There’s no denying that prior to the launch of the 2020 Jeep Gladiator, the company had anticipated it to be a runaway success. Similarly, Chevrolet was confident of the Corvette C8 doing well, and it added an extra shift of workforce in its Kentucky factory even before the launch of the mid-engined car. FCA introduced a plethora of add-on accessories through Mopar along with the Gladiator’s launch, and the gamble seems to have paid off. In fact, the success is so great that the Gladiator managed to beat the Wrangler when it comes to the moolah customers spend to buy Mopar accessories for their vehicles.

Jeep has unveiled the Wrangler Rubicon 1941 at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Decked in a bevy of options and off-road accessories, the Mopar-tuned off-roader is basically a catalog on four wheels. It’s based on the Wrangler Rubicon, and it’s decked out with enough useful and functional upgrades to make your outdoor adventures less of a hassle. While the Wrangler Rubicon 1941 itself is unlikely to hit production in Europe, its presence in Geneva is less about showing off its exclusivity and more about showing off the many customizable options that are available to the European-spec Wrangler Rubicon. Best of all, the Wrangler Rubicon 1941’s upgrades and accessories are all street-legal. If you want Mopar to build you one that’s to the exact specifications of the version sitting in Geneva, there’s a roadmap that can make that happen.

The Jeep brand’s foundation is based on utility and preparedness, so it comes as no surprise that the 2018 Wrangler JL comes with its own toolkit. The kit comes with a socket wrench and the drivers needed to remove the doors and fold the windshield – two very important aspects of Wrangler ownership.

The toolkit trend started a few years ago with the Wrangler JK, but Jeep is keeping the idea alive. The kit comes in a snazzy nylon pouch with a Velcro latch. Inside are elastic bands that hold the tools in place. The kit includes a min socket, a T40 and T50 Torx bits and an M15 socket. The T40 is used for the various parts of the soft top, while the T50’s main job is removing the bolts holding the door hinges in place. The T50 is also used to remove the track system of the Sunrider soft top.

Folding the windshield requires removing the windshield wipers. That takes the M15 socket. Simply pop off the caps at the wiper hubs and remove the nut. Use the T40 to remove the four bolts holding the windshield header bar to the Sports Bar support and boom – the windshield easily folds down. Two more T40 bolts on the windshields two hinges will have the entire windshield assembly removed from the Jeep.

Best of all, the Wrangler offers a custom-fit storage holder for all this hardware. Lift up the cargo floor, and holes are pre-made and labeled in the plastic tray found underneath.

Jeep also includes a handy instruction guide with photos and labels. The instructions are on thick, laminated paper that should last a while, especially when kept in the clear plastic pocket inside the took kit pouch.

Detroit Manufacturing Systems LLC broke ground August 24 on a 102,000-square foot facility dedicated to making instrument clusters for various automakers and models, including the next-generation, 2017 Jeep Wrangler.

The plant will be located atop the same spot where every Jeep made between 1940 and 2001 was produced. Originally home to the Willys-Overland Company, the land housed the factory that built the Willys MB during WWII and later housed AMC and Chrysler’s Jeep operations. Many Jeep enthusiasts consider this “hallowed ground” and the birthplace of the brand. Today, the only remnant is a smokestack left for posterity. The red brick structure still reads “OVERLAND,” spelled out in black bricks.

The DMS facility will neighbor another factory in Overland Industrial Park, Dana Inc.’s new advanced axle factory. Dana will also be providing axles and other parts to FCA’s Toledo Assembly Complex some three miles down the street. The 2017 Wrangler will likely be riding on these Dana axles. Both companies are building around the smokestack, leaving it to stand for decades to come.

DMS expects to be fully operational by the summer of 2017 and initially employ at least 140 people. The growth of another 100 workers is projected by 2020. And interestingly enough, DMS CEO Andra Rush says she remembers making “midnight deliveries” to the old Jeep assembly plant before its decommissioning in 2001 and demolition in 2010. Rush, a former truck driver, launched her own trucking company in 1984, Rush Trucking Corp., of which she is still CEO.

DMS currently supplies dashboards, gauge clusters, door panels, and center consoles to several Ford products, including the F-Series trucks, Expedition, Explorer, Focus, Mustang, and Taurus.

The open-air driving experience is second to none – even convertibles can’t match the feeling of Jeeping with your foot resting on the open door sills. The 2015 Easter Jeep Safari has only been over for a few weeks, but that hasn’t stopped Jeep from adding several parts to the Mopar Catalog that was showcased at the annual off-roading event.

However Jeep didn’t have these parts laid out on a product demonstration table next to some food truck in the parking lot – no, Jeep used and abused many them on the seven EJS Jeep concepts.

