After pulling the plug on the regular Golf, Volkswagen retained the GTI and R with the new generation in the U.S. A more powerful 315 horsepower pumping 2.0-liter engine is powering the Golf R and with that comes AWD as standard. Drag races are fun when the cars involved in the race are closely matched and you don’t know which one’s going to win.
