Ram Pickup Trucks

The SEMA Show plays host to hundreds of vehicles from automakers and aftermarket companies from all across the globe. One of the most consistent groups to take part at the show is Stellantis with Mopar. Most of its brands – especially Jeep – always turn heads with some fantastic concepts. This year was no exception as the auto group brought seven different concepts from Jeep, Ram, and Dodge to the recently concluded event at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Like with any other year before, the 2021 SEMA Show will bring an impressive lineup of custom cars. Mopar for example will present a total of seven concept cars, one of them being the Ram 1500 TRX RexRunner. As its name suggests, the Ram 1500 TRX RexRunner concept is based on the production version Ram 1500 TRX but adds an impressive lineup of Mopar accessories and custom parts.

What has the world come to? Just a decade ago, you wouldn’t think much of pick-up trucks in terms of straight-line acceleration. Sure, we’ve had things like the Ford Lightning or the GMC Syclone, but nowadays, you can buy a pick-up truck with well-over 600 and even 700 horsepower out the box. On today’s drag racing video from Sam CarLegion, we have a RAM 1500 TRX going up against a Ford F-150 Roush. The goal is simple – to find out who’s quicker at the quarter-mile.

Ram has been quite active with facelifts, new trims, and special editions lately. It wasn’t too long ago when the company came out with G/T-spec models for the 1500 Laramie and Rebel trims and the 10th Anniversary Edition for the 1500 Limited trim. Not to mention, there were the ‘Built to Serve’ Edition 1500s that came out in five phases, with the latest one coming out earlier this year.

Now, the Ram introduced three new special edition trucks at the ongoing State Fair of Texas. One of the three is based on the Ram 1500 TRX and it is a homecoming of sorts for the truck as the automaker unveiled the TRX Concept five years back at the same event. The other two special editions are based on the Longhorn and the Limited trims. The changes on all three are purely aesthetic and come with no upgrades or updates under the hood.

We talk about how the upcoming electric pickup trucks are fast and heavy on performance. Trucks like the Tesla Cybertruck, the Rivian R1T, the GMC Hummer EV, etc. are all quicker than some of the famous supercars of this era. Although internal combustion-engined trucks aren’t known to be ‘fast’, there are a handful of them that could are quite agile. The Ram 1500 TRX is primarily an off-road performance truck, but with specs like a supercharged V-8, 700+ horses, 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds, etc. there’s no reason why it shouldn’t hit the drag strip. So, Brooks from ‘DragTimes’ decided to have it go up against a Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD for a series of drag races. The EVO is obviously a lot more agile and suited to the track, but there’s a catch – the TRX isn’t stock. It puts out 1,000 horses; almost 30-percent more than its stock output! Which car do you have your money on?

Ram officially announced the electric 1500 a couple of weeks back without a whole lot of details. Ram’s parent company, Stellantis, celebrated an EV Day earlier this month wherein announced EVs from Dodge and Jeep, and of course, Ram. The 1500 EV’s production is slated to commence in 2024, but this could give it an edge over its rivals – which arrive earlier – as Ram can study the market better and come up with a well-rounded product right from the launch.

In fact, Ram also resonates with this and is confident of coming up with a truck that will be better than the Ford F-150 Lightning and the electric Chevy Silverado. The company’s brand marketing head noted that the electric 1500 won’t be a compromise. Well, if it’s arriving that late, we really hope it won’t in any aspect.

If you have an inclination towards 6x6 trucks, there’s a good chance you would’ve heard of Apocalypse. Remember the Hellfire 6x6? After building a six-wheel-drive truck based on the Jeep Gladiator. the aftermarket company has now taken a bigger truck under its wing for a similar build – presenting to you, the Apocalypse Warlord, a 6x6 truck based on the Ram 1500 TRX.

For very many years, the Ford F-150 Raptor was the only off-road standalone model you could get straight from the factory. Ram, however, decided to come up with a rival for it and announced its intention by coming up with a concept performance off-road truck in 2016 called the TRX. Pretty much everything we saw there made it to the production version as well.

Fast forward to 2020, Ram launched the TRX as a Raptor-killer by upping the ante in almost every single department. The TRX was introduced with a supercharged V-8 that makes over 700 horses, impressive off-road equipment and specs, and an uber-premium cabin. Given all the bells and whistles Ram offered, there was no way this was going to be an inexpensive truck. Ram priced it at $69,000 at launch in the ‘base’ form. At that time, it was clearly positioned above the Raptor as they both had a significant price difference.

While this is a truck that you definitely want, is this a truck that you actually need? A white 2021 Ram TRX arrived at TopSpeed and we find out the answer to that.

After Ford brought in the F-150 Lightning and Chevy announced the electric Silverado, the only one remaining was Ram. Now, the Stellantis brand has also officially confirmed a battery-electric 1500 truck to take the three-way war to electrifying levels. The auto group celebrated an EV Day, wherein three of its brands – Dodge, Jeep, and Ram – had some big announcements. While Dodge stole the limelight with its Muscle EV news, Jeep and Ram tried to hog some attention with the Grand Cherokee 4xe and the 1500 BEV.

The Ram 1500 BEV is a long time away, with production slated to begin in 2024. But, it is still good news, and the automaker will hope to replicate its recent truck success in the EV arena, too.

Ram is going through a purple patch right now and it doesn’t want to take its foot off the gas pedal. After beating the Chevy Silverado and the Ford F Series in the second-quarter sales this year, Ram is keeping the ball rolling by adding spice to its arsenal. The automaker launched the 1500 Limited 10th Anniversary edition earlier this month and has now come up with a couple more special edition trucks. This time, they’re based on the Laramie and Rebel models.

Ram has introduced G/T models for the 1500 Laramie and the 1500 Rebel that come with aesthetic upgrades and an updated exhaust system. They are priced at a premium over the standard models and will be available within the next couple of months.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Ram brought luxuriousness to the pickup truck segment. Take the 1500, for instance. The higher trims are plush enough to put similarly priced sedans and SUVs to shame. This has even forced companies like Chevy and GMC, and Ford to up the ante and come up with premium offerings.

Ram knows this, too, and isn’t very modest about it. To commemorate the 1500 Limited truck, the epitome of luxuriousness in the Ram 1500 lineup, the automaker has introduced a new 10th Anniversary Edition. The way Ram hyped it, it seemed like the truck will wear a big sticker price; but, it comes at a premium of just $3,000 over the standard Limited model, which isn’t too bad.

Stellantis isn’t wasting any time in changing course to an all-electric future. In fact, the conglomerate promises that by 2030, it will offer an electric powertrain for every nameplate under its umbrella, including Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge, and Maserati. In other words: each of these brands will sell an all-electric vehicle at some point in the near future.
