The SUV assault continues, filtering into every niche of every market imaginable. With so much demand out there, just about every automaker on the planet is getting in on the action, including some with a history that deviates quite a bit from the SUV norm. That includes Lamborghini, which just unveiled the Urus, a follow-up to the cult classic LM002. This time around, Lambo is doing it right, giving the Urus super car-esque agility, speed, and performance, all with a sharp (yet jacked-up) body style crammed with luxury and even a little off-road worthiness. Lambo is calling it the first Super Sport Utility Vehicle, but makes like Porsche and Bentley might have a few words to say about that.
Either way, this is a breakthrough moment for the Raging Bull. While the LM002 was arguably the brand’s first “real” SUV, you can’t really compare it to the hyperspeed Urus. While the old Ramboghini got square styling and somewhat plodding performance, the Urus looks and acts like a Lambo should. It’s also got the first-ever turbocharged engine in a Lambo. All told, Lamborghini claims this thing has a “dual personality” and is “multi-dimensional” in what it can do. But the question is this – where does it land amongst the bevy of fast luxury SUVs already on the market?

The tour’s main stars were none other than Lamborghini’s V8, V-10, and V-12 powered go-fast machines: the Urus, the Huracan EVO, and the Aventador SVJ. What’s the reason to celebrate, you’re asking? Well, other than the holiday season, an unseen-before boost in sales and profitability for the carmaker. Driven by the Urus super-SUV’s popularity, Lamborghini delivered more than 8,000 cars worldwide, a hefty increase compared to the 5,750 units it shipped in 2018.
But, hey, we didn’t bring you here for boring sales reports and whatnot. This is the Lamborghini Urus, or at least it was until it turned into a Decepticon. All jokes aside, this heavily modified Urus is the proud work of Keyvany, a German tuner who apparently knows a thing or two about the Mansory way of vehicle modifications. One look at it and you’ll understand that reference. Keyvany’s tuning program for the Urus is excess personified. It’s loaded with enough carbon fiber parts and pieces to make other tuners blush. The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has started appearing in YouTube videos lately and it looks as fierce in the real world as it did in the images and videos released by the automaker. 2021 Lamborghini Urus Graphite Capsule
Lamborghini is far from a subtle automaker. None of its models can fly under the radar, and even if you ask for a toned-down color, a Lamborghini will still stand out from the pack because, well, it’s a Lamborghini. Of course, that’s not going to stop the Italian automaker from rolling out a new options package for the Urus that’ll supposedly succeed in toning down the SUV’s looks.
The new options package is called Graphite Capsule, and it includes four new exterior paint colors, neon highlights in the body and interior, and an assortment of other visual highlights. Opt for the Graphite Capsule package on your 2021 Lamborghini Urus and you stand to pay at least $218,009. That’s a healthy increase — more than $15,000 — from the price of a 2020 Urus. Then again, you are still paying for a Lamborghini. Those are expensive last we checked.

Mercedes-AMG G63 is a legend in itself. The boxy, old-school design still appeals to a lot of people. It is mechanically strong and has a powerful mill as well. There’s also the Lamborghini Urus, one of the fastest SUVs in the world and arguably the automaker’s breadwinner in the present day.
So, what happens when you put the two against each other in a drag race? Well, the folks at Throttle House decided to do that. The Urus has the edge in this case, but there’s a catch. The Mercedes-AMG G63 makes over 700 horses on the wheels; about 10-percent more than the Urus. Will that skew the odds in the G63’s favor?

