The Porsche 911 GT3 is the ultimate, normally-aspirated 911 and the YouTube channel AutoTopNL recently got its hands on a 992 GT3 Touring – the more street-oriented, “less shouty” version of the normally-aspirated track weapon, without the crazy aero. And while race tracks are the home of the GT3, here, we see how capable the wingless version is, on the Autobahn. Is the “purest 911” capable enough, in the age of turbocharged performance cars?

With the pandemic still looming over our heads, 2021 was a pretty action-packed year for the auto industry. Let’s get one thing out of the way, 2021 really was also the year, when the market as a whole began to embrace EV’s and you could see several automakers both the legacy as well as EV startups bring several new models to market. Having said that, we did see some pretty cool ICE cars, also make their debut. Now there were several cars that made headlines this year, it was very difficult to pick out the best ones, but the cars on this list definitely stood out. Here’s our list of some of the most highly anticipated and important cars that were unveiled in 2021.

Developing a car from scratch starts with some drawing and calculations, then the building of test prototypes, then pre-production cars, and eventually the pilot production vehicles. Most of the time, test prototypes are usually destroyed when their use has been exceeded, yet here we are looking at a test prototype of the Porsche 959 – a car that is believed to be one of the few surviving examples of the F-Series prototypes from 1985. It’s currently listed for sale on Mechatronik for an undisclosed price, but is It truly authentic?

Porsche brought back the "Sports Classic" name with the Porsche 911 997 generation as a successor for the iconic Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS. Now, the name will be used once again, and an official launch for the new generation Porsche 911 992 Sport Classic is rumored for February 2022.

The folks at Carwow came up with yet another interesting mix of cars for a series of races. The contenders this time were three Porsches, namely, the 992 911 Turbo S, the 991 911 GT2 RS, and the 992 911 GT3. The Turbo S and the GT2 RS have twin turbos, unlike the naturally aspirated GT3, but only the Turbo S had an all-wheel-drive system here. With so many factors playing a role, which car do you think will come out with bragging rights?

With 502 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque under the hood and a Nurburgring time improved by 17 seconds when compared to its predecessor, the new 911 GT3 is a car that needs no improvement. But, the guys over at Manthey Racing found a way to further improve the performance of the new 911 GT3 - with absolutely no upgrades made under the hood.

The Porsche 911 is currently in its eighth generation, internally dubbed the 992. The current generation debuted in 2019, with the 911 Turbo debuting in March 2020, and as always, followed the philosophy “evolution, not revolution”. Fast-forward to the end of 2021 and we have spy footage, which shows an updated version of the 992 Turbo testing in the snow. Here’s what we see.

The Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo is the more practical version of Porsche’s first, modern-day EV. More importantly, from 2022, both body styles get a GTS version. There is no dearth of electric cars in the market now. We aren’t just talking about the urban commuters, but also fast electric cars. There are many new automakers that start their electric car journey with fast cars or electric supercars. Although Porsche’s most definitive model is the 911, these days it’s the Taycan that often steals the show. This tuned and dressed-up 911 Targa is a project between TechArt and TUNE IT! SAFE!, and it serves as a sort of symbolism for a worthwhile tuning initiative. That’s because this special Porsche 911 Targa is a showcase that, according to TechArt and TUNE IT! SAFE!, "shows that appealing creative tuning does not have to be in conflict with legal requirements."

Porsche has taken the wraps off of their all-new 718 Cayman GT4 RS at the LA Auto Show, and this new model is the flagship offering in the Cayman lineup.

When Porsche revealed the electric Mission R Concept, it was billed as a preview of a one-maker racer, but it also previewed – to a small extent – what we can expect from the upcoming electric Porsche 718. In fact, the Mission R Concept was based on a highly modified version of the current 718’s chassis and even featured similar dimensions to the current road-going sports cars. And it’s because of this car that the next-gen electric 718 Cayman and Boxster will set the standard for how a modern sports car can transition into electrification without losing what matters the most – its driving dynamic.
