Developing a car from scratch starts with some drawing and calculations, then the building of test prototypes, then pre-production cars, and eventually the pilot production vehicles. Most of the time, test prototypes are usually destroyed when their use has been exceeded, yet here we are looking at a test prototype of the Porsche 959 – a car that is believed to be one of the few surviving examples of the F-Series prototypes from 1985. It’s currently listed for sale on Mechatronik for an undisclosed price, but is It truly authentic?

This one-of-a-kind 1966 Chevy Corvette convertible, dubbed Blue Diamond, recently went for a cool $250,000 at Barrett Jacksons’ inaugural auction in Houston, Texas. The car has been meticulously prepared to show-quality standards in a bespoke one-of-a-kind Metallic exterior paint, complemented with a 1966 big-block hood.

The Lo-Res Car has to be one of the strangest automobiles out there, even as far as concept cars go. It’s no wonder that it eventually made it to the Petersen Automotive Museum in L.A. They acquired this extremely rare vehicle three years ago, and the car is now being auctioned for no reserve at BringATrailer.com. It is being offered on a bill of sale and does not have a title or registration for use on the street.

The Lexus LFA needs no introduction. It was in production for two years and the company made 500 examples in total. For some reason, Lexus wasn’t able to sell all the 500 examples. As of the end of 2020, there was still one LFA unsold! But, that doesn’t mean the car doesn’t have a demand. An LFA with 7,000 miles on the odo recently hit the Bring-a-Trailer auction and it has already attracted the highest bid of $650,000! It could receive higher bids since there are three more days at the time of writing this article.

When we think of American car companies, we think Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors. The “big three” have been competing with each other since the beginning, but in 1954, another company decided to have a piece of the action. The brand disappeared in 1988, but apparently, there’s one car that’s still brand new to this day – a 1979 AMC AMX, which to this day, hasn’t been sold.

If you love 1960s sitcoms (we are not judging), you may have come across “The Munsters,” which is a story about a family of benign monsters, in a way, similar to “The Addams Family.” In the episode dubbed “Hot Rod Herman,” there was a car named the “Drag-U-La.” As it turns out, the car is very much real and in working condition. Moreover, it’s for sale and here’s what you need to know about it.

The first generation Mercury Cougar was released on September 30, 1966. It was instantly a success, and, as no surprise, in 1967 it received Motor Trend’s Car of the Year award. During its lifetime, the first generation Cougar received a series of V-8 engines, but one of the most powerful ones came in 1968 with the launch of the XR-7 GT-E package. Just FYI, the most powerful one was a 427 ci V-8 engine with a total output of 390 horsepower.

Only 394 units of the GT-E was produced in 1968 and, more importantly, there was only one unit that combined a 428ci Cobra Jet V-8, a four-speed manual transmission, and a 3.90:1 Traction-Lok differential. This specific unit is now being auctioned on bringatrailer.com.

You can find some amazing stuff on bringatrailer.com and this Jaguar XJS is a perfect example. Granted, a 1977 Jaguar XJS probably isn’t your first choice of platform for a performance build, but it shows that even a lazy gran tourer, like this Jaguar, can turn into a proper tire-shredding machine. It’s an ambitious father and son project that’s actually finished (yes, such a thing is possible) and now, it’s for sale.

It’s not often that you see an extremely unique and outstanding automobile in great shape appear on the used car market, but this certainly has to be one of those rare instances. A 2009 Spyker C8 Laviolette is going to go under the hammer at the upcoming Audrain Concours Auction by Bonhams on October 1 in Newport, Rhode Island. The car seen here is one of just 58 examples ever made and is extra special as it is just one of four finished in Burnt Almond Orange, and it only has 700 miles on the clock.

The Ferrari 500 Mondial was inspired by a design created by Dino Ferrari to freshen up the look of the old 166. The first three of the 500 Mondials were built by Scaglietti, a young coachbuilder from Modena. Later, Pinin Farina made 15 of these, although a Ferrari historian, Marcel Massini, notes that 16 were made. Either way, one of the Pinin Farina-built models has come up for sale on Bring-a-Trailer and it has already received a bid of $1 million!

Marcello Gandini needs no introduction. He has tens of models to his name and many of them have achieved legendary status. Now, three of his creations, namely the Lamborghini Jarama, the Lancia Stratos HF Stradale, and the Alfa-Romeo Montreal will be up for sale at an upcoming auction by Stratas Auctions. Collectively, they are expected to fetch north of $800,000.

The Ferrari Testarossa needs no introduction. It is a classic Ferrari that commands attention even today. Ferrari built around 10,000 examples of the Testarossa in its 12-year life cycle that lasted from 1984 to 1996. If you are a fan of the car and have always wanted to own one, well, here’s your chance to do so.

A 1990 example has come up for sale on CollectingCars and it can be yours if you act fast. The highest bid for this Testarossa at the time of writing this article is $63,000.

A ’69 Mercury Cougar XR7 Super Cobra has come up for auction at Barrett Jackson. The Cougar was MotorTrends’s 1967 Car of the Year. It shares its underpinnings with the Ford Mustang, however, the two cars feature a different wheelbase and sheet metal. The Cougar was Ford’s answer to a car that slotted in between the Mustang and the Thunderbird.

If you’ve ever wanted to own a road-legal race car, well here is your chance, provided you’ve got some deep pockets that is. Real deep. The CLK GTR is a road-going race car that Mercedes-Benz produced in the late 90s to comply with racing regulations that required them to make a set number of road-going variants. Only 25 were built, with 20 being coupes and 5 being roadsters. This particular example was number nine of those 25. Also, aside from the name, the CLK GTR had nothing in common with the CLK of the time.
