An extra 250 horsepower and an updated look really transform the Maybach GLS 600 4Matic
by Alina Moore, on LISTEN 03:45Mercedes unveiled the Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC almost two years ago, and it is an SUV that pretty much needs no improvement. It comes with 550 horsepower under the hood, a luxurious interior, and an exterior look that will make most of the luxury SUVs out there jealous.
Brabus however thinks the Maybach GLS can be improved even further, so it came up with the Brabus 800 package that will transform the Maybach GLS in all aspects: exterior, interior, and performance.

What updates were made under the hood?
A "base" Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC is powered by a twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V-8 engine that delivers a total of 550 horsepower and 538 pound-feet. That’s about 67 horsepower and 22 pound-feet more than the GLS 580, but still 60 horsepower and 89 pound-feet less than the AMG GLS 63 S model.
Brabus’ latest kit comes to do some justice. Its PowerXtra B40S-800 performance upgrade kit for the engine includes two special turbochargers with larger compressor units, including a modified core assembly and reprogrammed ECU. The last touch is a new stainless high-performance exhaust system with active sound management and a matt black tailpipe on either side.
As a result, the GLS 600 now delivers a total of 800 horsepower at a low 6,000 rpm and 701 pound-feet of torque at a low 5,000 rpm.
It goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.5 seconds and up to a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).
What changes were made for the exterior?
For the exterior, the tuner opted for a black paint finish, and all the standard chrome parts were replaced with Shadow Gray elements. The package also includes a carbon-fiber body kit that will update both the look and the aerodynamics of the SUV.
Up front, Brabus added a new spoiler and carbon fiber air intakes in the bumper.
At the rear changes are limited to just a new bumper specially designed to accommodate the new end pipes of the Brabus exhaust system.
As for the wheels, Brabus went for its new 24-inch Monoblock M "Platinum edition" high-end alloys wrapped in Continental high-performance tires of size 295/35 R 24. The air suspension was specifically calibrated to host the new wheels, and it also lowers the car’s ride by about 1 inch.
How about the interior?
If there is one place where Maybach cars need no improvement that is the interior for sure. Somehow though Brabus found a way to make this even more luxurious.
It opted for the highest quality, breathable leather, trimmed in Leonis Orange.
It was used for the seat center sections, the door panels, and the entire cabin floor. In the rear passengers will enjoy a tailor-made business console with two retractable tables.
In order to match the exterior look, all switches, and trim elements feature Shadow Grey glazing. Carbon fiber was also used for the instrument panel, center stack, and door panels. The final touches are the aluminum pedals, door pins, and paddle shifters.
