There are certain cars of the past that deserve to have a modern-day successor. Apparently, a designer that goes by the name of rob3rtdesign is of the same mind, as he has decided to take the Brazil-only Volkswagen SP2 and turn it into something that looks like an epic side project, made by RUF or Singer.

Recently unveiled by Volkswagen, The I.D. LIFE Concept is said to be the company’s first “people’s car” as an EV. The IAA 2021 in Munich has opened eyes around the world as there were quite a lot of unique cars, especially EVs. This compact crossover-type concept looks sick with unique design language both in exterior and interior and has quite a few interesting facts about it. Here’s a quick review as to what has been disclosed by Volkswagen in simpler words.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI is a hot hatch and has been around the block for quite some time now. Although the company is gearing up for the 2022 Golf GTI, it has decided to look back and pay homage to the yesteryear Golf model – the 1984 GTI, to be specific – by fusing it with the latest generation. Volkswagen has teamed up with Philadelphia-based VW enthusiast Jamie Orr and created a concept that combines the best of the present and the past.

Volkswagen noted that the inspiration for this concept was an enthusiast-built Mk2 version of the GTI, which supplanted the only U.S.-built generation of the GTI in 1984. The goal was to highlight what has made the GTI special through the years.

The car retains the same stock drivetrain and as it is the most powerful Golf GTI ever. Even the interior was left as it is. For the retro touches on the exterior, Orr and his team decided to swap the wheels with a set of 19-inch BBS Super RS shoes that feature the iconic BBS waffle and hex pattern. They were shod in Delinte 235/35 D7 rubber.

The highlight, however, was the BBS retro red and black vintage livery with pinstriping running from all across the body. The car was even lowered, courtesy of H&R coilovers. The Borla exhaust from the Mk8 was retained as Orr was happy with it. Overall, this is a sweet build that mixes the retro touches on the new Golf GTI.

Every now and then, Volkswagen releases a random concept that showcases aftermarket mods and the potential of said model in the hands of someone willing to make some mods. Cars like the Volkswagen Golf GTE HyRacer showed us what was possible with the Golf while the Jetta GLI concept most likely gave birth to a few stunning blue Jettas on the road. There was also the Tiguan SE R-Line Black Rino Concept that somehow blended functionality with a low-rider stance. Now, Volkswagen is growing its enthusiast fleet again with the Arteon Big Sur concept.

The Volkswagen Golf has been a mainstay in VW’s lineup since the Mk1 was introduced way back in 1974. Over nearly 50 years of history the Golf hasn’t changed a lot. Sure the body has changed, and the technology has be drastically improved as you’d expect, but it’s followed the same general recipe over all these years – it’s a compact hatchback (and wagon) that can be both economical and fun, the latter of which being true if you find yourself behind the wheel of a Golf GTi or Golf R. No Golf that VW has sold to the public even comes close to the level of cool that’s exuded by the car you see here: a mid-engined Golf GTI with the heart of a Bentley Continental GT. You want the definition of hot hatch? Well, this is it.

Volkswagen has a plan to slap its EV performance badge – aka GTX – on every single model in its electric fleet. This means that everything from compact cars to sedans and SUVs will all be offered with a higher level performance in their top trims. Thanks to Volkswagen’s CEO, Ralf Brandstätter, we might know what the brand’s first hot hatch will be, and it’s not what you’re thinking….or maybe it is.

Volkswagen will be in attendance at the 2019 SEMA Auto Show, and it’s bringing with it a host of tricked-out SUVs that are built for the American outdoors. Arguably the coolest of these concepts is the Atlas Adventure Concept. It looks the part of an SUV that can handle itself in the Nevada desert with the kind of ease you won’t see from a lot of SUVs offered at SEMA. It comes with a menu of unique equipment, including a clever housing accommodation setup that should make it comfortable for you and yours to enjoy a good night’s sleep under the stars. The Volkswagen Atlas Adventure Concept is one of three Atlas concepts that will be on display at Volkswagen’s booth in the world’s biggest aftermarket auto show.

It’s not the lineup we can expect, but Volkswagen’s growing family of I.D. concepts welcomed its newest member to the fold at Auto Shanghai 2019. The new model, called the I.D. Roomzz Concept, is yet another concept crossover that previews a production model that’s scheduled to hit the Chinese market sometime in 2020. If VW’s grand EV plans come to fruition — the German automaker is putting up almost $35 billion in investments to its EV cause — the production version of the I.D. Rooms Concept would follow the all-electric hatchback and all-electric crossover that Volkswagen already has in the pipeline. Testing of the hatchback model, called the ID.3, is now in full swing after a series of videos previewing the model’s Launch Edition leaked online. The budding excitement surrounding the ID.3’s coming launch shouldn’t take away from the potential of the I.D. Roomzz Concept, especially with what this concept brings to the table.

