2022 Dodge Durango Mopar Edition Debuts With Blue Styling Upgrades
The Mopar Dodge Durango joins a long list of Mopar special edition models, the last one being the Mopar 2021 Ram 1500 unveiled earlier this year. To keep this special edition Durango exclusive, only 250 units will be built for the North American market.
The 2021 Dodge Durango Is About More Than a Facelift Thanks to the New 710-Horsepower SRT Hellcat Trim
The current-gen Durango has been in the running for a decade now, and it was high time for the fourth-gen to make its debut. However, the company announced that it’ll just be a facelift. But, after seeing the 2021 Durango “facelift”, we are not complaining because this is even better than the next-gen stuff.
Apart from the exterior and cabin upgrades, Dodge has added an SRT trim to the Durango’s lineup that brings with it the Hellcat engine. The Durango equipped with this mill will make a mammoth 710 horses that will allow the heavy family hauler to sprint to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds! Well, this a fourth of July present from FCA that we’ll gleefully accept.
The 2019 Durango Is Not Something You Can Just ’Dodge’ Away
The Durango has been one of the most successful products for Dodge. Currently, in its third generation, the hot-looking SUV gets refreshed for the 2019 model with some tasteful visual cues. With a lot more customization options now available, the Durango is looking to expand its base even further. Does it still have the steam to take on the younger line of SUVs?
Dodge Helps Prevent Dealer Mark-Ups on Challenger SRT Demon
As Honda deals with the growing discontent among its consumer base on the aggressive mark-ups dealerships are putting on the Honda Civic Type R, Dodge is determined not to irate its consumers by instituting a unique dealership ordering process for the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. The process itself was designed to prevent the experience prospective Civic Type R customers are going through as they see the prices of the hot hatch skyrocket to almost double Honda’s own asking price.
A big part of Dodge’s allocation plan for the Challenger Demon is to place priority on dealerships willing to sell at or below the automaker’s suggested retail price. Specifically, these dealerships stand to get priority scheduling and receive lower serial-numbered cars as opposed to those who are putting mark-ups on the price of the highly sought-after muscle car. On top of that, dealerships who have sold more than one SRT Hellcat in the last 12 months are the only ones who are eligible to receive a Challenger Demon. And to make it in even more difficult for these dealers, those who meet the previous requirement will be allocated a certain number of models depending on how their sales performance for the Charger, Challenger, and SRT Hellcats are. As for those dealerships planning to sell the SRT Demon above the automaker’s MSRP, they’ll get theirs “after priority production is completed.”

Full Powertrain Spec Sheet For Challenger SRT Demon Revealed, We Compare It To The Hellcat
When Dodge pulled the sheets on the utterly insane Challenger SRT Demon back in April at the 2017 New York International Auto Show, months of speculation finally collided with reality, and the result was one of the most badass factory drag racers ever unleashed. The headline specs on the Demon beg belief, with nearly 850 horsepower and 770 pound-feet of torque sent to the rear axle thanks to a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8. Stuffing the engine is a 2.7-liter supercharger producing 14.5 psi of boost, which prompts at 2.3-second sprint in the 60-mph benchmark. Keep your foot down, and you’ll see the quarter mile blitzed in 9.65 seconds at 140 mph. Insanity. Now, Dodge has a full rundown on hard numbers to document that craziness with the release of the Demon’s powertrain spec sheet.
You can check out the attached press release for all the nitty gritty details, but in the meantime, here are a few highlights. For starters, Dodge says the V-8 engine manages to swallow as much as 173 cubic feet of air during a full-throttle quarter-mile run, which is roughly the same volume as the lung capacity of 816 humans. During a hard launch, the Nitto cheater slicks produce upwards of 1.8 g’s of forward acceleration, enough to lift the nose of the car off the ground for a fronts-up wheelie off the line. There’s plenty of other details as well, so read on if you wanna get nerdy with it as we compare it the “standard” Hellcat.

