Just two weeks after we saw the ID.5 GTX being tested in the wild, Volkswagen revealed the ID.5. Today, we’re looking at the production version of the ID. Buzz with nearly no camo yet still a bit different compared to the original 2017 ID. Buzz concept.

The Volkswagen Passat isn’t as dead as the media would lead you to believe, and the Aero B – a Passat-sized EV – isn’t going to replace it right away. In fact, the ICE-powered Passat will see one more generational shift that should keep it on the market, at least in some places, until the end of the decade. At that point, it will probably be replaced by the second-generation Aero B, but that’s still 8 years from now and we’re getting ahead of ourselves, so let’s take a look at these new spy shots of the Volkswagen Aero B.

If there’s one brand that’s catapulted EV ambitions within the Volkswagen Group, it has to be Porsche. While Audi may have been the first to bring their e-Tron to market, it wasn’t until the Taycan came along that several brands within the VW Group started making the shift to electric mobility.

Volkswagen was supposed to debut the ID.5 GTX at the 2021 IAA Mobility Show in Munich, but canceled it at the last minute. We saw a camouflaged version ahead of the show which didn’t hide much of the styling cues, but it was still with some skin. Now, the coupe-version of the ID.4 was recently spotted stretching its legs at the Nürburgring without nearly any camouflage this time.

It looks like the last hour has come for the manual transmission at Volkswagen. Since VW is basically on the road to electro-mobility and is saying goodbye to the combustion engine, it is also inadvertently saying goodbye to the manual transmission.

Volkswagen has launched a new coupe SUV – the company’s very first – for the European market, jumping on the wagon started by the BMW X6 way back in 2008. This is the new TAIGO, but if it looks familiar, it’s because it’s not actually new – it’s also known as the Nivus in Brazil. The TAIGO will be built in Spain and will slot between the T-Roc and T-Cross, but it’s really little more than a T-Cross with a less headroom. Higher trim levels will come with VW’s new IQ Light LED matrix headlights and an illuminated radiator grille.

The TAIGO will only be offered with FWD and, believe it or not, will only be offered with a gasoline engine. There’s a 1.0-liter three-cylinder or a larger, 1.5-liter four-banger with output ranging from 95 to 150 horsepower. A five-speed manual will be standard on three-cylinder models while four-cylinder models will come with a six-speed. VW plans to offer an options seven-speed DCT if you’re willing to pay for it. This is no performance coupe SUV, though, so top speed will sit at 210 km/h or about 130 mph. It will be sold in 28 different European countries, but pricing wont’ be available until closer to its official launch.

Volkswagen recently announced the ID.4 GTX. With it, the German brand announced the beginning of its sporty EV lineup. What’s more important, however, is that during that same presentation, the new ID.5 was shown for the first time and with it, an ID.5 GTX was confirmed. This is the latest vehicle to utilize VW’s MEB platform for EVs. Moreover, the ID.5 will be a sleeker version of the ID.4. Think of it as an ID.4 Coupe.

In case you haven’t noticed, outside of a few entry-level cars like the Hyundai Kona EV and Chevy Bolt, for example, electric cars are pretty fast. And the cost to make even an entry-level EV fast isn’t all that high. EVs are opening the door for automakers to expand their performance lineups exponentially, and Volkswagen will be one of the first as the GTX badge be slapped onto an entire fleet of high-performance EVs. So, which model will we see next?

The new Volkswagen ID.6, the latest model slated to join the likes of ID.3 and ID.4, will be underpinned by the same MEB platform and should touch base in 2021. Essentially a big brother to the aforementioned models, the ID.6 is based on the seven-seater ID Roomzz concept. Here’s what we know so far about the family-friendly, all-electric SUV from VW.

EPA fuel economy estimates for the new, 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 are in and the German EV is just as efficient as the company claimed it would be. The Environmental Protection Agency says that the ID.4 will be able to travel for up to 250 miles on a single change, which is identical to Volkswagen’s forecast for the U.S. market. This figures places the ID.4 above the Standard Range version of the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Back in 2016, Volkswagen launched the first ID concept, signaling the birth of an all-electric sub-brand. Four years later and the German firm introduced the first two ID-badged production models, the ID.3 hatchback and the ID.4 crossover. At least six more electric vehicles are scheduled to hit the roads by 2023 and it seems Volkswagen is also working on a station wagon based on the ID Space Vizzion concept. The latest info coming from Volkswagen says that it will have a range of 700 km (around 435 miles).

Performance and practicality are two words that rarely go together. More often than not we talk about the perfect compromise between the two, rather than the perfect blend. That doesn’t stop manufacturers from trying to give us the best performing version of a normal car.

Station wagons, in particular, seem to be making a comeback and currently, Volkswagen is rigorously testing a more practical version of its Golf R – the Variant. Regardless of which version we talk about, the people’s car from Germany has always been a good all-rounder, but does the Golf R Variant still has what it takes to compete?

The Volkswagen Golf has been on the circuit for almost five decades now, but it is still as popular as ever. In recent times, it looked like Volkswagen is paying all the attention to strengthen its SUV portfolio, introducing a new model every year for the last four years in the States. This led to people assuming that the enthusiasts are left out to dry. However, the company re-instilled the faith by announcing the return of the Golf R after a small hiatus. Arriving as a 2022 model year, the new Golf R will be the most powerful Golf ever built!

With the Volkswagen ID.4 revealed, we’re naturally wondering what’s coming next. Knowing Volkswagen, and the fact that the ID.4 and ID.3 share the same MEB architecture, a handful of electric models will probably share the same bones. So, why not an ID-based truck? Well, rendering artist KDesign AG was thinking the same thing and threw together the renderings you see here. Overall, it doesn’t look too bad at all, really.

The Volkswagen ID.4, the company’s second dedicated electric vehicle, is set to debut on September 23, but the German carmaker has already unveiled the crossover’s interior. Not surprisingly, it looks a lot like the ID.3, the compact five-door hatchback that Volkswagen introduced in 2019.

The Volkswagen ID.4 launches for the 2022 model year, and it will look like a modern-day vehicle, albeit with some minor EV twists here and there. But, it is riding on VW’s MEB architecture, which is, essentially, set to be passed around the company like a dirty diaper and used to underpin an entire fleet of models. We’re talking about small hatchbacks, midsize crossovers, and even large vans, so it’s a very versatile platform. Following the ID.4, the MEB structure will underpin the retro-styled ID.Buzz and ID.Cargo, retro-styled vans. Now, it looks like the Buzz and Cargo might not be so lonely, thanks to VW’s new trademark filing for the name “E-Thing.” Can you feel the retro vibe yet?

Two years ago, we reported that the VW Beetle was going to die and would never come back. Then, come late-2018 and the Beetle’s demise became a confirmed fact. Part of that coverage indicated that the Beetle would be replaced, in part, by the I.D. Buzz E.V. and the T-Roc subcompact crossover. It was also reported that the Beetle would return as an electric four-door, but given the introduction and push of VW’s new I.D. range of vehicles, that didn’t make a lot of sense. Until now, that is, as VW has filed trademark for a number of names with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, including “e-Beetle.” Here we go again, folks.
