Aston Martin is known as a maker of exquisite and refined grand tourers, long-legged cars that offer enough panache to satisfy Ian Fleming’s James Bond on many an occasion. You could say Aston Martin knows every trick there is to know when it comes to building a front-engined GT car and that’s why they’re now looking to build more and more cars with the engine behind the seats. But the Valkyrie, the new Vanquish, and the AM-RB 003 aren’t the first of their kind in Aston Martin’s history.

When you think of any DB model from Aston Martin, you imagine an elegant two-door tourer ready for long journeys with a sumptuous and well-appointed interior and a feisty engine in front of the windshield. The company’s one and only Le Mans winner, the DBR1, was also front-engined as was the futuristic brick-like Lagonda luxury sedan from the ’70s. But, then, in the ’80s, when Aston Martin returned to sports car racing, it did so with a mid-engined car. This effectively heralded a new breed of Aston Martins, one that has stayed away from the public highways up until now but one that’s interesting to look into nonetheless.

Aston Martin just unveiled a new, limited-edition, and very expensive supercar. It features a V-12 engine with almost 700 horsepower and boasts a speedster design with no windshield, but with two sexy flying buttresses behind the seats. It’s freaking awesome and it’s a cool tribute to the company’s early race cars, but it’s also ridiculous and pointless. Here’s why.

As always, the Geneva Motor Show brought out some truly awesome debuts this year, the best of which we have right here in our Best In Show list. However, for all the good stuff that dropped in Switzerland, there was plenty of, well, not-quite-as-good stuff too. As such, we put together our picks for Worst In Show from the 2019 Geneva Motor Show right here.

The 2019 Geneva International Motor Show is now officially tucked away into the history books, but we’re still reeling from all the action that went down at the Palexpo convention center this year. And can you blame us? Per tradition, this annual four-wheel extravaganza brought out the vest finest the industry could muster, with the beautiful, the quick, and the fascinating all showing in full force. The Geneva Auto Show is the first and, arguably, the most important European car show of the season and, in 2019, it was unusually crowded with supercars and hypercars. Some were electric, some still moved by virtue of the good old combustion engine, but what was abundantly clear was that boutique manufacturers and coachbuilders-turned-automakers were out to steal the show and shade the giants. And that they did.

While other once-great auto shows have disappeared – take the Turin Auto Show as pertinent example – or have faded as years rolled by, like the London Auto Show, the Geneva Auto Show is as lively as ever. Granted, Ford, Volvo, Land Rover, and Jaguar elected to skip the Swiss show to save some cash, but almost everybody else was there - plus there was a healthy dose of smaller automakers.

The likes of Bugatti or Koenigsegg, manufacturers that are by no means small but that will never come forth with a genuine product for the masses, were also on site. The ones in the latter category stole many of the flashes from cameras and pundits dedicated long pieces to their extravagant lines and mind-bending spec sheets. Nobody from the established group of players in the exclusive supercar club had a proper answer to the small guys this year.

Revealed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show behind what seemed to be a rebarbative barrier and not a customary glass fence, the very black Bugatti La Voiture Noire become the most expensive car on earth. Its price is $18.9 million. The La Voiture Noire, a car that is a sort of a Buggati hommage to the stunning and super-rare Type 57 Atlantic, does look striking and almost otherworldly, but I am still pressed to justify its incredible value. In this article, I will explore how Bugatti can get off charging $18.9 million for the 2019 La Voiture Noire, an automobile more exclusive than the Bugatti Divo, and far more precious than the Bugatti Chiron. It is, still, directly linked to both of them.

Specs and figures that would have been considered outlandish and silly just a few decades ago are now becoming the norm, as million-dollar, 1,000+ horsepower monster machines seem to litter the Palexpo convention center floor in 2018. Rumored for more than two years now, the four-door version of the Mercedes-AMG GT sports car finally broke cover at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. However, it turns out that the GT 4-Door is exactly a sedan version of the already popular coupe. The four-door model not only uses a different platform that the sports car — based on that of the midsize E-Class — but it also looks a bit different front and rear. While this isn’t necessarily an issue, the fact that it’s very similar to the recently unveiled CLS has ignited some debate on whether Mercedes-Benz was a bit lazy in the design department.

Granted, the two cars are far from identical, but there aren’t many differences to talk about inside and out. That’s why we decided to bring them side by side for a proper comparison. Of course, with the AMG GT 4-Door being the more performance-oriented model, a proper comparison isn’t possible, but fortunately, both models come in "AMG 53" spec. Let’s have a closer look at what sets them apart on the outside, inside the cabin, and under the hood in the comparison below. Does it make sense for Merc to offer both? But, as is tradition, we must now don our collective troll faces and single out those rides that not only failed to make the cut, but also elicited our ire and dismay. The 2017 Geneva Motor Show has come to an end and it’s pretty obvious that this year’s event has been a massive success. With more than 60 vehicles on display, Geneva once again proved why its among the most important auto shows of the year.

But, while we drooled upon supercars like the Ferrari 812 Superfast, Lamborghini Huracan Performante, and McLaren 720S, Geneva also brought us quite a few cars for the average Joe. They might not be as spectacular when it comes to performance and technology, but they’re equally important to the automotive industry and deserve all the attention they can get.

Geneva may seem like an event that’s about the glitz and glamour of luxury and performance cars more than anything else, but this is mostly because we all dream of owning cars that can go fast, and keep us comfortable and connected with the latest gadgets. But, once we stop dreaming, we realize that we can’t afford a Lamborghini Huracan and that our daily driver is no-nonsense compact. When that moment comes, have a look at the cool, yet affordable cars you might have missed while rushing to find out how fast the Huracan is around the Nurburgring.

You might need a new daily driver soon. Just saying...
