2023 Porsche 911 Turbo Facelift spied for the first time

The Porsche 911 is currently in its eighth generation, internally dubbed the 992. The current generation debuted in 2019, with the 911 Turbo debuting in March 2020, and as always, followed the philosophy “evolution, not revolution”. Fast-forward to the end of 2021 and we have spy footage, which shows an updated version of the 992 Turbo testing in the snow. Here’s what we see.
With the 992-generation of the Porsche 911 in its third production year, it’s the right time for a mid-cycle update. From what we see on the test prototype, the changes are rather subtle. The main thing we notice is the multi-piece taillight design, which replaces the current 992’s uninterrupted strip. We see the same diffuser, with quad-exhaust tips, flanked by air outlets. The only new addition here is the light reflectors, above the air ducts.
On the sides, things remain unchanged. The test car is equipped with the Turbo wheels – 20-inch at the front, 21-inch at the back – which is one of the four wheel designs, available for the 992 Turbo. At the front, we see new fog lights, which are no longer integrated into the air intakes in the lower fascia. Instead, they feature a classic, round design and stick out from the outer edges of the front bumper, similar to those of a 997.2 Turbo.
More importantly, we believe the fog lights have been relocated to the outer edges, because of the new flaps that hide behind the front air intakes and are a part of Porsche’s revised, active aerodynamics.
Performance details are still a mystery, but as always, we expect the 992.2 Turbo to receive a bump in power. The Porsche 911 Turbo facelift is scheduled for 2023, which means a debut, sometime in 2022. The Turbo will be the first 911 model to benefit from the update and the others will follow. Expect more details, as the official debut closes in.
