Christmas day is literally three days away, and if you haven’t set up your Christmas trees yet, then you’re in a lot of trouble. Fortunately, there are ways to get a tree up and standing in your living rooms in no time. You can buy a plastic one in Walmart and set that one up, or you can go to a Lowe’s and get a natural one. If you decide on doing the latter, John Hennessey of Hennessey Performance has a suggestion on how to buy one quickly and transport it at 174 mph.

Just as Christmas is finally ready to descend on our weary but grateful souls, automakers left and right have been on a commercial rampage, touting their models in TVCs with the hope of getting some Youtube love. Mercedes-Benz isn’t immune to such strategies and the company proved as much by releasing the “Silent Night” commercial promoting the C350 e Plug-In Hybrid’s ability to balance its gas engine and electric motor.

The commercial starts off in a snowy landscape, capturing a downtrodden man pulling a recently cut-down Christmas tree. Before any of us can feel bad for the poor dude, the scene immediately shifts to the C 350 e Plug-In Hybrid speeding along and lugging its own tree, while rock music starts blaring. Care to guess where this is going? A few quality angles go by and the hybrid sedan passes a sign that says “Elektra”. Just as quickly, the music stops and the car goes eerily quiet as the lights go up in a surprisingly desolate Christmas village. This is Mercedes’ way of showcasing the aforementioned hybrid technology on the sedan, because as soon as the C 350 e Plug-In Hybrid exits the village, it roars back to life as it speeds past a rock band playing a rock version of “Silent Night”.

It’s not the best car commercial I’ve seen this holiday season, but for the purposes of getting its message across, I’d say that Mercedes accomplished that.

There’s no shortage of upstart automakers that are looking to take Tesla down a peg or two. The latest to do is Drako, a neophyte automaker that has spent the last few years developing its electric supercar, the GTE. Its development has been going on smoothly, at least if you judge it by this video the automaker just released featuring the GTE and, surprise, surprise, the Tesla Model S P100D.

It’s a classic benchmark test from an automaker looking to make a name for itself at the expense of a segment titan. Does the GTE have the goods to take down the Model S P100D? Let’s find out.

California-based startup automaker Alpha made waves a few months ago when it debuted the retro-styled Ace electric coupé. Now the company is back in the news with a new electric vehicle. It’s called the JAX, and it’s described as a “Junior All-terrain Crossover.” Technical details are still unavailable, but Alpha did release a walkaround video of the JAX looking like the Ace on stilts. You can even see the “Ace” badge on the rear section of the JAX. There is no timetable on when the JAX is going to be launched, but Alpha is already taking reservations for the model. Pricing for the JAX is pegged between $38,000 to $48,000.

Just as customers are now receiving their Ferrari F8 Tributos, a new aftermarket program is already available for Maranello’s successor to the 488 GTB. As most have likely guessed correctly, this program comes to us by way of Novitec, the Italian tuner that’s best known for its work on some of Italia’s finest supercars. This new program for the F8 Tributo is a chop off the old block for the German tuner. It’s tricked out with an impressive engine upgrade, a new set of wheels, and improvements to the suspension that should make the F8 more potent on the road and track. The package also comes with an aerodynamic body kit, but as it is with early bird tuning kits, the aforementioned aero kit remains in the oven and will be launched at a later time. Still, it’s hard not to like what Novitec already has on the table for the F8 Tributo. After all, it’s not easy to turn a 700-horsepower supercar into a bonafide spitfire.

There’s a saying in the auto industry that “every new idea is a good idea.” There’s a kernel of truth in that because the best and most popular cars are all born from ideas. But there’s a flip side to that saying, too. Just because every new idea is a good idea, it doesn’t mean that these good ideas end up as good products. Time and again, we’ve seen automakers take a promising concept and lose the plot completely when the production version comes out. Every company has experienced something along these lines, but we’ve singled out ten vehicles that serve as the best examples of highly anticipated cars that turned out to be let-downs. Granted, some of these vehicles had their moments in the sun, but those moments were fleeting. In the end, we all remember them for what they could’ve been. They’re not necessarily lemons, but they still leave a sour taste in our mouths.

The Honda S2000 is one of the most desirable Japanese sports cars of its era. From its attractive looks to its peppy 2.0-liter inline-four cylinder engine that produced as much as 247 horsepower and 161 pound-feet of torque, the S22000 was as desirable as any sports roadster that hit the scene at the turn of the millennium. To this day, interest in the S2000 remains strong, in large part due to the seemingly limitless tuning possibilities it provides. Take this particular S2000, for example. It belongs to Mason Whitlow, an employee of tuning shop Holley, who bought his S2000 in standard form, only to have it upgraded into a complete monster on four wheels. It’s still a Honda S2000 in form, but everything else is entirely different. We’re not talking about a spunky 248-horsepower sports roadster anymore. This S2000 is now a 707-horsepower beast of epic proportions. At the very least, this build is a rolling advertisement, not only of Holley but, more importantly, of the many ways people have grown to love the Honda S2000.

Long before Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May made Top Gear the global phenomenon that it’s become, there was an era of the show that had Clarkson going solo. That era ran from 1988 to 2000 and, believe it or not, Clarkson looked nothing like the pot-bellied, salt-and-pepper-haired, denim jacket-wearing host that we had gotten used to in the second iteration of the show.

