’s right, a drop-top Range Rover.
Land Rover officially teased the Evoque Convertible with a short theatrical video showing the open-air crossover driving through the Crossrail tunnel system – a network of 26 miles of tunnels still under construction some 130 feet below the streets of London.
Apparently dismissing the failed attempt at a convertible crossover by Nissan with its Murano Crosscabriolet, Land Rover has released the Evoque Convertible for the 2017 model year just ahead of the vehicle’s official debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard plans of its production, however. Its first debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show had rumors flying about a 2013 production.
It will be interesting to see if the convertible crossover segment catches on now that Land Rover is taking a stab. Perhaps those predisposed to buying a funky yet luxurious and capable Evoque will embrace the Evoque Convertible as something more fun.

Updated 10/02/2015: Land Rover displayed a series of wireframe sculptures outside prestigious London locations in order to preview the world’s first luxury compact SUV convertible. The wireframes were made on a 1:1 scale and want to give the public a chance to see how the Evoque Convertible will look in its natural urban environment. An official debut of the Evoque Convertible is set to be unveiled in November.

Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communications will both play an integral role when fully autonomous vehicles become a reality, but until then, Jaguar Land Rover is showing that these technologies could have a more practical use in the short term. The automaker is looking to use connected car technology as a means of identifying and rerouting cars around serious road hazards such as potholes or damaged manhole covers in an aptly named system called Pothole Alert.
The proposed system works by using sensors built into the MagneRide suspension system (found on the 2016 Range Rover Evoque and 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport models), which is designed to scan the road to continuously adjust suspension tuning for a smoother, more comfortable ride. Piggybacking on this, JLR thinks that its MagneRide system will also be able to detect such hazards and share it with other drivers, but down the road, JLR is also looking to build on this safety feature by actively scanning the road ahead of the vehicle using a forward-facing stereo camera.
As part of the research and testing of this technology, JLR is working with its hometown municipality to find ways for this tech to benefit government entities who can then (hopefully) fix the problem faster. In this testing, the Coventry City Council will use data collected by JLR research to see how it can be used by cities to stay ahead of problematic road conditions. Theoretically, Pothole Alert can provide road crews with the severity of potholes and the exact GPS location to better prioritize which hazards should be addressed first.

It might not be officially confirmed, but the rumors of Land Rover offering an SVR version its Range Rover Evoque are growing in intensity. This time the gossip is coming from down under. Australia’s Motorring reports the souped-up version of the Evoque is likely due out after Jaguar has its turn with JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations divisions.

We’ve already reported that Land Rover’s design directed and chief creative officer, Gerry McGovern, has said “nothing is off the table” in regards to the SVO’s involvement in the Land Rover lineup, even concerning hopped-up SVR and SVAutobiography versions of nearly every Range Rover vehicle.
“I’m not saying ‘no’ to anything because the whole reason for the Special Vehicle Operations is to take all these different families and actually do versions on all of them,” he said. And though we can expect a new version of the Evoque to hit showrooms by 2018, McGovern says the platform still has a lot of life left in it.
As far as what we can expect, the SVO team have already created an SVR edition Range Rover Sport. The Sport’s 5.0-liter V-8 got an additional 40 horsepower and 41 pound-feet of torque for a total of 550 horses and 502 pound-feet. Perhaps the SVO team would bump the Evoque’s 2.0-liter turbo’s output from 240 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque to a more seductive 300 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque.

With the luxury crossover SUV segment growing rapidly, Land Rover is looking to keep up with the Joneses. Reportedly, Land Rover will release a lengthened version of the Evoque by the end of 2016 to compete in this segment.
The Range Rover Evoque debuted in the 2012 model year in the U.S. to plenty of fanfare. It has quickly found a home as the brand’s third hottest-selling model in the U.S. behind the Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover. The global sales of the Evoque are even more impressive, as it has reached 125,000 units sold, despite initial estimate placing it at just 35,000 units per year. Basing a gap-filling SUV on the 2016 Evoque seems like a logical way to boost sales and hit a hot segment in which the brand struggles to compete.