The Lamborghini Urus is the youngest model in the company’s lineup and was the best-selling product for the automaker in 2019. The company has sold over 8,300 examples of the Urus since its launch in September 2018, 4,962 copies of which were moved last year. This accounted for 60-percent of the automaker’s total sales in 2019. So, it was imperative that the company kept the product fresh and exciting entering in its third year.
To do so, Lamborghini has introduced the 2021 Urus with a new Capsule Design package along with a few other changes. The package includes new colors, carbon fiber elements, etc. Not to mention, the prices of the Urus are also increased.
German Tuner HGP Has Managed to Make the Lamborghini Urus A 1,000-Horsepower Monster
With 650 horsepower at its disposal and a 0 to 62 mph sprint of 3.5 seconds, the Lamborghini Urus is one of the fastest and most powerful production SUVs in stock form. It’s not as powerful as the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, rated at 707 horsepower, but you can now get a more potent Urus thanks to HGP, who tuned the 4.0-liter V-8 engine to deliver almost 1,000 horsepower. The Germans have just released a Stage 2 kit for the Urus that raises output to an amazing 947 horsepower and 922 pound-feet of torque.
We’re Pretty Sure We Know What “New” Model Lamborghini is Revealing on May 7
Lamborghini’s plant in Sant’Agata has been at idle since March 13, when the COVID-19 outbreak put a temporary end to production. It originally planned to resume operations March 25, but that had to be prolonged, with the company now saying production will restart on May 4th. That announcement came via a general press release that just so happened to hide a little piece of information, one that says Lamborghini is planning to host an online world premiere of a new car on May 7th. The 2020 Lamborghini Urus ST-X is a race-spec concept version of the Urus, the company’s first-ever SUV. The concept vehicle previews a full-production SUV designed for a single-brand championship that will debut in 2020 in Europe and the Middle East. Conceived as a new "arrive and drive" experience in Lamborghini’s motorsport program, it will offer customers a complete package including the vehicle and technical support during race weekends.
Yes, the 2020 Urus ST-X will compete in a series very similar to the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, reserved for race-spec Huracan models. Like all other track-bred Lambos, the 2020 Urus ST-X was designed and built by Lamborghini Squadra Corse.

We’ve got a lot of love for Lego’s car sets, and some of our favorite desk boosters are Speed Champions-branded. Lego’s move to branch out and launch this new category back in 2015 is something we’ve been applauding from day one. How Much Does It Cost to Rent a Lamborghini?
Owning a supercar is the dream of many gearheads, but with anything coming out of Maranello or Sant’Agata Bolognese these days trading hands for well over $200,000, it’s almost impossible for most people to actually boast that they have such a car in their garage. Even a basic Porsche 718 Cayman isn’t cheap when compared to a standard Toyota Corolla or anything else that people buy in droves. That’s why your best bet is to simply rent one of these prized exotic machines. Don’t expect Camry rates when going out to get a Huracan for the weekend but, at least, you won’t have to put a second mortgage on your house to afford it.
Just picture it: you with your favorite pair of sunglasses on sitting behind the wheel of a topless Lamborghini with the engine idling, ready for your command to fling forwards towards the horizon. It sounds like one of the best dreams you can ever hope to have but that’s the issue: it’s only a dream. Supercar ownership is out of reach for most of us - unless, finally, your luck turns around and you win the lottery. Luxury car renting companies know that and are always prepared to hand you the keys of a mid-engined thoroughbred. But don’t drive it like you stole it!
2019 Lamborghini Urus by Novitec
Some vehicles don’t need to do anything to stand out. Some just show up and attract attention like a flame attracts moths. The Lamborghini Urus super-SUV is one such vehicle. The Urus stands out on its own in ways very few — if any — SUVs do. Maybe it’s the way it looks, or maybe it’s the Lamborghini badge on its hood. Either way, there’s little you can do to make the Urus stand out even more. Or is there?
Novitec tried to answer that question by creating an aftermarket program that’s specifically dedicated to Lamborghini’s high-performance SUV. The result is like a lot of Novitec’s past tuning programs. It looks meaner and, more importantly, it comes with power and performance upgrades that emphatically cast aside any notion that the Urus can’t stand out more than it already does.
Lamborghini Is Successful as Hell, and That’s Actually a Problem
Lamborghini sold 4,553 cars in the first six months of this year. To put this number into perspective, let me tell you that in all of 2018 Lamborghini sold just 5,750 vehicles in total. According to Lamborghini officials, the company expects to sell 8,000 cars this year. How it comes that Lambo made such an incredible growth this year?
Well, they have the Urus, which found way to 2,693 customers in the first six months of this year (plus 1,211 units of the Huracan, and 649 units of the Aventador). Interestingly enough, 70 percent of Urus buyers are new to the brand! So, what is the problem then? Lambo CEO painted the picture a bit.
"We must not go on growing forever. We now have to consolidate these results and preserve exclusivity," Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali said at the new Paint Shop inauguration at St. Agata.
"The 2019 sales level is the right dimension of our company with our current product portfolio," he added.
With a massive market for the Urus, Lamborghini could lose exclusivity and emerge into a segment of conventional vehicles. That’s something Lambo cannot do. Or is it?
2019 Lamborghini Urus by ABT Sportsline
With over 640 horsepower on tap from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine, the Lamborghini Urus is already one of the fastest and most formidable SUVs in the market today. But as is always the case with the powerful, the status quo isn’t nearly good enough. There’s always a need for more, more, and more. That’s why when it came time to giving the Urus an aftermarket makeover, ABT Sportsline took a break from its assembly line of tuning projects for scattered Audi and Volkswagen models to turn its attention to the Italian SUV. The result is what you’d expect from the German tuner. The Lamborghini Urus now packs more punch to the tune of 700 horsepower and 671 pound-feet of torque. It’s not big of a jump from the Urus’ standard output, but when you’re playing around with models packing this amount of power, even the simplest of performance bumps goes a long way.

