Audi posted some fun renderings of an Audi Q3 with a unicorn horn on social media, and it got so much attention that the German company decided to bring the “Qnicorn” to life and cruise around the streets of Washington DC. It’s certainly an interesting take on Halloween costumes, and at least the company didn’t get burned like BMW did when it tried to troll Mercedes.
The new Audi RS Q3 has made its debut with a revised version of that peppy and acoustic 2.5-liter, turbocharged, inline, five-cylinder engine. This time around, however, it is tuned to deliver 400 horsepower (295 kW) and 354 pound-feet (480 nm) of torque, all of which is channeled to all four wheels through Audi’s awesome Quattro AWD system. That accounts for an increase of 94 horsepower over the 2013-2014 RS Q3, 65 horsepower over the 2015-2016 RS Q3, and 38 horsepower over the most powerful version from the last-gen model, the RS Q3 Performance. The new RS Q3 is certainly an amazing compact performance crossover with unique styling touches, impressive horsepower, and notable luxury. But, it’s not the RS Q3 that is all that important in today’s headlines.
The RS Q3? Eh, it’s just another performance crossover. What about the RS Q3 Sportback? That’s right, folks. Audi has managed to apply the Sportback name to the range-topping RS Q3 and, believe it or not, it is somehow more attractive than the Q3 Sportback. It features its only unique styling compared to the RS Q3 and the sloping roof – paired with the more aggressive RS design cues – actually makes it look oddly like the Lamborghini Urus from certain angles. It’s hard to believe, sure, but there sure is a resemblance. Here’s a quick rundown of what the new Audi RS Q3 Sportback brings to the lineup.

Introduced globally in July 2018, the second-generation Audi Q3 made its public U.S. debut at the 2019 New York Auto Show. The second-gen Q3, which replaces a dated eight-year old model, brings a sportier design, better tech, and a more powerful engine.
2020 Audi RS Q3
The 2020 Audi RS Q3 is the high-performance, range-topping version of the second-generation Q3. Unveiled in 2019, the 2020 RS Q3 is now available in two versions, just like the regular Q3. There’s the standard compact SUV with the wagon-style roof and a new Sportback model with a sleeker, coupe-style roof and different design cues. While the RS Q3 continues to go against high-power version of the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA, the RS Q3 Sportback is aimed at the likes of the BMW X2. The 2020 RS Q3 continues to feature the old 2.5-liter inline-five engine, but it now generates more oomph at 400 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The 2020 Range Rover Evoque and the 2020 Audi Q3 have both appeared in last six months. Not only do they compete in the same segment, but actually target exactly the same buyers - fashion-conscious buyers who live in urban areas but do an occasional adventurous stint. I do not want to sound like a chauvinist, but it seems that both of these machines do play a game to win women’s’ hearts. I am not making this up. Just at last years’ Los Angeles Auto Show, the Audi Q3 won the Womens’ Choice Awards. And, back in the day when Range Rover revealed its first Evoque, it employed Victoria Beckham to design some details of the interior. You may call me whatever you like, but this shows the obvious intentions of these two. They did it before and they are doing it now as well. Plus, when you see it on the road, note who is behind the wheel. A boy or a girl.
There is only one massive change compared with the cars of before - the Audi grew by quite a bit. The Evoque did not. At all. Nevertheless, both companies do look to cash in on the same virtues as before. They are zippy around town, astutely fast on the autobahn, look exceptionally well in traffic, and feature a host of technology to make even the sanest man go mad. Sorry, but that’s what it takes today to be a hit.

