If You Own Or Plan To Buy A Bronco, You Need To Get This Bronco R Series Kit By Roush Performance
by Sidd Dhimaan
While we are desperately waiting for the Bronco Raptor, aftermarket companies are offering us alternatives to keep us happy until then. Roush Performance announced an R Series kit for the Bronco that will turn this off-roader into, well, an even wilder off-roader! The kit brings around aesthetic as well as performance upgrades for the Bronco.
What Sets The Bronco R Series Kit Apart?
We’ve seen loads of aftermarket options for the Bronco already. The minute Ford confirmed that a V-8 Bronco isn’t happening, companies like Hennessey and PaxPower decided to offer customers what Ford chose not to. What hurt us, even more, is that Ford didn’t even bother checking if a V-8 would fit under the hood, thus confirming that the company didn’t even consider it as a future mod. No wonder Jeep got more hype and praise than expected when it announced the Wrangler V-8. I digress.
Coming back to the Roush kit, it doesn’t feature a V-8, but it still comes with enough equipment to make you happy. Roush announced that the Bronco R Series Kit will be shipped directly to customers in a serialized, limited-edition crate. It can even be shipped to the dealers directly so you have all the goodies installed on your Bronco before you take delivery. The performance components that you get in the kit are:
- Five Roush-designed 17-inch off-road wheels
- Roush Performance Air Induction
- Axle-Back Exhaust Systems
The wheels that come in the kit are 17-inch with a +25mm offset. You don’t get the tires here, but Roush has recommended General Tire Grabber X3 315/70 section tires. The tuner noted that the upgraded intake will include an off-road pre-filter and will deliver a 30-percent improvement in airflow when compared to the stock unit. It won’t affect the water-fording capabilities.
The three-inch axle-back exhaust system is composed of T304 stainless steel and makes the signature Roush performance sound. The system even improves the ground clearance and departure angle.
You get a whole lot of cosmetic stuff as well to differentiate your Roush Bronco from the regular Bronco. There’s a graphics kit, floor protection kit, and an off-road recovery kit. The graphics kit includes:
- American Flag graphics
- Body Side Graphics for the four-door Broncos
- Hood graphics
- Jack Roush signature decal
- Roush front fender badges
- Roush Performance license plate frame
- Roush “R” trailer hitch cover
- Roush windshield banner
In the off-road recovery kit, you get things like:
- Weather-proof storage case
- Recovery strap
- D-links
- Flashlight
- Work gloves
- Console Vault safe to allow for secure storage of valuables
The Floor Protection Kit features full-depth front, middle (four-door models only), and rear section floor liners. Apart from these things, you get a certificate of authenticity and two Roush key fobs.
Can I Equip It With My Four-Cylinder Bronco?
Yes, the Bronco R Series Kit doesn’t discriminate between the engines or trims. It can be installed on any Bronco trim and any engine option. It doesn’t matter whether you have a 2.3-liter four-pot mill under the hood, or a 2.7-liter V-6. The only thing you need to be careful about is the CARB compliance in your state. Roush noted that the kit is not 50-state emissions compliant for now.
How Much Does The Roush Bronco R Series Kit Cost?
The Roush Bronco R Series Kit is priced at $6,750. It can be shipped and installed at a Roush dealer at no additional charge as long as you order it directly from the company’s website. If you want only the performance upgrades, you can buy them individually as well. The Air Induction System is available $479.99, and the Axle-Back Exhaust System at $1,049.99.
Conclusion
Roush Performance mentioned that the Bronco R Series Kit will be available starting December 23, 2021. If you’re some who likes to keep even the packaging of the stuff (high-five, there), then you can disassemble the limited-edition laser-engraved crate and preserve it as a keepsake. There’s a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and a limited lifetime warranty on the exhaust system.
