The Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo is the more practical version of Porsche’s first, modern-day EV. More importantly, from 2022, both body styles get a GTS version. The Porsche Taycan GTS is already shaping up to be right in the middle of the Taycan lineup, in terms of price and performance, but it also brings a bit more excitement. Find out how, below.

There is no dearth of electric cars in the market now. We aren’t just talking about the urban commuters, but also fast electric cars. There are many new automakers that start their electric car journey with fast cars or electric supercars. Companies like Estrema, Aspark, and even Tesla, for that matter, came up with fast electric sports cars or electric supercars. While some have faded into oblivion after showing us promising concepts, some have weathered the storm and are either into production or will enter production.

Here’s a list of the eight fastest electric cars in the world today that are in the production stage or about to enter production. Some of these fast cars are from mainstream automakers, some from established EVmakers, and some from new start-ups.

Although Porsche’s most definitive model is the 911, these days it’s the Taycan that often steals the show. Porsche’s first, modern-day EV gave the Tesla Model S a worthy competitor from an established brand and now, the Porsche Taycan is blessed by the GTS moniker. How does it stack up to the rest of the lineup and does GTS still stand for the sweet spot in Porsche’s lineup?

When EVs take on internal combustion engines, they win almost always. So, how does the Taycan, in the top-spec Turbo S trim, perform against one of the best internal combustion-engined cars on the drag strip, the Porsche 911 Turbo S? Let’s find out.

In a world where crossovers and SUVs reign supreme, it is no surprise that the Porsche Cayenne and Macan continue to be the brand’s best-sellers. For the rest of Porsche’s model lineup though, the all-electric Taycan sits comfortably in third, making it the best-selling non-SUV Porsche so far this year.

Watt Electric Vehicles is not the most sonorous name in the EV industry but looking at its latest project, the company seems to have the potential to become a strong player in the EV restomod niche. The reason behind this statement is as cool as they come: a Porsche 356-inspired EV with a mid-mounted electric motor.

Porsche’s plans to build up the Taycan family could soon include a two-door, a convertible, and a low-slung version of the Cross Turismo. Company boss Stefan Weckbach revealed to Autocar that discussions are currently ongoing within Porsche to add body styles to the Taycan to complement the Taycan sports saloon and the Taycan Cross Turismo. No timetable has been set on when these models will arrive or whether they’re going to be green-lighted in the first place. Porsche has made clear its plans to have an 80 percent electric lineup by 2030.

A few years ago there were rumors that Porsche was working on a hybrid version of the Macan. With the first-gen crossover near the end of its life-cycle, it seems that the Germans are switching to an all-electric layout. The next-gen Macan was spotted testing on public roads, and even though it doesn’t look radically different, it has nothing in common with the old model under the skin.

The Porsche Taycan has mainly been in the news for two reasons – the exorbitant price and the laughable range. In fact, Porsche recently said that it doesn’t consider Tesla as its rival. While this is true to an extent, it still sounded like a justification because it couldn’t match the latter’s battery range. Well, it looks like Porsche is going to get some heat for this as well. The company is coming up with a cheaper trim of the Taycan with a two-wheel-drive configuration and a ‘smaller battery’.

If you’re into modern Porsches, then you know they pack super-fancy launch control systems that are tougher than a tardigrade. Whether it’s the Panamera, the 911, or its GT3/GT2-badged iterations, launch controlling a Porsche can be done basically until you run out of fuel.

But as Chris Harris was about to discover, the same applies to the Porsche Taycan. That’s nothing short of impressive and at the same time reaffirming of the Taycan’s status as a true out-and-out all-electric sports car.

Porsche is showing its first Super Bowl commercial in 23 years, and the star of the ad is none other than the all-electric Taycan. The German automaker’s first-ever all-electric production car is all set to hit the market this year, but there’s nothing quite like the platform and reach of the Super Bowl to get the hype going.

The 60-second commercial is called “The Heist” and unlike some previous ones that have touted electric technology more than the actual electric cars, this commercial is all about the Taycan… and several other Porsche vehicles. You know, I like the Porsche Taycan. I think it’s relatively sport for what it is while still featuring the family friendliness of four-doors and plenty of cargo room. Sure, it kind of looks like a deformed, partially aborted 911 with too much DNA, but that’s a conversation for another day. What I can’t get past, though, is the fact that Porsche has seriously dropped the ball when it comes to EV range. Where the Porsche Taycan Turbo is rated at 201 miles, the Taycan Turbo S garners just 194 on a full charge.

Nobody has officially confirmed that the next-generation 2023 Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster will be electric or even hybrid, but a new report is saying that they could have 400 horsepower, a figure that will put them well ahead of the current Cayman GTS and pretty damn close to the 414-horsepower Cayman GT4.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the sort of battle that has the potential to change the EV segment forever. So far, Tesla’s viciously quick Model S has been kicking supercars and muscle cars to the curb in drag races around the world to the delight of Elon Musk’s fanbase. However, it looks like the electric sedan has met its match and then some in the squeaky-new Porsche Taycan.