The Audi Q3 Looks the Same but is a Bit Larger With some Q8 DNA
The crossover segment is as hot as ever, and Audi is once again looking to take advantage of the seemingly never-ending demand. As such, it just unveiled its latest Q3 compact, showing it off in a brief 1-minute video set against some scenic coastal roads.
Audi is calling it all-new, but you wouldn’t know it from a glance. Take a closer look, though, and you’ll start to pick out a few things, with new styling bits added front to back. The Q3 once again takes after the Q8 in terms of styling cues, incorporating geometric lines, deep cuts, and sharp styling, not to mention the requisite massive grille in the nose.
The Q3 is also bigger this time around, although not too much - after all, Audi doesn’t wanna encroach on the Q5’s territory, which is currently selling like hot cakes. Still, the Q3 is definitely larger, gaining a little under 4 inches in overall length, as well as an inch to the overall width. The wheelbase is also 3 inches longer, which should make the interior even more comfy.
Speaking of which, the cabin layout once again mirrors that of the Q8, with a horizontal appearance and tons of geometric styling features. Audi added its desirable Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster as standard equipment for 2019, and there’s also an optional 10-inch infotainment screen and the very latest MMI system support. CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard, as will the latest autonomous driving tech, such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic forward braking, and rear cross-traffic alert.
No word on the U.S. powertrain lineup, although we do know that across the pond, buyers will get a pair of gas engines and a diesel.
That said, it’s highly likely we’ll once again get a turbocharged 2.0-liter TFSI gas-burner in two states of tune, including190 horsepower and 230 horsepower. Both will mate with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, while quattro AWD should come as standard. Also expect multiple drive modes and optional adaptive damping suspension components.

Long ago, Audi was dominating Rallycross events in a Sport Quattro S1. It helped to brand Quattro as one of the best all-wheel drive systems in the world. Several years later, the A8 garnered popularity with its starring role in The Transporter, while the TT earned the attention of passersby who gave themselves whiplash as they took in the unusual design for the time. Since then, the RS4 and R8 eared themselves a spot on many dream lists across the world and more pedestrian Audis like the A4 were eating into BMW’s sales.
The aforementioned are all cars. Today, things are a bit different over at Audi as it seems the priority is to invest more and more into SUVs. In North America, there are already three in the lineup. A fourth, the Q2, is on sale overseas and is expected to eventually arrive on our shores. Then there’s the Q8 which is expected to be even bigger than the Q7 along with a four-door
like SUV a la BMW X6 that is also expected to join the family.

At this point, there are so many “Black Edition” models floating around that we can’t tell what manufacturer actually fired the first shot. It seems like just about every model out there has a Black Edition of some kind. There’s the 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera Black Edition, The Mazda3 Sport Black Edition, Volkswagen Scirocco Black Edition, Porsche Cayman Black Edition, and Nissan Qashqai Black Edition – just to name a small handful from a very large pool of available models out there. Hell, Even Bentley has done it. Now, Audi is adding to its lineup of “Black Edition” models with this new iteration of the Q3. As usual, the model comes with just a few “upgrades” that include some black interior trim and a few exterior pieces done up in black as well.
It’s really like one manufacturer decided to do a Black Edition and everybody else decided to jump off the same bridge. Just like the use of Alcantara. It was once something that was once cool and eccentric but is now just boring and overplayed. As such, Audi is actually replacing the S Plus Model with the Black Edition in its lineup, which means most of the features the model is boasting, were already there to begin with. This includes things like SD card-based navigation, cruised control, privacy glass, and black interior that, of course, has some Alcantara mixed in too.
So, with that said, let’s take a closer look at the new Q3 Black Edition and see if there’s really any hype worth writing home about.

2017 - 2018 Audi Q3
The Audi Q3 is the German brand’s tall-stance, compact-fitting crossover product, which has been around since 2011. Prior to the introduction of the Audi Q2 at the Geneva Motor Show back in March, the Q3 was Audi’s smallest
style offering. These days, the Q3 is looking like it should be getting a second generation, but before it does, Audi has decided to keep the old five-door fresh by way of new aesthetic upgrades and a new special edition model. All the bits under the skin have been unaltered, but outside, you’ll find sportier trim, new wheels, and a few other bits and bobs added. On the new special edition, the cabin has been updated as well.
The new special edition is called the S line competition, which joins trim levels like the Design and Sport trim as the top-dog kit. Plenty of folks are holding out to see what the second-generation might bring, but for those who simply can’t wait, the updated Audi Q3 might offer just the right style to justify a purchase.

