Mazda has just unveiled the 2022 MX-5 Miata in Japan, and while the upgrades for this year are quite comprehensive, none of them concern the sports car’s aesthetics.

Japanese sports cars from the 1990s are some of the most recognized ones amongst the car culture. As described by Jeremy Clarkson, in a movie about the Nissan Skyline GT-R, Japan took over the world…and then lost it. While the latter is a topic for another time, what is true for the Skyline also goes for these three – the Toyota Supra, Nissan 300Z, and Mazda RX-7. In recent years Mazda has been making a strong case for itself. With good styling, solid interiors, and fun driving dynamics, the brand from Hiroshima tries to give potential buyers plenty of reason to choose them. The CX-9, Mazda’s largest SUV, has just received new pricing, packages, and a new trim level for the 2022 model year.

Just a week after announcing pricing and full specs for the facelifted 2022 Mazda CX-5, the company has now announced updates for its flagship three-row SUV.

The current Mazda2 is already on its eight year on the market, and ever since its launch it was only offered with a choice of 1.5-liter gasoline or 1.5-liter diesel engines. In 2020 a mild hybrid version was also added to the lineup.

And now it looks like the third-generation Mazda2 is continuing to live on for yet another year, but with some major improvements under the hood. As a first in Mazda’s lineup, the 2022 Mazda2 will be offered with a self-charging, full hybrid powertrain.

The fourth generation Mazda3 was launched back in 2019 and since then it received no major updates. Things continue unchanged for the 2022 model year, but Mazda is offering a new Carbon Edition model.

Prices for the 2022 Mazda3 will range from $20,800 for the 2.0 version with FWD to $34,400 for the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus AWD. The new Carbon Edition will be priced at $26,400 for the sedan version and at $27,400 for the hatchback.

Just a few months after its global reveal, Mazda USA has officially released every single detail we need to know about the 2022 CX-5, including pricing, powertrain choices, and features across its entire lineup.

The Mazda MX-5, also known as the Miata, is a car that doesn’t need much introduction. The Japanese take on the British, lightweight roadster, is in its fourth generation, with the current, ND generation being the most lightweight and quickest of all iterations. With that being said, rumors of the ND Miata being discontinued in 2022 have been circulating. However, those are false, since we will be getting another updated version of the current generation.

Mazda has introduced a new SUV to its lineup called the CX-50. Rumored to replace the CX-5 in the automaker’s lineup, the CX-50 will actually coexist with the former and try to bring in big numbers for Mazda together. The CX-50 is brought in to boost Mazda’s sales in the U.S. as the company aims to move 150,000 examples of it every year. Not a whole lot of details are revealed, but from what we know so far, it will be the jack of all trades.

The Mazda MX-5 Miata is hands down one of the best-handling sports cars out there and for good reason. It was originally created nearly thirty years ago in a bid to capture the essence of lightweight, British open-top roadsters from the 60s. It was always a car that offered agility and stellar performance in a compact and lightweight package, all at an affordable price.

High-speed side crashes continue to cause fatalities, which is why the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is updating its testing methods in a bid to make cars safer. The results for the small SUV segment, however, are disappointing - unless you’re Mazda that is.

The SEMA show in Las Vegas is a haven for the automotive aftermarket community and industry. Unfortunately, it was canceled in 2020 for obvious reasons, but it is back for 2021, and Toyo Tires will have some wild cars features in their Treadpass exhibit.

Back in May 2021, Mazda announced that after the 2021 model year, the CX-3 and Mazda 6 will be discontinued. But, while the American market will only enjoy the CX-30 for now, in Japan the CX-3 is still big and is enjoying a lot of success. In fact, for the 2022 model year, the Japanese version of the CX-3 will see the addition of a new model to the lineup: the CX-3 Super Edgy.

Prices will range from ¥2,491,500 (about $21,800 at the current exchange rates) for the 15S Super Edgy version to ¥3,212,000 ($28,000) for the XD Super Edgy.

A while back, we talked about how Mazda is in the process of reinventing itself. The Japanese carmaker shared, on its official newsroom that three new SUV models are coming out by 2023 and that the expansion of its lineup will be accompanied by upgraded dealer facilities. Mazda’s transition to a more upscale image has never been more apparent and we are going to see the first models with longitudinally-mounted inline-six engines debut as early as 2022.

Mazda North American has announced that the 2022 CX-5, it’s best-selling SUV – is finally getting some much-needed updates. The most important change is the addition of AWD as standard equipment across the lineup. However, it should also be noted that there are a few exterior design tweaks as well. But can it stand firm against the slightly lower-priced Volkswagen Tiguan and Hyundai Tucson?
