If it looks like a 370Z and it sounds like a 370Z, then it must be a 370Z. In Japan, Nissan has used historically the Fairlady name on its sports cars, including the entire line on Z cars. So, its the same car as the U.S., it just has the steering wheel on the other side. Just like in the U.S. this marks the 40th anniversary of the Z car.
The new Fairlady Z’s enhanced performance characteristics are a result of its shorter wheelbase, reduced weight and the adoption of the larger, more powerful VQ37VHR 3.7-liter V6 engine. It also offers the world’s first 6-speed manual transmission with synchronized rev control or a newly developed 7-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift mode. The combination of more horsepower, new transmissions and a refined suspension helps the Fairlady Z deliver the superior acceleration, cornering and stopping capabilities expected of a true world-class sports car.
The VQ37VHR engine delivers 332 hp at at 7000 rpm and maximum torque of 270 lbs-ft at 5200 rpm. Combining power with ease of driving, this remarkable engine accelerates effortlessly and smoothly all the way to the high-speed range.

Best Cars Of 2021
With the pandemic still looming over our heads, 2021 was a pretty action-packed year for the auto industry. Sure, you had challenges, with automakers having to contend with issues like chip shortages, causing delays to consumers. But regardless, the show had to go on and we got some pretty cool cars making their debut, predominantly towards the latter half of 2021.
Let’s get one thing out of the way, 2021 really was also the year, when the market as a whole began to embrace EV’s and you could see several automakers both the legacy as well as EV startups bring several new models to market. Having said that, we did see some pretty cool ICE cars, also make their debut. Now there were several cars that made headlines this year, it was very difficult to pick out the best ones, but the cars on this list definitely stood out. Here’s our list of some of the most highly anticipated and important cars that were unveiled in 2021.
Retro JDM Comparison: Toyota Supra Vs Nissan 300ZX Vs Mazda RX-7
Japanese sports cars from the 1990s are some of the most recognized ones amongst the car culture. As described by Jeremy Clarkson, in a movie about the Nissan Skyline GT-R, Japan took over the world…and then lost it. While the latter is a topic for another time, what is true for the Skyline also goes for these three – the Toyota Supra, Nissan 300Z, and Mazda RX-7. Our colleagues from “EverydayDriver” - Todd Deeken and Paul Schmucker - take us on a spirited drive with these three JDM legends to determine the pros and cons of each and why they are so desired.
2022 Nissan Z GT500 Is Ready To Take On The Super GT Series
Right after Nissan unveiled the 2023 Z sports car, Jonsibal came with a rendering for the future GT 500 race car. And guess what? Now that Nismo and Nissan finally unveiled the "production version" GT 500, we have to admit, Jonsibal was very close to the reality. The 2022 GT 500 race car was unveiled at the Fuji International Speedway and will be raced in the 2022 Super GT Series.
2023 Nissan Z Spotted Out In The Open And Boy Does It Sound Good
Prior to its debut about two months ago, sightings of test mules of the Nissan Z were quite common, and the car was spotted countless times. But since the new Z is now finally out, it seems like those test cars have ditched the camouflage.
These Nissan Z Roadster Renderings Make Us Dream
Nissan still has to make a decision about offering a successor for the 370Z Roadster, but this doesn’t mean we can not dream about one. And when we see renderings like the ones coming from sugardesign_1, we really hope the new Nissan Z will also be offered as a roadster.
This is the Nissan Z Race Car The World Deserves
The long-awaited Nissan Z has finally been unveiled. With that out of the way, many wonder, what’s next? We know there will be a NISMO version at some point and, no doubt, there will be a facelift in a couple of years, especially if they make it as long as the 370Z (I hope not). Nissan has a rich racing history and the Z is a big part of it, which is why independent automotive designer and illustrator, JONSIBAL is introducing a JGTC-inspired version of the new Z.
2023 Nissan Z
The new Z is more aggressive, more stylish, and will probably lure you with its absolute madness that is a not-so-expensive price tag. Does the new Nissan Z hold up to the name and is it an improvement over teh outgoing 370Z? Keep reading to find out.