Despair Mortals, Your Time Has Come – Dodge Reveals Challenger Demon
After months of teasers and more than a few leaks, it’s finally here – the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon has arrived. Unveiled with the help of Wiz Khalifa and Vin Diesel during a slick, pyrotechnic-filled production the night before the 2017 New York International Auto Show, Dodge claims the Demon is the fastest production muscle car in the world, framing it as the cure for soulless mobile appliances. More importantly, here are the numbers you’ve been begging for.
Output is rated at 840 horsepower at the rear wheels thanks to a 2.7-liter supercharger making 14.5 psi of boost. Acceleration looks like 2.3 seconds in the 60-mph sprint, while 5.1 seconds is needed to hit 100 mph. Launch it right, and you’ll do wheelies on your way to a 9.65-second quarter mile pass at 140 mph. Curb weight is rated at 4,200 pounds, 200 pounds less than the “regular” Challenger Hellcat.
What’s more, Dodge revealed you’ll be able to spec yours to taste, from stripped-down track tool, to something more suitable for the street. For example, the front seat and rear seat are offered for a dollar a piece, while a stereo system is also on the options list.

By now, everybody and their grandma knows what the Hellcat name means for Dodge. It’s synonymous with 707 horsepower of supercharged V-8 goodness that makes both the Challenger and the Charger extraordinarily ferocious machines of American might. There are countless write-ups with hard numbers of 0-to-60 times, quarter-mile runs, and so forth. This isn’t one of those reviews. No, I wanted to know what it was like to live with and drive the most powerful production sedan on the planet throughout the week.
Obviously the four-door Charger should be much easier to live with than the 2+2 Challenger – that’s a given – and it proves true. Despite the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat’s insane amount of horsepower and torque, it’s still a Charger underneath. Show up to the rental counter at your local airport, and you can drive the Charger minus the powertrain, fancy (and functional) hood scoops, and performance rubber.
That fact actually helps the Charger Hellcat. Sure it’s a powerful sedan, but it also foregoes the usual compromises associated with a performance-focused machine. So let’s get down and dirty in the daily grind of owning a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat.

It’s been just a month since order books for the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat opened, and the muscle car is already a big hit. That’s the word coming from Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis, who said that more than 5,000 orders have been placed for the beefed-up Challenger as of 10/31/2014. Far from surprising really, considering the Hellcat cranks out a massive 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque for a sticker of only $60,990 including destination.
However, the huge amount of orders came as a bit of surprise for Dodge, with many dealers being unable to meet demand, as all deliveries are booked until December 2014. According to a Dodge dealers quoted by Allpar, Challenger Hellcats are going for as much as $10,000 over sticker due to the low stock. That’s up to $70,000 and it seems people are willing to pay that much to take a lightning-fast Hellcat home. It’s not something prospective Hellcat buyers would like to hear right now, but at least production is not limited to 1,200 units annually as rumored earlier in 2014.

There was a lot of panic when rumors about Dodge planning to produce only 1,200 units of its impressive Challenger Hellcat SRT a year surfaced. Fortunately, Chrysler was quick to deny it, leaving the HEMI-powered Hellcat available to just about anyone. Well, anyone who’s willing to part with $60,990 for a muscle car, that is! If the Hellcat is on your to-buy list this fall, then it’s time you start building it, as Dodge has just fired up the car’s online configurator.
As expected, the Hellcat is far from being a Mini Cooper as far as personalization is concerned, but there is a handful of exterior colors and options you can choose from. As far as exterior extras go, Dodge offers a set of 275/40ZR20 summer performance tires for $395, a power sunroof for $1,195, and a Satin Black aluminum hood with functional vents for $995. Inside, buyers have to come up with $695 for a Uconnect system that has more than just AM/FM radio and Bluetooth connectivity. A set of red seat belts will set you back $95, while premium Laguna leather seats will fetch an extra $1,795.
Only two options are available in the drivetrain department. If you’re not into shifting your own gears, the standard six-speed manual can be replaced by the available TorqueFlite, eight-speed automatic. The unit costs $1,995. The second option is an engine block heater priced at $95. Dodge also offers plenty of exterior and interior color options. Read on to find out more about that.
The Challenger made its fateful return to Dodge’s lineup in 2008 following decades of remaining dormant. For the 2015 model year, the Challenger received a refresh that included a set of taillights that hark back to the 1971 model year. Those fancy taillights are small potatoes when compared to the big news of 2015, the addition of the 700-plus-horsepower Challenger SRT Hellcat.
The wait if finally over, ladies and gentlemen! Dodge has unleashed its most powerful Challenger ever — the Hellcat. Rumored since early last year and initially expected to show up at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, the monstrous muscle car was raised from the dark pits of Hell with a huge, supercharged, 6.2-liter, V-8 mill under the hood and an appearance that will make the Shelby GT500 tremble in fear.
Needless to say, the Challenger Hellcat is the first product of the newly consolidated Dodge and SRT brands, a range-topping model that will sit above the already beefed-up 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker that we’ve seen during the New York Auto Show last month.
"The new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is the ultimate performance muscle car," said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge president and CEO, naming it "a true GT car with an all-new driver-focused interior." The beastly coupe will be built at Chrysler’s Brampton Assembly plant in Ontario, Canada, but production won’t begin until the third quarter of 2014.
If you’re as excited as we are, waiting that long to see and drive the most powerful Challenger ever made will be painful to say the least. However, that gives us more than enough time to go through all the details and find out what the Hellcat is made of. Aside from the supercharged, V-8 HEMI we’re already drooling over...
Updated 07/16/2014: Pricing for the 2015 Challenger Hellcat SRT have been officially confirmed by Chrysler: $59,995 (excluding $995 destination and including $2,100 gas-guzzler tax; $1,700 gas-guzzler tax on models with the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic
Updated 09/18/2014: Dodge announced that the 707 HP Challenger SRT Hellcat will deliver a highway fuel-economy rating of 22 mpg when equipped with the segment-exclusive TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission and 21 mpg with the new six-speed manual.

