Lamborghini Paris Motor Show Cars

It’s been less than two weeks since Volkswagen announced that it will skip the 2018 Paris Motor Show, and Lamborghini has now revealed that it will join its parent company in not setting up a booth at one of the world’s most important car shows. Volkswagen and Lambo are only two of many automakers that won’t show up in Paris, including Ford, Infiniti Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Subaru, and Volvo.

The Volkswagen Group has announced that two of its premium brands, Bentley and Lamborghini, are skipping the 2016 Paris Motor Show next week in an attempt to cut spending to help soften the blow of the costs it is incurring stemming from the diesel emissions scandal.

The exit of Bentley and Lamborghini comes a week after other brands announced their intention to skip the show. Aston Martin, Ford, and Rolls-Royce, and Volvo also won’t be attending the event for various reasons, including cost-cutting, revised auto show strategies, and in Volvo’s case, changing business priorities. The two VW brands are touting similar reasons for dropping out of the event. Bentley, for instance, said that it would put its focus on attending smaller auto shows where it can market its products more directly to its clientele. For its part, Lamborghini is adopting a similar strategy of picking its spots more carefully in the future, including attending auto shows in strategic locations where the market for its performance cars are the strongest.

The mass withdrawal among automakers that have been regular attendees at the Paris Motor Show can be attributed to a number of different reasons. Bentley and Lamborghini, in addition to their own specific reasons, are both tied into the affairs of the Volkswagen Group, which is still reeling from the diesel emissions scandal that has cost the conglomerate hundreds of millions of dollars. Add that to the enormous costs of simply attending an auto show as high-profile as Paris and the decision to skip the event in an effort to save some money is a prudent choice to make.

All of the big names in the performance category are jumping into the hybrid supercar ring. The Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 have been dominating headlines with their prodigious performance, but now there is one more contender jumping into the game. Lamborghini has just unveiled a hybrid supercar called the Asterion. It is a plug-in hybrid, more similar to the Porsche 918 than the machines from McLaren and Ferrari. The system uses a trio of electric motors along with a gasoline-powered, V-10 engine to create a monumental 897 horsepower. The results are a zero to 60 time that hovers around 3 seconds, a top speed of around 200 mph, and it will travel for more than 30 miles on pure electric power alone.

The only thing about the Asterion that isn’t amazing seems to be the looks. The design is a bit questionable in these first photos, but we expect it will be like the Porsche Panamera; prettier in person than in print. We already know Lamborghini is bringing a brand-new supercar to the 2014 Paris Motor Show, but there’s still a lot of mystery surrounding the company’s new bull. Our best guess is Lambo has come up with a 2+2 coupe to toss in the general direction of the Ferrari FF, but all the important details are still under wraps. However, we expected for more info to surface as the French event draws near, and it seems it didn’t take too long for the first rumors to hit the Interwebz. Unfortunately, there are no powertrain details or leaked photos, but word has it the upcoming Lamborghini could be called Asterion.

That’s the word from Autoblog.nl, which states Lamborghini has filed a trademark for the "Asterion" logo. Is this the name the Italians are using for the new 2+2, mid-engine supercar? It’s very likely, as Lamborghini already owns the trademark for the Asterion name, which it filed alongside the Encaste moniker recently. Autoblog.nl also reports the yet unconfirmed Asterion could use a hybrid drivetrain, with an electric motor to spin the front wheels.

As if the 2014 Paris Motor Show wasn’t interesting enough with the planned debuts of the Mercedes-AMG GT, the Jaguar XE and the Infiniti QX70S Design, the folks over at Lamborghini have announced plans to introduce a new vehicle of their own at the French event. But unlike other manufacturers, the Italian company didn’t release more than just a teaser photo and a vague description of its upcoming supercar.

Although the photo is far from revealing, it does say a lot about Lambo’s new creation. Firstly, it’s obvious the body shape doesn’t stray far from what we’ve seen from the Italians lately. There’s a bit of Huracan and Aventador in there, with muscular rear fenders that incorporate large air intakes. Secondly, the engine is right where it’s supposed to be; behind the seats. So far so good, but then there’s the message that comes with the teaser. It reads "once perfection is achieved, you can just double it," and, needless to say, it leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

Granted, it doesn’t mean we’ll be getting a special-edition Huracan with double the horsepower, but what’s Lamborghini up to? Should we expect a Lambo with two additional doors, as in a four-door super sedan? Are the Italians adding two more seats to come up with a 2+2 GT? As everyone expected, Lamborghini’s teaser video for the 2012 Paris Auto Show was indeed about a special edition Gallardo: the Gallardo LP 570-4 Edizione Tecnica. The Superleggera style spotted in this teaser video previewed the design elements of this special edition which are borrowed from the LP 570-4 Superleggera and the LP 570-4 Spyder Performante.

Special features on the new Edizione Tecnica include a fixed high rear wing and new brakes in carbon-ceramic technology. These two new elements help the car deliver an impressive power to weight ratio of just 2.35, one of the best references in the segment.