The New Nissan Z Was Kind Of Developed With Inspiration From the Toyota 86
For the longest time, fans have been begging Toyota to turbocharge the Toyota 86 and, ultimately, make it faster. But, Toyota has remained firm on its stance of remaining naturally aspirated, and it all boils down to the Toyota 86’s driving dynamics. What does that have to do with the Nissan Z? Well, the Nissan Z was built on the very same premise. It might feature a potent, 400-horsepower, turbocharged V-6, but at the end of the day, it’s not about numbers, it’s about the pleasure of driving; It’s about driver and car becoming one. And, if you don’t believe me, maybe taking it from Nissan’s Chief Engineer, Hiroshi Tamura, will help you see the light.
Here’s Why You Don’t Need To Wait For An Updated Nissan Z
The Nissan Z finally made its official debut on 18th August 2021 and you will be able to order yours in spring 2022. With this in mind, a question you may be asking is “should I wait for the updated version?” The Nissan Z, like all other cars, will eventually receive a facelift. Although we can only guess how an updated version of the car would look like, it’s common knowledge that facelifted versions fix all (or at least some) imperfections of new models. However, this may not necessarily be the case with the Nissan Z, so is there really a need to wait a few years to get one?
The New Nissan Z400 vs Z Proto: What’s Different Between The Production-Spec Z And The Concept?
This Rendering Shows Us Exactly How The Nissan Z’s Front-End Will Look After It’s ’Fixed’
The Nissan Z is finally here and we are happy to see that Nissan kept their word. The concept was said to be 95 percent, the production car and it turned out to be true. As always, TheSketchMonkey gives us a YouTube video, in which he “fixes” the Nissan Z’s looks. What makes this video different from most other videos, we’ve seen is that Nissan might actually make these changes itself when it comes time to refresh the new Z.
History Of The Nissan Fairlady Z - A Look At How The Japanese Compact Sportscar Has Evolved Over The Years
It goes without saying that the Nissan Z is one of the most anticipated vehicles this year. The seventh generation of the Japanese performance coupe just made its official debut. The 2023 Nissan Z is the next chapter in the history of the Fairlady Z. With this in mind, let’s take a look at all those that came before it and trace the evolution of the iconic model.
Nissan’s Decision To Offer A Manual Gearbox On The 2023 Z Proves That Stick Shift Isn’t Dead Just Yet
The wait is over. Nissan has finally taken the wraps off of its all-new Z for the 2023 model year in New York. It is one of the most highly anticipated cars of 2021 since Nissan showed us the Z Proto about a year ago. Test mules of the car were also spotted countless times. The design stays true to the concept of the Proto and is reminiscent of some classic Z cars like the 240 Z and the 300 Z from the 70s and the 80s respectively.
2023 Nissan Z Breaks Cover With 400 Horses And A Manual Gearbox
Almost a year after unveiling the Z Proto, Nissan has finally launched the compact sports car in New York City. The Nissan Z looks nearly identical to the concept and comes with a V-6 engine under the hood that makes 400 horses. It will also come with a manual gearbox as standard. A limited ‘Z Proto Spec’ model will also be available. As for the price, Nissan says it will start at around $40,000.
What To Expect From The 2022 Nissan Z
There has been a lot of hype, drama, and rumors surrounding the 2022 Nissan Z with everything ranging from Nissan killing off the Z altogether to how much it will cost and that it could even be offered as an SUV. With so much news and so many rumors over the past couple of years, it’s time we lay it all out on the table. So, this is what you need to know about the Nissan 400Z and what to expect when it debuts on August 17, 2021.
Don’t Be Fooled Into Believing What You’re Hearing About the Nissan Z and Z Nismo
Despite rumors that Nissan was killing off the Z car altogether, September of 2020 brought with it the good news that was the Z proto – a nearly production-ready prototype that will retire the long-lived 370Z with a lot of retro-inspired goodness. The production version of the new Nissan Z will be revealed on August 17, 2021, and now a new report signs a faint glimmer of light on hope that the Nissan Z Nismo will be revealed not long after that. There’s only one problem – the source isn’t exactly the most reputable.
