2019 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack Stars & Stripes Edition
The Dodge Challenger Stars & Stripes Edition is a special-edition package for the 2020-model-year Challenger. Essentially a visual upgrade with some unique features, the Stars & Stripes Edition pays tribute to the men and women who served the United States. The package is available with three trims, the GT RWD, R/T, and the R/T Scat Pack.
Dodge says it launched this package because it has the highest percentage of active military buyers in the industry, while the Challenger and Charger have the highest percentage of active military buyers in their respective segments. Let’s find out what this package adds to the muscle car in the review below.
2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon
Introduced in 2008, when Dodge basically revived the nameplate after a 25-year hiatus, the fourth-generation Challenger is the oldest muscle car available in U.S. showrooms and one of the longest running models as of 2017. Using underpinnings that date back to the W211-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class (2002-2009), the Challenger managed to survive all these years against the more modern Mustang and Camaro, redesigned in 2015 and 2016, respectively. But, even though the Challenger is dated compared to its rivals, it can be had with some of the most powerful drivetrains in its segment, which is why it’s still popular with pony car fans. Having launched the 707-horsepower Hellcat in 2015, Dodge took things to a new level with the Challenger SRT Demon.
Described as a vehicle that will shake "the foundation of the entire performance car industry," the Challenger SRT Demon is indeed an unprecedented creation in the market. Not only incredibly powerful, it’s also fully equipped to race at the drag strip and comes with numerous industry-first features. While the Hellcat was often described as ludicrous, the Demon is downright insane and the stats suggest it’s quicker than just about any supercar out there! “With Demon, our goal was to build a car that would tattoo the Dodge logo into the subconscious of the general market, beyond even our loyal enthusiasts, said Tim Kuniskis, head of passenger cars at FCA North America. “To do so, we had to set records that have never been set before, do more than has ever been done before, go beyond even the legendary Hellcat.”
Updated 09/01/2017: Dodge released a series of new images for the 2018 Demon and we have to admit, this new Granite exterior paint makes it look even better!

Play by Play: Watch the Dodge Demon’s Debut in all its Glory
The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is a secret no more. Surely by this time you’ve read the stats and seen the incredible wheelie this drag-pack special does when launching hard off the line. If not, check out our full review here. We’re here to talk about Dodge’s big reveal – the big party that went down Tuesday night, just hours before the kickoff of the 2017 New York International Auto Show.
It started off at 8:00 p.m. with a tedious countdown. Mopar fans, along with Chevy and Ford folks, watched in anticipation for the Demon. THREE… TWO… ONE… the timer runs out and TV personality Chris Jacobs introduces Dodge’s huge display, along with the crowd of people live streaming the event from around the world. The pleasantries move along when NHRA Top Fuel Dragster Leah Pritchett joins Jacobs to banter about the Demon. Turns out, she’s not just some spokeswoman or pretty face, rather she actually helped test the Demon during its development. How cool is that?
Craig Jackson, namesake of the Barrett-Jackson car auctions, then speculates on how much the first production Challenger Demon might sell for. “It’s hard to say, but based on what the Hellcat did at $825,000, it’ll be a lot.” Jackson isn’t kidding. The Demon might indeed break auction records when it goes under the hammer sometime this fall.
Then things start rolling with a big, yellow Viper. Yeah, it’s not the Demon, but you won’t want to miss the big, smoky, tire-shredding video but out by Dodge and Pennzoil. You won’t even care it’s a marketing stunt.

Despair Mortals, Your Time Has Come – Dodge Reveals Challenger Demon
After months of teasers and more than a few leaks, it’s finally here – the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon has arrived. Unveiled with the help of Wiz Khalifa and Vin Diesel during a slick, pyrotechnic-filled production the night before the 2017 New York International Auto Show, Dodge claims the Demon is the fastest production muscle car in the world, framing it as the cure for soulless mobile appliances. More importantly, here are the numbers you’ve been begging for.
Output is rated at 840 horsepower at the rear wheels thanks to a 2.7-liter supercharger making 14.5 psi of boost. Acceleration looks like 2.3 seconds in the 60-mph sprint, while 5.1 seconds is needed to hit 100 mph. Launch it right, and you’ll do wheelies on your way to a 9.65-second quarter mile pass at 140 mph. Curb weight is rated at 4,200 pounds, 200 pounds less than the “regular” Challenger Hellcat.
