About a week before the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show, Subaru revealed the JDM-spec Solterra, an EV that essentially represents the brands future, and one that is built in collaboration with Toyota. Twined with the Toyota BZ4X, the aesthetic appearance and badges are pretty much the only thing that separate this Subaru from the Toyota. As is the case with the BZ4X, we’re finally getting U.S. specifications for the new Solterra, and we’re wondering if it’s actually good enough or if Subaru missed the mark.

Over the past few months, Kia has revealed the all-new Sportage twice. In July we got our first look at the new Sportage, and then in October, Kia revealed the Euro-spec Sportage - a first for the model. The biggest highlights include a bold and sporty exterior design, a stylish cabin, and a brand-new (optional) 2.5-liter engine. Today, at the L.A. Auto Show, Kia revealed the all-new Kia Sportage Hybrid, and it offers up to 500 miles (805 km) of range on a single tank of gas.

The Nissan Rogue went through a thorough facelift for the 2021 model year, bringing Juke-like DNA and an impressive interior, but subpar performance. Its biggest flaw, and it was a very big flaw, was the underpowered 2.5-liter four-cylinder that delivered just 181 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. During our test drive of the Rogue, we found it to be a beautiful car inside and out, but it was sluggish and unrefined on the road, and that’s putting it nicely. Fortunately, Nissan heard everyone out and decided to remedy the situation for 2022 – by introducing a new three-cylinder engine. Does it sound underwhelming yet again? I can’t blame you for thinking that way but hear me out before you write it off completely.

Right around the same time that Hyundai revealed its new SEVEN Concept, Kia revealed the new EV9 concept, which is arguably, a little more production ready. Like the SEVEN Concept, the EV9 previews a real production model, but it’s not quite so large, and has more of an aggressive exterior appearance while the interior has hints of luxury all around. Is this the future of Kia? We certainly hope so.

Hyundai is growing its electric fleet of vehicles as fast as it can, with the 2022 Ioniq 5 poised to be a solid alternative to the Tesla Model 3 This car, and its push of the Ioniq sub-brand has proven how resilient the automotive sector is, and now the Seven Concept pushes that idea a step further. The Ioniq 5 serves as the compact hatchback\crossover and the SEVEN represents a full-size EV that Hyundai will begin marketing in the very near future.

The Fisker Ocean made its official debut, at the 2021 LA Auto show. However, a sneak peek of the all-electric SUV was given yesterday evening at Manhattan Beach (where Fisker is headquartered) in LA. Considering that vehicle is called Ocean, it was only fitting to have the stunning pacific ocean as the backdrop for this reveal.

Next to the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody Jailbreak, Dodge is applying the same "Jailbreak" treatment to the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. Both models will be on display at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show and will on sale toward the end of 2021. The new "Jailbreak" packages was priced at $995.

Dodge comes to the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show with a very interesting edition offered for both the Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. Its name is "Jailbreak" and if you are wondering why, the explanation is simple: the new edition will unlock a series of color combinations never offered before and will add new factory-custom options.

The new special edition is part of Dodge "Never Lift" campaign that will bring new models and initiatives over the next two years. It will go on sale in the late fourth quarter of 2021 and the price for the package was set at $995.

Porsche is on a row, as it announces special editions of its 911 and 718 models. At this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show they, once again, introduced a track-only version of the Cayman, called the GT4 RS Clubsport. The mid-engine race car from Weisscach is based on the Porsche 718 GT4 RS, which also debuts on this year’s auto exhibition, in Los Angeles.

Porsche has taken the wraps off of their all-new 718 Cayman GT4 RS at the LA Auto Show, and this new model is the flagship offering in the Cayman lineup.

The Taycan has been Porsche’s best-selling non-SUV so far in 2021, so it was no surprise when Porsche ushered in some pretty decent improvements for the 2020 model year, nor was it a surprise when the brand launched the off-road focused Taycan Cross Turismo. It’s pretty obvious that Porsche is dead set on expanding the Taycan into what could almost be its own standalone brand, with rumors indicating that we could even see a Taycan Coupe, Turismo, or road-focused Sport Turismo wagon. Well, as it turns out, Porsche showed up to the L.A. Auto Show with not one but two new Taycans – the aforementioned Taycan Sport Turismo and the new Taycan GTS. It seems Christmas has come a little early this year, folks.