2016 Audi Q3 Connected Mobility Concept
SUVs have been a big hit at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show as automakers from all over the world have been doing their part in trying to impress what is arguably the biggest SUV market in business. Audi was one of the companies that presented an SUV at the event, but instead of trying to showcase a new concept that previews a future model, it went an entirely different route by showcasing a new concept that previews new possibilities in an existing model. The concept is called the Q3 Connected Mobility and while it doesn’t look like a traditional concept vehicle, it does come with an electrically-powered multifunctional longboard that’s stored neatly under the boot of the crossover.
According to Audi, the Q3 Connected Mobility concept “offers sporty and multifunctional mobility for metropolises with millions of residents.” Considering its rather quirky but otherwise effective feature, I’d say that the German automaker nailed its description for the entire concept. See, the objective of this particular concept isn’t so much about showcasing the capabilities of the Q3.It’s actually all about that longboard, which functions as an alternative mode of transportation in the event driving the Q3 around busy urban cities becomes a hassle. Certain situations do lend to longboards becoming more efficient forms of transportation and that’s exactly what the Q3 Connected Mobility concept is trying to highlight.
The way that Audi managed to integrate it into the Q3 is impressive enough in and of itself. But there’s more to this concept than just having its own longboard. The Q3 Connected Mobility also takes its name to heart, incorporating all these new technologies into one car with the intention of possibility seeing it come to life in the future. That future may or may not include a longboard, but for what it’s worth, the way Audi packaged the concept kind of makes me think that such a feature actually looks great on paper.

2017 Audi RS Q3 Performance
When it comes to the Audi Q3, two big things happened for the 2015 model year. The first was a refresh that gave the car a sportier look with mild changes to the front end. In addition to the mild facelift, Audi also brought the Q3 to U.S. shores for the first time. Of course, we didn’t get the plethora of engines available in other markets, but hey, at least we got the Q3. Now that we’re slowly crossing days off the 2016 calendar, Audi has dropped the news that a performance variant of the RS Q3 – called the Audi RS Q3 Performance – is in the works and will make its debut at the Geneva Auto Show in March of 2016.
Naturally, the performance-minded RS Q3 will take on some significant changes to differentiate it from the standard RS Q3. There will be minor changes to the exterior, as well as some significant changes to the interior. In addition to that, a performance-optimized engine and chassis come together to make this little crossover something that dreams are made of.
So far, the RS Q3 Performance has only been given a European emissions classification (Euro 6,) so it doesn’t look like it is coming to the States anytime soon. Hopefully, that will change in the future but, until it does, let’s take a look at what our neighbors on the other side of the drink can expect from the Audi RS Q3 Performance.

First unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the Audi RS Q3 has developed quite a nice following over in Europe. I wish I could say the same thing here in the US, but since it’s not available in this part of the world, any form of chest-beating for the high-powered crossover would be irrelevant.
Audi seems to be perfectly happy with the reception the RS Q3 has received across the Atlantic and customers in that area are just as happy knowing that German tuner ABT Sportsline has just unveiled a tuning kit for the high-powered Q3 crossover.
The kit is typical ABT Sportsline. No flash, all substance. Sure, it has some decal stripes to add some flavor to the RS Q3’s appearance, but everything else included in the kit is there for the purpose of improving the crossover’s performance and handling capabilities. The engine upgrade, in particular, is impressive. Same thing with the suspension modifications that resulted in a lower and wider stance for the RS Q3.
There’s a lot to like about this new kit for the RS Q3. The fact that it comes from ABT Sportsline is probably the least surprising thing about it.

It’s the little-known goal of all corporations big enough to pursue it — put competitors out of business as often as possible. It’s not intentional, it’s just a natural outgrowth of expanding into occupied markets. Right now, from Audi’s perspective at least, the biggest problem with aftermarket accessories is that they’re just that: after. After you leave Audi and wind up at Pep Boys, or your local speed shop, or an online marketplace.
Okay, maybe it’s not quite as cynical as that. Audi is a good brand, and its customers are some of the most loyal on Earth. Stands to reason that the average Audi customer would be happy to find the four rings on every gadget and doodad the well-equipped motorist might need or want. Get ready to lose your market share, Pep Boys — the Germans have landed.

