Some time back, MV Agusta created a special division called the Reparto Veicoli Speciali, or Special Vehicles Department, and handed them the task of creating the best MV Agusta machines that beam in terms of quality, research, performance, and emotions. This division was joined by the San Marino Research Center Castiglioni (born initially as CRC, Cagiva Research Center) to work on the brand’s Brutale Dragster 800 RR and come out with an evil looking motorcycle that will scare the daylights out of anything on the road.

Enter the RVS#1. Now, MV folks have released a ‘corporate video’ of this machine being built to rekindle their faith in customers who might have otherwise lost touch with the brand’s etiquettes amongst the recent financial scandals that put MV in troubled waters.

Yamaha showcased a ADV concept model at the 2017 EICMA and badged it with a new name, ’Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid’. Previous to that, Yamaha had showcased its mid-weight adventure concept last year and called it the ‘T7 concept’. It was then we knew that the Japanese guys are coming up with a winner in the adventure class for the next year.

Apparently, they need to further develop the machine by testing it on public roads and now, it looks like they are one step closer to giving us their mid-weight ADV machine. Essentially, Yamaha took the naked MT-07 (FZ-07 before) and added a bunch of things, or rather removed, to give us a focused ADV concept model that will take you over anything that has ‘earth’ written on it.

Now, their production prototype is tearing apart the Australian outbacks showing us the promising capabilities the Tenere inhibits.

Motorcycles come with different variation in engine sizes, displacement, configuration and firing order. All of them factor in making the bike gets its signature sound and orchestra to our ears. For example, an even-firing engine, say an in-line four, will give a smoother audible tone having a higher frequency while a V-twin motor gives out a barking rumble.

People love their own choices. Some love the sound of British Twins, while a few like the Japanese fours. Americans are proud of the V-Twin roars, and the Italians make their own sounds. Major manufacturers have sound engineers working on controlling vibrations of the bike and the engine, making bikes from that particular bike sound similar.

Single cylinder engines are called as “Thumpers” since they have only one firing order. The engine fires evenly, but the interval is only once every 720 degrees. Here is a video capturing the different sounds made by motorcycles that vary from carrying a single cylinder, all the way up to eight cylinders.

After their Bonneville range, it’s the Tiger models that give the British brand their numbers. So much that Triumph feels no inhibitions with having six different models with their 1200 and 800 series. The top of the range XRT is the road going version whereas the XCA is the top-spec off-road ones.

As regularly updating their line-ups go, Triumph is giving their 2018 Tiger range a host of bells and whistles that will boast of having it ’Transformed,’ with a ’New Tiger Triple Engine’ and ’New Tiger Technology.’ Apart from this, the bodywork also gets mild updates to look fresh for 2018.

Commuter motorcycles are...well…used to commute basically. But for many folks in Africa and India, carry anything and everything under the sun on these puny little machines. Free from stuff like a roof, windows or doors, you can carry some surprisingly tall, long or wide objects on a motorcycle.

How about long poles for drying fish?? Weird right? Not according to Richard Hammond.

For the season finale, the chaps of the motoring show Grand Tour have embarked on a journey to end world hunger (Just the small village of Bingo in Mozambique they mean). And Richard Hammond has opted to travel 200 miles transporting fish on a 99cc TVS Star HLX across Mozambique.

Squarespace, in its 14 years of existence, has become one of the biggest website manufacturing platform today. Most of its success, of course, goes to their quirky and easy templates, but their sensational marketing and weird advertising campaigns which previously included high-profile actors like Jeff Bridges and John Malkovich gave them the millions of users using its services today.

In their new adventure, Squarespace ran a 30-second commercial worth a whopping $5 million during the recently concluded high-profile Superbowl championship with one of its high-profile customer, Keanu Reeves, and his Arch Motorcycles.

Serving 100 million happy customers is a well-achieved milestone for any business, and no other manufacturer but Honda could have made it seem this easy. Being the first two-wheeler to cross such a mark is the Japanese Red Wing’s Super Cub that began its life way back in 1958.