Fortunately, Clarkson was as good at his job in the early 90s as he was during his second run at Top Gear with Hammond and May. If you need proof of that, check out this old Top Gear segment from 1993 with Jezza doing a spot-on review of the 1993 Mazda RX-7, Mitsubishi 3000GT, and Jaguar XJS.

British race- and sports-car builder Ginetta attended the 2019 Geneva Motor Show with its latest creation, the Akula. Named after the Russian word that translates to “shark,” the Akula looks every bit like an asphalt predator. The Akula combines an attention-grabbing design with a low-weight carbon-intensive construction and Le Mans-derived performance equipment. That’s an excellent formula for a niche model that’s looking to strike down the titans of its segment. Can the Ginetta Akula do it? We’re going to find out.

BMW has no plans to build shooting brake and Gran Turismo versions of the M4, but that hasn’t stopped digital artist Sugar Design from imagining what they could look like if the German automaker put them to production. Designed with the familiar styling of a coupé with extended hatchback proportions, the M4 Shooting Brake looks like a car that BMW should build. The M4 Gran Turismo, however, looks like what you’d expect to see from the M3 Gran Turismo if that model ends up becoming a real thing.

Koenigsegg is regarded as one of the most revolutionary automakers in the industry. Take the Koenigsegg Agera, for example. Introduced a decade ago, the Agera was, in many ways, a revolutionary supercar that helped Koenigsegg transition from being a niche automaker to a globally renowned automotive purveyor of hellacious speed and performance.

The latest episode of YouTube channel Mr.JWW shines a light on the supercar that made Koenigsegg a household name.

If I were to write about the history of cars, a single chapter wouldn’t be enough to talk about the Japanese car industry’s impact in shaping that history. I’d need a few chapters to properly encapsulate what Japan’s car history means to the larger history of the automotive world. From humble beginnings to global domination, Japan’s car scene has given so much to the auto world. That includes some of the most iconic car models to ever hit the ground. These ten models are classics in the basic sense of the term “classic.” More importantly, these ten models are classics because they’ve earned the right to be called one, whether it’s through sheer popularity or long-lasting impact in the business.

The Maserati MC12 is arguably one of the most underrated supercars of all time. Produced in limited quantities back in 2004 — only 50 were built — the MC12 was a two-seater supercar that Maserati built to comply with homologation requirements so it could enter the FIA GT Championship with a race-spec version of the same car. Sixteen years later, not a lot of people remember the MC12 or even its shared history with the much more famous Ferrari Enzo. Fortunately, Petrolicious’ original series Homologation Specials did not forget about the MC12 and its impact in the supercar world. It doesn’t get as much love and respect as the Enzo, but the MC12 should be remembered better than it has been. It wasn’t the best car to drive, and it was oft-criticized for being too big, but the MC12’s place in the annals of Italian performance cars is secure, or at least it should be.

Owning a supercar guarantees you a certain level of pride and status. Not everyone is lucky enough to afford these six-figure performance machines so when you have one, you have to feel good about yourself.

The rise of bespoke divisions among performance car brands has resulted in a number of one-off supercars being made. Some of these unicorns have turned into the subject of dreams for a lot of people. Some, though, have been forgotten, or, at the very least, set aside in favor of the shiny new releases.

No matter how many cars are built by automakers these days, there’s still no substitute for the kind of purity and authentic love you can have for a project car. This kind of car is the one that you spend hours upon hours, days upon days, and months upon months trying to build.

Project cars are based largely on existing models, but when these models aren’t built or tuned in the manner that you want them to be, you take it upon yourself to do it, rebuilding it to your taste and preference. Some project cars take years to build, and the cost of doing it can go as high as you’re willing to take it. But the results speak for themselves. Project cars are your creations, and they are the most fulfilling ones to drive. They are built according to how you want these cars to look and run. Here’s a list of cars that make great project cars for every gearhead.

Manthey Racing has created a tuning program for the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 that taps into the sports car’s racing genes. The contents of the kit address the body, suspension, and brakes of the 718 Cayman GT4. There are no engine upgrades, though that’s expected given the tuner’s history with past projects, including one for the 911 GT3 RS. Monthly Racing hasn’t announced a price for the 718 Cayman GT4 kit.

AC Schnitzer is back with a new tuning program for the sedan and touring versions of the [BMW 5 Series->art189917. The kit includes aerodynamic enhancements, suspension upgrades, exhaust equipment, a new set of wheels, and engine upgrade programs that help improve the 5 Series’ power output and performance capabilities. Pricing details for the new tuning program have not been revealed.

Opus Automotive was featured in Misha Charoudin’s YouTube channel, and the main subject was the German tuner’s new tuning programs for the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, called the Binary Editions. Two levels of performance upgrades are already available for the range-topping AMG GT, each delivering power figures in the four digits. Opus noted that less powerful kits are also being developed alongside the aerodynamic upgrades and the new set of wheels. Those modifications will be available at a later date.

Toyota is launching a special edition version of the GR Supra called the Jarama Race Track Edition. Named after the Spanish race track where Toyota hosted the official media drive of the GR Supra, the special edition sports coupé is limited to just 90 units, all of which are earmarked for the European market. The Toyota GR Supra Jarama Race Track Edition will be available this spring. Pricing details have not been announced.

Employees of Ferrari typically aren’t allowed to buy their own brand-new Ferraris. The only exception? Formula One drivers, and even they have to pay the full freight costs for their cars. That’s the gospel according to Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Enrico Galliera, who is often referred to within Maranello as the notorious “Dr. No.”