What’s more, Dodge revealed you’ll be able to spec yours to taste, from stripped-down track tool, to something more suitable for the street. For example, the front seat and rear seat are offered for a dollar a piece, while a stereo system is also on the options list.

Leaked! Could The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Really Make Four-Figure Power?
Dodge is gearing up for a full reveal of the hotly anticipated Challenger SRT Demon this evening, but it looks like one of the biggest question marks just got spoiled a few hours before the big debut. According to a rash of leaks on social media, the Demon will produce upwards of 1,023 horsepower in its most potent drive configuration.
According to a variety of sources, including Instagram account @thedarkestride, the Demon will come with three separate power modes, each offering progressively greater levels of output. Mode 1 will be good for 757 horses, Mode 2 will be good for 815 horses, and the top Mode 3 will make that jaw-dropping 1,023-horse figure already mentioned.
The leaks go on to specify that Mode 3 requires a tank filled with fuel with at least a 100-octane rating, a new Power Control Module (PCM) tuned for the ultra-high-test juice (a $3,000 option), and the appropriate “Drag Mode” setting selected in the cockpit.
Whether or not the leaks are accurate remains to be seen, but either way, the Demon should manage to post numbers above and beyond those of the already insane 707-horsepower Challenger Hellcat.
We’re very excited to see what happens this evening when Dodge SRT spills the beans with the official debut. For now, read on for a little last-minute speculation.
Dodge Challenger Demon Breaks Cover Early!
Arguably the most anticipated new car from the 2017 Auto Show, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is also the most teased vehicle in recent years. Dodge has been launching weekly video teasers and press releases for three months now, and we’ve seen the cars in various "The Fate of the Furious" film content. The almighty Demon is set to debut tomorrow at the Javits Center, but as it usually happens with highly anticipated cars, the beefed-up coupe made it on the web earlier than planned.
Granted, it’s not like we haven’t seen the Demon in unauthorized peeks several times until now, but the photo published by Wheelsage appears to be an official shot of the red-painted car we’ve seen in all official teasers. The coupe has all the extra bits and pieces that Dodge bragged about until now, including the big wheel arches, the revised aero package, the massive hood scoop, and the "Demon" badges on the front fenders. It definitely looks the part with all these add-ons, but at the same time, it’s still easy on the eyes and somewhat subdued. I like that a lot!
Of course, most of the things that make the Demon special hide under the skin and Dodge has yet to say anything about output. Thankfully, we won’t need to wait too much longer for the official data. FCA will roll out all the important information on April 11, alongside a full batch of photos, so make sure you stick around for updates and our comprehensive review. The Challenger SRT Demon will be the quickest and most powerful factory-made muscle car, so there’s plenty of stuff to get excited about!
Dodge Challenger Demon Will Run on Both High-Octane and Premium Fuel
Set to be unveiled on April 11 at the 2017 New York Auto Show, the highly anticipated Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is less than a week away from breaking cover. And, Dodge is making sure the hype is as big as possible with a brand-new teaser video and a final release set for tomorrow. Today’s video is called "Fuel" and focuses on the car’s ground-breaking fuel system.
Essentially the first factory production car able to run on either 100+ high-octane unleaded fuel or the more common 91-octane fuel, the Challenger Demon can be set up for optimum performance on either public roads or the race track at the flick of a switch. Specifically, Dodge created a special powertrain control module calibrated for high-octane fuel and placed a new switch bank on the center stack for easy access. The car leaves the factory with the control module set for premium unleaded pump gasoline, but once at the track, the driver can easily switch to high-octane.
When activated, the controller enables the supercharged Hemi engine "to extract the maximum power from the knock-resistant high-octane fuel by optimizing spark timing," and return "big changes in elapsed time." Dodge says that mixing high-octane and premium unleaded fuels in the tank won’t hurt the Demon’s engine, but it turns out that the high-octane function won’t activate if the combined fuel octane is too low. Drivers will be able to check the octane in the gauge display thanks to a controller that monitors the engine’s knock sensors. On top of the dual fuel pump, the SRT Demon will also feature larger fuel injectors and higher rail pressure.
Needless to say, the Demon is indeed the kind of car you can drive to the drag strip, run the quarter mile, and then return home with minor modifications.
Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Uses A/C to Cool Its Massive Engine
The 2017 New York Auto Show is just around the corner and so is the highly anticipated Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, the vehicle that may revolutionize the muscle car segment. With the official unveiling less than two weeks away, Dodge launched yet another teaser that showcases an industry-first feature. This time around, the FCA brand brags that the Challenger Demon is the first-ever, factory production car with a liquid-to-air charge air cooler chiller system.
