Rivian Pickup Trucks

There were rumors of a quad-motor setup making the cut in the Cybertruck, and the EV czar, Elon Musk, has now confirmed the same. Replying to a tweet, Musk said that a four-motor variant will hit the production line first. What’s more, the truck will also have Tank Turn and Crab modes! Talk about taking the Rivian R1T and the GMC Hummer EV’s most-talked features.

Rivian took the internet by storm back in the day when it announced a feature that would turn the truck on a dime. Such technology was possible because you have a motor on every wheel which controls them individually. Now, the automaker has milked this hardware some more to come up with something known as a K-turn. In its essence, it is pretty much the same as the Tank Turn, but it isn’t as aggressive and won’t dig a hole if you attempt it on a soft surface.

Like many other automakers, Rivian is also in the Christmas spirit. The automaker used its R1T pickup truck to power 20,000 Christmas lights and make it a ‘lit’ night for families at the Timber Pointe Outdoor Center. Obviously, it caught everyone’s attention. It wasn’t a subtle Christmas ad, say, like Ford’s Griswold ad, but it at least showed off the truck’s potential. If only we knew how long it can power so many lights.

Rivian created a splash when it announced and showcased the R1T pickup truck and the R1T SUV. The products looked stunning, came with some brilliant features and specs, and was touted to be the segment leader with these offerings. We kept getting updates on the products ever since, but Rivian hadn’t officially launched it with all the details. Now, after many years, we have some concrete information. Rivian has announced the packages, pricing, and some more information for both these vehicles. Brace yourselves, folks; it’s finally happening!

We’ve been seeing Rivian for a very long time now. The truck is covered in-depth by many websites and YouTube channels and we know what to expect from it. On paper, the specs seem pretty good, but we hadn’t seen it on the road other than spying it a couple of times during testing and commercial shoots. But, with so much happening in the truck segment in the last couple of days, the 2021 Ford F-150 and Lordstown Endurance’s launch, and Ram confirming the TRX’s arrival, Rivian decided to hop on the train too.

Rivian released a few short clips of the R1T pickup truck that show its off-roading prowess. With the Tank Turn also in its arsenal, the R1T might be the next big thing in the off-roading truck niche. How about that!

We recently heard Indiana Police Department say it’ll update its fleet with Tesla Model 3s. Not to mention, when law enforcement agencies purchase vehicles, it is generally in big numbers. To make sure Tesla doesn’t penetrate deep into this target market and bags all the potential future orders, Rivian has come up with a solution that is aimed at the convenience of the police officers.

The automaker has developed an unusual design for its seats that makes it comfortable for them to sit and drive around when carrying their guns and weapon gear. Will this be enough to convince the agencies to consider Rivian vehicles to replace their current fleet?

Amazon has seamlessly slipped into the automotive sector quite successfully. Unlike Sony and Samsung, Amazon is not working on a product directly for now, but it sure has left a strong impression by working with some of the most happening brands of today.

At the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show, Lamborghini added Amazon Alexa to its feature list and this was nothing short of an honor for the Seattle-based company. But it doesn’t end here. Now, Rivian has announced that Alexa will be directly integrated into the hardware of the R1T truck and R1S SUV.

Remember when rumors surfaced a few days before the Cybertruck’s launch that it would be able to turn 360-degrees like a tank? Although Tesla didn’t bring the feature, it sure sowed the seeds into the minds of the competition. It became a hot topic and Rivian decided to capitalize on it. Rivian’s pickup truck, the R1T, was spotted during commercial filming in Canada. The R1T was seen driving around completely undisguised, giving the residents and onlookers a preview of one of the most exciting vehicles coming to the market in the near future.

We’ve seen the Rivian R1T during various events and we are mighty impressed with what RJ Scaringe, the CEO, has managed to come up for it. Rivian has released trailers and pictures of the pickup truck and it sure looks great. However, it was never really spied or seen on the roads to get an idea of what it looks like in real-world conditions; after all, things can be deceiving when viewed under shiny lights. But the truck was recently spotted testing in Argentina and we have to say, it does not disappoint.

