The best-selling Mercedes model has launched for 2022 with a newer design and added features that could possibly threaten the other market-leading compact sedans.
Mercedes-Benz recently launched their fifth-generation C-Class in new flesh and threw in loads of features with outstanding cabin experience, making it look like a Paradise among the entry-level luxury sedans. No doubt that both the interior and exterior designs are flattering, but what is more important is the addition of a 48-volt hybrid powertrain to support low fuel consumption.

Christmas Throwback: Mercedes C-Class Silent Night Is Still Awesome
Just as Christmas is finally ready to descend on our weary but grateful souls, automakers left and right have been on a commercial rampage, touting their models in TVCs with the hope of getting some Youtube love. Mercedes-Benz isn’t immune to such strategies and the company proved as much by releasing the “Silent Night” commercial promoting the C350 e Plug-In Hybrid’s ability to balance its gas engine and electric motor.
The commercial starts off in a snowy landscape, capturing a downtrodden man pulling a recently cut-down Christmas tree. Before any of us can feel bad for the poor dude, the scene immediately shifts to the C 350 e Plug-In Hybrid speeding along and lugging its own tree, while rock music starts blaring. Care to guess where this is going? A few quality angles go by and the hybrid sedan passes a sign that says “Elektra”. Just as quickly, the music stops and the car goes eerily quiet as the lights go up in a surprisingly desolate Christmas village. This is Mercedes’ way of showcasing the aforementioned hybrid technology on the sedan, because as soon as the C 350 e Plug-In Hybrid exits the village, it roars back to life as it speeds past a rock band playing a rock version of “Silent Night”.
It’s not the best car commercial I’ve seen this holiday season, but for the purposes of getting its message across, I’d say that Mercedes accomplished that.
Note: This article was originally posted for Christmas 2015, but we stumbled across it in our archives and wanted to share it again. Enjoy!
New Spy Photos prove the Mercedes-AMG C43 Will Be Revealed Soon
The Mercedes-AMG C43 – the entry-level AMG C-class – has been spotted yet again on public roads, but this time, it has shed almost all of its camo. This time around, only the front and rear fascia have been covered, but even with that, you can make out just about everything since all of the preliminary and concealing camo is gone. With so little camo, we can say with almost no doubt that Mercedes will be revealing it soon, maybe even before the end of 2021.
First off, let me point out that we know this is the AMG C43 based on the lower ride height and the larger yet fake air vents. That lower ride height comes courtesy of an even stiffer suspension, and there are true quad exhaust outlet sin the rear to go with the larger brakes and the lip spoiler on the rear decklid.
The real kicker here is that the C-Class lineup is ditching all large engines, with a turbocharged and hybridized four-cylinder being the only offering. In this case, the entry-level AMG will be losing the twin-turbo 3.0-liter engine and gaining a 2.0-liter. It’s the same M139 four-banger that’s found in the AMG A45 S, and in that model it’s good for 416 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque – an improvement of 31 horsepower over the outgoing model with a V-6 but a bit down on torque. This power output could change for the C43 (or perhaps C53 if a certain rumor is correct).
The good news is that we won’t have to wait for long as a debut could happen very soon with March of 2022 being the latest we’ll see it.
Manhart lets Mercedes’ C63 AMG V-8 wagon go out with a bang
With the demise of the internal combustion engine seemingly getting closer and closer, car tuners have been having a field day making fast, dead-dinosaur-burning cars even faster. Mercedes has even confirmed that the next generation of AMGs will be powered by a four-cylinder married to an electric motor to create a hybrid system. In an AMG. Anyway, German tuning company Manhart is the latest group of geniuses to take an already unnecessarily powerful car and make it even more powerful.