The news comes from Land Rover’s design director and chief creative officer, Gerry McGovern, in an interview with Australia’s CarAdvice. “I’m not saying no to anything because the whole reason for the Special Vehicle Operations is to take all these different families and actually do versions on all of them,” McGovern says.
He continued saying that SVO isn’t necessarily about offering something better, but rather offering choices to the customer. That could include special limited-production runs of 150 units down to one-off examples.
Like the recently announced Range Rover SVAutobiography, McGovern confirmed the upcoming SVAutobiography models will also feature more power than their standard counterparts, though details were spared. For reference, the Range Rover received a 40-horsepower increase.
In regards to the Evoque Convertible, McGovern says it will act as a halo model, not only for the Evoque, but also for the brand. “It’s just another string to the bow,” he surmises. The creative officer continued saying that when the original Evoque Convertible concept was shown at Geneva in 2012, the response what so positive there was no question whether it should be built. He concludes saying the company only needed to confirm its financial viability before giving the drop-top the green light.

Other than the styling changes being made to the entire 2016 Evoque lineup, the drop-top Range Rover looks almost identical to the concept that debuted at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Before it goes on sale next year, though, Land Rover engineers still have testing to do, and that’s where our spy photographers were able to snap some good exterior shots of the new model.
The new convertible model was caught putting laps on the famed Nürburgring in Germany as well as some last-minute testing in Sweden before the snow melts. Thanks to the extensive squiggly-lined camouflage wrap, there really isn’t much new to see, but it does show the Evoque Convertible at angles other than the strategically photographed images Land Rover has already released.
The spy shots do provide us with our first look at the rear of the production design, which seems to differ slightly from the concept with a more squared-off rear end and a pronounced spoiler. More importantly, these shots show what the Range Rover Evoque convertible will look like with the retractable soft top in the raised position. One thing that is still unclear is how the rear-seat accommodations will be affected, but at least the production version won’t have this prototype’s full roll cage.

No doubt Land Rover rolled the dice when it built the Range Rover Evoque – the small crossover with looks unlike anything it had ever built before. The crossover came in both four- and two-door version, the latter of which elevated the gamble even further. Now Land Rover is throwing the ivories again with the upcoming Range Rover Evoque Convertible. That’s right, a drop-top Range Rover.
Introduced in 2012 to give the luxury SUV brand a secure spot in the growing compact-luxury-crossover realm, the Evoque quickly became insanely popular. In 2014, the brand made some light changes with the introduction of a new nine-speed auto transmission. Now with the 2016 model year just around the corner, the British automaker has revealed nearly all of the details on the new Evoque ahead of its 2015 Geneva Auto Show debut.
The visual updates are limited to just a few nips and tucks here and there, with the most instantly noticeable being the updates headlights. When the automaker first released the teaser image of the small SUV, it made mention of a new line of engines. However, those new engines are not for U.S. consumption, so don’t get your hopes up yet.
With newcomers like the Mercedes-Benz GLA and the Audi Q3 now in the mix, can the Land Rover Evoque continue to sell so well across the globe?

It’s not unusual for automakers to pay homage to their own history, incorporating throw-back Easter eggs that appeal to the brand loyal. Well, Land Rover has done something similar with the Range Rover Evoque, but with a slight twist. The Evoque NW8 special edition pays tribute to the historic creative district in Northwest London. You’ll likely recall the area on the iconic cover of the Beatles’ Abbey Road album. In fact, the NW8 designation of this special edition is that area’s postal code.
The homage to Abbey Road continues deeper as the Evoque’s treadplates, seat tags, and key fob are all adorned with a similar “zebra” pattern as the white roadway markings. Further setting the Evoque NW8 apart is its red-colored roof, mirror caps, and Range Rover lettering that contrast the Fuji White body color. The front grille, side vents, window accents and 20-inch wheels are all coated in black.
Land Rover is positioning the Evoque NW8 as a highly exclusive model, with only 1,000 set for production.

