“That Racing Channel” continues to supply us – the audience – with great automotive content, showcasing some of the most epic builds in the world. We’ve made it clear that we love Dodge Vipers and apparently, so do the people at “Nth Moto”, who are also the creators of “the Juggernaut” – a 3,200 horsepower Dodge Viper GTS. Now, they’ve come up with an even crazier Viper, which also happens to be the roll race champion. - meet “Kratos”.

Maybe you’re a fan and maybe you aren’t, but it’s hard to deny that there is something special about the Dodge Viper. Designed with help from Carroll Shelby to be a modern take on the same philosophy that underpinned the original 1963 Shelby Cobra, the car was a serious departure from what was going on in the American automotive industry when it first appeared as a concept in 1989. The changes to the car have been evolutionary, and as minimal as possible over the years, a fact that makes fans of the car incredibly happy.

The Viper has been rewarded with some seriously loyal fans, and the video here has been made for them. This is just an intro though; it teases a whole series of videos that get far more in depth about the history of the Viper and the people involved in all sorts of aspects of it. It does have a bit of an unfortunate corporate training video kind of a feel to it, and to say that at times the sound mixing doesn’t do the exhaust note justice would be a massive understatement. But the subject matter is interesting, and these things presumably won’t be as noticeable in the finished product.

The race-spec SRT Viper is already a successful track machine, having won many prestigious trophies since its introduction in 1996. The latest iteration of the race car, the GT3-R, has yet to reach the heights of its forerunners, but its recent success during the Detroit leg of the Pirelli World Challenge Series in May 2014 is proof enough that the Viper is headed in the right direction. More recently, the "Snake" developed by Riley Technologies made yet another step toward track glory by setting the fastest lap in the Ultimate Track Car Challenge.

The event took place on July 18th at Virginia International Raceway, where the SRT Viper GT3-R rendered its competitors obsolete. The race car, built by Riley Technologies and driven by American Le Mans Series ace Ben Keating, wasn’t shy about tackling the track at full throttle and set the fastest lap at 1:44.71. The Viper was quicker than a 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo and its benchmark would have been enough to earn it the pole position at last year’s American Le Mans Series on the same track.

The Ultimate Track Car Challenge is an annual event held by Grassroots Motorsports at Virginia International Raceway. The competition is open to any type of car, including classic vehicles, and its sole purpose is to find America’s fastest track cars. Any self-titled crazed car nut such as myself will tell you, there’s more to cars than just rubber and metal. No, it’s far deeper than that. It involves a certain level of passion and fanaticism not appreciated by the casual onlooker. No, some folks just have gasoline running through their veins and 5W-30 oil in their heads. It’s a disease, really.

Chrysler’s SRT division seems to have hit the nail on the head with its latest commercial. It’s all about the brand being more than a brand; it’s about being a legend, making a statement, and having a certain attitude. It embodies the essence of being a car junkie and stirs the souls of gear heads everywhere.

Besides a well-made commercial featuring some of our favorite vehicles, the commercial indicates Chrysler’s intentions of heavily promoting SRT as its own brand or division. It all started with the Viper’s rebirth in 2013. Moving from under the Dodge branch, the Viper seemingly created its own niche label. Conveniently, the Viper immediately had similarly-badged SRT friends ready to join the party. Although they still sport their own badging, the group of SRT vehicles includes the Dodge Charger and Challenger, the Chrysler 300, and the famous Jeep Grand Cherokee – all with monstrous V-8s thundering underhood.

With SRT’s growth and increasing recognition, it wouldn’t be unlikely for the division to grow its lineup. Perhaps a slew of SRT4 models would be appropriate — ya know, sporting turbos with crazy boost numbers, manual transmissions and rear-wheel-drive. We already know SRT’s CEO Ralph Gilles has been hearing the SRT fan base screaming for an answer to the Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S twins. Perhaps commercials like this are our first indication Gilles has something up his gasoline-soaked sleeve.

