The new generation Toyota Tundra made a huge impression when it was launched in September 2021, so it was to be expected for it to be one of the stars of this year’s SEMA Show. One of the coolest concepts based on the new generation Tundra comes from Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and is called TRD Desert Chase Tundra.

What makes the Toyota TRD Desert Chase Tundra special?
The new TRD Desert Chase Tundra is based on the 2022 Tundra TRD Pro which features an innovative hybrid powerplant. This means the truck will be powered by a i-FORCE MAX twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with an electric motor for a combined output of 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. The engine will also be mated with the regular 10-speed automatic transmission.

Output | 437 HP |

The Desert Chase Tundra rides on a new set of lightweight 18-inch forged aluminum wheels from Method Race Wheels, wrapped in 37-inch General Tire Grabber X3 all-terrain tires.
The new wheels are combined with a new, TRD-designed, long-travel suspension that uses the Tundra’s stock mounting points. A wide-body kit designed by TRD completes the picture.
Being a truck designed for off-road usage, the TRD Desert Chase Tundra will also be using during night driving. For this, it came equipped with rear- and side-facing Rigid lights and a front-facing Rigid light bar with room for up to eight lights.
The trucks bed will also be equipped with all the essentials:
- a custom-made roll bar
- custom-mounted off-road jack
- 15-lb. CO2 bottle
- fuel and water containers
- two roll bar mounted spare tires
- an ARB Tred Pro Recovery Board with everything secured using the Tundra’s existing OEM truck bed bolts and bolt locations.