Nothing is life is a certainty; that’s especially true in what the future holds in the automotive world. Just last week I wrote about Land Rover’s Program Chief Murray Dietsch saying an SVR-badged Range Rover Evoque wasn’t in the works. Sadly, he said such a vehicle would be “cost prohibitive” and could not meet the high performance expectations set forth by SVR engineers. However, since nothing is a guarantee, what if JLR actually moved forward with the build? Behold TopSpeed’s idea of a 2016 Range Rover Evoque SVR.
Looking a lot like its big brother, the Range Rover Sport, the Evoque SVR gets a revamped grille, larger side vents, a new wheel and tire package, and black accents touching nearly every body panel.
The Evoque SVR is certainly not official, but we can still dream. Just imagine a track toy that can hold its own yet still trudge its way up a muddy cattle trail heading up to the hunting lodge.

I think that one of the most interesting cars made in the last decade was the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet. I love the risk and the absurdity of it, but ultimately it was a sales failure. The car was ugly, and the awkward soft top killed most of the space and utility. But this failure doesn’t seem to have deterred the fine folks at Land Rover, because a Cabrio version of the stylish Range Rover Evoque has been spotted out in the wild by the kids at Auto Express.
When the Evoque debuted a few years ago, the world swooned over its sleek and dynamic styling, and more than a few people thought it would look great without a roof. Not long after Land Rover gave the world a glimpse of what such a machine would look like when it revealed a convertible concept at Geneva. That was 2012 though, and since then there had been no real word about an open-top Evoque and the world assumed the project dead in the water. Now Auto Express is saying the production version could debut as soon as Goodwood in June.
Based on the spy shots, the production version looks nearly identical to the concept, but it gets rid of the finicky clip-on top for a more traditional electric fabric roof. If you are one of the few that really likes to test your Evoque’s off-road chops, Land Rover didn’t forget about you. Word has it that Land Rover has been hard at work creating a very advanced Roll Over Protection System that won’t inadvertently deploy when tackling a particularly rough trail.
The New convertible Evoque may bring more to the table than just a new body style. Considering the current Evoque is four years old, Auto Express speculates that the Cabrio may bring with it a design refresh for the entire family of Evoque models. With the rumors we have of the high performance Evoque SVR coupled with this news of a convertible model, the Evoque family is quickly becoming one of the most exciting models in the storied British brand’s portfolio.

If you want an SUV to haul around your family, but you enjoy the instant torque and outstanding fuel economy that comes from an oil-burning engine, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche all have great options. Now though, it seems the Germans going to have some competition soon in the market of diesel-powered crossovers thanks to a new entry from Land Rover.
While nothing is official yet, JLR North America’s vice president of marketing, Kim McCullough, told Autoguide that a diesel variant of the Range Rover Evoque is “definitely something that’s being considered.” That means that the peppy, 2.0-liter EcoBoost that was borrowed from Ford will be replaced with a new 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine. Considering the amount of power and torque that other manufactures are snagging from their 2-liter mills, it would be safe to expect no less than 160 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of twist.
The Evoque is the third-best selling model in the Land Rover family, and bringing a new more fuel efficient model to the market will only help increase sales. If this all comes to fruition, expect to see the new diesel Evoque in around 18-months time.

