Oyster

The new flagship of the Oyster range – the Oyster 118 – commenced her build in the UK in 2015 and will be sailing in the Solent at the end of 2017. Her owners and their family will set off for their exciting global adventure in Spring 2018.

Creating the opportunity for an exclusive series build of up to five yachts, Oyster invested in female mould tooling in which the 700m3 voluminous hull can be built. The internal structure is designed to allow a pleasingly broad range of interior layouts, allowing each yacht to feel uniquely personal.

Hull numbers two and three can be built for 2019 delivery, with subsequent yachts in 2020 and 2021.

With nearly 43ft (13m) fore and aft from the helm stations to the steps down forward to the lower saloon and crew spaces, the three-part combination of an ‘al-fresco’ dining area, the upper-level sofas and mid-level dining areas provide versatile relaxing and entertaining space.

The overall size and lines permit new thinking, and within the plumb bowed, long waterlined, beamy twin rudder configuration, topped with a stylish coachroof and sweetly swept solid bimini, many clever innovations there are concealed within; a hidden single point mainsheet transferring loads deep into the lower structure and legislative escape routes cleverly built into the engine room ventilation shafts are two examples of this.

Designed to replace the successful Oyster 825 and 885 – 17 of which have been sold, the new Oyster 835 and 895 include features from the development of both the larger Oyster 118 (2 sold) and the smaller models – the Oyster 565, 595, 675, and 745 – 16 of which have been sold.

Starting with the design of the Oyster 745 in late 2014, Oyster has been quietly refining its entire range. More sophisticated design and technology has been used to incorporate infused internal structures and carbon-fibre in key areas of framing and bulkheads; across the range the composite hulls and decks now have a more selective distribution of weight and strength.

This higher level of engineering for the Oyster 745 was then continued in turn with the structure of the Oyster 118, the 675, the 565 & 595 and now the new Oyster 835 and 895. Designed using Det Norske Veritas/GL rules, Oyster has also been working with Lloyds Register of Shipping to both gather their technical input and to help them develop more appropriate classification tools for this type of composite yacht.

As part of Oyster continued efforts to remain the UK’s No.1 yacht builder of choice for ocean cruising yachts, Oyster has extended their warranty terms across the Oyster range and are pleased to confirm that Oyster now offer a five year structural warranty, supported by a two year general warranty.

Two meters longer than the Oyster 675, three shorter than the 825, the sleek-topped 22.7m Oyster 745, announced in 2013 and now fully in build, brings interesting new thinking and great new opportunity, drawing as she does on the particular experience of the 12 very varied 825s and 885s.

Through these 12 80-plus-footers there are very different expressions of layout and balance between owner, guest and crew requirements, adding into the mix up to three levels of saloon roof and floor, with apportionment of space, essentially based on six cabins, six heads for the 885, five cabins, five heads, for the 825 – a huge versatility within the strengthening Oyster approach of ‘say yes’ to owners requests.

Next in line, within the previous single rudder generation, was the 72/725 with five cabins, four heads. Beautiful lines and handling but with two guest cabins aft sharing heads and shower, and the forward guest cabin accessed via the crew and galley area, not everyone’s optimal solution. The key difference between the 725 and the 72 was the incorporation of the vertical, three-stripe Seascape windows into the same hull and floorplan initially at the request of one owner which was then picked up by others. The rebadging as the 725 was driven by the owners who wanted to enjoy the difference between their 725s and the successful 72s – from this partnership, three Oyster 725s have been built.

For the new Oyster 745, with a clean design slate, these issues have been swept aside, making way for a very spacious four cabin, four head layout by electing to have not three full cabins aft, just two with a very versatile side-space bridging the sleeping and living areas aft and the amidships, and also resolving private forward access by adopting the bigger 825’s successful walkway either side of the mast. With this, guests have one side forward, crew the other, and the galley/crew door can close the whole of that area.

Left open plan, it creates a great space for sitting and relaxing while pouring, even more, light and space into that aft guest deck, a convivial or quiet lower deck saloon with library or any level of AV equipment including 40in (100cm) deckhead fold- down television. Alternatively, it can be laundry and store or a bunked space for extra occasional berthing.

The evolution through design generations to the current wide beam aft and high freeboard has contributed to a leap in interior volume for this new, more open accommodation plan. Below the sheerline volume is a full 210m3, astonishingly just 20 less than the Oyster 82 which despite its three meters extra length measured 230m3.

The triple award-winning Oyster 625 is designed to bring some significant improvements to the already successful pedigree of the Oyster 61 and 62. A new hull design by Humphreys Yacht Design with increased performance and handling, options for a sportier rig, several interior layout options and increased space in the master cabin by utilising the fuller aft sections are just some of the enhancements we’re launching with this new design.