Galliera’s job with Ferrari is a complicated one that involves numerous roles. But what he’s famously known for is his distinction of being the man who decides which person deserves to own a limited-edition Ferrari. In his conversation with Drive, Galliera explained that certain aspects of his job are made difficult by the fact that not everybody can own a Ferrari model even if these people deserve it. “We have much higher demand than the availability,” he explained. “What we do is identify criteria that is rewarding good customers. The limited edition cars we consider a gift to our best customers." Indeed, these so-called “gifts” come in the form of low-volume supercars that Ferrari clients are more than likely to fight for. The most recent example is the LaFerrari Aperta, the convertible version of the LaFerrari hypercar. Galliera said the most difficult part of is job is rejecting established Ferrari customers, some of whom have been loyal fans of the brand. That tells you how strict Galliera and Ferrari are considering that Lee already has more than a dozen Ferraris to his name, including four new ones he ordered just to improve his rating with the company.

YouTube channel ND - Woodworking Art has dropped a video featuring a miniaturized version of the Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta that’s on the receiving end of a paint job that’ll make Maranello proud. The pint-sized LaFerrari Aperta is made out of wood, and it’s the creation of a woodworker who wanted to give his toddler son a memorable Christmas present. The video doesn’t show how the wooden Aperta came to be, but it does show the meticulous process of painting the car to look like a tiny Ferrari.

A digital artist took to Instagram to showcase his rendering of a 10th-generation Lincoln Continental. Abimelec Arellano, who goes by the @abimelecdesign handle on Instagram, created a slammed Continental that features vintage styling twists and all the bells and whistles of a modified luxury sedan.

A rare and provenance-heavy 1974 Porsche 911 RSR is now up for grabs at DuPont Registry for the tidy sum of $2.2 million. The specific 911 RSR is the IROC edition. It was built to race at the 1974 International Race of Champions (IROC), and only 15 examples were made, 12 of which were for drivers and three that served as spare units. This particular model went to Brazilian racing legend Emerson Fittipaldi, hence its nickname “the Fittipaldi Car.” Other prominent individuals have owned this car throughout its life, including John Tunstall, Roger Penske, and, most notably, drug lord Pablo Escobar.

Nine years after its debut, the Huayra is still going strong. The Pagani supercar has been the recipient of countless special edition versions over the years, and recently, Pagani teased a mysterious new model in its Facebook page that points to a new special edition Huayra. We only get a glimpse of the mystery model through a silhouette from the rear, but there’s no mistaking what this model is. This is the Pagani Huayra R.

The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series was hailed as the fastest production car to lap the Nurburgring when it set a lap time of 6:43.61 back in November 2020. A record-setting performance car like the AMG GT Black Series typically doesn’t require performance upgrades, but don’t tell that to Wheelsandmore. The German tuner has prepared a new tuning program for the AMG GT Black Series. The kit includes a new set of wheels, new brakes, and an engine upgrade that adds more power to what is already one of the most potent supercars in the market...

Florida-based dealership Lamborghini Broward has taken delivery of a Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 that was commissioned in collaboration with Lamborghini São Paulo in Brazil. The Sian is dressed in a flamboyant color scheme that transitions from one color to another as it moves through the body. It’s arguably one of the most unique versions of Lamborghini’s first production hybrid supercar that you’ll see. Lamborghini created 63 coupé versions of the Sian and 19 convertible versions. All 82 models have been sold.

With a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine that produces 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is the most powerful and most track-capable Cadillac model the automaker has ever made. The LT4 engine deserves a lion’s share of the credit for that, but if Cadillac really wanted to raise the CT5-V Blackwing’s output figures to full-fledged supercar heights, the 6.2-liter supercharged LT5 engine could have been offered in the CT5-V Blackwing. Caddy ultimately decided against using the LT5 engine, in part because of the myriad of issues that would’ve cut into the appeal of the CT5-V Blackwing.

Porsche has raised its ownership stake in Rimac, going from owning a minority share of 15.5 percent to 24 percent. The deal cost Porsche €70 million, or around $83.2 million based on current exchange rates. This is the third time the German automaker has invested in its Croatian company. Back in 2018, Porsche secured a 10 percent minority stake in Rimac before that share grew to 15.5 percent in 2019. Other automakers have also bought into Rimac, specifically Hyundai and Kia. The two Korean brands invested €80 million, or around $95.1 million, as part of a technical partnership that would give birth to a pair of high-performance electric vehicles.

Coming from a line of Koenigsegg Agera RS models is the one-off Agera RS Naraya. Built to the specs of the owner who commissioned it, the Agera RS Nayara is a work of art on four wheels. It comes with exclusive details that you won’t find on any other Agera RS. That’s an incredible distinction knowing that there Koenigsegg only built 25 examples of the Agera RS. The Koenigsegg Agera RS Naraya is literally a one-of-one.

A McLaren customer has taken delivery of one of the most unique McLaren Sennas you’ll ever see. It’s dressed in exposed carbon fiber body panels and gold accents, a result of exclusive touches added to the supercar by McLaren Special Operations (MSO). McLaren only built 500 units of the Senna, each priced at just over $1 million. With the exclusive handiwork on this car, this particular model costs closer to $1.5 million.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet posted a video to its Facebook page showing what snowplow trucks can do when they work in sync. The mesmerizing footage was taken along the I-75 highway, and it shows seven snowplow trucks trying to clear away all the snow that fell during last month’s winter freeze in the southern states of the United States. It’s a thankless job, but the drivers of these snowplow trucks deserve their roses for their efforts in making affected roads as clean and as safe as possible.