A New Rumor Says The 2022 Nissan Z Will Be On Sale Very Soon
The Nissan 370Z is a great, affordable sports car that offers decent performance, but there comes a time when you have no choice but to put an old dog down. And, after 13 years on the market, that’s exactly what’s happening and why we’re super stoked for the new Nissan Z to hit the market. Rumor has it that it’s supposed to debut in late 2021 as a 2022 model, and the latest leak says that it could happen just in time to order yourself a nice, sexy Christmas present on four wheels.
Here’s Why The 2022 Nissan Z Is Better Than You Think
The 2022 Nissan Z is currently one of the hottest cars around, even before it has actually gone on sale. After 13 years of milking the 370Z, the Japanese brand has finally come up with a new Z-car. The formula is the same – two seats, rear-wheel-drive, a powerful engine up front, and a manual gearbox (unless you get the automatic). Essentially, it’s a proper old-school sports car. That said, a known fact is that the new Z will carry a lot of stuff over from the 370Z. In the minds of some, this hardly justifies the purchase of the new Z, but we are here to tell you why using bits from the 370Z is actually a very good thing!
The Nissan Z Is Special But Because It’s The Definition of Affordable Performance
Given the chance, I’m willing to bet that 90-percent of the car-loving population would be more than happy to drive a Nissan GT-R or, even better yet, the Nissan GT-R Nismo. Of course, 89-percent of that original 90-percent will never get the chance to get behind the wheel, not because the GT-R is hard to find but because it’s hard to afford. If you were to cruise into a Nissan dealership right now, you’d have to pony up at least $113,540 just for a base model GT-R. If you want to go all out and get the Godzilla of Godzilla’s – the GT-R Nismo – you’ll have to spend nearly double that or $210,740. And, that’s where the Nissan Z comes in.
The 2023 Nissan 400Z Nismo Could Have the Current GT-R’s Engine!
Nissan’s upcoming Z-car is one of, if not, the most talked-about vehicles in 2021. After the 13-year production run of the 370Z, it was about time for a replacement to come around. Nissan has been very secretive about the exact specs of the new Z-car and the only thing we know for sure is that US prices will start at around $35,000. However, sometimes information leaks way before it was intended to. Such is the case with what we are about to share.
Will the Nissan 400Z Be Worth the Price?
The next Z-car from Nissan is one of the most talked-about cars at the moment. It promises a visceral driving experience, great chassis, and retro-futuristic styling. I’m sure many of you are familiar with the letter “Z” and the cars that feature it. This is the latest one. Referred to as the 400Z, the Japanese sports car looks back to its predecessors and takes some of the best features from each of them. So far it all looks good. But as we are all wondering, will Nissan price the car right?
This Modded Fairlady Z Proves That Less Is More
You’ve all heard the phrase “power is nothing without control”. Although it’s one of the oldest clichés, there is truth to that. If you’ve watched “Mighty Car Mods”, you might remember that Blair fell in love with a Datsun 240-Z, went to Japan, and took it back home to Australia. The car was in its original state when bought, but since the channel name is “Mighty Car Mods”, it was clear it wouldn’t have stayed original for long.
1972 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG
In case you were unaware, the high-end collectible car market in the U.S. is finally starting to recognize all the great classics hailing from the Land of the Rising Sun. While European and American sports cars have always held a place of prominence, Japanese rides are now making some serious parallel headway, carving out a real niche at some of the biggest auctions of the year. One of the most easily recognized classic Japanese models has to be the original Nissan Z, known stateside as the Datsun 240 Z. Offering timeless good looks, excellent handling, plenty of power, and a great noise from the exhaust, the original Z brought modern Japanese technology to the masses, and is now highly sought after in the collector market. One of the rarer and more visually appealing examples of the early Z is the ZG, also known as the HS30-H Nissan Fairlady ZG, which brought even more style to bear with the addition of several unique body components, plus a sharper driving experience with new drivetrain components.

Seriously, Nissan? Give us a New Freaking Z-Car Already!!!
With the Nissan 370Z debuting way back in 2008, it’s about damn time for Nissan to bless us with a new successor. Sure, it’s been updated on a somewhat regular basis and is fairly modern at this point, but its replacement is long overdue. Unfortunately, Nissan doesn’t see it that way, and instead of bringing us a new Z-car for 2018, we end up getting the 370Z Heritage edition. That model gets revised exterior lights, and some special paint to trim inside and out. Outside of the new Exedy, high-performance clutch, it’s just another damned special edition. I was really hoping Nissan blew its special-edition budget with all of those pointless special editions in Chicago earlier this year, but I guess not.