KIA is planning on fully revealing the EV9 SUV on November 17 at the Los Angeles Auto show, but before that has happened, the brand has released some new teaser images.

KIA has released a collection of official sketches of its upcoming EV9 Concept as part of the "Kia Sustainability Movement”. The images of the concept show off both the exterior and interior of the Concept EV9.

First hitting the market in January of 1996, the Lexus LX nameplate has evolved through three separate generations over the years, with the latest J200 iteration arriving in 2007. Based heavily on the Toyota Land Cruiser, the Lexus LX is the premium Japanese brand’s take on full-size luxury SUV transport, comfortably seating up to eight passengers and offering a good deal of capability if road conditions are less than ideal. However, according to Lexus, “some customers indicated they did not use the third row and expressed a preference for more interior cargo space,” and as a result, the 2018 model year gets a bit of switch-up in the cabin. Introduced as the LX 570 at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, the third-row bench was tossed to accommodate more junk in the trunk, all while keeping the same capability and comfort found in the LX’s eight-seater counterparts.

Lexus says the LX 570 is aimed at “smaller families, empty nesters and multiple-vehicle households, [customers who] are more likely to travel with fewer passengers but more carry-on gear. Among the activities they enjoy are skiing, cycling, kayaking, and golf, along with such hobbies as nature photography and antique collecting. Some also wanted more versatility for carrying their dogs.” So – does the LX really work better with fewer seats and more cargo?

The 2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS is the range-topping version of the third-generation SUV, launched in 2019 for the 2020 model year. It’s the second Maybach SUV ever built after the 2018 G650 Landaulet, but the first one that’s not a limited-edition vehicle. Inspired by the Maybach S-Class,, the 2021 Maybach GLS is a fancied up GLS with extra luxury features, exclusive appointments, and a unique drivetrain. Performance-wise, it slots between the GLS 580 and the AMG GLS 63 S., And just like the rest of the lineup, its gasoline engine works in conjunction with a 48-volt EQ Boost system. We know that you’ve probably seen the Corsair before – it was released earlier this year, but new for 2020 is the Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring. This Corsair itself is aimed at the younger crowd that don’t need three rows of seating and desire a little more space and now the Grand Touring trim steps in to provide even better fuel economy for those that are more green conscious.

It might not be quite as powerful as the non-hybrid, but the 2.5-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors are said to produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 266 horsepower and Lincoln is “anticipating” a range of 25 miles. AWD also comes courtesy of the electric motors as they exclusively power the rear wheels while the engine handles the duty of driving the front wheels.

In terms of appearance, the Corsair Grand Touring doesn’t stand out my way of any real unique aestetic features, so aside from the exterior badges and the ability to drive silently for a limited period of time, there’s not much else to report. If you didn’t realize that there was a gap between the Kia Soul and the Kia Sportage, well, don’t feel bad because we didn’t either. But, it’s all good, because Kia has managed to fill that gap with a model known as the Seltos. It celebrated its U.S. launch at the 2019 Los Angels Auto Show after being introduced a couple of months before that in India. Naturally, there are some minor changes to make it meet U.S. regulations, but for the most part, we’re looking at a compact SUV with some Telluride-inspired design cues and enough ground clearance that you could actually take it off the beaten path if you really wanted to.

The real highlight of the Seltos is its cargo capacity. In relation to its size, the capacity is rather respectable at 26.6 cubic-feet with the rear seats in place and 62.8 cubic-feet with the rear seats folded down. It also comes with a decent list of technology, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that looks like it came out of yesteryear’s BMW parts bin, and there’s even an 8-speaker Bose audio system. The latter is actually a first for a Kia, so it has that going for it.

The Seltos is available with your choice of two different engines. The base engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 146 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. The smaller, but turbocharged 1.6-liter mill delivers 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. It’s nothing to write home about, but it’s also a small model, so it should be adequate. Kia is promising an impressive starting point of “below $22,000,” so expect it to start out around $21,990 and climb closer to the $30,000 range in top trim.