Lamborghini builds racing version of Urus; Plans racing series for 2020
Lamborghini, once a brand completely uninterested in motorsport, is preparing to build a racing version of its Urus Super SUV, dubbed the ST-X. It should lead to a single-make racing series that will feature Rallycross-style courses.
The manufacturer from Sant’Agata Bolognese unveiled the Urus ST-X concept that is a very accurate preview of Lamborghini’s first racing utility vehicle. It was presented to the press at the Vallelunga circuit, near Rome, where Lamborghini hosted its annual World Finals for the Super Trofeo series.
Unlike another SUV-based series that should kick-off next year, the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy, the Urus ST-X will race on mixed surfaces similar to rallycross events where cars have to run on tarmac as well as on gravel. Lamborghini says the championship will take teams and drivers on a tour of FIA-approved tracks in Europe and beyond.

It has happened. The Lamborghini Urus accelerated to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. In one of their latest videos, Drag Times reported and clocked a massive Lamborghini Urus accelerating to 60 mph in exactly 2.93 seconds. To show you just how amazing this feat is, you have to know that Lamborghini officially disclosed that the Urus will accelerate to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds. I was aware that Lambo is conservative with its acceleration estimates, but not half a second conservative.

Some people criticized Lamborghini for making a high-riding SUV type vehicle, claiming it wasn’t in the spirit of its decades-long history and that it diluted the brand. However, it is hard to deny the fact that they pulled it off pretty well, and the resulting Lambo Urus is now one of the most desirable SUVs money can buy.

Video of the Day: Deciding to Build the Lamborghini LM002 and Lamborghini Urus
Back in the ‘80s, Lamborghini went about building the large-and-in-charge LM002 SUV, an absolute bruiser of a vehicle that was completely at odds with the Raging Bull’s speed-laced history. Affectionately dubbed the “Rambo Lambo,” the LM002 was the off-shoot of the Italian supercar-maker’s “Cheetah” program, which was originally tasked with creating a new off-roader for the military. Only a few hundred were ever produced, but Lambo never forgot about it, and in December of 2017, the manufacturer unveiled a spiritual successor - the Urus.
It’s a fascinating story, and our friends over at Fifth Gear got a chance to sit down and hear it told by Lamborghini’s insiders, including Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO at Automobili Lamborghini, and Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini’s Head of Design.
Not only does the video include some fascinating perspectives on both the LM002 and the Urus, but it tosses in a number of truly epic shots of both vehicles out and about in their natural environments, plus the all-important exhaust note rumblings from both the LM002’s 12-cylinder and the Urus’ twin-turbo V-8. And, just for fun, there’s some nice side-by-side shots of the LM002 cruising alongside its contemporary sports car sibling, the Countach.