The worst part is that the Z-Car’s next big move is so clouded in mystery and uncertainty that it’s enough to give just about any enthusiast a raging hate boner and then some. So, where does the road to the next Z-Car take us? At this point, your guess is as good as any because Nissan doesn’t even know. In fact, in light of that new “Heritage Edition” I mentioned earlier, Nissan may make the next Z a damned crossover… Yikes! Back in 2014, we heard that news that the next Z-car would have multiple engine options, including a four-cylinder hybrid engine (for those of you who don’t know, the Z has always had a six-cylinder.) In mid-2015, it was said that the next Z-car would be a revolution, with hints that it would take on the Toyota 86, which means it’s going to lose in the power department and probably get a little smaller.
But, that’s not the latest news either. Just six months or so ago, fuel was added to the fire when Car Advice reported the next Z-Car would be a crossover, and it was backed up thanks to the Gripz concept that we saw in 2015. And, the trail goes cold yet again, with 2018 bringing us the “Heritage Edition” that will be previewed at the New York Auto Show.

We cover a lot of automotive-related material here at TopSpeed. From the latest and greatest vehicles with promises of fast quarter-mile times, insane 0-to-60 sprints, and the occasional gravel-shredding off-roader, it’s all about the newest and fastest.
But sometimes, you just have to slow down and enjoy the drive — to bask in every last mile of a pure driving experience in a pure sports car. That’s exactly what one man set out to do.
Scott Fisher and his beloved 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster are on a meandering mission to travel the United States in a clockwise fashion, while soaking in the experience on the timeless journey. No schedules needed.
Fisher started his epic journey last spring from his home in Las Vegas after selling his manufacturing business that he ran for 16 long years. It has since taken him over 30,000 miles through the American heartland, rolling over local highways and byways, while avoiding major routes and interstates “like the plague.” And it was all done in his beautiful ’67 Fairlady.
“I knew I needed to kinda’ get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back,” the 45-year-old man says. His journey has taken him north through the Pacific Northwest and over through the flyover states. Fisher’s goal was to stay up north during the summer months to avoid the extreme heat and sun exposure. “[It’s] allowed me to keep the top down, maybe 80 percent of the time.”

For all of the attention being paid to Gran Turismo 6, Forza 5 must be feeling pretty left out. So, in an attempt to steal some of the spotlight back, game developer Turn 10 Studios has released a new downloadable content for the Xbox game, called the IGN Car Pack.
Made up of 10 very diverse models, the IGN Car Pack features a wide variety of rides ranging from old supercars like the 1957 Ferrari 250 California, the 2002 Ferrari 575M Maranello and the Lamborghini Reventon, to present-day makes like the 2013 Caterham Superlight R500, and the 2014 Mercedes A45 AMG), and old-school classics like the 1977 Ford Escort RS1800, the 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS 409, the 1969 Nissan Fairlady Z 432, and the 1984 Peugeot 205 T16.
There’s a lot to like about the list, although we would’ve liked to seen a bigger list than the one the IGN Car Pack has. If anything, Turn 10 Studios needs to get its game up to another level because its nemesis, Gran Turismo 6, is doing it these days in spades.

A classic Nissan Fairlady is a dream car for any car enthusiast out there and, although most do not see owning one of these rarities in their near future, Bingo Sports actually has one on sale with just 7,462 miles on the odometer. Pretty nice, huh? The 1970 Nissan Fairlady Z432 is available for sale at 880 million yen.
Nissan unveiled the first generation Fairlady Z in 1969. Known as the S60, it was powered by a 2.0 liter straight-6 engine producing a total of 150 HP. The more powerful version, the Z432 was limited to only 420 units. The 432 referred to 4 valves per cylinder, 3 carburetors, and 2 cams.
The Z432 is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-six S20 engine that delivers a total of 160-HP and 177Nm of torque as the Skyline GT-R . The engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The vehicle has been fully restored, both inside and out, and kept in museum conditions. It gets Magnesium wheels and a unique exhaust system with dual vertical tail pipes.
For those of you who live in USA, check the article about the 370Z.