This is more of a statement from Rivian than an announcement. The company has made it quite clear that it has the stomach to take on the biggest, baddest bully in the market - Tesla - head-on. Even though Tesla enjoys a better brand recall, Rivian has taken an alternate path to become a household name in the EV adventure lifestyle segment. The startup from Michigan has been promoting its Rivian R1T truck as an EV camper now. Seeing the photos on the company’s social media, we must say it looks exciting.

The war between Tesla and Rivian is heating up, and the companies are thinking out of the box to make sure they stay ahead. Although Tesla took a giant leap by announcing that its truck will be priced "well under $50,000", it is Rivian’s R1T that has made the news. Rivian recently revealed a specialized kitchen set for the R1T electric truck at the Overland Expo West in Flagstaff Arizona. The way it has created a storm amongst the netizens, I wouldn’t be surprised if the next episode of Masterchef features the Rivian R1T kitchens in an outdoor location where the contestants cook for a bunch of enthusiasts. Electric vehicle start-up company Rivian made waves last year when it unveiled the Rivian R1T all-electric pickup and the R1S all-electric SUV. Today, Rivian is back in the news after revealing the 180 kWh battery pack it plans to use for both of its electric models. In so many words, this battery pack is huge. It’s so big that it’s been labeled the largest automotive battery pack…ever. The makeup of this battery pack includes a staggering 7,776 individual cells, and, according to Rivian, it should be able to offer a range of 410 miles, an extraordinary figure for any electric vehicle, let alone for a pickup and an SUV that are expected to be as large as they are heavy. In addition to the 180 kWh battery pack, Rivian is also developing a 105 kWh battery pack and a 135 kWh battery pack in what can only be described as a full-on flex to the entire industry.

I have got to admit; this is one of the hottest rivalries in the auto industry today. Rivian is clearly here to take on Tesla and, by the look of things, Rivian may actually sidestep the EV market leader very soon. Rivian’s CEO, Robert ’RJ’ Scaringe, recently spoke with AutoExpress and discussed how he plans to make Rivian the biggest and the baddest player of the industry.

Just before its official unveiling at the 2018 LA Auto Show, a new Michigan-based EV company revealed its first vehicle - an electric pickup truck called the Rivian R1T Pickup. I remember the buzz on the Internet when Tesla unveiled its Tesla Semi and that mad roadster some years ago. On one of the photographs, clever Tesla marketing gurus sketched what will become the Tesla Pickup. Well, Rivian beat them to the punch on that one. Or has it?

The company called known as Rivian has been around since 2009 and, while it actually did dwell into supercar making at the very start, rationalization brought the company much closer to the ground. Almost ten years after the story started, Rivian CEO, RJ Scaringe, actually decided to tell the world what the Rivian is all about. You haven’t heard a lot about the company until now, have you?

He revealed its intentions at just the right time - after the company acquired a Mitsubishi factory in Normal, Illinois. That’s the place where this sexy pickup (well, I think it’s kinda strange sexy) will be eventually produced. Obviously, Rivian wanted to present itself with a bit of a bang. Acquiring what once was a Mitsubishi factory is a bit like a bomb, especially when you take into account plans to introduce an electric SUV in a few years. Now, we have a pickup - it is 90-percent production ready and brings enough EV promises for us to pay some real attention to it.

Presenting the R1T before Tesla unveiled its pickup truck may very well be the right move. Rivian wants to cash in on people who are actually interested in this kind of thing. If you don’t know them, don’t worry, they will emerge just like Tesla Model S lovers emerged.

So, what’s the Rivian R1T all about?

The 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show will play host to a hot number of vehicles. Models like the all-new Porsche 992 911 will get most of the attention, but don’t dismiss a show-stopping piece like the Rivian R1T. The all-electric pickup truck comes to us by way of auto tech company Rivian, which started out in 2009 as a firm that developed products and services related to sustainable transportation. Almost a decade since its inception, Rivian finally had something to show for its decade-long plan to introduce an all-electric pickup to the market. Sure, the R1T is new to the all-electric vehicle scene, but it’s making up for lost time with an impressive array of features, none more surprising than a towing capacity that would put a lot of today’s incumbent pickups to shame.

Tesla might have already announced an all-electric pickup truck, but the folks from Rivian just took the spotlight and launched a production version of its own vehicle ahead of the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show.
