Freak Fire Destroys More than 3500 Cars at the Southwest Florida International Airport
A freakishly crazy fire happened last Friday in the overflow lot of the Southwest Florida International Airport, filling the surrounding area with smoke, a bright yellow glow, and damaging some 3,500 rental cars that were parked across a 15-acre area. There is still no official cause of the fire as it is still under investigation, but reports have been flying in that says cars are often parked after being driven for an extended period of time, which could create a very simple but easy to forget fire hazard: hot exhaust sitting just inches above very dry grass. Until an official reason is given, it’s safe to assume this could be the case of what happened.
Famous Bridges of California for Driving
Taking a road trip in California isn’t just about enjoying the breathtaking scenery that the Golden State provides. You’ll have your fill of lush forests, beautiful coastlines, and countless tourist destinations that you can stop over and enjoy. But if you’re into unique viewing experiences on your road trips, keep an eye on the abundance of bridges that are found in California. Bridges are awesome. They can be as breathtaking as the Golden Gate Bridge, marvellous as the Sundial Bridge, or they can even tell unique historical stories like the Bridge to Nowhere. California has no shortage of incredible bridges, and the ones we identified aren’t just awesome because you can drive on them, but also because of the stories they tell of eras in the state that have long been forgotten by the passing of time.
Famous Roads for Great Drives in California
California may be home to Los Angeles’ nightmarish traffic-generating roads, but driving in the Golden State shouldn’t be defined by the traffic situations on I-5, US 101, or I-10. The state is also home to some of the most beautiful roads, not just in the U.S but in the entire world. Scenic highways dot the California coast, and stretched roads take you to high peaks and luscious meadows. You can even drive to Death Valley on your way to Las Vegas from California. If you somehow find yourself in California these days, take your car out for a spin on any of these roads. Not only are the views as good as advertised, but there are quiet and desolate stretches of roads that are going to allow you to literally let loose and enjoy the ride. There is, after all, nothing quite like joyriding in the great state of California.
PSA Group Is Returning to the US around the year 2026
PSA Group (owner of Peugeot, Citroen, DS and most recently Opel) is one of France’s largest automakers that manufactures models for a wide range of buyers with varying budgets. According to a new report, the group will start selling its cars in the United States again, but we don’t yet know if all their sub-brands are going to make it over or if they are going to adopt a similar approach to Alfa Romeo and bring over some more expensive, exclusive models first.
Will California Host of the First American Autobahn?
If we are to believe some recent developments coming from Germany, the days of the no-limit sections of the famed Autobahn highway system might be numbered. However, there is an initiative for a new way to reduce emissions in California: by adding extra lanes with no speed limit imposed on two major strips of highway. We’re intrigued!
You’ll have a field day on the internet if you start searching for video of people going amok on Germany’s Autobahn. That’s because Germany’s Autobahns, while no more the Nirvana of fast driving they once were, still offer many strips of highway devoid of speed limits where each and every one of us can go and test the limits of our rides. Those with faster cars are usually inclined to film their top speed attempts on the public roads, and that’s how you get thousands of videos of fast Porsches, Ferraris, BMWs and anything in between blitzing towards the German horizon at ludicrous velocity - while still staying away from the effects of the law.
In the near future, we might see similar videos emerge from motorists in California if Senate Bill 319 passes. Why? Well, here’s what the bill’s text says: It "requires the department to initiate a project to construct two additional traffic lanes on northbound and southbound Interstate Route 5 and State Route 99, and would prohibit the imposition of a maximum speed limit for those traffic lanes." Let’s dig in further.
2019 Chevrolet Bolt
The Chevy Bolt tends to have a bad rap because of the bow-tie emblem; it’s quirky DNA mashup between MPV and hatchback, and the fact that it’s not a Tesla. But, we managed to spend some one-on-one time with the Chevy Bolt and, well, let’s just say that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Despite the general consensus surrounding GM’s compact EV, and all the hype generated by Tesla, the Bolt has found a place in our hearts. Here’s our story of a simple yet enjoyable getaway with none other than the 2019 Chevy Bolt.