Mercedes-Benz recently launched their fifth-generation C-Class in new flesh and threw in loads of features with outstanding cabin experience, making it look like a Paradise among the entry-level luxury sedans. This Is What Happens When The BMW M3 Competition and The Audi RS5 Sportback Take On A 2011 Mercedes-AMG C63 Black Series
The ‘Carwow’ team brought in three hot German cars to the drag strip for a series of drag and rolling races. The contenders this time were the Audi RS5 Sportback, the BMW M3 Competition, and the Mercedes-AMG C63 Black Series. They all have different characteristics, and that is what makes the races unpredictable? Which car do you think is going to win?
Can The Toyota GR Supra Shame The Mercedes-AMG C63 S In A Drag Race?
Lately, it seems like it’s Toyota GR Supra against the world, as the car is constantly being pitted against other, more powerful vehicles. What’s impressive is that the Supra tends to come out on top, even when pitted against V-8-powered vehicles. Speaking of V-8s, YouTube channel Sam CarLegion has managed to secure a Mercedes AMG C63 S Coupe in order to go up against the GR Supra. Will it win or will it become part of the statistics?
This Infiniti Q60 3.0t Gives The Mercedes C43 AMG A Run For Its Money In Both Stock And Tuned Form
It’s another drag and roll race series, courtesy of YouTube channel Sam CarLegion. This time, it’s between two very unusual rivals – an Infiniti Q60 (not) RedSport and a Mercedes C43 AMG. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine in the Infiniti was adopted by the new Nissan Z, so this will give us a good idea of how it stacks up to some other performance coupes, performance-wise. Moreover, both cars run a stock tune (RS tune for the Infiniti) and a Stage 2 tune.
2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class All-Terrain
We already know that for 2022, the Mercedes C-Class will be offered as an All-Terrain model. Recently, a camouflaged prototype was spotted testing and, while the only thing we see is that the car will sit higher than the standard model, we have it on good authority that it will feature substantial improvements to make it more capable on harsher terrains. .
Watch 1,450 Horses Get Unleashed On A Drag Strip In This Epic Mercedes vs BMW battle
Mercedes came up with an AMG C63 Black Series almost a decade back. The team at Carwow brought it to the drag strip to take on an F80 BMW M3. Both these vehicles, however, are tuned and make 1,450 horses combined. While the BMW features a pair of hybrid turbos, the Mercedes features a supercharged under the hood. They go up against each other in a series of rolling and drag races. Which tuned car do you think will win the showdown?
A Whole Lot of Stupid: Watch An AMG C63 Drift Into Disaster While Endangering Lives
When you have a Mercedes-AMG C63 at your disposal, what do you do? Pamper it? Take it for drives and have some fun? Well, a few folks thought it would be a good idea to put it through hell and remind people that there is no dearth of stupidity out there. YouTube channel Speedster404 uploaded a video of some sort of a ‘get together’ wherein the C63 can be seen getting abused in ways that a human brain can’t comprehend.
Watch the BMW M4 Competition Take On The Audi RS5 And The Mercedes-AMG C63 S
The rivalry between the three Germans can never end. Be it any segment or niche, they are waiting to rain on each other’s parades. This time, it’s on a drag strip, courtesy of Carwow. The Audi RS5, BMW M4 Competition, and the AMG C63 S competed against one another in a series of races to determine who the king is when it comes to straight-line dashes. Who have you got your money on?
2022 Mercedes-Benz C63e
The hottest version of the W206 C Class is already a fact. Although not on sale yet, a test car has been spotted during cold-weather testing. The test car features a similar full-body camouflage as the Mercedes AMG C63 Wagon, from not long ago. We already know that the next generation of AMG models will no longer use the glorious V-8 engine layout, they were known and loved for. The now-former AMG boss Tobias Moers, also expressed his displease with the way things are developing, even going as far as to quit AMG. All this begs the question, how much of an AMG will the new C63 be?
