For many this hard top is one of the most eagerly awaited Fairlines to date. Specify the D6-400 Volvo engines and you will also have the fastest Fairline built to date. Even fully loaded it can easily push into the mid-40 knot range.

Demand for a hard top version was too great for us not to take it seriously. But we had to get it right. We worked with Makefast to acquire a tried and tested roof and electrical system. Reliable, easy to use and neat. The Targa 38OPEN offers the largest roof opening area for a boat of this size and a long overhang over the cockpit to offer maximum protection.

We also extended the glazing to give greater all-round vision and further enhance the feeling of an express cruiser that’s open to the world around it. This big boat thinking also extends aft, where you can specify a submersible bathing platform for ultimate enjoyment of the water.

British luxury boat builder Fairline has announced plans to launch an the Targa 53 Open, an open version of the Targa 53GT that will only make its debut at the Southampton Boat Show. If it sounds like Fairline’s jumping the gun with the announcement of an off-shoot model from another model that hasn’t been introduced yet, it’s because it is a case of that. Still, there’s been a lot of excitement surrounding the arrival of the Targa 53GT so it appears that Fairline’s merely trying to leverage the hype by announcing an open version of the boat.

According to the company, the 53 Open will use the same hull and power trains as the enclosed saloon version. It will receive a large, peeled-back sunroof that allows passengers to bask in the heat of the sun. The deck layout of the boat will be divided in such a way that it creates enough space for a dining section, forward-facing seats in the front, a slab of sundae aft just atop the tender garage.

Prospective customers of the boat will also be given a chance to choose between two or three cabins. It’s Fairline’s way of inviting would-be clients to personalise the cabins as they see fit.

The 53 Open will be powered by two different shaft-driven engine options: Volvo and Cummins. Specific details of these engines will be unveiled during the 53GT’s debut at the Southampton Boat Show but as early as now, Fairline is estimating that the 53 Open will be able to reach a fully loaded top speed of 30 knots on account of its lighter weight than its enclosed counterpart.

Likewise, pricing details of the two boats are being kept under wraps for the time being. What’s expected is that the 53 Open will be made available beginning in the spring of 2016.

Since its founding in the 1960s, Fairline has built over 13,000 boats. For the Squadron 42, the Fairlane design team provided the layout and details, while the engineering and naval architecture came from the design firm Bernarad Olesinski — Naval Architects, known for their outstanding design work in the rarified world of megayachts. Overall, Fairlane’s Squadron 42 is just that: 42 feet of megayacht. The smallest of the Squadron series, the Squadron 42 can accommodate up to six persons in an environment that reminds you of nothing so much as a very plush, airy loft that can zip along at up to 30 knots.

The Fairline Targa 62 GT has all it needs to reward its passengers with a relaxing cruise in the middle of deep waters.

It comes with a large, open cockpit that features a J-shaped seating and dining area sitting ahead of a luxuriously large sunpad. You also get a large bathing platform, an electric retractable glazed roof with one-touch operation and pneumatic seal, a full-height fridge, a cockpit bar with BBQ, a full-beam master cabin with en suite and separate shower and port and starboard mid-ship guest cabins.

The Fairline Targa 62 GT is offered with a choice of three engines which deliver maximum speeds between 29 - 38 Knots.