The new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Edizione Tecnica can be ordered in three exclusive color combinations: Nero Nemesis (matte black) body with Arancio Argos (orange) pillars and front air intakes, Bianco Canopus (matte white) body with Arancio Argos pillars and front air intakes, and Arancio Argos body with Nero Nemesis pillars and front air intakes.

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Edizione Tecnica will go on sale in November 2012. Prices will be announced at a later date.

After several days of teasing us with what looked to be an all-new Gallardo, Lamborghini has decided to lift the veil off of this beast and give us a look at it. This all-new Lambo, dubbed the Gallardo LP 560-4, made its debut in Paris alongside its slightly upgraded counterpart, the Gallardo 570-4 Edizione Technica.

Overall, the Gallardo’s body will remain intact from last year’s model, but Lambo will be making mild additions to the already sexy body. The real question remains whether Lamborghini actually improved upon its entry-level – if you can really call any Lamborghini an “entry-level car – supercar’s already popular appearance, or were these changes simply unnecessary and counterproductive.

A while ago, we reported that Lamborghini was preparing to bid adieu to the current Gallardo supercar with one last special edition that will be unveiled at the 2012 Paris Auto Show. Today, with just a few hours before the show’s official launch, the Italian company has dropped a teaser video for this new Gallardo.

The video doesn’t show much about the new car, but it does feature a "Gallardo" logo towards the end. Then there’s the official description of the video which states "#nova is unveiling at Paris Motor Show 2012: September 27th - 9:00 am CET What’s next?"

The word "Nova" sticks out like sore thumb in that description. The Italian word for "new" is "nuovo," so it can’t be describing the new Gallardo as many of us expected. "Nova’ is the Portuguese word for "new," but we just don’t see Lamborghini going all Portuguese on us. The logical assumption would be that Lamborghini is preparing to unveil another special edition model, which is what the guys over at LamboCars.com think. In fact, they have created a rendering of said "Nova" model, or could this be a leaked image? They state that the model teased in the video is the final edition in the Gallardo lineup. Their keen eyes noticed a Superleggera style wheel, carbon fiber exterior rear view mirrors, and a Gallardo seat. Bottom line: This may just be a special edition Gallardo that delivers more power than the LP560-4.

Guess we’ll just have to wait until tomorrow to get the official information on this mysterious Gallardo Nova!

After six teaser images, Lamborghini has finally unwrapped the Sesto Elemento. The concept comes with an overall curb weight of just 2,202 lbs, a V10 power unit, and permanent all-wheel drive, as well as innovative carbon-fiber technologies. The concept is the only vehicle manufactured in the world to have mastered the complete CFRP process across a range of technologies, from 3D design through simulation, validation, production, and testing

The V10 engine delivers an amazing 570 HP and has a power-to-weight ratio of only 1.75 kilograms per hp. This allows the concept to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in a sensational 2.5 seconds, while top speed will be higher than 186 mph.

The Sesto Elemento features a lightweight carbon-fiber structure with the entire front frame, exterior panels, and crash boxes also made of CFRP. The major suspension components and the rims are also made from carbon fiber and the tailpipes are made from Pyrosic, which is an advanced glass-ceramic matrix composite. Carbon fiber is also present in the interior on the floor and roof of the monocoque, on the doors, and on the cockpit and center console.

Updated 11/10/2010: In a recent report, Automotive News says that Lamborghini will put the Sesto Elemento concept into limited production. There will be 5 to 10 units built, and like usual the exclusivity has a big price: 2.5 million Euro (almost $3,500,000 at the current exchange rates). Now that the Murcielago is out of production, Lamborghini’s sales will have to suffer, and this decision was made in an attempt to improve the company’s profit that has been hit hard by the global economic crisis.

Updated 11/22/2010: Lamborghini has officially confirmed that the Sesto Elements concept will indeed go into production, but as a track-only special. In an interview with AutoCar, company boss Stephan Winkelmann said: "We are testing the Sesto Elemento at the moment and if it all goes well then we could look at a limited production run. But it would not be homologated because there are complications with things like airbags. It would be for track use only."

We’ll admit, it’s a little anticlimactic to be showing you the sixth and last teaser of Lamborghini’s mystery car after we’ve already seen the entire in all its glory, courtesy of a leaked photo that was released yesterday by some naughty fellow in France.

Nevertheless, we’ve made it past five of the six teasers so in the interest of continuity; we now have the sixth and final teaser of the mystery concept car that’s scheduled to debut at the Paris Motor Show in a few days.

Heck, they even scooped up the official name for this new Lamborghini beast - the Sesto Elemento Concept – and the time it’s going to be unveiled by Lamborghini.

So in the event that you’re in the vicinity of the Paris Motor Show at 7:45 a.m. tomorrow morning, you might want to pull out your cameras to take as many photos of the Sesto Elemento Concept as you can..

Lamborghini has been spending its time teasing us with a new supercar, or concept, set to be revealed at the Paris Auto Show at the end of the week. If you are anything like us then you are pretty tired of seeing these vague images splattered across your screen with no real information attached to them. This frustration comes to an end right about now because we might finally have some information regarding this mysterious supercar.

