The Porsche 911 GT3 is the ultimate, normally-aspirated 911 and the YouTube channel AutoTopNL recently got its hands on a 992 GT3 Touring – the more street-oriented, “less shouty” version of the normally-aspirated track weapon, without the crazy aero. And while race tracks are the home of the GT3, here, we see how capable the wingless version is, on the Autobahn. Is the “purest 911” capable enough, in the age of turbocharged performance cars?

Some years ago Cadillac tied a Christmas tree to the roof of a CTS-V Wagon to perform a holiday burnout. Six years later, Hennessey Performance tied a tree to a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk to give us the world’s fastest Christmas tree. Sort of.

With the pandemic still looming over our heads, 2021 was a pretty action-packed year for the auto industry. Developing a car from scratch starts with some drawing and calculations, then the building of test prototypes, then pre-production cars, and eventually the pilot production vehicles. Most of the time, test prototypes are usually destroyed when their use has been exceeded, yet here we are looking at a test prototype of the Porsche 959 – a car that is believed to be one of the few surviving examples of the F-Series prototypes from 1985. It’s currently listed for sale on Mechatronik for an undisclosed price, but is It truly authentic?

Russia is known for many things, but cars are not necessarily at the top of the list. When the Soviet Union is mentioned, AK47s, communism, and the Gulag come to mind for a good reason. Their society was geared more towards utility than innovation, so cars like the Lada and Trabant that got you from A to B were best sellers. They are not necessarily horrible cars but do not have any flair either. However, if you dig through enough coal, a few diamonds are bound to be discovered.

Porsche brought back the "Sports Classic" name with the Porsche 911 997 generation as a successor for the iconic Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS. Now, the name will be used once again, and an official launch for the new generation Porsche 911 992 Sport Classic is rumored for February 2022.

The folks at Carwow came up with yet another interesting mix of cars for a series of races. The contenders this time were three Porsches, namely, the 992 911 Turbo S, the 991 911 GT2 RS, and the 992 911 GT3. The Turbo S and the GT2 RS have twin turbos, unlike the naturally aspirated GT3, but only the Turbo S had an all-wheel-drive system here. At the time of writing this article, 2021 is almost over and we are all thinking about awesome gifts, whether it’s for ourselves or for our close ones. With this in mind, a strange vehicle has recently come up for sale on eBay – a 2004 Ford Avanti.

The Audi R8 has been a staple when one talks about performance cars. The car comes with a naturally aspirated V-10 that makes us go weak in the knees even today. We are even more emotionally invested in it now because the R8 is about to be electrified and the V-10 engine will be buried forever. The same engine powers the Lamborghini Huracan as well, but the marque is working on developing a twin-turbo V-8 successor for it. But, until the final adieu, Audi will try to milk the machine as much as possible, and the latest updates to it are a testament to that.

The Lotus Emira is billed as the brand’s very last fuel-powered vehicle, marking the end of its gas-powered lineup forever. We knew this was the case early on as right around the time it was launched, the company also told us that the Elise, Exige, and Evora were officially being sent to the guillotine. It was a bittersweet revelation that we all knew was coming but really didn’t think it was going to happen so fast. Since then, and even more so after the launch of the Emira, we’ve all wondered what would happen next. Will there be a successor to any of Lotus’ legacy models? Is the brand’s once most important model – the Elise – really gone forever? Well, now we know that, at the very least, it might not be over for the Elise quite yet.

With 502 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque under the hood and a Nurburgring time improved by 17 seconds when compared to its predecessor, the new 911 GT3 is a car that needs no improvement. But, the guys over at Manthey Racing found a way to further improve the performance of the new 911 GT3 - with absolutely no upgrades made under the hood.