Collections come in various shapes, forms and sizes, with some even being more expensive than others. That’s nothing in the auto industry where you have people with the financial resources to collect some of the expensive vehicles in the world.

But when it comes to Dodge Vipers, this couple from Texas trumps all of them — by a lot.

Apparently, they’re every bit the passionate Viper fans they make themselves out to be. In the past seven years, they’ve taken a significant chunk of their wealth and used them to buy Vipers. Not just one, two, or even 10 models.

65 models, in fact.

D’Ann and Wayne Rauh are the proud owners of 65 Dodge and SRT Vipers, a collection that could arguably be the largest Viper collection in the world. Now, there might some Middle Eastern man that has an equally huge — maybe even larger — collection out there, but for what it’s worth, the Rauh’s collection of Vipers is pretty incredible.

What makes their collection all the more impressive is that it only started its Viper collection in 2006 when they brought their first model. Soon thereafter, one model turned into two and two turned into four. Seven years later, their garage has just about every Viper you can think of, including the 2010 SRT10 ACR-X which isn’t even street legal.

Now that’s how you turn a fascination into downright obsession.

We’re pretty sure that if you want to buy an American sports car this year, you may opt for the SRT Viper, and not the new Corvette Stingray. While Chevrolet failed to capture the usual Corvette allure, SRT did an amazing job in developing an awesome sports car - no slight to the Corvette, of course.

The SRT Viper is powered by a new 8.4-liter, all-aluminum V-10 overhead-valve engine that will deliver a total of 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. The new engine will be mated to an improved Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission.

According to Hennessey Performance, which was the latest one to dyno test the 2013 Viper, the new Viper develops a total of 558 rear wheel horsepower and 515 pound-feet of torque. So, how do we get from here to the numbers announced by SRT? Well, simply add forced induction; In fact, you will obtain almost double than SRT announced with some pressurized air flowing through the intake.

The auto industry has been bitten by the web series bug. How else do you explain its proliferation these days with numerous automakers taking to that approach to give outsides like us a chance to see the inner workings of the company.

A few years ago, Chevrolet Racing ran the "Track to Street" series, which chronicled its participation in a couple of ALMS seasons. Koenigsegg also had one earlier this year and Pagani just recently showed a teaser of its web series a week ago.

All this leads us to Dodge, who is following in the steps of Chevrolet Racing to give us "Beyond the Checkered Flag", its own web series that will chronicle Dodge and SRT’s racing season in the ALMS series this year. The first episode is scheduled to be revealed next week, but for now, the company has prepared a nice little teaser for us to enjoy, which you can check out by click past the jump.

When a maker develops a sports car, one of the first steps it takes is to head to the drag strip to see what it can run the quarter-mile in. While SRT continues to hem-haw around releasing the official performance numbers of the new Viper, the folks over DragTimes were lent a Viper and pushed it to the extreme at Palm Beach International Raceway.

The best result obtained by the SRT Viper was scored when the sports car’s launch control system was on. This run turned in an 11.1-second quarter-mile time at a speed of 127.4 mph. During the same test, the SRT Viper ran from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, from 0 to 100 in 7.1 seconds and from 60 to 130 mph in 8.08 seconds.

How many times do you have the chance to see two 2013 SRT Vipers racing against each other? Not too many times, that’s for sure! But this past weekend two brand-new models were put head to head at the 2013 Spring Texas Invitational. While the Viper is absolutely gorgeous when you see just one on the street, but two in the same place is an absolute godsend.

For all the attention paid to a car’s looks and its accompanying performance credentials, a good sports car can sometimes go down to its color.

Mess that one up and you’re looking at an eyesore. Hit on it and you’re looking at a potential goldmine.

In the case of SRT, paint finishes play an important role in the overall package of the SRT Viper. Whether it’s the classic colors or more of the attention-grabbing hues, giving a car like the Viper the right color finish is a pretty important deal.