The parts range from rock rails for the Jeep Cherokee to four-inch suspension lift kits and Dana 60 crate axles for JK Wranglers. Other parts include Wrangler-specific items like beadlock wheels, flat-top fenders, and even a big brake kit. The brake kit also includes an option for a larger master cylinder and booster, all to help reign in those 40-inch mud tires that’s popular on today’s trails.

These accessories join Mopar’s growing list of Jeep Performance Parts. Best of all, each are factory engineered to work with Jeep vehicles to make them perform better without giving up safety or drivability. The full list of the new parts are listed below, along with their prices.

If you want to take a break from all the Paris Auto Show-related news, check out some of the new details we dug up on the next big auto show of the year: SEMA. Mopar has unveiled a series of teaser images for their upcoming line-up, which will be presented in Las Vegas from Tuesday, October 30, 2012, to Friday, November 2, 2012. These images only show five different vehicles, but the company has promised that more than 20 Moparized Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat, and SRT vehicles will be at the show.

The teaser images show a widebody Fiat 500, a custom RAM pickup, an updated Dodge Charger,
a heavily modified Jeep, and - our favorite - a very nicely updated Dodge Dart. With its growing list of Mopar-first features, including Electronic Vehicle Tracking Systems (EVTS), Wireless charging, Vehicle-information apps, and Electronic owner manuals, we’re psyched to see what Chrysler’s service, parts, and customer-care brand has to offer at this year’s SEMA Auto Show.

Officially, the 2012 Jeep Wrangler doesn’t exist yet. No one at Chrysler will talk about it, but dealers have already received order guides for it. Now, an Atlanta dealership has posted the first 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with Chrysler’s Pentastar V-6 on eBay and they’re even offering it for sale below sticker price, instead of some absurd amount of “Additional Dealer Markup” tacked on.

The big news for the 2012 Jeep Wrangler is the new engine. Gone is the anemic 3.8-liter V-6 used on Wranglers from 2007 through 2011, and we say good riddance. The 3.8-liter engine was good for only 202 horsepower and 237 ft-lb of torque, which made the 3,800 pound Wrangler feel sluggish on pavement and hard-packed trails. It works well enough off-road, thanks to the Wrangler’s low gearing, but nearly every Wrangler owner we know sinks serious money into coaxing additional horsepower out of the old V-6.

For 2012, the Jeep Wrangler gets the same 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 used in the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It’s a big improvement in terms of output, and the new engine is rated at 260 horsepower when stuffed under the hood of the Wrangler. We haven’t seen torque specifications just yet, but we suspect they’ll be an improvement over last year’s 237 ft-lb as well. Fuel economy is up for 2012, with the Pentastar V-6 getting 13 percent better fuel economy in the city and nearly 11 percent better fuel economy on the highway. That puts the two-door Wrangler at 17 mpg city and 21 mpg highway, while the four-door Wrangler Unlimited clocks in with 16 mpg city and 20 mpg highway.

The Jeep Wrangler is not only one of the most capable off road vehicles ever made, but also one of the most historically significant. The first Jeep vehicle to wear the Wrangler badge actually appeared in 1987, yet its roots go back to the 1941 Willy MB Army Jeep. That quarter ton vehicle carried the United States military through conflict after conflict essentially until invention of the HUMVEE.

Today, the Wrangler remains a favorite amongst the off-roading crowd and tends to be heavily modified by many. The new 2011 Jeep Wrangler body has given this classic vehicle a new lease on life, especially as far as the interior goes. These off road behemoths can now become capable on the outside and full of comfort on the inside. Hundreds of parts and accessories companies exist for the Wrangler, but the most complete and radical designs have come from a young company by the name of Hauk Designs.

If you have been in the off-road marketplace then the name River Raider Off Road may come to mind and this new full service company has come out of that. We recently spoke with Kenny Hauk of Hauk Designs and talked to him about the various models that the company now builds for its customers. He mentioned that the custom designed and fabricated parts that River Raider was building became so popular that his customers were asking to have their Jeeps completely built by the company. The current business plan features three distinct models each with a myriad of options to choose from.

Jeep and Mopar are offering consumers the chance to really enjoy their summer trip this year. Well, not all consumers, but those who own a Jeep can take advantage the first off-road camper trailers. There will be two different models, both going on sale this August.

The first of them is the Jeep Trail Edition Camper for Casual Campers. It is priced at $9,995 and features an extensive use of lightweight tubular-aluminum construction, 32" BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires, a diamond-plated aluminum top, a comfortable multi-use sofa, a queen-sized bed, and a 110-volt power inverter that provides additional cooking, heating, cooling, and entertainment options.

The second one is the Jeep Extreme Trail Edition Camper for Extreme Off-roaders, a model priced at $11,995. It gets a heavy-duty frame, more ground clearance (15 inches), a full-underbody skid plate, and 35" BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires. It will be available in Bright Silver Metallic, Black, Flame Red, Mango Tango Pearl, and Natural Green Metallic.
