Sun Tracker builds pontoon barges of all shapes and sizes for a variety of specific purposes – and yes, throwing a party is a specific purpose! The compact, 2016 Party Barge 16 serves such a purpose, and is capable of carrying up to seven persons in comfort despite its small size. Serbian architecture and yacht design firm Salt & Water, an apt name for the company, has come up with a unique proposal to circumvent the strict rules and regulations on polluting remote lakes so vacation-goers can enjoy the beauty of what it describes as the “untouched and neglected” side of nature.

The proposal is as marvelous as it is bold. At the very least, it’s unique, or so it is when I’m picturing a floating catamaran that doubles as a posh, luxury hotel and apartment. If you can’t replicate the image in your head, don’t feel too bad. I had the same problem too until I saw Salt & Water’s design renderings of its proposal.

In a word, wow.

According to the Serbian design firm, the concept is actually pretty simple if you let your imaginations run loose a little bit. The most important part of this conceptual design is the permanently docked structure that serves as a reception area and a wharf of sorts, connecting the bank of the lake on one side and a handful of catamarans designed as hotels on the other side, similar to how boats are moored in a more traditional dock.

Each of these catamarans doubles as an apartment that can accommodate as many as four people. It’ll also have all the features and amenities you’ll need in a top-class apartments. There’s a salon, a galley, bathrooms, and a sleeping area. More importantly, you can take these floating apartments out of the dock should you want to enjoy the lake for yourselves. If you want to take a dip, the beach platform allows you to jump into the lake without so much of a hassle.

The proposal is still in its conceptual phase so there’s still a long way to go before we actually see these things in production. But it is a nifty idea from Salt & Water, one that I wouldn’t mind seeing come to life in the not-so-distant future.

With the stability of pontoons, a walk-around deck to fish from, a live well, seating and storage options few fishing boats have, and a bimini top for days of rain or sun, Sun Tracker’s 2015 Bass Buggy 16 DLX ET has an additional advantage: an electric outboard. Although priced similarly to many other fishing boats of the same size, the 16 DLX ET doesn’t include one essential accessory, a trailer. But it has 16 feet by 7 feet of deck space that’s 100 percent usable for fishing, with almost no chance of being tossed willy nilly into the water by an errant boat or jet ski’s wake.

Visually appealing and built in Rochefort, France, by Bavaria Yachts, the Nautitech 40 couples solid mechanical specs with an interior that offers a sense of space. Experienced sailors can see its potential as an ocean cruiser or charter boat, while the less ambitious can downsize it from a four-cabin configuration to three cabins for lazy live-aboard summer afternoons.

Porsche doesn’t just make sports cars that make boys of all ages drool; it also has design and engineering arms that make other great toys. Porsche Design Group has announced today the begining of a new partenership with Royal Falcon Fleet, a yacht builder based in Singapore. The first project is what you see in the photo above, a motor catamaran that is over 130 feet long. The entire yacht as well as the design will involve the Porsche Design Group.

On Saturday 1600 hours, RORC race management announced a 24 hour delay for the start of the Rolex Fastnet Race (initially planned for Sunday 12th August) with the possibility of an ensuing postponement.