Land Rover’s bringing a special-edition Range Rover Evoque to the 2014 Paris Motor Show. It’s called the Evoque SW1 Special Edition and if there was ever a time that the phrase “special edition” means something, it’s this one. See, there’s something really special about the Evoque SW1, other than it being part of Jaguar and Land Rover’s new “Inspired by Britain” series of models.
The Evoque SW1 is one of the first production models to prominently feature Land Rover’s integrated laser heads-up display. It’s a really cool information display that appears onto the Evoque’s windscreen. I’m still not sure how distracting the display can be, but it does have that novelty factor attached to it.
In addition to the HUD, the Evoque SW1 also features prominent styling cues derived from its British heritage, notably the numerous appearances of the Union Jack throughout the body and cabin of the SUV.
We expect the special-edition model to hit dealerships shortly after making its debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October. Be on the look out for these special Evoque SUVs and stay tuned for the rest of JLR’s "Inspired by Britain" series.

The Range Rover Evoque may not be as imposing as the Sport or the Discovery in its bone-stock form, but take the small SUV over to Kahn Design and you’ll be driving completely new vehicle once it leaves the shop. Just take a look at the Black Label Edition the Brits launched for the 2013 model year to have a better taste of their craftsmanship.
Sure, the Black Label Edition and its triple-black suit is a tad sober for the Evoque’s shape and purpose, but there’s more than one way to skin a cat in Kahn’s workshop. For instance, the company’s most recent attempt at enhancing the Evoque showcases a sportier approach that brings together weight reducing strategies and a flamboyant look.
Cutting weight is achieved with help from a new set of carbon composite bumpers that shave a few pounds off the compact crossover that now carries a Volcanic Grey wrap. Complementing the new exterior color are a number of matte black body parts, including a trunk spoiler lip, a sump guard, a rear diffuser, and the side vents mounted on the front fenders.
As with most Kahn-badged Range Rovers, the Evoque RS Sport also benefits from a 3D mesh front grille, LED daytime running lights, an extended upper roof wing, and a stainless steel exhaust system.

The Range Rover Evoque has blown plenty of minds since its debut in 2011; yours truly included. It’s sporty, sexy, stylish, fast, luxurious and just looks mean as hell. Things just keep on getting better each and every year for the Evoque, as today, Land Rover announced an new variant of the SUV that will hit dealers in time for the 2015 model year.
Meet the 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Autobiography, which we will learn more about at the Geneva Auto show. I know, that is likely the world’s longest name, but it is well worth the length, with its higher-output engine, revised handling and bigger brakes in the Autobiography Dynamic model. Oh yeah, folks, this is no badge job that so many automakers are known for doing. Nope, Land Rover went all out in making this limited-edition Evoque one that actually adds a little extra sportiness to the lineup.
So, is the extra power and road-sticking ability enough to warrant a nice price hike?

Everyone knows that most SUVs can tackle about any road and some light off-road duty. However, when you look at the Range Rover Evoque and its elegant lines, you may think that Land Rover had something else other than off-road trekking.
If you were questioning the Evoque’s off-road capacities, the off-road specialist Milner came up with some pretty interesting concept — the LRM-1 — that will likely change your opinion on it. To facilitate the transformation into this stunning concept car, the Milner modded just about everything beneath the Evoque’s skin to get it ready for a real off-road thrashing.
A base Evoque delivers a total of 240 horsepower, which is not quite enough for the Milner folks, so they replaced the standard in-line four-pot engine with a 5.0-liter, supercharged V-8 engine that produces more than 550 horsepower and 501 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox driving a Milner transfer box and Milner differentials with Quaife centers.

Russian tuner Larte Design may not be a household name on the tuning scene, but that hasn’t hampered the company from dishing out a new program in attempt to gain more recognition front the public and the industry.
It’s latest work is based on the Range Rover Evoque and despite not being a jaw-dropper at first glance, the kit does still include a variety of aesthetic and performance modifications
A new wide body kit was install, featuring a new honeycomb grille and large air intakes in the front apron. The kit also has a redesigned rear apron, a centrally-mounted triple exhaust system, and a set of gloss-black, 21-inch lightweight alloy wheels. Additionally, the Evoque’s suspension was tuned to drop the SUV by 30 mm (1.18 inches).
Meanwhile, power comes in the form of a 2.2-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 190 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Thanks to Larte Design, the Evoque saw its output increase to 220 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque.
The modifications are simple, but ultimately, effective to give the SUV a serious upgrade in style, attitude, and flair.