Porsche’s plans to build up the Taycan family could soon include a two-door, a convertible, and a low-slung version of the Cross Turismo. Company boss Stefan Weckbach revealed to Autocar that discussions are currently ongoing within Porsche to add body styles to the Taycan to complement the Taycan sports saloon and the Taycan Cross Turismo. No timetable has been set on when these models will arrive or whether they’re going to be green-lighted in the first place. Porsche has made clear its plans to have an 80 percent electric lineup by 2030.

A red 1995MY McLaren F1 has hit the market. The exceptional supercar comes with a well-documented history, including the distinction of being one of only seven F1 units that were sold brand new in the U.S. It is currently in the hands of ISSIMI, a California-based seller that specializes in peer-to-peer automobile sales. The price of the McLaren F1 isn’t being disclosed. Those who are interested are invited to reach out to the seller.

The Fast and Furious franchise has wrecked a total of 1,487 cars from the first movie of the franchise all the way up to Furious 7. That total does not include all the mangled cars from Fast 8 (Fate of the Furious), Fast 9, and the Hobbs & Shaw spin-off movie. Put those together and the vehicular carnage in the franchise probably exceeds 2,000 cars. That’s a lot of twisted metal spread out over two decade’s worth of Fast and Furious movies.

Cadillac is riding on the success of its Blackwing nameplate with plans to introduce more Blackwing models in the future. The CT4-V and the CT5-V are the only two Caddy models that come with a Blackwing variant. The rest of Cadillac’s lineup consists of SUVs — the XT4, XT5, XT6, and Escalade — and the automaker has already said that an Escalade Blackwing is out of the question. So if there are going to be more Blackwing Caddys it’s likely that those models don’t exist yet.

Ferrari has found itself in surprising company with the likes of Fiat, Citroen, Vauxhall, and Mitsubishi.

According to Google Trends data presented by U.K.-based price comparison website Compare the Market, the Italian supercar marque is one of five car brands that have plunged dramatically in popularity from 2010. Ferrari didn’t come out with the worst result — that distinction goes to Fiat with a 52.2 percent drop in search popularity — but with a 35.3-percent drop, Ferrari ranked 27th out of 30 car brands, sandwiched between Mitsubishi (23.8 percent) and Vauxhall (45 percent).

The Ford GT is one of the most interesting supercars in the market, and it’s not just because of all the things we already know about it. The GT is also loaded with plenty of easter eggs that can only be discovered once an owner takes delivery of the car. Supercar collector Manny Khoshbin recently received his GT Heritage Edition, and the first thing he did with it was create a walkaround video with a Ford delivery specialist to learn all of the GT’s secrets.

AC Schnitzer has released its new tuning program for the G22-generation of the BMW 4 Series Coupe. A slew of aerodynamic panels is part of the new tuning package. When installed, they make the 4 Series look sportier and more aggressive-looking than it already is. Engine upgrade programs are also available for the 420i, 430i, and M440i xDrive variants of the 4 Series. No word yet on pricing, but the cost will depend on the kind of upgrades that you get for your 4 Series Coupe.

Novitec is back with a new tuning program, this time for Rolls-Royce’s monolithic SUV, the Cullinan.

The tuning kit is a typical program for the German tuner. It comes with aerodynamic add-ons to go with a modified engine, a new exhaust, and a new set of wheels. The Cullinan looks more aggressive than before, but you have to wonder if "aggression" is part of what makes a Rolls-Royce. Pricing details were not revealed; the cost will depend on what upgrades you include in your cart.

Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias is known far and wide as a great comedian, but he’s also established himself as a connoisseur of all things related to Volkswagen’s iconic Bus. The 44-year-old comedian owns a collection of classic VW Bus models amounting to $3 million. He keeps them in his personal museum, which was designed to carry a passing resemblance to Volkswagen’s production facility in Wolfsburg, Germany.

The next Need for Speed game will not be released until the latter part of 2022 — at the earliest. That douses any hopes that the game would still come out in its original 2021 schedule. But that’s not happening anymore, and the reason is the new Battlefield video game. According to reports, Electronic Arts has directed Criterion Games to pause the development of the new Need for Speed game so that it could help fellow E.A. subsidiary DICE in finishing the new Battlefield title.

Lamborghini has started the development of the Urus Evo as spy photos of a camouflaged prototype have started to come into circulation. The prototype was seen testing in the snow alongside a current version of the Urus. A handful of changes are expected in the Urus Evo, regarded as an updated version of the super SUV that Lamborghini launched in 2018. The testing phase is still in the early stages so don’t expect the Urus Evo to debut at least until the latter part of 2021 or well into 2022.

The Petersen Automotive Museum is home to a lot of the most famous vehicles in history. One model, in particular, was the recent subject of a video hosted by the museum’s chief historian, Leslie Kendall. It’s an armored 1942 Lincoln Zephyr that happened to be the presidential ride of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd president of the United States of America.

U.S. brick filmmaker Augustus Danko is such a big fan of LEGOs and the Top Gun movie that he decided to marry his two loves and create an incredible fan-made trailer of the upcoming blockbuster movie using only LEGO bricks. The two-and-a-half-minute trailer faithfully recreates the first Top Gun: Maverick trailer starring Tom Cruise right down to the smallest of details. The trailer took five months to complete and it features 3,240 frames. Danko even enlisted the help of other LEGO builders and animators to help bring his project to life. After all that work, this LEGO trailer of the new Top Gun movie looks every bit as incredible as the real one.