Testing of the 2016 Audi Q3 continues in the third quarter of 2014, as the Germans are slowly removing the camouflage from their BMW X1 competitor. Last time our paparazzi spotted it in June 2014, the crossover was camouflaged to the teeth. Three months later, the Q3’s body has more room to breathe, although the swirly wrap still covers the essential parts. Specifically, Audi is not yet willing to unveil the exterior modifications it prepared for the facelifted Q3.
Fortunately enough, some of the updates are visible, and we notice, once again, that the Q3 is getting a brand-new front grille. The unit has been slightly reshaped, but the important novelty is that it has received horizontal slats instead of the vertical bars seen on the current model. With this new grille, Audi makes the Q3 appear wide and sportier; a wise touch. Larger air intakes in the bumper and revised headlamps complete the new front fascia, while the rear end boasts a set of refreshed taillights with new graphics and a more pronounced bumper. The Germans have meddled with the side skirts as well, but nothing too drastic.
We expect Audi to keep the current engine lineup, but work on the internals for improved output and reduced CO2 emissions. The U.S.-spec, 2.0-liter, TFSI engine is likely to generate more than the 200 horsepower it comes with nowadays.

For the European market, the Audi Q3 was unveiled in 2011 after being previewed by the Cross Coupe quattro concept at the 2007 Shanghai Motor Show. Now it’s our turn, as Audi decided to release it for the 2015 model year.
With the incredible success the Q5 and the Q7 are already enjoying and the increased demand for compact SUVs in the U.S., it is really no surprise to see the Q3 on American soil. The Q3 is expected to be an even more successful model, thanks to its combination of a coupe-like look with the utility of a SUV and the usual features offered by an Audi SUV — "utility, technology, craftsmanship and performance."
The 2015 Audi Q3 will be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show and will be put on sale in the fall of 2014. Prices will be announced at a later date.

MTM Tuning presented its own program for the Audi RS Q3 a few weeks ago, and it was an impressive kit that played into the strengths of the German crossover. We applauded MTM then for its work not knowing that another noted German tuner was on its way to revealing its own program for the RS Q3. Enter ABT Sportsline, the same company that has made it a mission to improve every Audi model, using the sophisticated science of customization.
ABT Sportsline’s program for the RS Q3 doesn’t lack anything. Really, every aspect of the crossover was taken care of. Whether it’s the improved output numbers or the new set of 21-inch wheels, the German tuner didn’t leave any stone unturned on its way to decking out the RS Q3.
We’re not surprised by the things ABT Sportsline does. When it comes to versatile kits that offer a blend of everything, this tuner knows what it’s doing. That’s the case here with the Audi RS Q3, a sporty crossover that demands our attention. ABT Sportsline gave it that, and a whole lot more.

The Audi Q5 and Q7 understandably get all the love among Audi’s roster of crossovers and SUVs. But let’s not forget about the Q3. This little brother got some spunk and it definitely deserves a path on the back, or in the case of German tuner MTM, a dedicated aftermarket program.
We’re all familiar with Audi’s packaging of the Q3. It’s an economic crossover that has plenty of sweet features combined with Audi’s fabulous technical engineering. Then there’s the RS Q3 - the subject of this program - that breathes a little more fire as a more performance-oriented model of the Q3. But still, even something "good" has a chance to be "better", and that’s what MTM set out to accomplish with its new tuning kit for the RS Q3 2.5 TFSI quattro.
As a performance-heavy update, MTM is charging quite a lot for this program. The cost of the engine tune is €3,357, which is about $4,500 based on current exchange rates. Meanwhile, the new exhaust system and the carbon fiber rear diffuser will set you back €4,699, right around $6,400.
Then again, you can just opt for getting everything, car and tuning kit together. For that, you’re gonna have to pay €76,650, or about $104,150 in American money.
That might be a steep a price to pay, but what you can get out of it is pretty awesome in its own right.

