Rolls Royce launched the Black Badge for the first time back in 2016 when it launched the Wraith and the Ghost. In 2017 Dawn received the same treatment and then in 2019 it was Cullinan’s turn to be black. Now, five years after the official launch of the Black Badge treatment, Rolls Royce announces the Black Badge Ghost - the "purest and most technologically advanced Black Badge motor car yet."

What’s different on the exterior?
For this special edition Ghost customers can choose between 44,000 exterior paints, but, as you probably expected, the majority of them will opt for the signature Black. According to Rolls Royce this is the darkest black paint ever offered on a car and it consist of a total of 100 pounds (yes, 45 kilos) of paint "atomised and applied to an electrostatically charged body in white before being oven dried." The car then receives two layers of clear coat and it is then hand-polished by a team of four craftsman - a procedure that takes three to five hours.
Next to this unique paint, the famous Spirit of Ecstasy and Pantheon Grille also receive a lot of special attention. A special chrome electrolyte is introduced to the traditional chrome plating process and then each component is polished by hand to achieve a mirror-black chrome finish and only after that is being fitted to the car.
The Bespoke 21-inch composite wheels are also unique. They are crafter from 44 layers of carbon fiber for greater strength and the 3D-forged aluminum hub is bonded to the rim using aerospace-grade titanium fasteners.
Things were changed on the interior too
The interior follows the same dark theme, but it is defined by luxury and opulence. The world’s finest woods, including black Bolivar veneer, carbon fiber and aerospace-grade aluminum was used to design one of the most luxurious cabin you can find.
The individual rear seats receives the Black Badge family motif, the Black Badge Ghost’s Champagne cooler is rendered in aerospace-grade aluminum, the air vent surrounds on the dashboard and in the rear cabin are darkened using physical vapour deposition, and even the clock itself received a lot of attention in an attempt to make it as unique as possible.
The Ghost’s interior is also displaying a world’s first Beskope innovation: the Illuminated Fascia, which displays an ethereal glowing Lemniscate, surrounded by more than 850 stars. This motif is located on the passenger side of the dashboard and it is only visible when the interior lights are on.
The V-12 engine delivers more power too
Just like any other Ghost, the new Black Badge edition is powered by a 6.75-liter twin-turbo V-12 engine. However, it now delivers an additional 28 horsepower and 37 pound-feet of torque. As a result, the 2022 Rolls Royce Black Badge Ghost delivers a total of 591 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque.
The sprint from 0 to 60 mph is made in 4.5 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.
The engine also received a Bespoke transmission and throttle treatments. The ZF eight-speed gear box and both front- and rear-steered axles work collaboratively to adjust the levels of feedback to the driver, depending on throttle and steering inputs.
How about the price?
The 2022 Rolls Royce Black Badge Ghost is now available for order, but expect to pay a lot for it. In UK for example, the model is priced from £249,500, before taxes.
