The 2022 Taycan Has Been Improved In Ways That You Can’t Imagine
Updating cars on a year-to-year basis is becoming a new trend, and the Taycan is the latest model to jump on that bandwagon. For 2022, Porsche has improved the Taycan dramatically, with all updates geared toward making day-to-day use easier. It all starts with Normal and Range modes. When these modes are engaged, the front motor is almost completely decoupled and de-energized. And an new computer algorithm allows both motors to disengage when the car is coasting or at a standstill, something that also helps increase usable range.
Beyond this, Porsche has updated the Taycan’s thermal management system with the goal of optimizing the drivetrain. The battery can now be heated to a slightly higher temperature, which allows for fast charting earlier and at a higher charge level – something that reduces the amount of time required to charge. Even better, the excess heat from electrical components is now used to a greater extent to regulate the battery’s temperature.
Alongside these new upgrades, Porsche is now offering the Taycan with Remote Park Assist that will allow you to park it with your smartphone and Android Auto has finally been integrated into the sixth-generation PCM infotainment system. The Taycan can also be ordered through the paint-to-sample and paint-to-sample plus programs, the first one of which includes up to 65 available colors, like the cool red you see here.

The Porsche 911 has had a long and illustrious history that dates all the way back to 1963. Basically becoming the posterchild for performance and what a true sports car should be, it has quite the cult following. One could even argue that it’s one of the most loved sports cars in the world. But, despite all of this love, there’s one generation that stands out as inferior, and that my friends is the 996 generation that was built between 1997 and 2004. Well, technically it stayed in production to some extent until 2006, but we’ll talk more about that later. So, was the 996 911 really such a bad car, and should you risk buying one today? It’s not as bad as you might think, although, there are some things you need to know about it.
Porsche Could Build a Taycan Coupe, Convertible, and Sport Turismo
Porsche’s plans to build up the Taycan family could soon include a two-door, a convertible, and a low-slung version of the Cross Turismo. Company boss Stefan Weckbach revealed to Autocar that discussions are currently ongoing within Porsche to add body styles to the Taycan to complement the Taycan sports saloon and the Taycan Cross Turismo. No timetable has been set on when these models will arrive or whether they’re going to be green-lighted in the first place. Porsche has made clear its plans to have an 80 percent electric lineup by 2030.

Those looking for more practicality from their Taycan can now buy the Taycan Cross Turismo. In what was supposed to be a debut at the Geneva Motor Show (thanks, covid-19!), Porsche has released all we need to know about the wagon-ized version of the Taycan EV.