Volkswagen just showed off the SUV Coupe Concept at the 2019 Shanghai auto show, a coupe-like version of the China-only Tayron SUV. The automaker calls it a concept, but we already know it will go into production by the end of the year, so it’s more of a pre-production prototype, really.

Volkswagen has made the trip to China, and it brought with it five SUVs that are on display at Auto Shanghai 2019. One of those SUVs is called the Teramont X, and if you recognize it, then you’re not alone. The new five-seater goes by a different name, but we in the U.S. know it as the five-seater version of the Atlas SUV. It’ll go by the Teramont X name in China, though, just as it will in other markets like Mexico, Russia, and the Middle East. Regardless of its name, the SUV’s arrival in the Chinese market is another clear indication of Volkswagen’s goal to flood the global car market with as many crossovers and SUVs as it can. The strategy has proven to be successful, so why fix something that isn’t broken, right?

Still upset that Volkswagen won’t sell the Amarok truck in the United States? Well, get ready to see yet another VW truck that you won’t be able to buy in the U.S. The Germans are bringing the Tarok to the New York Auto Show only to show you what the South American market will get soon. Just a concept for now, the Tarok will become a production model in 2020.

As a relative newcomer to the mid-size, seven-seater SUV fold, the Volkswagen Atlas is still getting its feet wet in the segment. Soon enough, though, the Atlas could become more than just a run-to-the-grocery hauler as Volkswagen is set to unveil the Atlas Basecamp Concept at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. The Atlas Basecamp is a trail-ready concept that’s kitted with all sorts of accessories to showcase its understated versatility. The standard Atlas has the makings of a popular SUV, but it’s not as equipped for the outdoors as most people would like it to be. The Atlas Basecamp is an answer to that. It’s unlikely to hit dealerships soon, but its presence in New York next week is a step in the right direction for the SUV’s evolving identity.

Volkswagen launched yet another I.D. series model at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. Called the I.D. Roomzz, it joins six other I.D. show cars that Volkswagen introduced over the past three years. A crossover by design, I.D. Roomzz previews a production model that will be introduced in China in 2021.

After having a bit of a laugh by unveiling the I.D. Buggy Concept at the 2019 Geneva Auto Show, Volkswagen is back with a more serious discourse as it announces a new concept that will be unveiled at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. The German automaker is talking about the I.D. Roomzz, a crossover SUV with an innovative cabin layout that will arrive on the Chinese market by 2021.

When Volkswagen first announced that it will quite literally bombard the EV segment with a cacophony of models of all shapes and sizes in the next decade, I genuinely thought the German giant was a bit over ambitious in the wake of the still-relevant Dieselgate scandal. The company based in Wolfsburg claimed that 70 models are in the pipeline and, in the past couple of years, we’ve been periodically greeted by new concepts that preview production models from the I.D. family. Now, as we’re edging closer to the launch of the first production-ready I.D. model, the I.D. Hatch, Volkswagen is preparing another concept for the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show, one that’s become impossible to ignore by the big players in the car-building world.

The Volkswagen I.D. Buggy is a concept car that draws inspiration from the iconic dune buggies of the 1960s. A fully electric vehicle built on Volkswagen’s new MEB modular platform, the I.D. Buggy is part of the company’s I.D. series of vehicles that includes six concept cars as of 2019. Unlike some of its siblings though, the I.D. Buggy won’t make it into production.

Having used the I.D. series to develop a modern successor to the iconic VW Bus, the German firm also created a modern interpretation of the classic dune buggy. The latter became known in the 1960s, when some privateers from California, most notably Bruce Meyers, converted rear-engined Volkswagen Beetles into roofless and doorless recreational vehicles for use on sand dunes and beaches. The I.D. Buggy pays tribute to its spiritual predecessor in both design and functionality, but it adds an electric drivetrain into the mix.

The term beach buggy may be somewhat generic, yet it actually refers to

based buggies that exploded in popularity in the 1960s. Now VW wants to revive that sun-loving spirit with its new two-seater ID Buggy Concept that was just revealed at the 2019 Geneva motor show.

In an unprecedented invasion of performance SUVs, the Volkswagen Group introduced yet another performance crossover - the Volkswagen T-Roc R. It is basically a buffed up version of the highly sought after subcompact crossover T-Roc. Digging a bit deeper one can find a whole lot of the Golf R under its subtle body. And, that is a good thing. As for now, the Volkswagen T-Roc R is a near-production concept car. Yet, as is the case with the Cupra Formentor Concept, I believe it will be greenlighted for production in a few months following the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show.