In this video, SRT takes us on an up close look at how it cooks up different colors in its "color kitchen.” It’s a task that sounds easy, but it’s really not. SRT stresses that putting in the right colors often involves meticulous detail that includes transforming computer-generated colors into paint samples and eventually spraying a whole car to see if the end results is right up to par with expectations.

Suffice to say, it’s a science that a lot of us take for granted. Fortunately, this video will show us that it’s far from an easy task.

The previous-generation Dodge Viper was often criticized that it has lost the essence of earlier years. Things seems to have been solved, as the new Viper has not been inspired by the model it replaces; instead, SRT designers looked back at the first- and second-generation Vipers which were the most appreciated ones.

In this video, Viper’s Head of Design, Mark Trostle, explains how the design of the new Viper took shape. According to him, designers focused mostly on keeping the essence of the first two generations, but also the unmistakable proportions of the Viper. According to him, even if there is a car cover on, people will still know what car it is. And the final element, the new Viper combines functionality with beauty.

Right after SRT unveiled the new Viper to the world, Jay Leno reviewed the pilot car. Unfortunately, Jay couldn’t legally take it on the road, so we didn’t get to see his typical test drive.

Now, the new supercar is back in Jay Leno’s Garage for a more detailed review and the long-awaited test drive. The car was brought to him by SRT CEO Ralph Gilles himself. In fact, Gilles – a true car guy – actually drive it 5,000 miles across country, so Jay could feature it.

Before its date with the track, Jay took the Viper on the typical drive that he is known for. This drive culminated in a fantastic burnout, and Jay and Gilles mocking Chrysler’s former owners, Daimler, for not knowing what a burnout was. After its relatively calm road test, the Viper was pushed to its limits at the Willow Springs test track.

We’ve seen a lot of behind-the-scenes videos over the years, a lot of which chronicle the build process of a car that we normally wouldn’t be privy too.

Thanks to the New York Times, we now have a chance to see how one of today’s most scintillating American sports cars, the SRT Viper, is built. The build takes place at SRT’s Conner Avenue Assembly plant in Detroit, and for the next three-and-something minutes, we find out exactly how detailed and painstaking the work really is when it comes to putting together the car with the stature and technical intricacies of the SRT Viper.

In the end, the sparkling sports cars look downright amazing, all thanks to the men and women who work tirelessly to ensure that every nook and cranny of the SRT Viper is built and tested the right way.

Feels like we owe these fine folks some gratitude for the work they do.

Prospective owners of the new SRT Viper have to be squeaking in delight right now after the first production model of the reborn American sports car finally rolled off of the production line.

As expected, this was a very big deal for fans and future owners of the Viper, as a lot of them have been waiting years for this moment to come. The special ceremony — yes, the event deserves a ceremony — was attended by the higher ups of the Chrysler management chain, including Chrysler Group LLC chairman and CEO Sergio Marchionne and SRT brand president and CEO Ralph Gilles.

As for the lucky owner of the Viper VIN #001, that distinction falls on the lucky shoulders of Scott Thomas of Oklahoma City, who actually paid a whopping $300,000 for the car at the Barrett-Jackson auction last year, benefiting the Austin Hatcher Foundation.

While stated output is all well and good, what really matters is how much of that power actually makes it to those monstrous rear tires.

The latest episode from MotorTrend’s “Ignition” features one of the coolest supercars launched in 2012, the SRT Viper GTS. SRT has unveiled a new video for its latest Viper sports car. The video is dubbed "Music Video" and does exactly as it says — shows the Viper in action with a nice soundtrack in the background. One of the coolest parts of the video is that is shows off the viper in several colors, so we get better look at the available-color pallet.

The new engine mates to an improved Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission. This combination launches the Viper from 0 to 60 mph in just 3 seconds and allows it to hit a top speed of 206 mph.