When debating Land Rover models, the Range Rover Evoque is our second favorite after the Range Rover Sport, of course. Apparently we are not the only ones with this particular interest in the British SUVs. Kahn Design also developed quite a passion for the Land Rover models, with most of its designs being based on various Range Rovers.
As we close out another Thursday, Kahn provides us with yet another wonderful Range Rover update, but this time, the design firm opted to customize the Evoque. And this Evoque is all about the color black. Everyone knows that black is the color of elegance, so the new Black Label kit transforms the Evoque into one classy rig.
Khan is typically all about the look and feel and doesn’t spend much time tinkering under the hood, and the Black Label is no exception, leaving the 240-horsepower, in-line four-cylinder engine unchaged.

The Range Rover Evoque has quickly become the hottest-selling model in Land Rover’s lineup and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down for 2014, thanks to a new release from the automaker. While all of the specifics of the 2014 Evoque are still unknown, Land Rover UK has outlined some of the technological advancements the model will carry into 2014 — we assume these will be a part of the 2014 U.S.-spec Evoque too.
The U.S. market receives the same 2.0-liter engine as last year’s model, which puts out a respectable 240 horsepower. These engines all link up to an all-new nine-speed ZF-sourced transmission, which has unperceivable shifts and wide spread of gear ratios to make for smooth acceleration and excellent fuel economy.
Also new for 2014 is the Active Driveline, which according to Land Rover is an "on-demand" four-wheel drive system that enhances agility and improves fuel economy, thanks to it deactivating the rear wheels at speeds over 22 mph. However, should the Evoque need that extra grip over 22 mph, the system takes less than 300 milliseconds to activate the rear wheels. Additionally, an E-Diff on the rear delivers Torque Biasing between the rear wheels for optimal traction and control.
Safety features also take center stage in 2014, as the Evoque will feature Park Exit to help you pull out of parallel parking spots; Closing Vehicle Sensing and Reverse Traffic Detection to warn the driver of traffic behind the vehicle; Lane Departure Warning; Traffic Sign Recognition; and Wade Sensing. Also included will be Land Rover InControl Remote to contact emergency services in the event of an accident or Land Rover Assist in the event of technical issues, and Land Rover InControl Secure to track the vehicle in the event of a theft.
And finally, there are a few aesthetic changes that include minor detail changes on the exterior, new colors for the interior, four new alloy wheels and revised :and Rover badges.
More details will come as we get closer to the model’s release in Europe in the third quarter of 2013.

Land Rover and Jaguar announced a collaboration to develop a new ‘Range Rover Evoque_e’ research project that tests new hybrid and battery-electric vehicle (BEV) technology. The research required a total of £16.3 million (about $25 million at the current exchange rates), and was supported by UK’s innovation agency the Technology Strategy Board.
Along with Jaguar and Land Rover, the Evoque_e’s development required the an additional 12 partners, including: Zytek Automotive, GKN Driveline, Motor Design Limited, AVL, Drive System Design, Williams Advanced Engineering, Delta Motorsport, Tata Steel, Bristol University, Cranfield University and Newcastle University.
According to the first details we have, this collaboration will bring to the market three research vehicles: the next-generation powertrain concepts for a mild hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV); a Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) and a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV).
While no other details were revealed, Jaguar’s previous PHEV system revealed in the XJ_e plug-in hybrid, which combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, with a 92-horsepower electric motor and a 12.8kWh Lithium Ion battery pack. Land Rover also revealed numerous "_e" projects, like the Range_e, which combined a 3.0-liter TDV6 diesel with an electric motor and an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