Latest Videos:
Since last year, we’ve been getting reports that the next-generation C63 AMG will feature an inline-four. This transition marks the beginning of the end for the hand-built AMG V-8 engines that we all know and love. Needless to say, such a decision raised more than a few eyebrows. AMG’s now-former CEO, Tobias Moers, stepped down from his position a few weeks after the meeting that sealed the C63’s fate. His work with AMG is not entirely done, however, since he is now the CEO of Aston Martin. As we know the British brand has struck a deal with Mercedes to use some of its technology. This includes the AMG 4.0-liter V-8 unit, which will probably be the swan song for Affalterbach’s V-8 rumble.
The 2022 Mercedes C-Class Is Bringing S-Class Tech To The Middle Class
The C-Class is to Mercedes-Benz what the 3 Series is to BMW. That is best demonstrated by the amount of tech Stuttgart poured into the new C-Class via the S-Class flagship. Here’s everything you need to know about the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which is expected to hit U.S. showrooms in early 2022.
2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Performance Rundown: How Does It Compare to BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63
Cadillac is back in the performance game with the CT4-V Blackwing. A spiritual successor to the ATS-V, discontinued in 2019, the Blackwing marks Cadillac’s return to the high-performance compact segment. Main entries in this market include the BMW M3, Mercedes-AMG C63, and Audi RS4. The latter is not available in the U.S., so the Blackwing will face competition from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Is Cadillac’s hot sedan for it? Is it powerful and quick enough to give its German competition a run for its money? Let’s find out.
A new performance version of the next Mercedes C-Class has been spotted during hot weather testing. More specifically, it is the milder C53 AMG variant. The car has been spotted being tested under the Southern European sun. The C-Class has always been important for the Mercedes brand, even though it’s the E-Class that is the most sold sedan of the entire lineup. Nevertheless, the C-Class will, once again, need to improve upon the very capable platform it has always been. With this in mind, here’s what we can expect.
Mercedes and AMG Should Definitely Build This C63 Black Series Coupe
The awesome and outrageously expensive Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series hasn’t been out more than a few weeks, and we’re already getting the itch to see more Black Series DNA. And, that’s where this rendering from carlifestyle on Instagram comes into play. Carlifestyle has taken all the extra goodness from the AMG GT Black Series and blended it into the already amazing AMG C63 Coupe to create a car that looks suitable for whatever god or gods you believe it, and that’s no joke.
Generation Gap: Is the 2020 Mercedes-AMG C63 S Better Than the 2013 Model?
Mercedes-Benz has been offering AMG versions of the C-Class ever since its compact sedan adopted the letter C in 1993. At first it was the C36 AMG, but the modern version goes by the name AMG C63 and it’s also available in a more powerful S version.
It’s pretty obvious that the 2020 AMG C63 S is superior to the original C-Class AMG in every department, but how does it compare to the previous-generation, 2013-model-year variant? The folks over at Throttle House brought these cars together to find out.

A New Rendering Hopes to Set Clear Expectations for the 2021 Mercedes-AMG C63
On the market since 2014, the current Mercedes C-Class is far from fresh. With the various prototype sightings over the past couple of years, we know that 2021 will be the year for the fifth-gen model, but something we’ve yet to see is a prototype for the range-toping AMG C63 sedan. The C63 is billed as one of the most aggressive sports sedans on the market, and with very few rivals to compete with, Mercedes-AMG has to remain vigilant when it comes to how the car is perceived. As such, this rendering that we’re about to show you is likely a fairly accurate representation of what the C63 is actually going to look like.
Drag Race: Old BMW M3 and Mercedes C63 AMG Meet New M4 and AMG C63
Carwow’s back at drag racing cars with another special episode. This time, Mat Watson takes the current BMW M4 and Mercedes-AMG C63 and pits them against the BMW E90 M3 and Mercedes-Benz W204 C63 AMG. As a bonus, the Lexus RC F Track Edition joins this German-only affair. Here’s how it all went down.
Here’s a Mercedes-AMG C63 S Doing a Burnout on a Flatbed Truck
People are really putting in work to strengthen the case for self-driving cars. We’ve got idiots in Mustangs crashing on a regular basis, dumb asses in supercars crashing almost as frequently, and now we’re looking at another video of someone trusting the old straps of a flatbed truck to hold his Mercedes-AMG C63 S in place while he does a sitting burnout while the truck drives down the highway.