A digital artist has created a modernized rendering of the Renault Espace F1, and it’s got us itching for one. The rendering is based on the concept model that Renault unveiled at the 1994 Paris Motor Show to celebrate the nameplate’s 10th anniversary and the French automaker’s involvement in Formula One. Nothing came out of the Espace F1, but 27 years later, it’s still fondly remembered as one of the gnarliest minivan concept vehicles ever showcased at an auto show.

Ferrari is returning to the top flight of endurance racing beginning in 2023. The Italian automaker made the announcement, confirming plans to line up in the ‘Hypercar’ class of the FIA World Endurance Championship. It will be the first time since 1973 that Ferrari will be competing for outright victory in the WEC. The automaker’s return to endurance racing also puts an end to what would be a 50-year absence in the Le Mans 24 Hours, a race that Ferrari has won nine times, including six straight wins from 1960 to 1965.

McLaren promised to roll out a mid-engined grand tourer, and when McLaren makes a promise, you know it’s going to deliver. It didn’t take long for the British supercar brand to come through on its word because the McLaren GT is here, and it looks every bit like the performance grand tourer the folks over at Woking, England said it would be. Classifications notwithstanding, the GT is more potent than the 570GT and more practical than the 650S. It’s also as light as a feather, at least when you compare it to other grand tourers of its ilk. Combine its weight with its power and performance capabilities, and McLaren could be onto something when it described the GT as a superlight supercar with perception-altering potential.

Automakers, in general, often make decisions that change the course of their respective histories. We don’t often see these decisions in public, but every so often, concept cars play the role of avatars, giving us a peek at what could’ve been had a specific automaker decided to greenlight some of these concepts. There’s a laundry list of concept cars that never made it to production — and probably altered the history of some brands — but we’re here to shine the spotlight on one particular concept that could’ve altered the trajectory of the automaker that developed it. This is the Nissan Mid4, an experimental sports car that Nissan developed in the mid-1980s to compete against the Ferraris and Porsches of that era. Two concepts were introduced, but neither made it to production, leaving everyone with a big bowl of “what if” on their hands. What if Nissan launched the Mid4 as intended? What would the automaker look like now? We’ll never know the answers to these questions, but, rest assured, Nissan wouldn’t be the Nissan that we known now if the Mid4 came to life.

Wisconsin-based custom car builder Ringbrothers has unveiled its newest restomod: a 1968 Mercury Cougar that’s affectionately been dubbed the “Coyogar.” The all-encompassing restoration includes a lot of the typical modifications and upgrades you’d expect from a Ringbrothers project. Co-owners Jim and Mike Ring even sourced a Ford 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 engine from a Ford F-150 Raptor for the build. The finished product is more toned down than previous Ringbrothers projects, but it’s still easily identifiable as a Ringbrothers project that combines classic looks with a modern technical side.

Despite having been delayed from its original 2022 launch, the Aston Martin Valhalla is still coming. There is, however, a good chance that the Valhalla will arrive in a different form from what Aston Martin originally intended. At the heart of the possible changes is Aston’s brand new 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine, which may not end up in the Valhalla as intended. Instead, the mid-engined supercar will likely be equipped with a Mercedes-AMG powertrain that Aston Martin now has access to as part of a new technical partnership between the two brands. The revised Aston Martin Valhalla is now scheduled to arrive in 2023.

Gunther Werks’ remastered 993-generation Porsche 911 now has a drop-top sibling. The new model, called the 993 Speedster Remastered, is the latest bespoke creation from the California-based tuning firm. It’s more powerful than its coupe counterpart, and with the roof get lopped off, it also looks like a true speedster. Only 25 units of the 993 Speedster Remastered will be built. There’s no word yet on pricing, but with the coupe version fetching $565,000, expect the speedster to carry a price that’s closer to $600,000.

Cyan Racing’s Volvo P1800 is a stunning resto-mod that’s capable of turning snow-covered roads into its personal playground. The Swedish racing outfit brought the P1800 to Åre, a small town north of Volvo’s headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden for some fun runs in sub-zero temperatures.

Sending a car that weighs under 2,200 but packs 420 horsepower on less-than-stellar roads might sound dangerous for some, but it also could be a fun experience for those who know how to drive the P1800 in these conditions.

Matt Farah has a car storage facility that you wouldn’t believe. Known largely for his YouTube channel, The Smoking Tire, Farah opened the Westside Collector Car Storage for car owners in the Los Angeles area who don’t have enough room for their beautiful rides in their personal driveways. The facility is a first-class parking garage that can house anything from cars, motorcycles, boats, and even snowmobiles. It also features state-of-the-art amenities that ensure that those prized vehicles are well taken care of.

Gordon Murray Automotive has revealed the track version of the McLaren F1-inspired T.50 supercar. It’s called the GMA T.50s Niki Lauda, named after the three-time F1 world champion. GMA developed the T.50s Niki Lauda with the goal of turning it into the be-all and end-all for a track car. It comes with a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated V-12 engine that produces 89 fewer horsepower than the McLaren Senna GTR, but weighs 30 percent lighter and generates 50 percent more downforce than the McLaren track car. GMA plans to build only 25 units of the T.50s Niki Lauda. Each unit is priced at $4.3 million, and production is set to begin at the end of 2021.