Dodge says that the exclusive performance feature enables the muscle car to achieve charge air induction temperatures previously unattainable by pressure-charged street-legal production vehicles. While conventional cooling methods use air or coolant to reduce the air induction temperature as it is pushed through the charge air cooler, the Challenger’s air conditioning system is diverted to cool the engine’s charge air cooling system when needed. This happens only when the car is used in Drag mode.
Thanks to this system, the intake air temperature can drop by up to 45 degrees Fahrenheit, which enhances performances at the drag strip. By how much compared to the Hellcat is still a mystery but more data will become available when the Demon breaks cover at the 2017 New York Auto Show next month. Stay tuned for updates!
Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Gets Drag Mode, Promises to Win Races
Hey folks, another week has passed and it’s time to watch a brand-new teaser for the upcoming Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Dubbed "Third Law," the 20-second clip showcases the car’s suspension system and ends with a photo of the Demon doing a massive burnout at the drag strip. You guessed it, this thing is going to post some amazing quarter-mile times and dominate just about any amateur drag race across the U.S.
As it has done in most recent teasers, Dodge compares the Demon to the Hellcat yet again. This time around, the brand argues that while the Hellcat’s supercharged engine produces all the power required to run quicker and faster quarter-mile sprints, the car was tuned for the perfect balance between "drag strip brute force, road course competence and street car civility." By contrast, the Demon was designed to perform best in Drag Mode, which in combination with its all-new suspension system maximizes weight transfer and traction and control for mind-boggling quarter-mile runs.
"The “old school” solution was pretty simple – get the quickest reacting springs up front, the softest rebound front shocks that wouldn’t restrict the springs’ reaction, remove any restrictions (sway bar) and increase the compression of the rear shocks," Dodge explained. "This combination resulted in extremely efficient weight transfer, but provided minimal lateral stability in the event that directional corrections were required. Demon combines the best of both mechanical and electronic tuning to deliver maximum launch force while still maintaining precision directional control."
Dodge also claims that the SRT Demon is the first-ever factory production car with mechanical/electronic drag-race-specific suspension tuning. The system includes 35-percent lower rate front springs, 28-percent lower rate rear springs, 75-percent lower rate hollow front sway bar, 44-percent lower rate rear sway bar, and drag-tuned Bilstein adaptive damping shocks.
Unfortunately, there’s no word as to how quick the Demon will be on the drag strip, but we should find out closer to launch. The Drag Mode is also set to be showcased in the "coming weeks," so make sure you stay tuned for updates.
Is This The Upcoming Dodge Challenger SRT Demon?
Announced less than two weeks ago, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon — the Hellcat’s ludicrous brother — appears to be one of the best kept automotive secrets of the year. There weren’t any spy shots, leaked photos, or leaked insider information until just a couple of days ago. The Demon was born out of the blue, with a brief press release from Dodge and a logo. But could it be that we actually missed something in the last few months?
Recent discussions on the Demon topic unearthed a video that Fox published on YouTube back in December. The clip shows Vin Diesel holding a speech in front of the "Fast and Furious 8" crew and shows two beefed-up Challengers in the background. There are two identical cars that seem to be based on the Hellcat based on their headlamps and bumpers, but they also sport bigger splitters and larger intakes atop their engine hoods? Is the video actually giving us our first look at the Challenger SRT Demon?
The body modifications suggest that this may be a plausible scenario, especially since Dodge’s first teasers don’t reveal much about the design. The hood bulge seems to be similar though, but there is one detail that doesn’t match when I compared the "Fast and Furious 8" cars and the one in Dodge’s teaser. I’m talking about the wider wheel arches seen on the movie cars, which doesn’t seem to be present on the Demon shown in Dodge’s second video. Based on this element alone, the movie examples are probably just souped-up Hellcats.
The debate remains open until we can see more of the Demon, but go ahead and watch the video and tell me what you think in the comments section below.
Dodge Drops Second Teaser Video For Challenger SRT Demon
About a week ago Dodge announced that the SRT Hellcat won’t go into the history books as the most powerful current-generation Challenger. A new model will step in with a much more extreme drivetrain and a "Demon" badge on its trunk lid. The announcement came with a preliminary teaser video, which wasn’t exactly revealing. Dodge also unveiled a new website which will air all teaser ads scheduled to be released until the car’s public debut at the New York Auto Show. The second clip is here to give us a better glimpse and the upcoming muscle car.