The Audi Q3 is currently Audi’s smallest crossover. Based on the Volkswagen Tiguan and debuting for the 2012 model year, the Q3 made a splash with three TFSi gasoline engines and three TDI diesel engines for consumption in world markets. Now for 2015, Audi is finally bringing the Q3 stateside, though it will only be offered with its range-topping 2.0-liter TFSI turbocharged four-cylinder making 200 horsepower. Of course Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system will be optional, sending power to all four wheels for better handling. Those Q3s without quattro will be front-wheel-drive. A six-speed automatic transmission will be the only option for those wanting to buy a U.S.-spec Q3.
Audi is also revamping its Q3 for 2015 with a revised exterior look that is far more edgy and sporty than before, along with. Active suspension dampers are now present with driver-selectable modes for a tailored feel. Those outside the U.S. will enjoy the added power Audi gave the RS Q3, boosting its 2.5-liter turbocharged inline five-cylinder an extra 30 horsepower and 22 pound-feet of torque, giving it a total of 340 horses and 332 pound-feet.
Aimed directly at the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, the Audi Q3 offers pint sized SUV functionality in a somewhat sporty package that’s easy to park.

Perfection is the name of the game with Kahn Design, and its latest creation is no exception. This beautiful Audi Q3 2.0 is a wonderful blend of performance and ruggedness, with a few custom touches that make it worth a head turn.
Starting with an Audi Q3, Kahn works its usual magic both inside and outside the all-wheel-drive crossover. The minimalist changes are a reflection of what the Q3’s owner and Kahn Design collaborated together to create.
The majority of changes have taken place inside the Q3, with the beautifully stitched, quilted and perforated seats to go along with red-faced instrument gauges. Outside, 20-inch RS-XF wheels in silver platinum are wrapped in 255/45R20 performance rubber with painted brake calipers shining through.

Audi announced plans to expand its SUV lineup with the unveiling of the Cross Coupe quattro concept at the 2007 Shanghai Motor Show. Ever since that unveiling, it has been pretty clear that the company is preparing a compact premium sports car with the spaciousness and versatility of a four-seat SUV.
When the Q3 finally arrived in production form at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show, it offered no big surprises, as its exterior language remained nearly identical to the concept. The Q3 is built on the same A5 (PQ35) platform as the Volkswagen Tiguan and at launch, Audi was offered with a choice of three engines, with a fourth engine – diesel one – coming at a later date.
The Q3 was put on sale in Europe in June 2011 and it received no updates since then, except the recent addition of the most powerful version in the lineup: the Q3 RS.

Audi has reported for quite some time that once the RS7 Sportback was unveiled, the RS Q3 would also arrive. And it will really happen, as the new sporty SUV will make its world debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Just today, Audi released the official information and images of the new RS Q3.
The model will be distinguished by the same bold and aggressive exterior look seen in all the recently announced RS models. The RS Q3 gets a unique front bumper with large air intakes, honeycomb mesh grille inserts, matte-aluminum trim, a tailgate-mounted spoiler and a prominent rear diffuser. The interior will have diamond-quilted leather seats featuring contrasting white stitching and lots of aluminum insertions.
In Germany the new RS Q3 will go on sale in fall 2013 at a price of €54,600 - about $75,500 at the current exchange rates.