Last month, we heard the first rumors about the possibility of more powerful version of the Range Rover Sport and Evoque models. Rumored to be carry an "RS" suffix, these new versions will look more aggressive than standard version, plus they will deliver more luxury and power.
The first to arrive will likely be the Evoque RS. We anticipate it to carry a sportier look, thanks to new front and rear bumpers and larger air intakes. The exterior will likely boast of a base color with numerous black elements, like the front and rear lip spoiler, side skirts, side-view mirrors and roof. You can see all of these elements on the above rendering.
On the inside, we expect to see sporty updates, like sport seats, carbon-fiber insertions and stainless-steel trimming.
As for the engine, rumors point toward Land Rover tuning the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine to around 300 horsepower, which represents a 60 horsepower increase over the current version. In order to handle the extra power, the Evoque RS will also be equipped with a modified suspension, larger wheels and an updated brake system.

If the current Range Rover Sport is just not enough for you, you will be happy to know that Land Rover is preparing a more powerful version. Set to wear the new "RS" badge, this new performance tag will be applied to both the Evoque and Range Rover models and are expected to arrive starting the end of this year.
Rumors suggest that the first to arrive will be the Evoque RS version, even though spy photographers caught the Range Rover RS testing at the Nϋrburgring race track.
The Range Rover RS will be offered with a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine that will deliver around 542 horsepower - 39 horsepower more than in the current Range Rover Sport. On the other hand, the Evoque RS will get a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with an output of 300 horsepower. Both versions will be offered with modified suspensions and larger wheels.
As for the exterior look, the new RS models will be offered with a unique front bumper design and larger large air intakes, while the rear will get a new bumper and lower skid plate.

Following Nissan’s footsteps, Land Rover unveiled the Evoque Convertible Concept at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Back then, the company announced the concept previewed a future model, but nothing else ever came of it. Now, new rumors suggest that the Evoque Convertible will go into production 2014.
A Land Rover source confirmed in an interview with WhatCar that the Evoque Convertible has been given the green light for next year. The production version will be based on the three-door Evoque Coupe model and will come with a fabric roof, not a folding metal one as previously rumored.
Under the hood, the convertible version will likely feature the same engine lineup as the current models, so customers will be able to choose between both petrol and diesel engines.
Land Rover’s decision to offer a convertible version for the Evoque has been inspired by the huge success the model enjoyed during its first two years of production — more than 220,000 units were produced during this period.

Earlier this year, Kahn Design unveiled a very cool RS250 Evoque tuning kit painted in Fuji White. Now the tuner comes back to this package and offers a new unique color: Orkney Grey, combined of course with a new interior upgrade, as only the specialists at Kahn could do. If you are interested, you can also choose the RS250 in any imaginable color.
As usual, the tuner started by upgrading the exterior aesthetics of the Evoque by offering an aerodynamic package that includes new front and rear bumper covers. The car now sits on new 22-inch RS600 wheels in matte pearl grey - a perfect match with the car’s new exterior color.
Updates continue to the interior where Kahn offers up a stunning trim in Alcantara and Vesuvius Orange detail. Alcantara was used for the dashboard and the transmission tunnel and it was combined with the highest-quality leather and aluminum.

Next to the Range Rover Sport, the Evoque is one of the coolest models Land Rover has ever sold. Tuners seem to agree with this thought, as we have seen lots of upgrade kits offered for the model ever since it debuted.
Today, we get a look at another one. This kit comes from Prior Design, which is already famous for the wide-body kits it offers for sports cars around the globe. The package it offers for the five-door Evoque is called PD650 and includes a series of elements that will make the SUV look sportier and more aggressive while also increasing its aerodynamic efficiency.
All the parts included with the kit are made in quality Dura-Flex FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic), which provides sufficient flexibility combined with high stability and low-cost painting.
Customers interested in the PD650 kit need to shell out €6,900 (about $8,900 at the current exchange rates).