Although it doesn’t include a clear shot of the SRT Demon, the new "Reduction" teaser provides a few hints about the car’s design. For starters, you can notice that the Demon has a bigger front splitter, while the hood sports a massive bulge that probably hides a redesigned supercharger. A new spoiler is also visible around back, but the clues end here. Styling-aside, the footage was actually released to showcase the fact that the Demon will be lighter than the Hellcat. Lighter and more powerful is a great recipe for performance cars, so it’s all good news.
The video ends with the Demon’s engine roaring at full throttle. The V-8 is obviously supercharged and it sounds downright menacing. Hit play to watch the whole thing and make sure you stick around for more teasers and new information about the Challenger SRT Demon.
The wait is over for the all-new 2015 Dodge Charger, though with a quick glance at the photos, it seems ‘all-new’ is a bit of a stretch. But while everything but the front grille may look carried over, nearly every body panel has been updated. The subtle changes continue inside with a reworked dashboard, a more techno-laden gauge cluster, a new center stack, and a sweet T-handle gear selector. Things under the hood are still familiar, too. The base 3.6-liter, Pentastar V-6 returns, as does the venerable 5.7-liter, HEMI V-8. The transmission options have changed, however. The eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic is now standard across the board, helping the Pentastar V-6 achieve 31 mpg on the highway while assisting the 5.7-liter HEMI sprint to 60 mph in roughly five seconds.
The interior sees a host of electronic upgrades and new technologies within Chrysler’s latest version of Uconnect. Voice texting, updated 3D navigation, WiFi hotspot capabilities, and the all-new Dodge Performance pages all find a home within the 8.4-inch touch screen. That latter item holds a plethora of performance options and customizable settings including launch control and its rpm settings, performance timers, extra gauges, and even a g-force meter.
Matching the updated and more upmarket interior is the Charger’s reworked outer skin. The most noticeable changes lie up front with its more Dodge Dart-like appearance. Around to the sides are scalloped doors still flowing into the large rear haunches and then to a detail-rich rear fascia. A new crop of wheels completes the 2015 transformation.
Updated 10/20/2014: Dodge announced prices for the entire 2015 Charger lineup which will go on sale at a starting price of $27,995 for the base SE version and goes up to $47,385 for the top SRT 392 version.

Dodge’s highly anticipated facelift for the Challenger has finally arrived — a little late we might add — to give the pony a fresh start in the muscle car battle against its Detroit rivals.
Revamped inside and out, the Challenger stormed into New York with updated front and rear fascias, and new exterior colors and wheel designs. Sure, the facelift is not as spectacular as the one seen on the Charger, but it should be enough to keep the Challenger marketable until the next-generation model arrives.
Those who were looking forward to see some engine updates will end up a bit disappointed, as Dodge didn’t bother to offer extra oomph, and, apparently, the new Hellcat V-8 is not yet ready to make an entrance. However, the ancient five-speed automatic has finally been moved to the dustbin, making way for a more attractive unit.
The new Challenger comes just as Dodge is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and the muscle car will certainly be a part of this summer’s merrymaking. We bet something special is coming our way, but, until them, let’s take a deep dive into the 2015 Challenger.
Updated 07/16/2014: Dodge officially announced prices for the entire 2015 lineup and they are pretty much exactly what we expected. The base Challenger SXT has a starting price of $26,995, while the top-of-the-line SRT 392 goes up to $46,395.

The 2015 Challenger and 2015 Charger were the main attraction at Dodge’s New York Auto Show booth, with both vehicles being showcased in brand-new clothes. Unlike the Charger, which received a much more extensive facelift, the updated Challenger arrived with milder body enhancements, but it somehow managed to look more attractive than the former.
I’m tempted to believe this is because the Charger borrowed too many details from the Dart, but I’m also willing to admit that I’m a sucker for the 1971 Challenger, the exact model Dodge looked upon for the 2015 facelift.
Anyway, besides the 1971-inspired fascias and a more modern interior, the revised Challenger also gained a brand-new model, the 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker. As the name suggests, the new trim blends features from both the Scat Pack and the Shaker bundles, while making use of the large 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 mill and the Super Track Pak.
In short, it’s a muscle car that will sit at the top of the non-SRT Challenger lineup next year, being aimed at the Mopar gearheads that are in the hunt for classic looks in a 21st century coupe.

We knew that Dodge would be offering an updated version of its Durango SUV at the 2013 New York Auto Show for quite some time now, but today the redesigned Durango SUV has been officially unveiled in the Big Apple.