The 2012 SEMA Show is about dazzling the world with the capabilities of tuning companies and it takes a strong presence to be able to pull out ahead of the crowd. Chrysler Group’s Mopar and SRT brands are attempting that very feat by teaming up with comedic ventriloquist, Jeff Dunham.

For this build, Dunham is putting aside Walter (the retired, grumpy old man), Achmed (the dead terrorist), Peanut (the hyperactive, purple-skinned "woozle"), and Jose Jalapeño on a Stick (well, that one’s pretty self-explanatory) so that he can team up with Chrysler on "Project Ultraviolet," the tuning package that started off as a Dodge Challenger SRT8. The purpose behind this build is for Chrysler to show off some newly developed technology and a brand new engine. Nothing else is said about the car in this video, but there are two more videos to follow before the 2012 SEMA Auto Show opens its doors.

Are we excited to see what this purple Challenger has to offer? In the words of Jose Jalapeno on a Stick, "Siiiiii, señor!"

The newest member in the Chrysler family is SRT (Street and Racing Technology), which was unveiled at the same time as the new generation Viper that bnow bears its name. According to Chrysler, this new extension of their brand will be responsible for the development of the most powerful performance models available.

A lot goes behind setting up an arm such as SRT. Each department has a specific use in the grand scheme of the automotive world. Today, SRT has unveiled a video that explains the essence of this newly created brand and solidifies its purpose for the company: "The SRT family of five street and racing technology vehicles represents the pinnacle of Chrysler performance. Five different ways to get your revs up - all bred from the minds of those passionate about making cars better, faster and stronger."

SRT has already wowed us with their new generationViper, but we have to wonder what other scintillating models they have in store. The next piece of this SRT puzzle comes in the form of the Barracuda, but will it be able to stand up to its German competitors? Only time will tell, but they are sure off to a great start!

Back in June, we got to play around with the SRT Viper - included in the June pack - in the game. Now, though, things get a little juicier with the inclusion of the SRT Viper GTS-R that competed in the ALMS series over the summer into Forza’s latest car pack. Both cars, #91 and #93, have been added to the game, which means that we can have double the fun destroying the competition with these two venomous bad boys finally in the game.

In addition to the pair of Viper GTS-R’s, Forza’s September Car Pack will also include the 1968 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, the 1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato, the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, and the 2011 Citroen DS4, among others.

The new generation SRT Viper was recently launched onto the market and already it has been joined by a stellar special edition. The Viper GTS Launch Edition was unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours and since many of us did not get the chance to be at the show, here’s a video that shows the exterior and interior of the new Viper, along with some driving scenes.

For those who do not remember, the new SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition is painted in the company’s famous blue finish combined with bright-white racing stripes. Under the hood, this special edition maintains the same 8.4-liter V-10 engine that delivers a total of 640 HP and 600 lbs=-ft of torque. It will only be built in a limited run, so anyone interested may want to hurry up and send in a check!

We absolutely love the new SRT Viper, and have since the second Chrysler’s performance arm started teasing it. We also love videos of racecars zipping around tracks with awesome flyby shots. Well, you can imagine our excitement when a video of the new SRT Viper GTS-R – the car set to tear apart the American Le Mans Series – was released, showing it ripping up Virginia International Raceway.

This isn’t the first time we have seen the Viper GTS-R in action, but this video is a very telling one. All of the testing videos of the Viper GTS-R were on random tracks that the ALS does not use in its series. Well, VIR just so happens to be a part of this year’s ALS, and SRT has promised us that the SRT Viper will debut this season, but haven’t given a date.

With the VIR race coming up in September, and the fact that the SRT Viper looks just about race ready in the video – sans a little paintwork – we are thinking that the VIR race on September 15th is the likely debut date for this new machine. We could be completely off base here, but on the surface it looks this way.

Regardless of its actual debut day, we do know one thing; we cannot wait to see this thing on the track. Many moons ago, the Dodge Viper used to dominate this series, and we certainly expect to see the Viper jump right back into the 1st place slot that other cars have been keeping warm in its absence.