Mercedes Says Screw Displacement: We’re Putting a Hybridized M139 Four-Cylinder in the 2022 AMG C63
The new M139 four-cylinder turbocharged engine that powers the new Mercedes-AMG A45 is a prime candidate to replace the 4.0-liter bi-turbo V-8 powerhouse found under the hood of the Mercedes-AMG C63 super-sedan, with a little help from the wonder of electricity. As a result, the next-generation 2022 C63 will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo engine boosted by a 48-volt electric system - and before you start frowning, get this: the new powertrain will be just as potent as the V-8 and then some.
Watch an Idiot in a Mercedes-AMG C63 Go Full On Ford Mustang Into a Tree
First I cried. Then I laughed. Then I cried again. This video reminded me of something Dr. Sheldon Cooper once said: “One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and it makes me sad”. This dude should be arrested not for being negligent, but for being stupid. He literally crashed a Mercedes C63S AMG into a tree while trying to impress the crowd and ended up looking like a fool. Worth it? Hells naw!
Mercedes Sets Its Sights on the Audi A4 Allroad and the Volvo V60 Cross Country With the 2021 C-Class
The next-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class will finally spawn a competitor for the Audi A4 Allroad and the Volvo V60 Cross Country. Likely to carry the All-Terrain name, it will be Mercedes’ second vehicle of this type after the existing E-Class All-Terrain, which is aimed at the Audi A6 Allroad and Volvo V90 Cross Country.

A New Batch of C-Class AMGs Are Coming in 2021 - Here’s What We Know
Big changes are expected to come for the Mercedes’ C-Class family now that the updated model is nearing its expected launch timetable of 2021. But just as the facelifted C-Class will arrive with plenty of changes and modifications, so too will the model’s lineup of sinister AMG alter egos. Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers recently sat down with Motor Trend to discuss a ride range of topics, specifically the company’s plans for the new wave of Mercedes C-Class AMG models that will arrive with the facelifted C-Class and the broad strokes future of Mercedes-AMG as a company. With Mercedes already having its hands full with the development of its new all-electric EQS sub-brand, questions surrounding Mercedes-AMG’s future plans are being asked, which, in this case, focuses on the Mercedes C-Class AMG models.
Mercedes-AMG C43 Convertible - Driven
As an entry-level luxury performance cabriolet within the AMG lineup, the Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet continues a famous line of Mercedes-branded convertibles that shaped this part of the automotive landscape. With the latest redesign, the Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet brings more power, a more aggressive exterior, and refined tech onboard. Our test drive revealed if it still has the grace and unique character that every Mercedes cabriolet carries with pride.
2019 BMW 3 Series vs 2019 Mercedes C-Class
The rivalry between the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes C-Class is the automotive equivalent of the rivalry between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. The stakes are different, sure, but there are no two models that are linked to one another than the 3 Series and the C-Class. It’s fitting, too, that just as Mercedes unveiled the 2019 C-Class a few months ago, it didn’t take BMW long to roll out the next-generation 3 Series. With both models offering something new to the table, it’s only fitting that we compare both models to see which one has the edge over the other.
Mercedes Now Has a Baby Stroller and, Believe it or Not, It has Mini C-Class Wheels
As if building some of the world’s most refined cars isn’t enough, Mercedes is jumping into the baby mobility business with the launch of the Avantgarde baby stroller. Developed in collaboration with German stroller company Hartan, the Avantgarde is the kind of stroller you’d want your baby to ride in you want to introduce him or her to a life of luxury before they even have a chance to walk on their own two feet. Neither Mercedes nor Hartan have indicated the price for the stroller, but a Russian site called Kinderpram is taking orders for a tidy sum of 82,400 руб. That’s around $1,300 based on current exchange rates.
How usable is the back seat of small luxury coupes?