As a matter of fact, 2018 bears a distinct significance for the Super Cub, marking its 60th anniversary. And to commemorate this Honda has released a video showcasing the journey from the factory to the showroom floors

The Japanese Red Wing manufacturer had teased their Neo Sports Cafe project a couple of weeks back which showed us a few glimpses of the naked and short silhouette early on. It went to show the swooping tank design, bench seat, curved handlebars, LED headlight cluster, LED indicators, dual front brake discs with radial calipers and mag wheels.

Now, Honda has launched the second teaser video that highlights the silhouette stronger than before which is a close impression of their concept model showcased at the previous Bangkok International Motor Show. This Project NSC also has a few bits taken from the CB4 concept displayed at EICMA two years ago.

We all know what Lewis Hamilton is capable with his Mercedes F1 W08 EQ Power+ on the Formula One circuits around the world. Already amassing 306 points this calendar season, Hamilton is leading the championship with a cool 59 points and is on the path to get his 4th World Championship title.

This time, the champ is going blazing around the Pirelli Proving Ground (Vizzola Ticino, Italy) circuit, but not in his W08 car. He is wearing a suit and a helmet, yes, but instead of getting into a confined cockpit he throws a leg over a two-wheeled Italian beauty he helped create, the MV Agusta F4 LH44.

Is what Honda says about its newest adventure, the 2018 Honda Goldwing. But before we go to the next big thing, Honda wants to remember the past of the glorious Goldwing. What started as a vision to create the ’King of Kings’, has resulted in a legendary machine that journeyed straight into the hearts of countless thousands.

Tracing that very path all the way back from 1975, the Japanese Red has released the video that celebrates the Goldwing’s touring history with the world. With that, we also have a date stamp of the launch of the next generation Goldwing that will make touring an all-new phenomenon - 24th October 2017.

To put things into perspective, that is less than the time it took for you even to read half of the title of this article.

One of my fondest memory of my childhood was a red tricycle my dad gifted me for my birthday. It used to be my transportation, dinner table, shopping cart and a lot of other things. In fact, I even learned my first drift lessons on that tricycle. But then one day, life happened, and I never saw it again.

Fast forward a couple of decades and out comes this French lunatic known as François Gissy who just made the fastest accelerating thing on three wheels ever. Making use of a 6000 psi water tank, he did the 0-60 in half a second and went all the way to 162 mph.

When all of us rant about wearing your helmet and your riding jacket at all times on the road, we weren’t just being pushy. Every motorcyclist would have had a bad fall on their ride at one point or the other and some might even have succumbed to it, unfortunately. And most often than not, that would be because the rider just did not care enough to protect his head or his body from the fall.

A few get lucky without a scratch on their body and a few come out with broken bones and fractures. Nonetheless, it is common sense that a helmet and protective suit and gear goes a long distance in minimising the effect of a fall. That is exactly what happened to Chris Matheson here who flew off his drag racer at 250 mph.

Ducati’s teaser tour ahead of the 2015 EICMA Motorcycle Show continues with the release of the “This Is X” teaser campaign. Those who have been following Borno Panigale’s recent attempts to hype its participation at the EICMA show should remember the “This Is Black” campaign that it rolled out in September 2015. Well, consider “This Is X” to be the follow up to that.

To no one’s surprise, the “This Is X” teaser is as vague and mysterious as its predecessor. It really doesn’t show or talk about anything specifically related to Ducati other than the brief second where the company’s logo appears towards the end. But the big chunk of the teaser alludes to various things like the “intersection of worlds” and the “multiplication of potential.”

Those are definitely words to live by if you’re a poet of some sort, but I highly doubt that anybody who watched the video knows what Ducati is talking about exactly. Adding to the confusion is the prevalent signs and allusions to the letter “X,” all of which explains absolutely nothing that can point to what Ducati’s plans are.

