2022 Audi RS6-S by ABT
Not as powerful as the previous Johann Abt Signature Edition, but still a lot of power for a station wagon
by Alina Moore, onIn June 2021 ABT was presenting the ‘Johann Abt Signature Edition’” - a model based on the Audi RS6 Avant built to commemorate the company’s 125th anniversary. It was limited to only 64 units, and, because of its 790 horsepower under the hood, it enjoyed huge success. Actually, it was sold out in no time.
At the customers’ request, ABT is offering a successor for it: the RS6-S. The new model was launched at the same time as the RSQ8-S and will be available starting January 2022.

What changes will there be under the hood?
As we mentioned before, the Johann Abt Signature Edition delivered a total of 790 horses and 723 pound-feet of torque. Of course, it was a special car built on a special event, so do not expect the RS6-S package to offer the same thing.
But, before you get too depressed, you need to know that the numbers aren’t that bad in the new package either. In fact, ABT is offering two different levels of engine upgrade. Level one includes the high-tech control unit ABT Engine Control (AEC) that will increase the V-8’s output up to a total of 700 horsepower and 649 pound-feet of torque.
On request, there is also a level two available, that will take the final output up to a total of 740 horsepower and 687 pound-feet of torque.
Just 50 horsepower short when compared to the Johann Abt Signature Edition, but a lot more when compared to the standard Audi RS6 Avant.
The last-mentioned one is powered by a twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V-8 engine that delivers a total of 592 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque.
What changes will we get on the exterior?
Most of the ABT packages are focused on upgrading things under the hood, but this doesn’t mean the exterior is left untouched. The RS6-S kit will offer an aerodynamic package made out of visible carbon-fiber. It will include:
- ABT front lip with RS6-S logo (carbon gloss)
- ABT front blades (carbon gloss)
- ABT side skirts front (carbon gloss)
- ABT side blades rear (carbon gloss)
- ABT rear spoiler (carbon gloss)
The car will ride on a new set of 22-inch ABT High-Performance HR rims combined with new springs that will drop the car's ride by 25 millimeters in front and 30 millimeters in the back.
ABT will also install a new stainless steel exhaust system with four 102 mm end pipes.
What changes will it bring on the interior?
Do not expect anything major when it comes to interior updates. There will be though a few options to choose from, including:
- ABT seat refinement with ABT logo and RS6-S logo
- ABT integrated entrance lights with ABT logo
- ABT floor mats (RS6-S logo)
- ABT door sills (RS6-S logo)
- ABT shift knob cover (carbon gloss)
- ABT steering wheel badge
- ABT start-stop-switch-cap
Prices and availability
Just like with the RSQ8-S, the RS6-S is priced at 42,900 euros ($48,000 at the current exchange rates) - not including the price of the Audi RS6 Avant and the installation fees.
If you want to spend extra, ABT is offering a Sport GR22 winter wheelset priced at 6,440 euro and an optional interior package priced at $3,140. It includes dashboard covers (carbon gloss), ABT seat frame covers (carbon gloss), and ABT shift paddles (carbon gloss).