Earlier this year at the Beijing Auto Show Audi has unveiled the Q3 RS concept that previews the production version for a more powerful, sportier Audi Q3. The Q3 RS has been confirmed for an official debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, just two months after the RS7 will also be joining the lineup.
Details on a production version Audi Q3 RS are still limited, but we presume it will borrow most of its design elements and technology from the concept version. Under the hood we will see a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine tuned to produce 355 horsepower, while the exterior will be distinguished by the usual RS design elements, including a black honeycomb grille, tinted headlights, a new bumper with graping air intakes, and a new set of larger, aluminum wheels.
Until we will get the final details on the upcoming Q3 RS check our new rendering to make an idea on how the sporty SUV will look like.
Earlier this year, at the Beijing Auto Show, Audi unveiled the RS Q3 Concept and everyone knew that a production version was just around the corner. In a recent interview with AutoCar, Quattro GmbH chief, Stephan Reil, confirmed that Audi’s high-performance RS division will be adding four new models to its lineup in 2013.
Two of these four new models will be a production version for the Q3 RS concept and the production version of the long-rumored RS7 luxury sedan. The first to arrive will be the RS7 — most likely in January 2013 at the Detroit Auto Show — while the Q3 RS may arrive in March 2013 at the Geneva Motor Show.
The upcoming Audi RS7 will likely be mechanically identical to the recently launched RS6 Avant, meaning it will be powered by a 4.0-liter TFSI V-8 engine with an output of about 560 ponies and a top speed of 190 mph. The Q3 RS, on the other hand, will most likely retain the engine used in the concept version: a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine tuned to produce 355 horsepower.

Remember the Audi Q3 Jinlong Yufeng Concept that was revealed at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show? Well, it turns out the German automaker has another Q3 concept SUV in the pipeline: the Red Track Concept.
Taken from its name, the Q3 Red Track Concept has been finished with a fiery piece of Energy Red color, an ironic color choice considering that the concept SUV is being pegged as a winter vehicle. How else do you explain the carbon fiber skis on its roof?
But more than just its supposed purpose, the Q3 Red Track Concept actually looks a whole lot like the Q3 Vail Concept, except that the former has some added aesthetic touches. Either way, the SUV looks all sorts of spicy in that aforementioned Energy Red color.
Too bad there’s been no official indication as to whether the Q3 Red Track Concept is bound for production. Whatever the case may be, expect to see the concept at the 2012 Wörthersee Tour, where it is expected to be one of the front and center models in Audi’s booth.