Designed for comfortable live-aboard family and friends sailing, the 625 interior options also allow for a forepeak layout to be set out for a full-time crew member. The main areas in the yacht feature two forward cabins, each with its own heads and shower, a spacious owners suite and a fourth cabin that can be configured as a workshop, guest cabin or a children’s cabin with access from the master cabin.

There is an option of a sliding companionway access from the master cabin to the aft deck or owners may prefer to keep the aft deck uncluttered giving a 2m by 2.2m leisure area. The cleaner, more modern bulwark profile, with its integral stanchions and mooring cleats, creates spacious, uncluttered side decks, whilst the smoother, flush lines of her foredeck produces more deck space than the Oyster 62. There is also the option of three large vertical portlights in the hull, to port and starboard, to further enhance the views out from the saloon giving this new Oyster real superyacht quality.

With an overall length of just under 19.4m (63.5ft) including pulpit, the Oyster 625 supports options of cutter rig, double headsail and in-mast furling. A displacement length ratio of 182 and a sail area displacement ratio of 22.3 deliver sparkling performance for comfortable passage making. The striking new Oyster 625 is guaranteed to turn heads wherever she goes.

Designed to fit between the Oyster 565 and the Oyster 675 as part of a family of three yachts, the Oyster 595 is a voluminous sub-60 footer that can be handled by just two people. With many layout options (including a five cabin version) like its smaller and larger sisters, the Oyster 595 can have the master cabin forward and a dinghy garage aft. Spacious sail lockers and lazarette ensure that this yacht can comfortably cruise long distances.

The Oyster 565 is the entry level yacht for the ‘G6’ fleet of seven models up to the Flagship Oyster 118. Using the latest generation of Oyster hull shapes, developed with Humphreys Yacht Design, the Oyster 565 is designed for family sailing without professional crew. Developed from years of experience building 120 versions of the Oyster 56 and the Oyster 575, the new Oyster 565 provides the essential fourth cabin which can be used as a utility space or for an extra bunk. A generous sail locker and lazarette, headroom and bunk lengths to match the larger Oyster Superyachts, the 565 can be configured with many different cabin layouts – and for the first time in Oyster – can have the Master Cabin forward and a dinghy garage in the transom.

Different sail and rig combinations are also available and reflect the learning from how to optimize for either the Oyster World Rallies or for regattas and coastal cruising.

The Oyster 475 is in truth more evolution than revolution. Afer all, why completely change something which is already so successful?

With a lengthened hull giving a larger aft deck, plus a host of other subtle enhancements both in styling and fit-out, the 475 has evolved from the well-proven Oyster 46. And she carried the DNA of her illustrious predecessors, the Holman & Pye designed Oysters 46, 435, 45/47 and 485 – of which around 200 were built.

A worthy successor indeed – another benchmark in fact.

Defining a new phase in Oyster’s long running, carefully structured product development programme, the company is delighted to announce the all new Oyster 675. Pairing with the Oyster 745 concept introduced in Autumn 2013, the Oyster 675 completes for now a new third tier to Oyster’s range, meeting the evolving needs of owners and how they view and crew their sailing.

Creating balance and pace, the twin rudder hull by Humphreys Yacht Design is configured and engineered to take a more powerful rig plan than the smaller yachts, with options for carbon masts and rigging and performance sails that will make this model appeal to those who enjoy fast passages and have, perhaps, a keen eye also on the trophies at Oyster’s exclusive regattas. Yet this is not a lightweight racing yacht, it has everything an Oyster should, just in a hull form that gives an extra 10 percent on the water and with either the swinging centerboard or standard keel versions, comfortable performance is guaranteed.

Externally the sweeping teak and rollover-bulwark decks show a practical plan for sail-handling and play, including foredeck stowage for the tender and step-down sunbathing platform for fun time at anchor. An extended transom version further enlarges the aft deck and gives an even more determined look to the profile while also enabling a dinghy garage.

With its lower profile, stretched deck saloon window visually triggering a sense of power and purpose in a manner akin to the more tasteful of performance road cars, this Oyster 675 joins the latest ‘Coupé’ range.

Internally, with two spacious double guest cabins complementing the full beam master suite and a fourth cabin for the crew (with options for en-suite facilities), the Oyster 675 brings together choices to detail the yacht for family, for occasional charter, or for long distance exploring and adventure, with professional help aboard.

The 675 also has two main interior options revolving around the galley location, owners choosing between an enclosed highly efficient and seaworthy galley just aft of the main saloon or a traditional ‘linear’ design through which you can walk to the master cabin making this model a really spacious yacht to enjoy in comfort.

The Oyster 675 – set to be the center of attention.

The Oyster 825 has all it needs to take your breath away. It was built with maximum attention to each detail and is fitted with a wide range of comfort features and luxurious amenities.

The yacht is available in both Deck Saloon and Raised Saloon versions and features a contemporary style, clear deck lounging areas and larger hullports with “Seascape” windows.