Land Rover has not prepared any big surprises for the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, but the company decided to still come at the show with some updates for the stunning Evoque. The luxury SUV is going to receive a new Black Design Pack offered on the sporty Dynamic version and set to be put on sale in April.
As its name suggests, the new Black Design Pack will add a host of striking black exterior details, starting with darkened front headlights and fog lamps, Santorini Black exhaust pipes, a gloss black rear bumper, a black rear sport spoiler and "Range Rover" lettering across the hood and tailgate also painted in Santorini Black. Specially designed for this package are also the 20-inch wheels offered in a nine-spoke design and painted in gloss black.
On the interior, this special edition will add yellow contrast stitching on seats, central storage area, door trims and fascia mid-section, plus an anodized yellow horizontal finisher.
Customers will have the possibility to choose between two exterior color schemes: Sicilian Yellow with a Santorini Black contrast roof, or Santorini Black with a Sicilian Yellow contrast roof and door mirrors.
At the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Land Rover will unveil an all-new nine-speed transmission. The new transmission — named the ZF 9HP — is designed to fit on transverse-mounted-engine setups, like the Range Rover Evoque. This is the first ever nine-speed automatic transmission offered for a passenger vehicle and it is one of the most efficient and technically advanced transmissions ever used in a production vehicle.
The new transmission was developed in cooperation with ZF and, thanks to the added gear ratios, it helps significantly improve fuel economy and CO2 emissions, while also reducing the engine’s noise when cruising at high speed. The new transmission also delivers improved response during acceleration, improved shift quality, drive and refinement.
Despite being more efficient than the outgoing six-speed transmission, the new 9HP transmission is just 6 mm (0.2 inches) longer and weighs 7.5 kilos (16.5 lbs) less. The new transmission also features lots of innovative features that help improving its efficiency, including: a new hydraulic vane-type pump, two patented dog clutches replacing bulkier conventional clutch packs, and an intelligently nested gear set.

It’s safe to say that aftermarket companies are coming in droves to the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. We’ve already seen some from German tuner Brabus, but now it’s time to turn our attention toward its sister company, Startech.
The German tuner has a number of tuned Land Rover, Jaguar, and Range Rover models to Geneva, one of which is this recently unveiled Range Rover.
While Startech normally leaves the flair to its sister company, Brabus, it certainly put some splashes of it on the Range Rover, particularly on the redesigned front fascia that now includes an integrated spoiler with modified intakes, LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights. The grilles have also been changed to be a little less distinguishable than the cheese grater from the production Range Rover. On top of that, the rear bumper was also modified with a sporty diffuser. Added exterior options include a stainless-steel sport exhaust system, a suspension lowering module, and a new set of 22" alloy wheels.
Inside, Startech went for a more bespoke look with leather and Alcantara treatment on the seats. A choice of exotic wood or carbon fiber trim can are also available while the yachting-inspired load floor adds a sprinkle of class to the cabin’s look. From there, Startech also added illuminated scuff plates and electrically folding rear tables with wood, carbon fiber or leather surfacing.
Moving to the engine, Startech gave the Range Rover its SD 30S package, which pretty much means that the SUV’s 3.0-liter LR-TDV6 diesel engine will see an improved output of 342 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. Those numbers then translate to a 0-62 mph time of 7.3 seconds with a top speed of 137 mph.
Trying to stop a Range Rover driving at a speed of 150 km/h (93 mph) is not always a good move. Three French police officers have learned it in the most tragic way, as two of them - age 32 and 40 - were killed and the third one, aged 54, was seriously injured.
First details suggest that the police officers were chasing the Range Rover for multiple infractions of the road. The police car - a Ford Mondeo - tried to block the SUV, which apparently had no intention to stop and the impact was of a "rare violence."
The Range Rover driver - age 22 - has a pretty hefty criminal record, as he was involved multiple small thefts and drug trafficking, and was arrested five times for driving offenses. Initial reports suggest that during this incident he was under influence and medical reports revealed 1.4 grams of alcohol per liter of blood, while the limit is 0.5 grams / liter of blood. He was also without driving license.