There’s a Pretty Gnarly Pot hole in Los Angeles
Potholes are nasty. Potholes are mean. They get sadistic pleasure by making your beloved car go through them and inflicting damage in some cases. Potholes are generally created when the underlying soil is weakened by water and the tarmac getting steamrolled by oncoming vehicles, before ultimately giving up and becoming a hell hole that causes trouble to everyone. Here is one instance of a pothole in Los Angeles that was literally invisible and victimized more than a few cars.
Your EV is Cutting into the Tax Dollars California Politicians can Pocket, So Get Ready to Pay a Mileage-Based Fee for EVs
Given how governments of many countries are pushing customers to opt for EVs by giving subsidies, it looked like the running cost of EVs would be very low. But that doesn’t seem to be the case with the California state government. Since the lawmakers are not earning the gasoline taxes from EV owners anymore, they have come up with a ‘solution’ that may require you to pay a mileage-based fee. How does that sound?
Arizonians Are Not Happy With Waymo’s Autonomous Vehicles
In the light of recent events, one thing is clear – not all people are ready to adopt new technologies. We have been hearing the ICEing cases where ‘Bro trucks’ block the supercharging stations and not allow EV owners to charge their vehicles. Now, people in Arizona are showing their anger towards Waymo’s autonomous cars in Arizona by attacking them.
Waymo Self-Driving Vans Are Literally Diving People Crazy in Arizona
There are two sides to autonomous technology and self-driving cars – you’re either with them or against them. Sure, there are a few people other there that are still on the fence over the whole thing but, for the most part, people love ‘em or hate ‘em. Some people, as in the entire state of Arizona, apparently, seem to hate them. They hate them so much that they have, essentially, started a war with Waymo self-driving vans and their safety drivers. And we’re not talking about just flipping them the bird or cutting them off in traffic. No; this is much worse and beyond extreme. How do guns, playing chicken, and constant harassment sound?
Thanks to The California Wildfires, Air is 60 Times Dirtier than World Health Standards!
California is facing a wrath of wildfires that are burning down everything in sight. Apart from life and man-made things, the wildfires are affecting the environment as well. Air quality in the surrounding areas is dreadful, to say the least, and according to a Bloomberg report, the particulate levels are 60 times more than the standard limit.
Watch This Harrowing Escape From Northern California Forest Fire
The wildfires engulfing the state of California have shown no signs of slowing down as high winds continue to spread the fire. As of today, more than 30 people have died from the wildfires sweeping the state, while more than 200 people remain unaccounted for. Two separate wildfires on opposite ends of the state are still ongoing, one in Northern California and one in Southern California. The fire in the north, called the Camp Fire, has effectively burned down the entire town of Paradise, consuming 109,000 acres and destroying more than 6,700 homes and businesses in the area. Meanwhile, the fire in the south, called the Woolsey Fire, has consumed 83,000 acres of land and destroyed at least 177 buildings. A third fire near the Woolsey Fire, called the Hill Fire, has done its own damage, scorching 4,530 acres of land.
Prostitution in Los Angeles is So Bad, the City Had to Ban Right Turns at Night
Prostitution is illegal in the state of California, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a common practice across the state. This may be more evident in Los Angeles than anywhere else, where police enforced a ban on right turns during the night hours to try to stop the surge of human trafficking.
Buying and selling sexual favors is a business as old as the world itself. That doesn’t make it, however, an illegal affair. On the contrary. L.A. has been plagued with the problem of widespread prostitution for decades, and the status quo has remained the same up to the present day. Policing the matter is difficult due to the amount of people involved - at both ends - which is why lawmakers and police looked elsewhere for a potential patchy solution.
As such, a stretch of the North Western Avenue was lined up with some strange traffic signs that read "No Right Turns 12 Midnight To 7 AM". The idea is that potential customers of awaiting streetwalkers would be deterred to turn right onto residential streets to do the deeds.