The new Oyster 825 is nearly 15% more internal volume than its predecessor (the Oyster 82). Therefore, the Oyster 825 delivers more space for the en-suite owner and guest accommodation in the three double cabins aft.

As far as power is concerned the, Oyster 825 is propelled by a Cummins QSB 5.9 227kW (305hp) engine.

The Oyster 745 is an elegant yacht fitted with a comprehensive list of luxurious features that were especially selected to make your life on board as comfortable as possible.

The new Oyster 745 features a new twin-rudder hull format which replaces the old 72/725 model. You’ll especially like the distinctive deck saloon which gives the entire yacht an exquisite look. Moreover, there are also available a wide range of rigs, which give you the possibility to optimize the sail plan for speed or short-handed sailing.

It is also worthy of being mentioned that the yacht features a perfectly planked teak deck plan and there is also a standing-height lazarette and sail locker.

The Oyster 885 is a true masterpiece of craftsmanship. It features a sleek, elegant style and a comprehensive list of features which help it cruise for long distances without too much fuss.

The Oyster 885 was designed together with Humphreys Yacht Design so you can expect to faultless ergonomics and superior sailing performances.

Fitted with four guest cabins, the yacht rewards its occupants with plenty of useable space, comfort and luxury. Apart from the owner’s stateroom there are other three en suite guest cabins, one of which can be configured as a study or lower saloon area. There also two cabins for the crew together which also receive their own special galley with mess area.

Power comes from Cummins QSB 9.0 engines which deliver a maximum output of 246kW (330hp).

Designed for those who are looking a fast cruising yacht, the Oyster 725 is perfectly capable to impress even the most demanding sailors.

Among the features offered by the Oyster 72 you’ll find triple ‘seascape’ vertical hull windows in the saloon, a flush aft deck, roll edge side decks and a welcoming interior which will impress you with its top notch built quality.

In terms of power, the Oyster 725 is propelled by Cummins QSB 5.9 156kW (212hp) engines which are fueled by a generous 2000 Litres fuel tank.

Other notable features include a hot and cold pressurised fresh water system, a GN Espace gimballed stainless steel gas cooker (5 burners, grill and oven with harbour lock), refrigerators and an electric galley sink discharge pump.

Since its inception, the Oyster 575 has been constantly upgraded and the latest model has all it needs to be considered a fairly attractive yacht.

Featuring a wide range of modern equipments, a tasty style and a long list of luxury amenities, the Oyster 575 is ready to impress even the most demanding riders.

The new generation comes with a totally fresh interior and various changes to the layout.

For the start, the saloon comes with vertical ‘Seascape’ windows and a raised chart area up to the same level as the rest of the saloon seating. Moreover, the forward guest cabin is now bigger and has its own access directly into the forward head.

Other changes have been made to the joinery, upgraded cabin doors and door furniture and custom saloon air con outlets.

The Oyster 545is based on the Oyster 54 model but it comes with a comprehensive list of upgrades which give it a more upscale character.

The Oyster 545 comes with a clean hull design, a powerful rig and a low centre of gravity bulb keel. Based on the old Oyster 46, the new Oyster 475 comes with a series of improvements in terms of style and fit-out.

Thanks to its ergonomic design and the comprehensive list of comfort features, the Oyster 475 is a great boat for families.

Thanks to its light, strong and stiff hull and deck, the yacht is pretty easy to handle and offers high levels of stability. The yachts are powered by Yanmar 4JH4-TE, SD50 55kw (75hp) engine which are fueled by 750 Litres fuel tanks.

Step on board and you’ll find a lot of space and many luxury amenities. The yacht features a luxurious three-cabin accommodation, which allows six to sleep in comfort – without using the saloon. There is also a large stateroom plus a spacious en-suite heads and shower.

Other domestic systems include a calorifier hot water heater, WCs, a gimballed stainless steel gas cooker with 4 burners, grill and oven, and a Frigomatic front opening stainless steel fridge.

The Oyster 49, designed by Rob Humphreys and the Oyster Design Team, is a natural successor to the successful Holman & Pye designed Oyster 485 and offers a slightly smaller alternative to the Oyster 53.

The design of a potential successor to the outstanding Oyster 45, which in turn replaced the hugely successful Oyster 435 was always going to present a big challenge to Rob Humphreys and the Oyster Design Team.

The Oyster LD43 combines traditional craftsmanship, with modern design and technology, to create a unique blend of performance, sea keeping and comfort. The LD43 is about good times afloat, whether dining alfresco in the cockpit, having a candlelit dinner in the enclosed saloon or enjoying a cruise with family and friends. Modern composite construction with carbon fibre and Kevlar will create a strong light hull, optimised for us by Levi Designs and tank tested at the Wolfson Unit.
