This Model S Plaid takes on a highly tuned sub-nine-second Dodge Demon. Thankfully, both cars are modified. The showdown took place at Xtreme Raceway Park, down in Dallas, Texas.

Over the last decade, Dodge has been giving us all sorts of high-performance cars, based on the Challenger and Charger models. And while one of their most iconic models – the Dodge Viper – was retired a few years ago, Dodge wants to make up for it, by reviving an old performance program. It’s called Direct Connection and here’s what you can expect from it.

We are all familiar with the tuning potential of the 2JZ engine, which makes it one of the more popular engine swaps. That said, there are certain boundaries one should not be crossing. This is exactly what Mike Finnegan, from Finnegan’s Garage YouTube channel, did, as he took the rustiest 1968 Dodge Charger and put a 2JZ GTE engine in it. While it’s up for debate whether that’s worse than putting an LS into it (at least it’s a V-8) some MOPAR fans are sure to blow a fuse or two over Finnegan’s build.

We’ve made it clear that we love Dodge Vipers and apparently, so do the people at “Nth Moto”, who are also the creators of “the Juggernaut” – a 3,200 horsepower Dodge Viper GTS. Now, they’ve come up with an even crazier Viper, which also happens to be the roll race champion. - meet “Kratos”.

What has the world come to? Just a decade ago, you wouldn’t think much of pick-up trucks in terms of straight-line acceleration. Sure, we’ve had things like the Ford Lightning or the GMC Syclone, but nowadays, you can buy a pick-up truck with well-over 600 and even 700 horsepower out the box. On today’s drag racing video from Sam CarLegion, we have a RAM 1500 TRX going up against a Ford F-150 Roush. The goal is simple – to find out who’s quicker at the quarter-mile.

The YouTube channel Four Eyes is mostly known for the host’s 2007 Ford Mustang GT project car. However, he now has a new project – a 2000 Dodge Viper GTS. The goal is 700 wheel-horsepower without any form of forced induction, but while it’s stock, he decided to see how the 20-year-old snake measures up against some of the Muscle cars currently on sale. Can the old Viper still perform?

Until about a decade ago, when it came to high-horsepower builds, it was pretty much the Chevrolet LS engines, with the occasional 2JZ or RB26 builds making an appearance. Nowadays, people have started noticing the Viper V-10 as the next platform capable of massive horsepower figures. With this in mind, “That Racing Channel” is giving us an inspiring YouTube video that gives the story behind the “six-second kid” and his 1999 Dodge Viper GTS that makes 3,200 horsepower.

Few things are as American as a drag race between a Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, and a Dodge Challenger. Carwow of all people has managed to get modified examples of each of these three icons for a good, old-fashion, quarter-mile drag race. All three Muscle cars have been modified and pack some serious power (for UK standards). Who will win this all-American drag race?

The restomod company, SpeedKore just made a one-off 1968 Dodge Charger based on Dom’s Charger in Fast 9. The vehicle’s official name is "Hellacious," and it is very fitting, indeed.

Dodge unveiled a special-edition model of the Challenger Redeye Widebody last year called the Challenger Super Stock. The car comes with the famous 6.2-liter, V-8 supercharged HEMI engine that churns out over 800 horses. Hennessey brought this car over to its factory and equipped it with its HPE1000 Performance Upgrade package. The result? 1,000+ horses on paper, but around 800 horses on the dyno. In Hennessey’s defense, it is still more than the Challenger Super Stock’s dyno figures.

After coming up with the 6x6 version of the world’s fastest and quickest production pickup truck, the Ram 1500 TRX, there was a lot of curiosity surrounding Hennessey’s next project. As it turns out, the company chose the world’s most powerful production SUV this time to give it a typical Hennessey twist. The aftermarket company has announced that it will be coming up with a 1,000-plus-horsepower iteration of the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat.

Following a number of teasers in the run-up to the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas, the speed gurus from Mopar, FCA’s in-house performance group, pulled the sheets on a brand-new, utterly custom Dodge Charger concept car, and with it, a new crate engine that puts last year’s “Hellcrate” package to shame.