Frank Stephenson has created a new mini-series in his YouTube channel detailing the concept vehicles that changed the automotive industry. In the pilot episode, the world-famous car designer discussed three major concept cars from the past: the Alfa Romeo BAT, the Ford Probe 3, and the BMW 02 Reminiscence.

The Volkswagen Group could be on the verge of selling Bugatti to Rimac. A report from German weekly Automobilewoche quoted Porsche CEO and Volkswagen AG management board member Oliver Blume hinting that a decision on the blockbuster sale could happen by the middle of 2021.

Two years after discontinuing the Plus 8, Morgan is bringing the retro-styled sports car back through a limited edition set called the Plus 8 GTR. The special edition model is the first in a line of special projects that Morgan plans to release this year. Only nine units of the Plus 8 GTR will be built with production scheduled to begin this summer. Pricing for the model and a delivery timetable will be announced at a later date.

Concept cars are often the result of an automaker’s desire to showcase possibilities. Very rarely, though, do these possibilities translate to reality. Some concepts get used as springboards for future production models. Some get used as blueprints for future technologies. But more often than not, a lot of concept cars get sent back to the shadows, never to be heard from again. It’s a shame because the concept cars on this list didn’t deserve that fates they received. These concepts should’ve been turned into production models. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, none of them did, and all we’re left with our thoughts of what could’ve been.

Sometimes, the best drag races are those that have some form of handicap. Take this race hosted by YouTube channel Track Day, for example. It’s a three-car throw down involving an F80-generation BMW M3 Competition, a 992-generation Porsche 911 Carrera S, and a BMW M240i. The latter is the obvious underdog in this race, but this isn’t your stock M240i that comes into the race with significant modifications, none more important than an engine upgrade that helps the turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine produce more output than both the M3 Competition and the 911 Carrera S. The Ferrari SF90 Stradale puts a lot of supercars in their place with its blistering pace, but the quickness that it can to go from point A to point B is something that a lot of people have to see for themselves.

Brooks Weisblat from Dragtimes provided that opportunity when he got a chance to drive an SF90 in the streets of Puerto Rico. That’s where Ferrari’s new hybrid-supercar proved its worth, clocking a 0-to-60-mph time of just 2.35 seconds and hitting a quarter-mile in 9.62 seconds at 146 mph.

A multi-million dollar car collection hardly counts as “dumb” in our world, but let’s indulge Tyler Hoover of the Hoovies Garage YouTube channel for a change. In this video, Hoover takes us on a tour of his car garage, where you’ll see an eclectic mix of vehicles, including a 1985 Mercedes 500 SL, a purple 996-generation Porsche 911, and a Bentley Azure that was once owned by Jean-Claude Van Damme. Hoover does a great job in telling the respective histories of the cars he owns, and the entire collection is more interesting than it is dumb.

There are people who aren’t satisfied with just a Huracan Evo; they want more or at the very least, something that’ll serve as a physical manifestation of their status. The drive to be different is the reason the Lamborghini Huracan Evo Aperta exists. It’s a one-off, Huracan Evo-based creation that’s without a roof, windows, or a windshield. It also has a V-10 engine with more power than the Huracan Evo’s “standard” V-10 unit. In other words, it’s a Lamborghini Huracan Evo unlike any other, or as some people like to say, “it’s a one-of-a-kind, roofless monster on four wheels.”

A one-off McLaren Senna that’s been customized by McLaren Special Operations is up for auction on Bring A Trailer. The unit, number 401 of the 500 Sennas made, is unique for several reasons, none more significant than the “Merlin” name it’s been bestowed. The one-of-a-kind Senna “Merlin” currently has a bid of $900,000 with eight days left in the auction.

Rumors abound surrounding Ferrari’s new hybrid offering, codenamed the F171. The latest comes by way of Car Magazine, which claims through an unconfirmed report that the new V-6-powered hybrid Ferrari will have a combined output approaching 700 horsepower, including 110 horsepower coming from the electric motor. The new hybrid supercar is also rumored to be called the Ferrari 486.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz EQC launch date in the U.S. has been pushed back yet again after what the German automaker described as a “comprehensive review of market developments.” The all-electric SUV was originally scheduled to arrive in the U.S. in early 2020, but Mercedes pushed back deliveries of the model by a year to early 2021. Now, it looks like we’re not going to see the EQC anytime soon.

The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California has released a full virtual tour of its entire museum. The video stars the museum’s deputy director Michael Bodell, who over the course of two hours, takes you through the entire building, starting on the third floor with a new exhibit that hasn’t been seen by the public to the vault where some of the rarest and most prestigious cars in the museum are located. The museum has been closed since July 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, so if you haven’t been to the Petersen yet, leave two hours of your schedule open and watch this incredible virtual tour.

A rare 1997 Ascari Ecosse is up for auction at RM Sotheby’s. Based on the mid-engine Ascari FGT Concept that was unveiled at the 1995 British Motor Show, the Ecosse is arguably one of the rarest and least-known supercars from the 1990s. It’s currently listed at a fixed price of €165,000. That converts to around $200,000 based on current exchange rates.

The McLaren Artura is here, and with it comes a lot of firsts for McLaren. It’s the first plug-in hybrid McLaren, even though it counts as McLaren’s third hybrid model behind the P1 and the Speedtail. It’s also the first McLaren to use the freshly developed 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine, put in place of the bigger and heavier 3.8-liter V-8 unit that McLaren has used for its Sports Series models in recent years.