Just two years removed from its re-introduction onto the market, Durango received a series of updates that made the ultimate "no compromise" SUV even better. Numerous changes have been made in order to update the SUV’s design, capability and functionality, but the most impressive feature is the addition of the new eight-speed automatic transmission - a first for its market segment.
The 2014 Dodge Durango will be put on sale in the third quarter of 2013. Customers will have to choose between five trim levels, each offering a different level of customization: SXT, Rallye, Limited, R/T and Citadel.
Updated 03/28/2013: This review has been updated with the official details, images and specs.
Updated 08/14/2013: Dodge announced today prices for the 2014 Durango SUV that will arrive at U.S. dealerships later this year. The 2014 Durango has a base price of $29,795.

All car buffs can appreciate when a new car comes out and pumps out 40 horsepower more than its predecessor and even blows away the old version in looks. What separates the typical car buff from the car nut is if they really care how the car got to that point. So many times I will sit and discuss gear ratios, camshaft lift and duration, compression, and weight with people and all they have to say is “How much horsepower does it have.”
Well, SRT obviously thinks its customer base is full of car nuts, as it released five videos with the engineers and designers of the 2013 SRT Viper discussing various parts of the design process, including: general overview, powertrain, interior design, handling characteristics, and exterior design. All we can say about these videos is “Wow.” SRT went above and beyond in developing this car, then went even further to draw us all into the engineering and design rooms.
All of the videos are great, but one of my favorite parts is how the designer states that the point of the interior is to keep it simple yet refined. That is a huge thing with us, as some cars go way overboard with the high-tech gadgets, to the point that it’s overwhelming. It’s pretty funny that they specifically single out Corvette owners and how they complain about the “video game” feel to the controls.
The engine video is great and the engineer really puts to bed some of the issues that the Viper has had in past years. The biggest issue by far was the uneven cooling of the engine and head gasket issues. Both of which seem taken care of with the revised cooling system.
Our favorite video by far is the “Handling Characteristics” video. First off, you can tell the engineer is a car dude and loves this stuff. But hearing about the adjustable stability control and the nasty launch control feature just made us all warm and fuzzy.
Before we give it all away, check out the videos yourself, they are an awesome lesson in how to design a car correctly.
Additional videos after the jump.
There is something mind-numbingly fantastic about seeing a sports car get revealed for the first time. The theatrics, the music, the overall hype over the vehicle gets your adrenaline pumping. That’s the idea, isn’t it?
The press introduction for the brand-spanking new SRT Viper was nothing short of any of those descriptions. We’ve all been waiting for its reveal since the last generation Viper was axed and the wait was well worth it. The 2013 SRT Viper has received an all-new, timeless exterior design with a new carbon-fiber hood, roof, decklid, and aluminum door panels. As a first, the Viper will be offered with LED tail-lamps that integrate stop-and-turn illumination in one element.
It is powered by a new 8.4-liter all-aluminum, V-10 overhead-valve engine that delivers a total of 640 HP and 600 lb.-ft. of torque – the most torque of any naturally aspirated engine in the world. The engine features a new, ultra-high flow and lightweight composite intake manifold, high-strength forged pistons, sodium-filled exhaust valves, new catalysts to reduce back pressure, and an aluminum flywheel that reduces reciprocating losses.
The Viper has received an updated Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission that has been improved with a shorter throw shifter, closer gear ratios and a final drive ratio that has been shortened to 3.07 from 3.55.
All in all, the 2013 SRT Viper is nothing short of amazing. Take a trip to its debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show by checking out these videos.
Second video after the jump.
The SRT Viper’s debut is still 12 hours away, but it was highly unlikely that the highly anticipated return of the Viper would stay secret until then. The first two images of the car have surfaced on the internet and they confirm what everyone has been saying for quite some time: the new generation Viper’s design will pay tribute to the original Viper and will be sleeker, smoother, and even more impressive than before.
These first two images show off just that and although we haven’t seen the full frontal view just yet, we anticipate that the new generation Viper will undoubtedly be on our list for "Car of the Year!"
As a reminder, it is believed that the new Viper will be powered by an 8.7 liter V10 engine - the largest engine ever used in a Chrysler production car - so expect to see a phenomenal output! The car will go into production in late 2012 as a 2013 model, with the first five units being offered to members of the Viper Club of America.
More details will be revealed tomorrow during its official debut in New York, so stay tuned!