The Demon is one scorcher of a muscle car, running the quarter mile in an incredible 9.65 seconds at 140 mph right out of the box. But, as is often the case, some folks always want more, and thus we have this tuned carbon fiber example that adds more power and slashes the quarter run into the 8’s.

Hennessey Performance’s new engine upgrade package for the Challenger Demon raises the muscle car’s output to 1,200 horsepower. Called the HPE1200, the program makes the Demon’s standard output of 840 horsepower look like a puppy by comparison. Hennessey put its crown jewel Challenger Demon program to the test, and as you’d expect it, “mercy” wasn’t in the muscle car’s vocabulary.

Following a brief production hiatus between 2010 and 2012, Dodge finally discontinued the Viper in 2017. Despite its newly limited status, there are plenty of enthusiasts out there that continue to use theirs as intended, blasting around race tracks and down drag strips with all ten cylinders at full song. Some even take a wrench to it and pump up the output levels to crazy new heights, adding in the boost to achieve four-digit horsepower levels and simply insane acceleration numbers. Such is the case for the two mad machines featured in this 12-and-a-half-minute bit from 1320 Video.

Kicking things off is a red example from Calvo Motorsports, as piloted by shop owner Antonio Calvo. Right off the trailer, this crazy two-door tops out at 221 mph by the end of its half-mile airstrip run, all thanks to the 2,600 horsepower and 2,200 pound-feet of torque it makes at the rear wheels. Following it up is a more streetable version rocking a white paint job and Calvo Motorsport’s TT package. Of course, we say “streetable,” but the white Viper is still producing as much as 2,100 horses at the wheels. Hey, at least it still runs an H-pattern gearbox!

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is ramping up its parts division to provide customers with tons of vehicle accessory choices. We’ve seen it with the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL, but now at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, both the 2019 Ram 1500 pickup and 2018 Dodge Durango are getting “Moparized.”

When Dodge pulled the sheets on the utterly insane Challenger SRT Demon back in April at the 2017 New York International Auto Show, months of speculation finally collided with reality, and the result was one of the most badass factory drag racers ever unleashed. The headline specs on the Demon beg belief, with nearly 850 horsepower and 770 pound-feet of torque sent to the rear axle thanks to a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8. Stuffing the engine is a 2.7-liter supercharger producing 14.5 psi of boost, which prompts at 2.3-second sprint in the 60-mph benchmark. Keep your foot down, and you’ll see the quarter mile blitzed in 9.65 seconds at 140 mph. Insanity. Now, Dodge has a full rundown on hard numbers to document that craziness with the release of the Demon’s powertrain spec sheet.

You can check out the attached press release for all the nitty gritty details, but in the meantime, here are a few highlights. For starters, Dodge says the V-8 engine manages to swallow as much as 173 cubic feet of air during a full-throttle quarter-mile run, which is roughly the same volume as the lung capacity of 816 humans. During a hard launch, the Nitto cheater slicks produce upwards of 1.8 g’s of forward acceleration, enough to lift the nose of the car off the ground for a fronts-up wheelie off the line. In case you missed our in-depth coverage of the Dodge Demon debut last month, here are the highlights: highest horsepower production V-8 ever, first production car capable of doing wheelies, fastest production car in the quarter mile (9.65 seconds at 140 mph), fastest production car 0-to-60 mph time (2.3 seconds), and highest g-force acceleration for a production car (1.8 g). Not too shabby, eh? If that list of achievements sounds like the sorta thing you want in your garage, now’s your chance, as Dodge has officially announced an MSRP for the Demon. Pricing starts at $84,995, which includes a $1,700 gas guzzler tax, but excludes a $1,095 destination charge. Compare that to the “standard” Hellcat’s MSRP of $64,195, and you’re looking at an extra $20,000 to get your hands on a Demon.

“Eighty-five thousand dollars is not just a number in a business case to Dodge,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Cars at Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and Fiat, FCA North America. “We know it’s a lot of money and a significant up-charge over a Challenger Hellcat. We worked very hard to build as much value into the Challenger SRT Demon as possible – features, performance and exclusivity that simply can’t be duplicated with a goal of maintaining, and possibly even growing, as much future value as possible.” Fair enough.