All sub-$50,000 luxury grand touring coupes these days have a seating capacity of four, which means they can theoretically carry two additional people in the rear. The manufacturers usually show a smiling young couple blasting through the countryside in the press photos, and rarely, if ever, four people having a blast. In fact, you wouldn’t even know there were people in the back of most of the cars on the list below.
There are five names on it: the names of the five most important models in the segment and the purpose is to compare their ability to cosset rear occupants... or not, as the case may be. Spoiler alert, none of them are particularly apt at doing it, even though they do have actual full-sized back seats, but if you were to pick yours based on this alone, this is how they stack up - I’ve arranged them in order from least to most spacious.
2018 Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet - Driven
A spin in the Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet is definitely enough to show you just how capable AMG is of making a satisfying car. Don’t think for a second that this is a brute you wouldn’t be able to tame. It is not. Actually, the impressions I gathered driving the AMG C43 Cabriolet are dramatically different than I ever imagined them to be. See, AMG always stands for brutality and uncompromised driving performance in my head. The C43, while definitely packing some of those virtues, isn’t like that. Set it in Comfort, lower the roof, let Barry White cuddle your eardrums, and you have yourself a cruiser worthy of the Cote d’Azur. That is actually where I drove it as part of the #blackchili Continental driving experience. Yup, we tested their new tires and basically enjoyed three days in luxury, but I snitched a short test drive of this beauty as well. I had to.
I Drove 1,780 Horsepower Worth Of Cars In France On Possibly The Best Tires On Earth
Continental AG invited me to spend three days in Nice, France, drive really nice cars, experience its #blackchili driving experience and gorge on vine and fish of all kinds prepared by some of the best chefs around.
I said yes.
This is what I saw, drove and experienced there.
1,780 horsepower worth of cars were parked down the alley of a hotel with a golf course. All of them were white, all of them had OEM Continental tires on them. UUHP tires, mind you. That is short for Ultra Ultra High Performance and all of them had striking, yet subtle Continental decals. Right from the get-go, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a classic journalist driving event. It was more of a celebration and a party. I liked it.
The weather was at nice 78 degrees Fahrenheit, without a single cloud on the perfectly blue sky over the Cote d’Azur. Down at that parking - 10 cars - two Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabrios, two BMW M240i xDrive Convertibles, two Porsche 718 Boxsters, two Tesla Model Ss, and two Audi RS3 Sportbacks.
FYI, the Porsche was the least powerful one there. And when the Porsche is the least powerful at a car event, things are off to a good start.
This Mercedes C-Class with an EQC Face is a Bit Awkward
Mercedes’ new EQ brand just debuted with the EQC, an all-electric alternative to the compact GLC crossover. Sporting its own design language, especially up front, the EQC will soon be joined by other EV siblings, including a full-size sedan. Whether the EQC’s high-tech face will make it onto other vehicles remains unknown, but automotive digital designer Kleber Silva decided to see how the SUV’s front fascia looks on the popular C-Class sedan. The result is somewhat awkward.
2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 S by G-Power
Mercedes-AMG made a revolution with the introduction of the 4.0-liter, turbocharged, V-8. This engine, with its many states of tune, made it in so many cars within the Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG lineup that I almost lost count. The most dramatic discrepancy for its use, at least for me, is with the Mercedes-Benz G500 4x4 and the Mercedes-AMG GT R. These two are opposites but they both feature the same engine.
However, Mercedes-AMG did a favor to the world with this V-8. It ended up in the Mercedes C-Class as well. Its most potent form at that. The tuners flew over the AMG C63 S as vultures seizing the opportunity to create a supercar out of a four-door drift happy saloon. This is the latest in the line of awesome works on the Mercedes-AMG C63 S. It comes from G-Power, a company who made a fortune tuning BMWs. Now, it’s AMGs turn.