My best guess on the meaning of “X” is that it’s a new model that will make its debut at EICMA. Sure, it’s not a groundbreaking declaration, but I’m actually referring to a bike that may be the first of its kind for Ducati. We already know that the 959 Panigale and the Hypermotard 939 will be shown at EICMA, but don’t be surprised if another bike model, perhaps a crossover of some sort, shows up in Ducati’s booth.

The 12th edition of the KTM Adventure Rider Rally took place in late September 2015 in Crested Butte, Colorado. As expected, the event was a resounding success.

Created to give riders of all skill levels the chance to earn their stripes and learn from the best in the business, the Adventure Rider Rally once again drew hundreds of riders to Crested Butte where they got a chance to interact and ride with some of KTM’s top riders, including Quinn Cody, Andrew Short, Chris Fillmore, Mike Lafferty, Russell Bobbitt, and Paul Krause. The event wasn’t just your typical meet-and-greet; it also gave up-and-coming riders a chance to test their skills against the aforementioned KTM riders.

KTM even released a short video of highlights of the Adventure Rider Rally and judging by the testimonials from those who attended the event, the annual gathering is living through its purpose of providing a place for KTM enthusiasts to come together and enjoy the experience of riding their respective KTM bikes in a picturesque place like Crested Butte.

There’s a reason why the Adventure Rider Rally is still going strong for 12 straight years now. There’s no event quite like it for KTM enthusiasts and as long as there are riders who continue patronizing the Austrian motorcycle brand, the Adventure Rider Rally will continue to be a staple and a circled date in the calendars of KTM riders of all shapes and sizes.

There’s been a lot of hype surrounding the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto and the KTM-owned brand hasn’t been shy about touting its supermotobike to the public. Over the past few months, we’ve seen Husqvarna launch a dedicated microsite for the 701 and release a promotional video of the bike running roughshod over a makeshift track on the surface of a frozen lake in Sweden. Now, Husky’s taking it one step further with the release of a new promo video of its new supermoto bike stretching its legs in its natural habitat: a race track.

The video shows the 701 completely at home in this element, taking any semblance of stunt riding out of the equation. The bike looks quick, agile, and totally in control of its surroundings and it’s a little rewarding to see it navigate around the track with aplomb, hitting apexes with ease and executing perfect lean angles on corners. It’s the kind of environment that the 701 was built for. Watching and listening to it run around the track is already giving me goosebumps on what it can do when it lines up against other 450cc bikes in actual competition.

I can’t tell at this point how the 701 Supermoto will do against its rivals, but judging from this new video alone, I’d be very confident in its chances, weight issues notwithstanding.

Dream Racer, the critically acclaimed film based on the Dakar Rally, has won the “Best Feature Film” award at the New York 2015 Motorcycle Film Festival. It’s the latest in a series of accolades the film has received, following similar achievements in other film festivals. In addition to its latest triumph, Dream Racer also bagged the “Human Values & Sport Award” at the Barcelona International Sports Film Festival; the “Best Foreign Feature Documentary Award” at the Los Angeles All Sports Film Festival; and the “Mention D’Honneur” at the Milan International FICTS Festival.

We’ve featured the rally in these pages in the past and we can attest to how difficult it is to finish, let alone compete in. Participants actually have to endure 15 days and close to 6,300 miles of desert terrain just to be able to complete the race. It’s no wonder that over 50 percent of participants don’t even make it to the finish line. But this film isn’t so much about the Dakar Rally itself as it is about the journey of Christophe Barriere-Varju, a man who made it his personal goal to complete the race.

Like everyone else who enters it, Barriere-Varju’s quest didn’t come with its share of setbacks. But through it all, he persevered, overcoming fatigue, injuries, and tragedy to successfully say that the achieved his dream. It’s arguably one of the most inspirational films you’ll ever get to watch so if you need a little kick to get you dreaming once again, Dream Racer will give you that…and then some.