The Artura is also the first McLaren hybrid supercar that’s built on the automaker’s new MCLA platform. It’s the same architecture the British automaker developed to accommodate electrified powertrains. The Artura’s arrival sets the stage for McLaren’s electrified future that now looks a lot more compelling.

Koenigsegg is celebrating Valentine’s Day in style. The hypercar purveyor rolled out the mighty Regera on a snow-covered airstrip at its factory in Angelholm, Sweden for some recreational fun. Rare is the day when you see Koenigsegg’s $1.9 million hypercar let its hair down. But it’s the day of love, and Koenigsegg wants to celebrate it with all of us through this video of the Regera that’s having the time of its life in the snow.

Carwow has dropped a new drag race, and it’s between two performance vehicles that offer contrasting styles of driving pleasure. In the blue corner is the sublime 992-generation Porsche 911 Turbo S. In the red corner is the guttural Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. The latter isn’t available in the U.K, but host Mat Watson managed to get his hands on one courtesy of British car importer CS Panda. So with the Demon in tow, Watson challenged Yianni Charalambous and his 992-gen Porsche 911 Turbo S to a race that didn’t turn into much of one.

Bugatti has created a new one-off Chiron Sport for a customer who ordered the car as a gift to his wife for Valentine’s Day. The tailor-made Chiron, called “Alice,” was ordered through the H.R. Owen Bugatti dealership in England. It’s dressed in a unique two-tone bespoke finish, including one color that Bugatti admits it hasn’t used before. As far as Valentine’s Day gifts are concerned, this Bugatti Chiron Sport is pretty hard to top.

Jay Leno saved a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette restomod from getting hit by a wayward Lexus IS300 that musician Rick Springfield forgot to put in park.

The 70-year-old comedian and the 1980s rockstar were filming an episode of Leno’s CNBC series Jay Leno’s Garage when the mishap happened. The scene could’ve ended a lot worse for the two celebrities and their precious rides, but thanks to Leno’s quick reaction, disaster was definitely averted.

For the second time in less than a year, Mansory is dropping jaws to the floor with a new iteration of its Le Mansory program for the Ford GT. The German tuner is known for its over-the-top cosmetic upgrades, and, once again, it lived up to the billing. The second Ford GT Le Mansory packs the same design changes as the first model, albeit dressed in a new red and black colorway. Mansory has said that it plans to build three units of the GT Le Mansory. With this being the second of those three units, the third and final model should be just as wild.

Porsche has been in the habit of setting records recently, and it’s added another one to its name. Unbroken and unsurpassed since 2013, the Guinness World Record title for the fastest indoor land speed record has sat on the shelf of Tanner Foust, who clocked in a record speed of 86 mph back in 2013. That record has now gone by the wayside, thanks to Porsche and professional racer Leh Keen. Driving a Taycan Turbo S, Keen hit a top speed of 102.6 mph, eviscerating the previous record by more than 16 mph. As if owning the Guinness World Record for longest drift by an electric car — 210 laps — wasn’t enough, the record-breaking Taycan has another one in the bag.

Ford Performance, in collaboration with Ford GT manufacturer Multimatic, has released the first Ford GT Studio Collection model, and it is a stunner. Dressed in a black paint finish with an orange racing stripe and matching accents all around, this Ford GT is the first of 40 Studio Collection variants that Ford will build over the next two years of the supercar’s production. A total of 20 units will be unveiled this year, and each unit will have an exclusive look that highlights the highly personalized nature of the Ford supercar. The Blue Oval hasn’t revealed how much each model of the Ford GT Studio Collection costs, but given the exclusivity of each unit, don’t be surprised if the cost of owning one far exceeds the GT’s $500,000 sticker price.

Don’t look now, but a collaboration between Halo and Tesla could be more than just a pipe dream. The potential partnership received a shot in the arm after Microsoft Xbox executive Aaron Greenberg took to Twitter to respond to Tesla big boss Elon Musk admitting that Halo is the only console game he’s ever played.

Despite calls from a lot of people to infuse old design elements from the past in its future models, BMW isn’t keen on taking that approach. BMW’s design chief, Adrian van Hooydonk, made that definitively clear in a conversation with Top Gear. The 56-year-old Dutch designer admitted that while BMW does go through the designs of some of its past models going full retro with the designs of its newer models isn’t on the company’s radar.

There are car crashes, physics-defying action sequences, and enough mentions of “family” to make you wonder how far the franchise has come since the first movie hit theaters 20 years ago. The movie’s release has been delayed numerous times — blame the pandemic for that — but it is scheduled to release on May 28. Cross your fingers it doesn’t get pushed back again.

In the 100-plus years that it’s been around, Chevy has developed a lot of popular models, including the Camaro and Corvette nameplates. But look back on the Bow Tie’s history and you’ll see that it’s also filled with forgotten models and rare exclusives that not a lot of people today know existed. Some of these models were one-off creations that have become holy grails while others were short-lived flops that Chevy probably prefers to be kept under the rug. Either way, all these models have interesting stories to tell.

The McLaren 765LT might be more powerful than McLaren’s letting on. YouTube channel DragTimes hooked a 765LT up to a dyno to see how much power the supercar produced at the wheels. The 765LT was subjected to three runs, and all three runs came back with power figures that were well beyond what we thought and what McLaren announced. The dyno tests don’t change the fact that the 765LT is an absolute monster, but it’s apparently a bigger and meaner monster than we expected.