Comparison: 2019 Volvo S60 vs. 2019 Mercedes C-Class
Launched in conjunction with the grand opening of Volvo’s new manufacturing plant in South Carolina, the third-generation S60 compact executive four-door brings a host of fresh features to make it competitive in the segment. However, Mercedes-Benz commands a strong position here as well thanks to it’s best-selling C-Class, which recently received an update for the 2019 model year at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show. So then - which is the better buy? To find out, we put them side by side and dived into the specs.

What Do we Know About the New Mercedes-AMG C53?
We have been hearing stories and unfounded reports about AMG working on hybridization for a decade now. It wasn’t until the unveiling of that mad Mercedes-AMG Project One with a hybrid system, that we figured out just how serious the Affalterbach speed gurus were. As AMG CEO, Tobias Moers once said, “We cannot change the future. And the future does bear the name of electricity." Now, I am telling you all this because only days ago, Mercedes-AMG registered a new trademark at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). It is an AMG - the C 53. And it will, by all indicators, be a hybrid.
Mercedes C-Class Gets New Nightfall Editions
The C-Class is Merc’s best-selling vehicle, offering luxurious compact motoring since 1993. The latest W205 generation was launched in 2014 at the Detroit Motor Show, and now, Merc is sprucing it up at the end of its production cycle with a unique variant dubbed the Nightfall Edition, bringing a new dark-colored exterior treatment and standard AMG interior components, plus a standard sport suspension set-up.

Mercedes C-Class L Stretches in Front of Beijing Crowd
Mercedes’ booth at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show may be dominated by the imposing presence of the Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury SUV, but another model, presumably sitting on the sidelines, is also making some noise. You’ve probably noticed it as a Mercedes C-Class, which it is. But it also has one unique characteristic that no other C-Class has: it’s really long. That’s because the model you’re looking at is the C-Class L, an updated version of the stretched-wheelbase C-Class sedan that the German automaker is already selling in record numbers in China.
2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class was first introduced in the early ‘90s as a replacement for the outgoing 190 range of vehicles, offering customers an entry-level compact packed with high-end three-pointed star luxury. In the time since, the C-Class has grown to become Merc’s best-selling nameplate, with a plethora of model variants on the table to entice a swath of different customers. However, those looking for maximum headspace are encouraged to check out the drop-top cabriolet model, which just saw a refresh for the current fourth-generation W205 at the 2018 New York International Auto Show. Dropping alongside the new hard-top coupe, the latest C-Class Cab gets many of the same upgrades as the four-door and wagon that debuted before it, including a tweaked exterior style, new digital options for the interior, and extra ponies under the hood.

The New Mercedes C300 de Plug-in Hybrid to Deliver as Much Torque as an AMG C63
Ever since it arrived at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the new Mercedes C-Class has been a regular topic of discussion in the auto industry. It’s tagged as a “facelift,” but it actually falls under the category of an all-new model given the number of changes it’s had compared to its predecessor. One of those changes is the addition of a diesel hybrid model, which will most likely be referred to as the “C 300 de.” It’s an unconventional move to fit a diesel with an electric motor, but it’s all part of the Mercedes experience. One of the features of this diesel hybrid powertrain is its torque output, something Mercedes says reaches 516 pound-feet of torque, exactly the same amount of torque that the AMG C 63 has.
The C-Class Won’t Get Mercedes’ New MBUX Infotainment System from the A-Class Until the Next-Gen Model is Born
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is classified as a facelifted model, but it might as well be an all-new one. It has a new front grille, updated powertrains, and a new electrical architecture. It even has 25,000 new components, which is a lot for an all-new model, let alone one that’s in the middle of its life cycle. What it doesn’t have, though, is the automaker’s new Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system.
2019 Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe
If you’re looking for classy entry-level luxury with a three-pointed star on the nose, look no further than the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Initially making the scene in 2007, the C-Class got its first AMG model variant in 2008. These days, the C-Class is the brand’s top-selling nameplate, with the AMG versions bolstering sales numbers as a more accessible gateway to the high-performance Mercedes lifestyle. Like a sports car draped in a luxury suit, the AMG C 63 brings the heat without breaking a sweat, and now, there’s an updated version headed to dealers offering tweaked exterior style, the latest cabin tech, and a little extra under the hood.