Don’t Expect a Smaller Lamborghini SUV to Join the Urus
The Lamborghini Urus has been a resounding success for Lamborghini, so much so that the company would be forgiven if it’s suddenly getting a little trigger-happy in following that up with a smaller SUV. Porsche did it with the Macan. Bentley is reportedly doing it with the Bentayga. What’s stopping Lamborghini? As it turns out, Lamborghini is stopping Lamborghini. The Italian automaker has no plans to add another SUV to complement the Urus, saying that it would rather keep the brand’s exclusivity than capitalizing on the Urus’ success.
While the LM002 was arguably the brand’s first “real” SUV, you can’t really compare it to the hyperspeed Urus. While the old Ramboghini got square styling and somewhat plodding performance, the Urus looks and acts like a Lambo should. It’s also got the first-ever turbocharged engine in a Lambo. All told, Lamborghini claims this thing has a “dual personality” and is “multi-dimensional” in what it can do. Now, you can make it your desktop wallpaper. Go ahead, you know you want to.
Lamborghini Urus Concludes its 114-City, Globe-Trotting World Tour
The Lamborghini Urus is such a big deal for Lamborghini that a world debut isn’t enough for the SUV. The Urus made its official debut at Lamborghini’s headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy last December, and over the next four months, Lambo took its latest pride and joy on a 114-city world tour, putting it in front of over 8,500 people, including celebrities, journalists, and most importantly, prospective customers.

Lamborghini introduced the Urus just last December, ushering in a hot new competitor for the high-end performance SUV segment that matched a tall-riding, opulent body style with the traditional Raging Bull qualities of head-turning style and neck-snapping performance. Pops’ Rants: The Chicago Auto Show Is Proof that Lamborghini Is Schizophrenic
Remember how Lamborghini staged an U.S. debut for the Urus at the Museum of Contemporary Art and then ditched the Detroit Auto Show, leaving just a Huracan at the Cobo Center? And how the Italian firm thought that the SUV was too special for the first major auto show of 2018? You probably do, but Lambo apparently forgot all about it, as the Urus is now on display at the Chicago Auto Show. It’s just sitting alone in the corner waiting for visitors that are there for mundane cars they can buy. Makes a lot of sense, right?
Don’t Expect Lamborghini To Start Making More SUVs Now
2018 is shaping up to be a big year for Lamborghini. This is the year the Urus SUV goes on sale, becoming only the second Lamborghini SUV in history after the Hummer-like LM002 enjoyed a seven-year run from 1986 to 1993. To be clear, the expectations for the Urus are much higher than they ever were for the LM002. Lamborghini expects its new SUV to spearhead another record-breaking sales year, and by all accounts, the Urus is more than capable of doing that. Just don’t expect Lambo to start having illusions of building another SUV model to complement what it already has. That’s not happening, at least not in the near future.
Feeling Special: Lambo Unveils Urus at Museum of Art, Ditches Detroit Auto Show
The brand-new Lamborghini Urus, the super SUV that drove almost everyone crazy, made its North American debut in Detroit earlier this week. For a couple of hours or so, because the vehicle was displayed at the Museum of Contemporary Art instead of the Detroit Auto Show. Specifically, Lambo made a separate event, invited a few people to see company CEO Stefano Domenicali give a speech, and then took the Urus away, leaving just an orange Huracan on the show floor. Why? Well, maybe it’s because the Italian firm is too special for the Detroit Auto Show.
In 2019, Lamborghini introduced the Urus SUV – a follow up to the iconic LM002 and a modern performance- and luxury-oriented vehicle designed to cater to those with an itch for the ranging bull but the need to carry around a family too. Despite its high price and performance credentials, the Urus is even capable of mild off-roading if you could bring yourself to taking a $200,000+ SUV off the beaten path.
Powered by a typical, Lamborghini 4.0-liter V-8, the Urus offers up 650 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Urus is able to hit 62.1 mph in 3.6 seconds or 124.2 mph in 12.8 seconds, as it continues to accelerate up to a top speed of 190 mph. Pricing for the Urus starts out at $200,000 in the United States an will eventually compete with the Ferrari Purosangue once it goes into production sometime after the turn of the decade and the Bentley Bentayga – a more luxurious offering but a true performer in its own right.