It seems that the inexplicable automobile shown in theteaser images is the Sesto Elemento (translated to Sixth Element in English), a concept car created almost entirely from carbon fiber (if you remember the fourth teaser said "the sixth element - carbon fiber"). The new concept is expected to weigh in at 2,200 pounds (yes, that’s less than 1000 kilos) and is predicted to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds. Wow. With a V10 engine under the hood, the Sesto will be able to hit a top speed of no less than 217.5 mph. This new concept opens the doors to Lamborghini’s future supercars so it comes as no surprise that we are all ecstatic about this development. Just a few more days and we can feast our eyes on the supercar design of the future!

Alright folks, we’re almost there! Lamborghini has released teaser number five out of the six due to be shown before their supercar is revealed at the Paris Auto Show in just a few days. This new teaser reveals the "Lightening technologies," whatever that means. The whole teaser thing is just getting more and more vague. There’s just one more teaser to go, and we’re sure that will not be shedding any more light on this mysterious supercar. We’re still trying to figure out which part of the car this shady picture belongs to.

We have to remind you that, despite everyone’s expectations, this teaser does not reveal the long rumored Jota, as rumors suggest that Lamborghini will not be bringing that highly anticipated model to Paris. Now, people are talking about a new concept car, known as the 83X, that will preview the company’s future technology. And since Lamborghini is only teasing us with images that do not reveal anything, we can’t tell you more about this new model. But stay with us, the Paris Show is just around the corner, and then we’ll have the official details for you!

Here we go again! Excited to see the new Lamborghini supercar up close and personal when it is revealed at the Paris Motor Show, we are scavenging the web to try and find more information to let loose before the official unveiling. Thankfully, we didn’t have to look long since Lamborghini has revealed its 4th teaser image out of the six it will be showing before the car takes the stage at the end of the week. This time, the teaser image reveals the sixth element of the car: the carbon fiber. Despite everyone’s expectations, this teaser does not reveal the long rumored Jotaas that model has been scratched from the Paris show’s lineup. Yeah, we know. We’re bummed too.

Instead, it is said that Lamborghini will only be bringing one concept vehicle to the show that will preview the company’s future technology. We don’t know much of the vehicle, except for what they have showed us in their indistinct teaser images, but we have heard that this model is coded the "83X".

Regardless of what it’s called or what it can do, which we haven’t heard anything on just yet, the mysterious concept is a Lamborghini so we are sure we will not be disappointed.

We’re going to warn you now; what you’re about to read probably won’t sit well with you, especially if you’re one of those people that have been waiting for the Lamborghini Jota to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show.

According to Auto Guide, the highly anticipated successor to the Murcielago won’t be in attendance when the auto show kicks off in a week’s time. Instead, Lamborghini will only be bringing one concept vehicle to the show, the technology demonstrator concept that has been the subject of all those teaser images Lamborghini’s been releasing.

This latest news is, of course, crushing for everyone – including us – who have been waiting with baited breath to see the Jota completely undisguised. Unfortunately, all of us will just have to wait a little while longer.

Despite that largely deflating news, Lamborghini still has plans to make an impact at the annual event with the new technology concept they’ve developed over at Sant’Agata. It’s still one of the vehicles that we’re mostly looking forward to seeing, but it still doesn’t escape our disappointment that we’ll only be seeing one Lamborghini at the event instead of two.

While Lamborghini is performing a slow and sensual strip tease of their future supercar by way of a few teaser photos, spy photographers are busy taking pictures of the car testing at the Nurburgring. However, this is one case where giving away the milk for free will not stop anyone from buying the cow.

The 2012 Jota will be powered by a 7.0-liter V12 engine that will produce in excess of 700bhp and 700Nm of torque (there are voices suggesting it will be 720 HP). The car will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3 seconds, while top speed will be in the 225 mph area. The engine will be mated to a seven-speed, paddleshift automated manual gearbox. It will be shorter and weigh about 300lbs. less than the Murcielago. It will be built on a new carbon-fiber tub and will use as much aluminum and carbon fiber as possible to reduce weight. The only new information these spy images reveal are Reventon-style intakes and a retractable rear wing.

Lamborghini’s teasing game of this Paris-bound mystery car - coded as "83X" - continues with the release of the third teaser photo. Since Lamborghini promised to release six of these teasers, we’re already half-way to that number. But you already knew that.

In any case, this latest image appears to be the mystery car’s carbon fiber dashboard with what looks like an out-of-focus red steering wheel. Assuming, of course, that our hunch is correct and that this is, in fact, the dashboard of Lambo’s new toy, then we’ll be the first to say that we’re blown away by how cutting-edge it looks. Not that we’d expect anything less from the folks over at Sant’Agata, but even we didn’t expect something like this.

We’ve already been informed that Lamborghini is bringing two cars to the Paris Motor Show with one of them being the likely successor to the Murcielago and, well, this one.

We normally don’t get geeked up with teaser photos, but considering the possibilities of what this car could look like – and since it’s a Lamborghini - we’re going to make an exception for this one.