According to AMG boss Tobias Moers, the departure of the V-8 AMG C 63 will open the door for the performance sedan to go the hybrid route. Barring the unexpected, that’s exactly what the next-generation AMG C 63 is going to be.
If You’re Holding Out For an Electric Mercedes C-Class, You’ll have to Wait for the EQ Sedan Instead
The Mercedes C-Class is not getting an all-electric version anytime soon. Mercedes still plans to release a similar-sized, zero-emission model, but it will be badged as an EQ model. The C-Class will still be offered as a hybrid and plug-in hybrid in the future but, as far as an all-electric C-Class is concerned, don’t count on it happening anytime soon.
Mercedes-AMG Introduces New C 63 Lineup, And It’s Bringing The Heat To The BMW M3
With the 2018 New York Auto Show just hours from getting underway, Mercedes-AMG is jumping the gun a bit and introducing its new C 63 lineup, giving us the full rundown on the refreshed four-door, coupe, convertible, and wagon body styles. Mercedes to Join Volvo, Cadillac, and Porsche in the Car Subscription Business with the "Mercedes me Flexperience" Subscription Program
Mercedes-Benz is joining a host of other automakers in offering a new kind of ownership experience that will allow customers to drive the car of their dreams without actually owning them. Just like Volvo, Cadillac, and Porsche, the German automaker is in the final stages of developing a pilot program for a flat-rate vehicle subscription service, called “Mercedes me Flexperience.” The goal of this is service is to offer an alternative way to “owning” a Mercedes without actually having to buy it outright. The program is already available in a few countries, but it could also find its way into the U.S. as early as this year.

An AMG-tuned turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 powerplant resides under the hood, with output rated at 385 horsepower. That’s 23 horses more than before, by the way. Torque goes unchanged at 384 pound-feet between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm. Properly applied, the run to 60 mph takes around 4.5 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited at 130 mph.
A nine-speed automatic transmission and AMG Performance 4Matic AWD system with rear torque-bias rounds out the drivetrain. Adaptive dampers arrive as standard spec, as does AMG speed-sensitive steering.
The fresh C now heads to the 2018 New York International Auto Show to strut its stuff in the metal. Sales will kick off later this year.

Since then, the C-Class has grown to become the most popular model in the Merc stable, no doubt thanks in part to sales of the pumped-up performance-oriented versions from AMG, which include the 43 series that launched in 2015. Now, there’s a refresh on the table for the go-faster C-Class, and it’s bringing extra power and new tech to the fight.

The Mercedes-AMG C43 to Show Off a Fresh Look and More Power in Geneva
Introduced in 2015 to bridge the gap between the C300 and the full-blown AMG C63, the AMG C43 brings together the usual AMG goodies inside and out and a smaller V-6 engine (instead of a V-8) for improved fuel economy. Although it’s not as powerful or as fast as the C63, the C43 has become a popular option among enthusiasts that want an AMG with daily driving skills. With the 2018 Geneva Motor Show just around the corner, Mercedes-Benz is introducing a facelift to both the sedan and wagon versions of the slightly beefed-up C-Class.
Comparison: 2017 Mercedes C-Class vs 2018 Mercedes C-Class
When it was unveiled back in 2014, the W205-generation C-Class redefined the premium compact market with its sporty exterior design and exquisite interior layout. Based on the larger S-Class, which was still new back then, the C-Class made the BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4 look old and dated. The fact that the two were three and seven years old in 2014 also helped the C-Class become the king of the luxury compact market instantly. But things have changed since them. Audi launched a new A4 in 2015, while BMW updated the 3 Series for the 2016 model year and it’s getting ready to launch a new-generation model in 2018. The C-Class is no longer that far ahead, so Mercedes gave its four-door a makeover.
