Doug Demuro Thinks The Jeep Rubicon 392 Is The Ultimate Wrangler
Jeep has finally listened to enthusiasts and has given the Wrangler the ultimate upgrade after nearly three and half decades
by Khris Bharath, onDoug DeMuro recently got a chance to take an up-close look at the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392. The Wrangler has pretty much had a niche market to itself for the longest time, but we first saw the Rubicon 392 about a year ago and it was obviously conceived in response to the revival of the Ford Bronco.
Doug is hailing the 392 as the ultimate Wrangler, but why? Well, to cut the long story short, this is the most powerful Wrangler ever. Sure, you’ve always had after-market mods, etc, but Jeep themselves have not featured a V-8 on the Wrangler for the better part of three and a half decades, well until now that is.
They’ve finally listened to their loyal fanbase and have thrown in the 6.4 liter naturally aspirated 392 Hemi V-8 that also powers other FCA products like the Charger and Challenger. It produces 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. With a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds, Jeep had to carry out some pretty extensive modifications to the 392. These performance numbers easily trump those of the Ford Bronco.
Now Doug has already previously reviewed the standard Wrangler and the Gladiator pickup, which is also based on the Wrangler, so he only touched upon some of the highlights of this top-of-the-line model which is only available as a four-door. Doug goes over the usual quirks and features followed by his test drive and definitive Doug Score.