It seems as though the entire Fiat ownership umbrella is undergoing significant lineup changes in the upcoming years and this includes the entire Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep lineups. One rather odd model that we just received confirmation on is the Dodge Journey SRT6. The only car that could have been more awkward of an addition to the SRT lineup would have been if Dodge slapped an SRT badge on the now discontinued Caliber… Oh wait, they tried that.
Regardless of its awkwardness, seeing that “6” on the end of “SRT” is rather intriguing, as that definitely indicates some serious muscle is on the way. The Journey R/T, the likely donor car for the SRT6 model, has a powerful-as-is 3.6-liter V-6 engine that cranks out 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque and pumping more power from that Pentastar is pretty eyebrow raising.
Given the fact that most STR4 and SRT6 models include either a supercharger or a turbocharger, we would expect this Pentastar V-6 engine to crank out upwards of 370 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque with a turbo or 330 horsepower and 325 pound-feet with a supercharger. Regardless of the configuration, this will make this crossover SUV, which looks more like a minivan than an SUV, a real screamer.
We also anticipate the SRT6 model to come standard with all-wheel drive, as anything less than that would be a true disservice to Dodge’s customer base. On top of all of the performance enhancements, expect SRT to inject some appearance items. The likely additions will include 20-inch rims, ground effects, a custom interior, and a lower stance.
While there is no anticipated release date yet, we expect to see the SRT6 as a mid-2013 model or an early 2014 model. We will continue to keep you updated as more details come out, but on the surface, this looks like one crossover not to be messed with. Our hats go off to the Fiat leadership for thinking outside the box, now we just have to see if people actually buy it.
All car buffs can appreciate when a new car comes out and pumps out 40 horsepower more than its predecessor and even blows away the old version in looks. What separates the typical car buff from the car nut is if they really care how the car got to that point. So many times I will sit and discuss gear ratios, camshaft lift and duration, compression, and weight with people and all they have to say is “How much horsepower does it have.”
Well, SRT obviously thinks its customer base is full of car nuts, as it released five videos with the engineers and designers of the 2013 SRT Viper discussing various parts of the design process, including: general overview, powertrain, interior design, handling characteristics, and exterior design. All we can say about these videos is “Wow.” SRT went above and beyond in developing this car, then went even further to draw us all into the engineering and design rooms.
All of the videos are great, but one of my favorite parts is how the designer states that the point of the interior is to keep it simple yet refined. That is a huge thing with us, as some cars go way overboard with the high-tech gadgets, to the point that it’s overwhelming. It’s pretty funny that they specifically single out Corvette owners and how they complain about the “video game” feel to the controls.
The engine video is great and the engineer really puts to bed some of the issues that the Viper has had in past years. The biggest issue by far was the uneven cooling of the engine and head gasket issues. Both of which seem taken care of with the revised cooling system.
Our favorite video by far is the “Handling Characteristics” video. First off, you can tell the engineer is a car dude and loves this stuff. But hearing about the adjustable stability control and the nasty launch control feature just made us all warm and fuzzy.
Before we give it all away, check out the videos yourself, they are an awesome lesson in how to design a car correctly.