On top of the usual exterior design changes, the C-Class was updated with new features and technology inside the cabin. Highlights include a new digital display for all models and a standard seven-inch screen for the lower-spec versions. Mercedes also added touch-sensitive buttons on the steering wheels, and new driver assist features that make the car semi-autonomous, just like in the bigger E-Class and S-Class models. Of course, exterior changes are an important part of a facelift, so let’s see what makes the upgraded model stand out in the comparison below.

2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
If Mercedes-Benz ever decided to make a greatest hits album, the C-Class would undoubtedly be one of the top tracks. Originally offered in the early ’90s as a replacement for the Mercedes-Benz 190 series, the C-Class is framed as the German brand’s entry-level luxury four-door compact. A second generation arrived in 2000, followed by a third-gen in 2007 and a fourth-gen in 2014. Now, as the fourth-gen C-Class enters its fifth year of production, it takes a spot in Merc’s lineup as the brand’s best-selling model, moving a total of 415,000 units in markets worldwide last year. That’s a huge volume for a single model. As such, Mercedes is looking to keep it feeling as fresh as possible, and will give it a slew of new updates to keep buyers coming back for more. The latest includes tweaked exterior styling, an updated interior, new infotainment gear, new safety and assistance tech, and even an extra splash of power as well. All good stuff, if you ask us.
The latest 2019 model year for the C-Class will appear in the metal for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show, where Merc will also pull the sheets on the new A-Class, the new G-Class, and the new AMG GT Coupe. While a full generational changeover is expected in a few years’ time, this new model definitely keeps that old C-Class magic we’ve come to expect, while also adding all the extra goodies needed to keep it in the running with the competition. Read on for the details, and make sure to check back here for the full rundown when the C-Class drops in Geneva.

2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Unveiled
As if it weren’t already obvious from the vast quantity of examples seen on the road, the current generation of the C-Class compact four-door is officially the German brand’s best-selling model, moving as many as 417,000 units worldwide last year. Now, there’s a new model on the horizon, and it’s promising refreshed goods inside and out.
Let’s start with the stuff outside, where the high-powered AMG-spec’d models make their presence known thanks to a diamond grille fitted in front as standard, plus a new front apron and a rear diffuser for the 2019 model year. The rest of the line includes a bevy of silver and chrome trim, as well as halogen headlights with LED daytime running lights. Options include full-LED headlights, which also include goodies like “High Performance” elements with an “Ultra Range” high beam. The exterior paint options now throw in shades like Mojave silver metallic and emerald green metallic, while standard 17-inch wheels are found in the corners.
Step inside, and you’ll find an interior layout that looks more or less identical to the outgoing model, but Merc swears it’s updated for 2019, and includes a redesign for the center console. Optional interior materials include open-pore brown walnut trim and open-pore anthracite oak, while new interior color schemes include magma grey and black, plus saddle brown for the AMG line. There’s also a new multi-contour seat package which allows for individually adjustable side bolsters and lumbar support, as well as a massaging effect.
In terms of tech, the new C-Class is offered with a fully digital instrument display taken from the S-Class, and complete with three individual viewing modes. Standard spec throws a 5.5-inch display in between the gauges, but with the full digital option, you get a 12.3-inch screen instead. The center screen on the dash measures in at 7.0 inches as standard, but there’s also a high-resolution 10.25-inch screen if you’re willing to pay a bit more. Further features include touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel, a Qi wireless phone charging system, and the optional Comand Online navigation system.
Mercedes says the C-Class can “drive semi-autonomously in certain situations,” and includes optional features like Active Distance Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, Active Steering Assist, and Active Emergency Stop Assist. Active Brake Assist is standard.
Motivation is once again derived from a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which gets up-rated in the latest 2019 model year to produce as much as 255 horsepower. A 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission routes the power aft as standard, with AWD offered as an available option.
Pricing will be announced in March when the C-Class makes its formal debut at the Geneva International Motor Show. Look for the first batch to arrive hot off the presses in August.