The Chinese phrase Jinlong Yufeng, when translated into English means "Golden Dragon in the Wing".
Appropriately, that’s what Audi named this special edition Q3 concept to commemorate the SUV’s launch in the Chinese market.
The Q3 Jinlong Yufeng, which is making its debut at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, comes finished in a special Liuli Yellow luminous monochrome paint and comes with plenty of add-on components that have been finished in matte quartz. In addition, Audi also added flared arches on the Q3, as well as steel side steps, a new radiator grille, and two carbon fiber-reinforced polymer kite boards that have been mounted on the roof of the SUV.
Inside, Audi went with a more luxurious design on the interior, complete with a titanium gray Alcantara roof liner, an instrument panel upholstered in black Fine Nappa Leather with matching yellow seams. The seats have been dressed in velvet leather while the dashboard comes with plenty of aluminum accents, steel decorative inlays, and gloss black trims.
As for the engine, the Q3 Jinlong Yufeng Concept is powered by a 2.5-liter five-cylinder TFSI engine that produces 310 horsepower and is capable of hitting 0-62 mph in just 5.5 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.
China’s ever-growing automotive market has became such a boon for a lot of automakers that concept vehicles that would otherwise be introduced in auto shows like Frankfurt or Geneva are already making their way to either Beijing or Shanghai.
For their part, Audi is bringing one of these concepts to the 2012 Beijing Auto Show: the 2013 Audi RS Q3 Concept. This concept serves as a response to some Audi drivers that just needed a little more “umph.”
The RS Q3 Concept is a fresh look at what an RS-badged Q3 crossover could look like and since Audi has just released the Q3, it appears that we won’t have to wait long to see a production model soon.
As for the concept itself, the RS Q3 Concept looks hot in its blue-and-black color scheme. As an RS model, Audi also added several RS elements to the concept’s overall look, including a black honeycomb grille, tinted headlights, a new bumper with graping air intakes, and a new set of 20" aluminum wheels. The RS Q3 is planned to borrow the same 2.5-liter engine from the Audi TT RS, so getting that little extra something should be simple for Audi lovers.
Unfortunately, the Q3 will not arrive in the U.S. until later in 2012, and the RS Q3 has yet to be mentioned in the same breath as the U.S. With the growing love for crossovers here, it may become a possibility. Also the fact that the TT RS finally made its way here greatly increases the chances of us U.S. buyers seeing the RS Q3. German tuner ABT Sportsline is bringing a host of new programs to the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, one of which is the QS3 program based on the Audi Q3.
Drawing on their expertise in building fantastic programs for Audis, ABT Sportsline took the Q3 and added a host of aesthetic and performance modifications on the crossover. On the outside, the QS3 program comes with a new body kit that consists of a completely redesigned front bumper fascia, front grill, door strip attachments, rear spoiler and a new rear bumper fascia. ABT also dressed up the Q3 with a full body graphics package that’s similar to what they did to the other vehicles they’re bringing to Geneva.
As far as performance improvements are concerned, the QS3 program comes with significant power increases for a number of the engine options available to the Q3. For starters, the 2.0 TDi version gets 205 horsepower, an increase from the 177-horsepower output of the standard model. Meanwhile, the 2.0 TFSI model scores an impressive 270 horsepower, up from the standard model’s 211-horsepower output.
The Audi QS3 will be joined by other ABT-tuned vehicles in Geneva, particularly the Audi AS6 Avant, the Volkswagen Beetle, and the Volkswagen Up!.
German tuning company, MTM, is prepared to make quite an impression at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and they’re doing so in a very colorful and patriotic manner.
One of the vehicle’s that are set to be on-hand in Geneva is a modified version of the Audi Q3 2.0 TFSI quattro. The obvious take-away from this particular Q3 is the vinyl body wrap which harkens to the colors of the German national flag. In addition to the visual homage to their motherland, MTM also put in a slew of new components, including a new rear diffuser, a lowered suspension, and a new set of 20" Bimoto alloy wheels wrapped in ZR rubber tires with a Brembo brake system that comes with 380 X 34 mm discs gripped by 8-piston calipers.
Under the hood of the Q3, MTM installed a new turbocharger kit that saw the output of the Audi crossover’s 2.0-liter TFSI engine spike from 170 horsepower all the way up to an impressive 310 horsepower. The significant bump in output - almost double! - allows the MTM-tuned Q3 to hit 0-62 mph in just 6.1 seconds with a increased top speed of 155 mph.
In the past, Audi has dazzled the crowds in Detroit with a number of vehicles, but in 2012, they have opted to only bring a Q3 Vail Concept equipped for the winter season. The concept was named after the famous winter sports venue in the United States and has been designed for young fans of winter sports who love skiing or snowboarding.
The Audi Q3 Vail is painted in a very cool Energy Red combined with add-on body parts in a matte gray quartz-based paint and vertical struts made from aluminum. The most striking elements, however, are the flared wheel arches and running boards, which Audi will incorporate into the extensive range of Q3 accessories. The front roof-rail support integrates compact, energy-efficient, wide-angled LED lights that illuminate the area around the Audi Q3 Vail. The concept sits on 8.5 J x 20 five-arm wheels.
For the interior, Audi is offering a combination of black, gray, and red. The headlining is made from titanium gray Alcantara and large parts of the interior, including the carpet, are black and edged with narrow strips of red velvet-finish leather.
The Q3 Vail Concept is powered by a 2.5-liter five-cylinder TFSI engine with direct injection and turbocharging that generates an output of 314 HP and 295.02 lb-ft of torque. The power is transferred to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system via a seven-speed S tronic transmission. The concept will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and can hit a top speed of 162.80 mph.
Now that Audi has released the Q3 SUV out on the market, people have started talking about a sportier version primed to deliver some 300 HP. A prototype of this model was secretly displayed at a press event in Switzerland and it was powered by the 2.5 liter TFSI engine currently found in the Audi RS3. Now, it looks as though we’ve caught a few glimpses of this hotter model as it took its turn around the Nurburgring.
The 300 HP turbocharged five cylinder engine hidden under the hood of the hotrod Q3 produces a good 90 HP over the standard Q3, a boost provided by the added ventilated brake discs and new aerodynamic package. This engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission and its power will be sent to all four wheels using Audi’s quattro system. The only thing left to uncover is the name of this new, more powerful Q3. Will it be the S, RS, or the plainly put Q3 2.5 TFSI? Only time will tell.
With just a few days before its official debut at the Shanghai Auto Show, Audi’s has unveiled the official details on their smallest SUV in the line-up, the Q3. At least the smallest at the moment, as it will be followed by the Q1 in the future years.
The Audi Q3 weights 3,307 lbs and measures 4.39 meters in 14.4 ft, 6.0 ft in width, and 5.25 ft in height, while the luggage compartment offers 16.24 to 48.2 cu ft of capacity. The Q3 will be available with all the latest technologies, including the MMI navigation plus – a hard drive navigation system – and the Bose surround sound system, with handsomely illuminated woofers up front.
Customers will have the chance to choose from three engines: one TDI and two TFSI units, with power ranging from 140 HP to 211 HP. A new diesel engine will be offered at a later date and will deliver an impressive fuel economy of 45.23 US mpg.
In Germany sales will begin in June at a price of 29,900 euro, or about $43,000 at the current exchange rates.