Porsche and TAG Heuer have collaborated in the past in various capacities, but the two brands have never formalized that partnership until now. Porsche and TAG Heuer are now official strategic partners, and to consummate the marriage, the two are launching the delightful — and expensive — TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph.

Inspired by the “Carrera” name that both brands have used since the onset of their histories, two versions of the Carrera Porsche Chronograph are available.

Instead of touting its new products, Toyota is taking a different approach with its Super Bowl LV commercial. The automaker is releasing a 60-second commercial, called Upstream, and featuring Jessica Long, an American swimmer who is the most decorated Paralympians in U.S. history. The ad touches on Long’s incredible journey from when she was adopted by an American couple from an orphanage in Siberia despite a rare medical condition that resulted in her legs getting amputated to becoming one of the greatest paralympic swimmers in history.

General Motors has released its commercial for Super Bowl LV. The 90-second ad stars Will Ferrell, Kenan Thompson, and Awkwafina. In it, Ferrell apparently has a big problem with Norway’s high per-capita ownership of electric vehicles and enlists the help of Thompson and Awkwafina to put the Scandinavian country in its place for being a strong EV market.

The ad also stars two of General Motors’ most high-profile EVs, the Cadillac Lyriq and the GMC Hummer EV. A 60-second version of the commercial will air during the first quarter of the Big Game.

The Mercedes-AMG Project One has been in the works for the better part of three years, and now that the final production model is close to completion — customer deliveries are expected to start later this year — Mercedes-AMG is just as quick to remind everyone that the Project One, or just ONE, as it will eventually be called, is a car without a rival.

To hammer that point home, the automaker released a 43-second clip showing the ONE in its now-familiar red and silver livery terrorizing a race track as many expect it could.

Gran Turismo 7 will release on the PlayStation 5 later this year, and those who are eagerly awaiting the game’s arrival will be in for a treat. The game’s head designer, Kazunori Yamaguchi, recently spoke with Japanese magazine Octane and indicated that GT7 will return to earlier form with a full volume of features that became the defining traits of the older Gran Turismo titles. Realistic graphics and extensive car collections, in particular, were foundational pieces of earlier GT titles, but with GT Sport focusing more on interactive racing elements, realism took a back seat to the racing experience. The folks behind the development of GT 7 now plan to marry those worlds together to create what we hope will be the best Gran Turismo game ever.

G-Power has unveiled a new tuning program for the BMW M8 Gran Coupe, and it is a doozy. Three different engine upgrades await owners of the mighty M8 Gran Coupe. The most potent upgrade involves significant modifications to the Bimmer’s 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged engine, resulting in an increased output of 808 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. The German tuner’s new kit also comes with aesthetic and aerodynamic changes, as well as the option for a new set of wheels.

A high-riding Porsche 911 prototype was recently seen gallivanting around the streets of Germany, adding fuel to the fire that the German automaker might offer a 911 Safari. Back in 2008, Ferrari launched its One-Off personalization program to a lot of fanfare at that year’s Geneva Motor Show. The goal was to give Maranello’s most important clients the opportunity to create their own Ferraris. It’s been over a decade since that announcement, and it’s safe to say that Ferrari’s program has become a resounding success. Every year, a number of one-off Ferraris enter our lives, commissioned by an individual who Ferrari deems as one of its VIPs. Models like the 2012 Ferrari SP Arya, 2014 Ferrari SP FFX, and 2018 Ferrari SP38 Deborah have been built. Each of these one-offs is unique from every other Ferrari in existence, largely because they came to life as a result of someone’s vision for his or her perfect Ferrari. The 2019 Ferrari P80/C is the latest one-off Ferrari to arrive, but given the success Ferrari has had with the program and the growing demand among customers to get their own “1of1s” — there’s a five-year waitlist, in case you qualify — the P80/C won’t be the last one-off Ferrari in the world. On the contrary, this first ten years of the whole program could be just the beginning of what will most likely turn into one of Ferrari’s most successful customer-centric programs in its long and illustrious history. The auto and aviation worlds have, in the past, intersected in various ways. The SSC Tuatara’s claim as the fastest production car in the world appears to finally have some legitimacy to it after the American hypercar clocked a record-setting, two-way average speed of 282.6 mph at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds that’s located on the premises of the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The new attempt at the top speed record comes a few months after SSC came under heavy scrutiny for claiming that the Tuatara had reached a top speed of 331.1 mph. Inconsistencies with the videos that SSC released to the media led to people questioning the validity of SSC’s claims, to which the automaker responded by saying that it would attempt another record run. Well, that record run has happened, and unless SSC makes another monumental snafu in verifying the validity of this new record run, it does appear that the Tuatara hypercar is now the fastest production car in the world.

Remember those rumors late last year that Hyundai was planning to release a 300-horsepower Tucson N Line? Well, you can put those rumors to bed. Hyundai has released the Tucson N Line, except that the 300-horsepower engine we expected to see in the Tucson N Line is nowhere to be found. Instead, eager beaver customers will get aesthetic upgrades and, well, that’s about it.

The Tucson N Line still looks like a saucy crossover with more sporty bits to show off, but if you were expecting those rumors to come to fruition, we regret to inform you that those seeds bore no fruit.
