Russia’s counterpart to the great American Hummer has arrived in the form of the GAZ VPK Strela. The vehicle was showcased at the seventh International Military-technical forum that was held in Russia between 22-28th of August.

When assembly of the Hummer H1 was ceased in 2006 not many have been able to purchase a brand new one. But, there are a few that are in like new condition, liek the one you see here. Canepa along with Predator performance was commissioned earlier this year to improve and restore this Hummer H1 Alpha to mint condition, and let’s just say, it’s better than new.

Almost every new upcoming EV truck has an SUV-twin – Rivian R1T and R1S, Bollinger B1 and B2, and so on. GMC has jumped the wagon, too, and has officially announced an electric SUV based on the Hummer EV. While many features are shared, there are a few differences between the two that deem the SUV to be the inferior one. It boasts of fewer horses in the SUV avatar but there seems to be no price difference in the three standard trims on offer.

Mil-Spec Automotive is back with another classic Hummer build. Called the M1-R Vision, the build comes with a snazzy exterior and interior, and a turbo V-8 that makes 500 horses. The Michigan-based tuner noted that while the truck has gone heavily under the knife, it has retained all the good stuff and taken out the bad. Yes, this is an extinct breed and Mil-Spec seems to have a good job, but is it worth spending over a quarter-million dollars on?

Ford unleashed the new Bronco in all its glory earlier this year. It sure put the Jeep Wrangler on red alert, but other than that, it doesn’t really have any other competitor. Rendering artist Ryan Schlotthauer, however, has imagined the Boulder, a baby Hummer of sorts that has the potential to take on the Bronco and the Wrangler head-on. GM, can you just hire him already?

GM dropped a major bomb earlier this year when it announced the return of the buried moniker, the Hummer. However, what surprised folks even more was that Hummer, known to be a gas guzzler, was now being presented as a sober vehicle that doesn’t drink anymore. But, despite this opposite-end-of-the-spectrum reincarnation, what didn’t change was its monstrous size and the attention-grabbing persona.

The automaker unveiled a few teasers during the Superbowl earlier this year and had plans to reveal the supertruck sometime in May. But, courtesy of the pandemic, the plans went haywire. Now, the company has finally taken the wraps off this beast and given us a few details. So, is the GMC Hummer EV worth the hype?

The long-awaited GMC Hummer EV has finally made it’s debut, and it comes to the party with a lot of noteworthy features and some pretty impressive performance. According to GMC, the new Hummer EV will be power by (and as expected) GM’s new Ultium batteries and the new Ultium Drive electronic motors. The Hummer will feature a total of three electric motors that, according to GMC, will deliver and impressive 1,000 horsepower and a “GM-estimated 11,500 pound-feet of torque.” It all reality, it’ll probably put close to 900 pound-feet to the ground, but we’ll leave that discussion for another time. GMC has offered up some pricing and trim information with the entry-level model commanding $79,995, but it comes with just two electric motors. It’ll be coined the “EV2” and will launch in spring of 2024. It will be preceded by the EV2x in 2023 (the lowest model that can do the CrabWalk) and the Hummer EV3X, which will be available in Fall of 2020 with a $99,995 price tag.

Apart from the Bronco, there was another nameplate set to make a return this year – the Hummer. GMC even played out commercials at the Superbowl announcing a 20 May 2020 debut, but that didn’t happen due to the pandemic. Now, the company has announced that the Hummer will debut later this fall. The production of the electric super truck will begin in the fall of 2021.

Michigan-based Mil-Spec Automotive is quite the name when it comes to aftermarket mods. The company specializes in transforming civilian-model Hummer H1s to rather rugged beasts. The company had recently built a Ford F-150 as well, but it is back again to its niche. Mil-Spec has gotten hold of a Hummer H1 yet again and has transformed it into an apocalypse-ready off-roader.

The company has made exterior and interior upgrades and bumped up the drivetrain power figures for a price tag of $300,000 on this bespoke H1 Supertruck build. Now that Hummer has taken a complete U-turn on its personality and is ready to debut as an EV, this build should make some old-school off-road aficionados more than happy.

May 20, 2020. This was the day GM was supposed to reveal the exciting new 2022 Hummer electric pickup truck. But, courtesy of the pandemic, the launch is inevitably delayed. However, GM decided to tease enthusiasts and reveal a key detail that just made the Hummer a lot more desirable.

The automaker released a short video clip that shows the Hummer electric pickup truck with the roof panels removed. Well, didn’t see that one coming, did you?

Back in January, GM announced that the Hummer brand is making a comeback as an electric brand. A couple of weeks later, the automaker teased the reincarnated brand’s first vehicle, an electric truck, in a commercial at the 2020 Superbowl. The short ads revealed a few details about the ‘quiet revolution’ along with the reveal date – May 20, 2020. The countdown had already begun and people were already looking forward to it, but it looks like the launch is delayed. The company announced in a statement that the Hummer EV’s launch is delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. Well, that’s the latest launch to be affected by COVID-19.

The Hummer EV is still a long time away, but here’s a new bit of information. GMC has filed for a new Hummer logo with the U.S. Patents and Trademarks Office. It still spells out “HUMMER”, but the font is different and fresh.

Along with this, GMC sent a second application as well, requesting the “Hummer” brand name to various applications. There was one application filed with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office as well. Although things seem to progress with the reincarnated brand, when will the truck itself be revealed, GM?

Rumors about an all-electric version of the Hummer have been soaring over the internet for a while, but it looks like they will finally come to fruition thanks to GM.

According to a report concocted by The Wall Street Journal, General Motors will breathe life into the discontinued Hummer nameplate as it wants to place it on a new electric pickup truck.

While it failed as a brand as soon as it launched the H3, Hummer became an iconic brand with the H1. Produced by AM General from 1992 until 2006, the H1 is still regarded as one of the best off-road, military-based civilian vehicles ever built. 12 years have passed since it was discontinued, and the H1 returns as a restomod vehicle by Mil-Spec.

The Hummer H2 was the poster child for GM and the era when body-on-frame SUVs conquered the automotive scene. It was the 2003 model year when the H2 got its start. Things stayed relatively unchanged for the majority of the H2’s existence, save for a drivetrain and interior update in 2008. Sadly, GM stopped production of the H2 midway through the 2009 model year before completely killing the Hummer division in 2010 amid financial woes and the “Great Recession.”

The 2006 model year represents the midway point in the H2’s existence. It also represents the beginning of the end, with sales spiraling downward at a breakneck pace towards ruin. Just over 17,000 H2s were purchased in 2006, a far cry from the 53,000 H2s sold before the end of 2003.

Nevertheless, the H2 soldiered on in bold fashion. Its squared jaw, big V-8 power and rugged suspension kept it highly regarded by off-road enthusiasts and Hollywood personalities. It was the SUV to have and everyone wanted the H2, whether they bought one or not.