When BMW launched the X6 out on the market, many members of the press highly doubted that this "sports activity coupe" would stand a chance at success, but the customers spoke and the X6 turned out to be more successful than BMW itself expected. Then, soon after the surprising success of the X6, Acura brought their own version of the X6 and now Audi has announced plans to build their own version of the crossover to serve as competition to the original.
When talking about the X6 in an interview with Inside Line, Audi Group Design’s Wolfgang Egger said: "It has been a big success in China, where it’s become a second car driven by women. There, it’s a female sports car." He then added that Audi’s Q3 (pictured above) is just enough to serve as competition for the BMW, but he also said that Audi could do better. How much better is yet to be seen.
Egger also gave InsideLine some insight on other models in the Audi lineup. He said that the A1 line-up would include a five-door hatchback, a 180-HP S1, and a cabriolet. As for the Quattro concept, Egger said that it "wasn’t dead," but has yet to be confirmed for production.
It has been a very long time since we last heard about the upcoming Audi Q3, but with BMW launching the X1 small-SUV there was something to be expected from the four ringed automaker.
Prceeded by the Cross Coupe Quattro concept from the 2007 Shanghai Motor Show, the next Audi Q3 will go into production starting in 2011 at SEAT’s Martorelli plant in Barcelona.
The Q3 SUV will be built on the same platform as the Tiguan CUV and will be offered in both two and four-wheel drive versions. The engine line up will include 2.0 Liter TDI turbo diesel making either 138 HP or 168 HP, as well as the 2.0 Liter TFSI unit from the Golf GTI pumping out up to 207 HP.
The Volkswagen Group loves to get the most out of every platform, so it’s no surprise that Audi confirmed production plans for the Q3 small SUV. Making the most of the compact platform, the Audi Q3 will be to A3 just like the Tiguan is to the Golf. In fact, the Q3 will be built at the VW Group’s Martorell, Spain, facility where another platform sharer is already being built, the Seat Leon.
Like the rest of Audi’s SUV lineup, we expect this one to carry the quattro all-wheel drive system and have some sporty handling characteristics. No engine choices have been announced, but it will likely include the 2.0-liter turbocharged unit that currently tops the Tiguan range.
Although no sales plans have been announced, out of the all variations of the A3 lineup (including S3 and RS3), the Q3 is likely bound for the SUV-loving U.S.

The SUV segment has known a constant success even since its debut. Currently many sub-segments are emerging, one of the latest being the compact SUV. By 2010 most of the important producers will be featuring such a model. As shown to us by the recently presented Cross Coupe concept, Audi has such a project going on, and logically it should be launched in the next three years and marketed as the Q3.