The T-Roc R joins a quite astounding lineup of performance crossovers that include the Cupra Ateca, the Cupra Formentor Concept, the Skoda Kodiaq RS, the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line with 240 horsepower engine, the Audi RSQ3, and the Audi SQ5 TDI.

Obviously, I included here almost all performance SUVs regardless of the power output. They do target similar customers. Do you really think someone in love with the Formentor does not dream bigger - like about the SQ5? Of course they do.

Obviously, Volkswagen is big on giving the drivers what they really want, and although it came to the SUV/Crossover party a bit late with the T-Roc, it definitely moved in the right direction with the hot one.

Fifty years after the Beach Buggy took the U.S. by storm, Volkswagen is reaching back into its retro vault to introduce a new buggy concept at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The new concept will sit on VW’s Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB) platform and will carry the identity of an all-electric dune hopper. Specific details are still scant at the moment, but if anything, the new concept is the perfect shot in the arm for those who have been waiting for a new buggy to come out of Volkswagen in the last five decades. The yet-to-be-named concept — for now, Klaus Bischoff, Head Designer at Volkswagen, calls it the “e-buggy” — will make its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show this coming March.

Volkswagen wants to start selling a pickup smaller than the Amarok which it plans to call Tarok and which is previewed by this very close to production concept it revealed at 2018 Sao Paulo International Motor Show in Brazil.

The vehicle revealed in Sao Paulo is nearly identical to the production model it previews, and we really expect VW to only operate major changes to the front fascia in its transition from study to series production.

Judging by the fact that its interior is identical to that of the VW Tharu, a China-only SUV related to the Skoda Karoq and Seat Ateca, it’s pretty clear the project is already in the advanced stages of development - there is nothing even remotely concept car-like about the way it looks inside.

The plan is to reportedly just sell it in Brazil, where it would sit below the Amarok in the company’s pickup hierarchy. On the local market, it’d rival models from Fiat and Renault; no plans have been announced to sell it outside Brazil yet, but it seems unlikely VW won’t try to push it in other markets as well.

Volkswagen is bringing three Jetta sedans at the 2018 SEMA Auto Show. The flashiest of the three is the Air Design USA Jetta SEL, which takes its cues from all the accessories that Air Design offered for the sedan that was the rage back in the 1980s and 90s. The program is a perfect call back to those times, especially with the arrival of the A7 generation of the Jetta. The Volkswagen Air Design USA Jetta SEL takes its place at the SEMA Auto Show alongside H&R Special Springs Jetta R-Line and the decked out Jetta S by Jamie Orr.

Well known Volkswagen enthusiast Jamie Orr thought of a fantastic project with Volkswagen of America - to build an awesome custom Volkswagen Jetta S in six weeks’ time and present it at this year’s SEMA. With the photos of his astounding Jetta bathing the fields of social networks all around the world, I am here to tell you about the tiresome, but fun six-week voyage Orr had to take to finish this project. Right now, the White Silver Jetta S is exposed at the SEMA Motor Show, and it showcases a wide array of aftermarket parts. Orr was directly involved with the development of these parts as they basically did not exist six weeks ago. Not in their physical form, not as 3D rendering pieces on a PC, or even as ideas. Well, right now, they garnish the exterior of possibly the best car Volkswagen showcased at SEMA this year. This all-involving project was focused on crafting aftermarket pieces from the ground up.

H&R Special Springs has been in the business of sports springs and dampers for decades and, from time to time, they bring a car to the SEMA Show as a moving display of their latest performance parts. This time, the Jetta R-Line received the H&R treatment, and it looks quite tasty.

The R-line sits in the middle of the current Jetta lineup with an MSRP of $22,945. It’s, as such, a budget commuter, but that doesn’t mean it forgoes build quality and performance. The seventh-generation compact sedan was chosen by three tuners as the starting point for their 2018 SEMA Show projects, one of them being H&R.

"Straight from the factory, the seventh-generation Jetta’s bold new design grabs people’s attention," said Robert Gal, Senior Manager, Performance & Accessories, Volkswagen Sales & Marketing. "The fact that this group of top tuners and customizers chose it as a canvas for their offerings and creativity is further testament to its appeal."

The German company’s modified Jetta features an eye-catching glossy Habanero orange paint with silver stripes on the sides, gunmetal gray wheels that sit adequately close to the wheel arches thanks to the H&R sporty suspension setup, and add-ons to the bumpers that enhance the car’s athletic appearance.

Volkswagen introduced the Tanoak Concept at the New York Auto Show with the intention of gauging the public’s interest in the possibility of a production model. It’s taken a bit of time to read into the fleshed-out pickup’s reception, but it looks like there’s momentum within VW that a production model is something that can’t be dismissed outright. No decision has been made yet, and don’t expect one to be announced soon, but a production version of the Tanoak isn’t dead yet.
